in the never ending trail of scandals following c.n.n. today another secretly recorded video surfaced showing an on air c.n.n. host dismissing the substance behind the network's heavy coverage of russia's alleged connection to the us election it's the second undercover video in his many days featuring a c.n.n. employee discussing russia project vera toss founder james o'keefe is behind the videos r.t.c. mon del rosario has the full story tonight it's been one public relations crisis after another this week for c.n.n. first the network retracted a story that tried to draw a connection between a donald trump ally and an investigation into russian funds the story had one anonymous source and in the aftermath three reporters resigned and now this on air host and political commentator van jones caught on project veritas undercover camera saying this what do you think's going to happen this week with the russian.

coverage of the russia trump investigation in general here's what i've been able to dig up so far late friday night c.n.n. tweeted an editor's note saying that on june twenty second c.n.n. dot com published a story connecting anthony's car mucci with investigations into the russian direct investment fund that story did not meet cnn's editorial standards and has been retracted links to the story have been disabled c.n.n. apologizes to mr starr mochi to which he replies c.n.n. did the right thing classy move apology accepted everyone makes mistakes moving on and while i'm sure c.n.n. would like it to be that easy it's not three days later three employees resigned c.n.n. money quoting a spokesman saying that in the aftermath of the retraction of a story published on c.n.n. dot com c.n.n. has accepted the resignation of the employees involved and while c.n.n. president jeff zucker has yet to address the story or the resignations according to the new york times citing a c.n.n.

day parts and particularly with that crucial twenty four to fifty five demographic they've done very very well and the same way that c.n.n. i thought was deeply embarrassing following that malaysian aircraft that both malaysian aircraft frankly but particularly the one that disappeared where you hear about it every day every day every day after everybody else had given up on the story i think they're going to continue writing this russia story where again it is it is a serious matter if there was an attempt and any cooperation by people in the trunk campaign to subvert american democracy of course it's serious but we have for goodness sake as special counsel who supposed to be investigating it now let him do his job look the lid on how big a problem is this for c.n.n. . well i definitely think that it's going to make for you or be weary right once you keep hearing the repeated reports of fake news fake news it's made even me say well let me look a little bit deeper into this issue however c.n.n.

has a reputation that is going too far out live donald trump we can't get mad at people like van jones and others we know these folks have opinions but it wasn't until recent times when you have a president like donald trump who says things that are so our rate is that now people are starting to lower their standards and will recover but they're going to have to make sure that they're keeping us focused on things that people truly do care about well that's the big question is it about what people are going to watch the sensation of it or the importance of it i mean how do you feel about the c.e.o. saying get back to russia get on russia doesn't that shake the confidence of course it destroys all journalistic credibility in my opinion i mean you have to do what's important to the people not just what people are going to watch your thoughts on that lead on well if same now that russia is important to the people there is a large segment of america that really cares about getting to the truth of the story i think the problem is that c.n.n.

and many of the reporters are chasing after every single tweet that donald trump has and that is a problem that is not what this isn't about trump this is about what seem inputs on the air unsubstantiated reports sources that they apparently can't back up with all these investigations going on in there is nothing very yet and it's been a year michael and it is about trying well. it's about his campaign possibly being connected to russia but being when there's no new news there and they're told to stay on it and then they get caught putting something on the air that simply isn't true michael where does this take the network. where it takes the network as to where they were today today they were making a huge deal about president trump having said that an irish reporter in the white house had a nice smile honestly i was watching c.n.n. a little bit earlier today and they spent hours on this alleged outrage now again

was it art full in the greatest moment from spreads then to history no but it was a normal human reaction to a reporter that he noticed who was in there and he mentioned it to the irish prime minister and to truth this is some kind of criminal activity just seems to me is suggestive that this is a network with a vendetta and finally led on is this a network with a vendetta against the president i think you have two parts i think you have a network that recognize this is important responsibility of continuing to investigate look for and report things that continue to come up had c.n.n. not continued to push on certain things it would have been a problem on the other if you have a network whose feelings were hurt and now they're trying to make sure that they are following along with the fake news and prove that they're not but i think they're following into a whole that shows that some of the things aren't completely correct ok well what they're telling us and what is behind the scenes certainly don't match up with dawn jones and michael medved great to have both of you with us tonight thank you. the

g.o.p. senate health care bill continues to face hurdles as more and more senate republicans are come out against it majority leader mitch mcconnell can't seem to get his own party on board while many of the senators face upcoming midterm elections and states benefiting from medicaid expansion manila chan it's been following the story and brings us the numbers and they are big numbers right at this week we've talked a lot about the politics of the g.o.p. proposal but that kind of becomes a political football and that gets punted to the left and to the right so tonight. i thought we should examine just the numbers see what they look like apart from the c.b. over port which the white house released criticism telling people not to trust it first remember when the president elect trump said this. you know we have to cover people that can afford it that's what i'm talking about and we'll probably have block grants of medicaid back into the states and we'll do things because there are

people who can afford it and nobody's going to be dying on the streets with the president trump we want to take care of everybody well now president trump seems to be doing the exact opposite of what he campaigned on by supporting both the house health care bill from just a few weeks ago to now the senate bill both which impose drastic cuts to medicaid across the entire country take a look here this graph from the c.d.c. shows the percentage of insured and uninsured americans in medicaid expansion states as well as those in non expansion states from two thousand and thirteen to twenty sixteen uninsured people in the expansion states year over year were able to get insured either through a public option or private now from twenty thirteen the first year the a c eight opened and roll it all the way up to twenty sixteen the number of uninsured in expansion states were literally cut in half that is a very significant shift under the a c. a even those in non expansion states saw benefits with the number of uninsured

seeing a slight drop there too and across the country states who participated in medicaid expansion under obama care all saw a huge drop in the rate of uninsured bringing their number whelm below the national average of twelve point four percent states like california washington minnesota iowa wisconsin all across the rust belt benefit from that expansion states that didn't participate in medicaid expansion have numbers significantly higher than the national average states like texas oklahoma georgia north carolina and this projection right here now numbers of those under age sixty five who would be uninsured under either the house bill the h.c.a. or the new senate bill. all the c.r.a. we will see a huge spike in those numbers for those who will lose coverage one way or another be they priced out of the market or dropped or what have you under either

republican proposed bill so add numbers just don't lie we have people saying for either side politicians lie people lie numbers just don't lie we can see a sharp trend of more people benefiting from the existing law then those that it actually hurts and conversed lee we can see a trend of millions more who will be adversely affected if the ac is done away with a ca it's imperfect yes we can all agree a based on these numbers it hurts less than anything else that's being put on the table now that has brought us to an ideological crossroads in america we're either going to have government in or government out of health care thanks manila and for more on that we're joined tonight by mitch caesar former florida democratic state party chair and also former member of the d.n.c. executive board the politics so this is going to get a heck of a lot uglier before this is all cleared up but we really are mitch your thoughts on being at that ideological crossroads right now how would you summarize it you know

health care this is going to hurt and frankly the crop of democrats who are up for reelection in eighteen this will help our troops a smart guy about politics he's not a policy guy even if he may pretend to be some time but this is definitely going to be a problem also those folks in nursing homes two thirds of all the people in nursing homes nationally get medicaid that somebody is uncle that somebody is parent this stuff is going to wash it's going to cost them what one of the selling points that i keep hearing from the democrats is that they are connecting this health care debate to tax cuts and i view them as two totally different issues they're going to give the tax cuts because whether they get health care or not because they've been trying to reduce the corporate taxes in this country in the taxes for the wealthy for a long time what's the best selling point for the democrats it seems like if they're just in a waiting game and watch the republicans run this clock out and not accomplish

anything they might be in a pretty good spot but it isn't it somewhat disingenuous to connect it to a tax policy. well the tax cut issue probably polls ok but it's really not the entire situation the entire situation is people want to know how it's going to affect them do they want tax cuts for the rich no maybe if you could link it to the fact that twenty two million people going to lose coverage fifteen million will lose coverage immediately next year if you could talk to the human aspect you know bill nelson the center from florida who's up for reelection one of the folks we were just reflecting on has been showing what the face of nine coverage will be showing actual floridians and how it will affect them i think if you bring in the human touch i think that's more effective than the tax angle to be honest with you know that i have worn out a little bit image caesar great to have you with us tonight thanks so much we'll follow the story thank you aware that the senate intelligence committee held a hearing today discussing allegations of russian interference in the european
