back a story published late last week attempting to link it member of trump's inner circle circle rather to russian bankers and allege the senate intelligence committee was in on the investigation one monday c.n.n. released a statement reading in the aftermath of the retraction of a story published on c.n.n. dot com c.n.n. has accepted the resignations of the employees involved in the story's publication so the question is who took the fall for handing in the resignations were investigative reporter thomas frank the editor of the investigative unit he works for lichtblau and it unit leader lex haris but as r.t. correspondent on your parm paul explains the network had barely recovered from the drama before another potentially explosive scandal hit the airwaves right wing political activist and founder of project very toss james o'keefe has taken a break from his traditional targets like planned parenthood and set its sights on c.n.n. on my. they o'keefe dropped his latest report american proverb to c.n.n.

producer says russian narrative b.s. which stars c.n.n. health producer jon bon afield and making some shocking admissions about the network's coverage of the alleged collusion between the trunk campaign and russia. constantly in. russia with. this ratings this rating i reserve the right but honestly if you think. it's just like. it's mostly history right now we don't have. john. proof. that the. president is probably right to. move forward to. have those moved. over to. to see you soon instead in our internal bleeding he said good job everybody can

agree with the political words. we're done with it let's get back to. our tea cannot independently verify the video's authenticity but if o'keefe is representing it accurately you just heard a c.n.n. producer admit to keep pieces of information that c.n.n. is covering russia gate for ratings and that the story is currently quote mostly b.s. donna field even suggests the president could be correct in his characterization of the media's approach to the story as a witch hunt and fact at courting to the harvard kennedy school a report published this year ninety three percent of stories concerning trump run by c.n.n. or negative and it's served them well in terms of ratings as of this may c.n.n. had seen a twenty six percent rise in ratings since the same time last year making it the second fastest increasing odd. behind m s n b c's viewership which increased one

hundred five percent as variety points out c.n.n. narrowed the gap with fox news to its third smallest since october two thousand and eight in the total day and second smallest since january two thousand and nine in prime time in the key demo but the battle for most viewed it doesn't necessarily translate into the most trusted name in news considering a rasmussen poll released earlier this month found only thirty three percent of c.n.n. viewers trust the political news they get on the channel making it in fact the least trusted of the three mainstream major networks don't tell that to c.e.o. jeff zucker though who as recently as june claimed c.n.n. is trusted now more than ever despite this latest fiasco is up there is reportedly trying to keep morale high at the company a c.n.n. source told the buzz feed news is up to rallied staffers on

a conference call tuesday morning telling close staffers to keep fighting the good fight and that the impassioned response only demonstrated c.n.n. is growing influence the report goes on to say however quote still c.n.n. sources describe a glum environment in the wake of resignations as staffers watched conservative commentators like fox news's sean hannity revel in cnn's pain hannity called for zucker's resignation this week neither john nor c.n.n. has yet to comment on this latest project very toss report meaning that the network still used to demanding transparency itself is for now still clouded by uncertainty in washington on your palm pill r t. well for more on the evolving c.n.n. russia saga i'm joined now by a legal and media analyst lionel of media thanks for joining us. lionel there is no deny. the undercover video from project veritas is just absolutely unbelievable so
4:06 pm
before this video surfaced c.n.n. already had made strict internal restrictions on their reporting on russia so do you see this video changing the culture at all over at c.n.n. . well i guess before the culture rad c.n.n. but i think the world right now of journalism is sitting shivah as to what is happening not just to c.n.n. this project this is there's a prude or film this is the smoking gun that what they're going to do is are to say look this guy's not important he doesn't speak on behalf of zucker he's just some maybe a near do well or malcolm dead nothing to worry about the good news for c.n.n. i would tell them don't worry number one nobody is shocked by this this is like in one thousand nine hundred nine when vince mcmahon said wrestling's fake wasn't exactly film with eleven we've already known this but what it goes to show you was

compound did after this week's incredible may have coppa the couldn't drish in the expiation of the the the terrible scaramucci transgression both back to back it's finally telling a lot of people what they've already known that c.n.n. is in the entertainment business they're in the ratings business and what ever it is whatever it takes whether it's contrived stories of russia they'll do it there's a subtext to this this is also the death of the russian story the russian hacking story is officially gone because recently chuck schumer and others were communicating among the ranks of the d.n.c. to lay off this story the other offshoot of this is what are people like rachel maddow going to do whose entire show is based upon this russian story so the
4:08 pm
repercussions of this are multifold yes the timing i as you said is certainly enter seen and so in the thing in an article that was retracted there was an unnamed source and there are counts that the article was associated with one of senator elizabeth warren staffers who was apparently egged on by the staff at senator harris so while they will wait for orenstein to respond what would this mean for the democratic party if indeed senator warrants team was involved in that. that's the least of their problems the problem that the democratic party has right now the d.n.c. is that they have an incoherent message and a lot of this was also done as this post-hoc rationalization to explain to the world and justify why hillary clinton with the billion dollar war chest blow the election and frankly lost despite the fact that she had no no i paid to speak of this is a multiplicity of problems that finally came to a head look what they're going to tell you right now is full steam ahead they're
4:09 pm
not going to mention this but here is the chance right now for alternative media and soren media and then ted to say we're going to pick up the the gauntlet we're going to run with this because it goes to show you what we have known for the longest time i say we not you c.n.n. is dad i don't know how to tell you this anymore it's over with goodbye i mean this is a cute taps you bring up an interesting point because i mean democratic representative of ohio i mean he made an interesting point similar to what you just made that people in his state they aren't talking about russia they're talking about how they're going to make their mortgage payments and things like that and he said that you know they really need to do more than simply disagree with donald trump twenty lection so i mean if people aren't interested in hearing about russia why is c.n.n. so obsessed with it and is that their mere hate for trump just hoping to you know that this investigation will put him in a negative light. natasha if jeff zucker looked at the meters and saw the numbers

going up by showing twenty four seven of the doc playing the piano you'll be save a dime playing the piano it has nothing to do with journalism this is a this is a this is this this this organization is on its death bed i'm being serious they're going to call it cold pretty soon their ratings were awful this is his last chance right now it's do or die it's all about money it's about entertainment that's it but this is the day no more of the valedictory it's all over ad watch the other groups say what do we do know now this was our story what do you mean there's no russian story that's our act is you know it's like being it's like having an act that all of a sudden is deemed irrelevant which it just has been for me at a time thank you so much as always land on my own media you appreciate hearing. well known from has acted in the latest news regarding c.n.n.

on twitter this is something that he's been known to do ever since his election campaign kicked off during his distaste for the mainstream media particularly at c.n.n. . takes a look at the tumultuous relationship between the president and the mainstream media trumps war with the mainstream media has been going on firmly since his election campaign but intensified after he took office particularly against the c.n.n. the most trusted name in news was brutally set down twice in trump's first two major news conferences the inauguration not going to give you. the attack of fake news and attacking our network i just want to ask you sir i'm changing from say news now doesn't that under a very good aren't you all throughout his young presidency trumps views on major news networks has often spilled out on to twitter not just fake news what he called them the enemy of the american people that's what he said with every seventeen the fake news media failing new york times n.b.c. news a.b.c. c.b.s. c.n.n.
4:12 pm
is not my enemy it's the enemy of the american people several days later he tweeted fake news media knowingly doesn't tell the truth a great danger to our country the fading new york times has become a joke likewise c.n.n. sad in may there was a more fake news media works hard to disparaging and demeaning my use of social media because they don't want america to hear the real story and even today trump ranted even more the c.n.n. fiasco with the russia story tweeting that fake news c.n.n. is looking at big management changes now they got caught falsely pushing their phony russian stories ratings way down and as well as suggesting it wasn't only c.n.n. deemed fake news by the president but many other outlets the network has been standing firm signified by the pin tweet of c.n.n.'s white house reporter jim acosta but was still forced to terminate comedian kathy griffin's employment after our attempt at . art the controversial social media posts of her standing holding

a replica of trump's decapitated head and it caused a massive. and now three relatively high profile departures signs of tougher editorial control on russia stories and damaging tapes on the network's dealings you would think that lessons have been learned but think again considering the man who knows better than anyone how to lose the lose the battle has just been hired by the c.n.n. election reporting from washington d.c. . the u.s. claimed on monday the syrian government is allegedly preparing a chemical attack on rebels washington has threatened to use force if the chemical weapons are used the united states has identified potential preparations for another chemical weapons attack by the assad regime the united states is in syria to eliminate the slum extent of iraq and syria if however mr assad conducts another mass murder attack using chemical weapons he and his military will pay a heavy price artie's policy clear has the details the kremlin has responded saying

that it is familiar with the statement but it is not aware of its basis a criminal spokesperson say that they categorically disagree with the wording and now the attack stressing that damascus cannot be held liable for the last attack because despite all of russia's demands and unbiased international investigation has still not been carried out moscow also says that it considers any threats to the legitimate need a ship of syria unacceptable. or what we consider such threats to the legitimate government of the syrian arab republic unacceptable but at the same time it's important to point out that we consider unacceptable the use of chemical weapons the potential danger of repeated provocation with chemical weapons in syria still exists while the white house a statement on the threat of a new chemical attack is interesting indeed let's first look at the wording this statement says that they have detected potential preparations that would likely result in mass civilian casualties particularly innocent children are that's quite
4:15 pm
emotive language obviously used to garner support for such a statement the statement also talks about a potential preparations but what exactly does this mean there are no details given other than that it is similar or seemingly similar to what the u.s. detected before the last chemical attack back in april the statement also says any chemical attack in syria in the immediate future will be blamed on assad and his allies an obvious no investigation no due process. just punishment now as far as the damascus government goes they've denied to the white house and occasions that they may be preparing for a new chemical attack they insist again that they've never used such arms at the same time we're hearing from several state department officials who are typically involved in coordinating such announcements and they say that they were called complete gone by the warning which didn't appear to be discussed in advance with any other kind of national security agencies and then the united kingdom is weighing in it says that it will back u.s.
4:16 pm
action against syria despite seeing no evidence of this alleged attack even being prepared i want to leave you with no doubt we think it's absolutely right if we turn to prevent the use of chemical weapons and we will fully support any u.s. action president donald trump will disregard the recent senate bill imposing new sanctions on russia the white house says the bill violates the revenue clause that's according to white house press secretary sean spicer this constitutional requirement calls for all bills directed at raising revenue through legislation to originate in the house of representatives but if they were denied legitimacy of the sanctions bill yesterday during a news conference. the senate parliamentarian pulled didn't follow proper procedure so i mean there is no new bill at this time the house is looking at taking up legislation. on june fifteenth the senate voted ninety eight two on imposing new sanctions against russia and coming up on our major cyber attack as at least ten

live a huge cyber attack has hit firms in at least ten different countries with ukraine and russia being the worst affected artie's miguel francis santiago has more on the details. several major russian and ukrainian companies have come under a ransomware virus attack now in the case of russia it was the oil giant ross sniffed and in ukraine we had. airport as well as ukrainian government computers coming under attack now with rosneft which is right behind me the company's servers came under a massive onslaught but were able to revert to reserve systems keeping the oil extraction and other production services online and you see the way this.

virus ransomware works is that blocks the computer and ben asked for a three hundred to five hundred dollars ransom in order for the computer to be accessible again quite a pesky virus and you know to understand the magnitude of this thing just a little bit over a month ago over ninety nine countries seventy five thousand machines were affected by the same type of them around somewhere a virus called want to cry you know major hospitals in america and europe couldn't use their computers businesses went down you know causing brief have a call across but the funny thing is about that about that particular hacking attack was that russia happened to be the main target taking in most attempts and most attacks some of which were successful penetrating megafauna a major russian telecom provider and disturbing it services for over twenty four hours and now back to this recent attack that happened today. lab experts were

citizens natasha interested and so has a right any kind of public oversight of these programs yet. there has not been any public oversight the american public has yet to weigh in on this and in fact congress has not authorized it either congress has only authorized biometric exit bills for foreign nationals rather than american citizens so that's something that's very interesting to see here and the goal is to eventually roll this out on a mandatory of bases across the entire united states depending on how well this program goes now airlines and say that they think this will make traveling much faster and more efficient but these machines are not perfect and they are subject to error in fact the algorithms that these machines rely on have been shown in previous studies to fail and not do well when dealing with people who are african-americans or small children and even women in comparison to how they take data from white adult males so that's something to consider here as well and of

him a liar for the part of. your speech. for the day like you are going to. do with the police a. very big deal just a. little you know you know we don't know what you're. still. there. c.n.n. just published not only fake news but very fake news that's according to president trump and according to c.n.n. itself last week they published a story that connected one of the president's senior advisers to a russian investment point in the piece c.n.n.
4:27 pm
made the allegation that the senate intelligence committee and the treasury department were probing because the posed connection this story cited exactly one anonymous source it was all the research of facts they bother with before publishing this totally outrageous claim and it turns out the claim was very very weak the whole thing amounted to two democrat senators ben cardin and elizabeth warren pushing for yet another probe they want another probe but that doesn't equal the senate intelligence committee and treasury department actually conducting a probe nor does that equal a connection between this find and the president's advise that these claims just aren't true they are nothing more than the democrats planting more stuff in the news to deal with it in my eyes trust presidency they are nothing but very very few and the reason i can say that confidently is because c.n.n. that is is that after the story was published and circulated and viewed by who knows how many people over the course of a day c.n.n. then retracted it and they put up an editor's note which says that the story did
4:28 pm
not meet the inn and that authorial standards and has been retracted they also noted that the link in the story were disabled and that they apologized to the advisor for publishing this piece of fate news about him so they admitted they had published the very feet news just like president trump has that now busby just reported that they have tainted. internal e-mail from c.n.n. which indicates that the network is imposing a new publishing restrictions for online articles about all things russian related in an effort to stop publishing such very fake news the emails from c.n.n. executive editor and it tells c.n.n. employees to not publish anything involving russia without clearing it with hand or a theme and vice president this is how embarrassed and upset they are about getting caught publishing very fake news to which i say it's about time and i'm sure that the president and anyone else tired of the n.b.a.'s will agree with me.
