in the never ending trail of scandals following c.n.n. today another secretly recorded video surfaced showing an on air c.n.n. host dismissing the substance behind the network's heavy coverage of russia's alleged connection to the us election it's the second undercover video in his many days featuring a c.n.n. employee discussing russia project vera toss founder james o'keefe is behind the videos r.t.c. mon del rosario has the full story tonight it's been one public relations crisis after another this week for c.n.n. first the network retracted a story that tried to draw a connection between a donald trump ally and an investigation into russian funds the story had one anonymous source and in the aftermath three reporters resigned and now this on air host and political commentator van jones caught on project veritas undercover camera saying this what do you think's going to happen this week with the russian.
11:02 pm
president you've got to really. you don't think that's a. good thing and jones you got me i have no idea what is a nothing burger but the video release comes less than two days after project farah tossed founder james o'keefe exposed another c.n.n. employee this one a producer with descriptive words about cnn's russia coverage i can't understand honestly you get a whole rush it's just like. the promise of the you know what are we doing. john. breaux for. after the first video the network released a statement saying c.n.n. stands by our medical producer jon bon a field diversity of personal opinion is what makes c.n.n. strong we welcome it and embrace it well here at r.t. we're still waiting to hear back from c.n.n. on the latest video release along with any concrete statement from the network on its retracted story the subsequent departure of three employees and attacks on its
11:03 pm
coverage of the russia trump investigation in general here's what i've been able to dig up so far late friday night c.n.n. tweeted an editor's note saying that on june twenty second c.n.n. dot com published a story connecting anthony's car mucci with investigations into the russian direct investment fund that story did not meet cnn's editorial standards and has been retracted links to the story have been disabled c.n.n. apologizes to mr starr mochi to which he replies c.n.n. did the right thing classy move apology accepted everyone makes mistakes moving on and while i'm sure c.n.n. would like it to be that easy it's not three days later three employees resigned c.n.n. money quoting a spokesman saying that in the aftermath of the retraction of a story published on c.n.n. dot com c.n.n. has accepted the resignation of the employees involved and while c.n.n. president jeff zucker has yet to address the story or the resignations according to the new york times citing a c.n.n.
11:04 pm
network employee who listen to the newsroom conference call and was granted an annuity to describe private remarks sucker said this people are trying to attack us trying to take us down our reputation is everything that is our currency and that's why we have processes in place if you don't follow those procedures you don't work here period right now these attacks are coming in part from project veritas and o'keefe whose own history is muddied with lawsuits involving the techniques of his undercover work and his attacks on mainstream media he warns are not over yet neither is c.n.n.'s frequent coverage of allegations russia hacked the u.s. election because. just one day after losing three reporters to a retracted russia story the network hosted a special documentary titled the russian connection inside the attack on democracy in washington sima dollars arielle our team our very own jesse ventura has firsthand experience in dealing with false accusations and the legal battle surrounding it ventura spoke passionately today about the lack of accountability in
11:05 pm
the mainstream media you know i had a recent court case in the american sniper where chris kyle defamed me and one of the things we sued on there was a thing called unjust enrichment while thirty two major media conglomerates in america including the new york times the washington post all of these people involved in the whole russian fang came in the various overturned the jury's verdict overturned the federal judge and even broke their own rules of arguing a new theory in front of the court of appeals they won that so it doesn't surprise me you're getting this because mainstream media today is all about making money and because of the overturning of things like i'm just in richmond will vent they can do it it's equivalent to robbing the bank you get caught robbing the bank you do two years but when you get out you get to keep the money you rob for more on all
11:06 pm
this let's turn to our political panel tonight dawn jones former georgia state representative is whether that also conservative talk show host michael medved well let me just throw this up to start with both of you tonight if there's one person on c.n.n. that does not like donald trump it is van jones and michael medved he calls it a nothing burger all this attempt to connect russia to trump hooten to trump there's nothing there so what does that signal about their operation. what if the island is like vert go ahead mike i'll start with you michael sure sure what it signals is that like most other media organizations c.n.n. is going to go where the they get ratings and where they get a response from the public and i think it's worth noting that with all of this going on c.n.n. just had the and they have numbers are out today they had the best ratings for the second quarter of this year that they've ever had in their history all across the
11:07 pm
day parts and particularly with that crucial twenty four to fifty five demographic they've done very very well and the same way that c.n.n. i thought was deeply embarrassing following that malaysian aircraft that both malaysian aircraft frankly but particularly the one that disappeared where you hear about it every day every day every day after everybody else had given up on the story i think they're going to continue writing this russia story where again it is it is a serious matter if there was an attempt and any cooperation by people in the trunk campaign to subvert american democracy of course it's serious but we have for goodness sake as special counsel who supposed to be investigating it now let him do his job look the lid on how big a problem is this for c.n.n. . well i definitely think that it's going to make for you or be weary right once you keep hearing the repeated reports of fake news fake news it's made even me say well let me look a little bit deeper into this issue however c.n.n.
11:08 pm
has a reputation that is going too far out live donald trump we can't get mad at people like van jones and others we know these folks have opinions but it wasn't until recent times when you have a president like donald trump who says things that are so our rate is that now people are starting to lower their standards and will recover but they're going to have to make sure that they're keeping us focused on things that people truly do care about well that's the big question is it about what people are going to watch the sensation of it or the importance of it i mean how do you feel about the c.e.o. saying get back to russia get on russia doesn't that shake the confidence of course it destroys all journalistic credibility in my opinion i mean you have to do what's important to the people not just what people are going to watch your thoughts on that lead on well if same now that russia is important to the people there is a large segment of america that really cares about getting to the truth of the story i think the problem is that c.n.n.
11:09 pm
and many of the reporters are chasing after every single tweet that donald trump has and that is a problem that is not what this isn't about trump this is about what seem inputs on the air unsubstantiated reports sources that they apparently can't back up with all these investigations going on in there is nothing very yet and it's been a year michael and it is about trying well. it's about his campaign possibly being connected to russia but being when there's no new news there and they're told to stay on it and then they get caught putting something on the air that simply isn't true michael where does this take the network. where it takes the network as to where they were today today they were making a huge deal about president trump having said that an irish reporter in the white house had a nice smile honestly i was watching c.n.n. a little bit earlier today and they spent hours on this alleged outrage now again
11:10 pm
was it art full in the greatest moment from spreads then to history no but it was a normal human reaction to a reporter that he noticed who was in there and he mentioned it to the irish prime minister and to truth this is some kind of criminal activity just seems to me is suggestive that this is a network with a vendetta and finally led on is this a network with a vendetta against the president i think you have two parts i think you have a network that recognize this is important responsibility of continuing to investigate look for and report things that continue to come up had c.n.n. not continued to push on certain things it would have been a problem on the other if you have a network whose feelings were hurt and now they're trying to make sure that they are following along with the fake news and prove that they're not but i think they're following into a whole that shows that some of the things aren't completely correct ok well what they're telling us and what is behind the scenes certainly don't match up with dawn jones and michael medved great to have both of you with us tonight thank you. the
11:11 pm
g.o.p. senate health care bill continues to face hurdles as more and more senate republicans are come out against it majority leader mitch mcconnell can't seem to get his own party on board while many of the senators face upcoming midterm elections and states benefiting from medicaid expansion manila chan it's been following the story and brings us the numbers and they are big numbers right at this week we've talked a lot about the politics of the g.o.p. proposal but that kind of becomes a political football and that gets punted to the left and to the right so tonight. i thought we should examine just the numbers see what they look like apart from the c.b. over port which the white house released criticism telling people not to trust it first remember when the president elect trump said this. you know we have to cover people that can afford it that's what i'm talking about and we'll probably have block grants of medicaid back into the states and we'll do things because there are
11:12 pm
people who can afford it and nobody's going to be dying on the streets with the president trump we want to take care of everybody well now president trump seems to be doing the exact opposite of what he campaigned on by supporting both the house health care bill from just a few weeks ago to now the senate bill both which impose drastic cuts to medicaid across the entire country take a look here this graph from the c.d.c. shows the percentage of insured and uninsured americans in medicaid expansion states as well as those in non expansion states from two thousand and thirteen to twenty sixteen uninsured people in the expansion states year over year were able to get insured either through a public option or private now from twenty thirteen the first year the a c eight opened and roll it all the way up to twenty sixteen the number of uninsured in expansion states were literally cut in half that is a very significant shift under the a c. a even those in non expansion states saw benefits with the number of uninsured
11:13 pm
seeing a slight drop there too and across the country states who participated in medicaid expansion under obama care all saw a huge drop in the rate of uninsured bringing their number whelm below the national average of twelve point four percent states like california washington minnesota iowa wisconsin all across the rust belt benefit from that expansion states that didn't participate in medicaid expansion have numbers significantly higher than the national average states like texas oklahoma georgia north carolina and this projection right here now numbers of those under age sixty five who would be uninsured under either the house bill the h.c.a. or the new senate bill. all the c.r.a. we will see a huge spike in those numbers for those who will lose coverage one way or another be they priced out of the market or dropped or what have you under either
11:14 pm
republican proposed bill so add numbers just don't lie we have people saying for either side politicians lie people lie numbers just don't lie we can see a sharp trend of more people benefiting from the existing law then those that it actually hurts and conversed lee we can see a trend of millions more who will be adversely affected if the ac is done away with a ca it's imperfect yes we can all agree a based on these numbers it hurts less than anything else that's being put on the table now that has brought us to an ideological crossroads in america we're either going to have government in or government out of health care thanks manila and for more on that we're joined tonight by mitch caesar former florida democratic state party chair and also former member of the d.n.c. executive board the politics so this is going to get a heck of a lot uglier before this is all cleared up but we really are mitch your thoughts on being at that ideological crossroads right now how would you summarize it you know
11:15 pm
president obama was was a pretty smart cookie he had said specifically that it's going to be very tough to repeal this type of material what has happened pretty much is the fact that all these trump states are going to lose coverage and because of that just came out the other a little couple of hours ago the republican senator from west virginia was trump one thirty percent of her constituents are on medicaid you know. that's not the it's as as just reported by preceding my carry so much if the republicans screw this up is this going to walk the democrats into seats in the midterms is it that big. i think it is i mean we looked at a special election last week that republicans won and what we realize is democrats as you just can't keep complaining about trump talk about issues specifically
11:16 pm
health care this is going to hurt and frankly the crop of democrats who are up for reelection in eighteen this will help our troops a smart guy about politics he's not a policy guy even if he may pretend to be some time but this is definitely going to be a problem also those folks in nursing homes two thirds of all the people in nursing homes nationally get medicaid that somebody is uncle that somebody is parent this stuff is going to wash it's going to cost them what one of the selling points that i keep hearing from the democrats is that they are connecting this health care debate to tax cuts and i view them as two totally different issues they're going to give the tax cuts because whether they get health care or not because they've been trying to reduce the corporate taxes in this country in the taxes for the wealthy for a long time what's the best selling point for the democrats it seems like if they're just in a waiting game and watch the republicans run this clock out and not accomplish
11:17 pm
anything they might be in a pretty good spot but it isn't it somewhat disingenuous to connect it to a tax policy. well the tax cut issue probably polls ok but it's really not the entire situation the entire situation is people want to know how it's going to affect them do they want tax cuts for the rich no maybe if you could link it to the fact that twenty two million people going to lose coverage fifteen million will lose coverage immediately next year if you could talk to the human aspect you know bill nelson the center from florida who's up for reelection one of the folks we were just reflecting on has been showing what the face of nine coverage will be showing actual floridians and how it will affect them i think if you bring in the human touch i think that's more effective than the tax angle to be honest with you know that i have worn out a little bit image caesar great to have you with us tonight thanks so much we'll follow the story thank you aware that the senate intelligence committee held a hearing today discussing allegations of russian interference in the european
11:18 pm
elections senator marco rubio of florida blame russia for fomenting discontent and called the result of alleged hacking gratifying for the perpetrators a lot of people are focused on a particular elect or outcome i think the broader design was to sow instability chaos division in a country that already had great political division i don't think anybody can doubt that that's the case i mean just the sheer amount of time and energy that's been spent by this committee this congress the press and everybody else on this issue of russia alone must be deeply gratifying to the people who authorized these measures . the initial allegations there is no question that france's cyber security agency has confirmed no proof was spent on linking the attacks to any russian hacking group and russian's foreign minister sergey lavrov had strong words for the u.s. policy in syria today during a meeting with his german counterpart artie's peter oliver has that report we heard
11:19 pm
missed a lot of the russian foreign minister making a number of points and making the rather forcefully as well he said that russia would retaliate and would react to any provocations from the u.s. led coalition in syria he also said that the united states and encourage the united states not to look for a pretext in order to launch strikes against assad government forces in syria the main point the russian government is concerned that extremists in syria may attempt to launch some kind of provocation chemical attack in order to try and draw the u.s. into two air strikes now this is after the united states said that if there was a chemical attack they would launch further attacks themselves against the assad government this is something of course that is deeply worrying to the russian government that was voiced by sergei lavrov we can hear what he said right now.
11:20 pm
the u.s. experts and they say openly thanks to use these claims by washington might prove occasions and shift the blame on so the syrian government. well served a level of also went on to say that once again the russian federation called upon the united nations chemical weapons watchdog to launch a full investigation into what happened in a glib not so long ago that prompted the airstrikes from the well the missile strikes from the united states on a syrian air base he said the investigators from the o.c.p. w. haven't actually been to the scene of the alleged chemical attack in that they were making their assumptions from far away you called on them to be allowed to go there and carry out a full investigation now there was a message also that came from certain gay lover of saying that russia was extremely concerned dates back in the early to thousands the u.s.
11:21 pm
bush administration had falsified information in order to launch a war in iraq and that they wanted to make sure that the same thing wasn't being done in syria and that's we couldn't see we are not going to see a repeat of well be the terrible scenes we saw in iraq they're still in disarray right now to see those scenes repeated in syria a number of very major points from the russian foreign minister there as he was south along side his german counterpart in cross in the dark. and connecting to that story nato allies france of the united kingdom have pledged to support an american strike on syrian government forces in retaliation for any chemical attacks . looks at what's behind the u.s. threat towards syria bashar al assad has one really bad habit and that habit is and you need does this when he's winning. he ruins everything by
11:22 pm
doing something really stupid for no reason at all. take acids army now they're crushing slavek state liberating vast swaths of syria and out of the blue comes this the united states has identified potential preparations for another chemical weapons attack by the saddam regime as sad knows the probable cause and sequences of a chemical attack it's the only thing really right now that could ruin him by giving his enemies the opportunity of a pretext to attack him why would he do it because he's evil the murderous syrian dictator bashar assad has been a brutal dictator bashar al assad's a murderous regime in syria assad is the worst kind of brutal war criminal a classic super villain boof stupid and evil beyond any logic the kind
11:23 pm
of villain batman would go off to and and merica is batman. if mr assad conducts another mass murder attack using chemical weapons he and his military will pay a heavy price britain is already on board if i ask how does something really dumb for new reason again the u.k. will join the us in punishing him we think it's absolutely right if we can to prevent the use of chemical weapons and we will fully support any u.s. action if you've been following events in syria recently you knew they aren't hitting the united states has attacked assad five times in what they see is self-defense problem is justifying the prolonged conflict isn't easy what's the vote is do. one to another gun who bombing campaign they learn
11:24 pm
their lesson after the first few times the international community sick of reckless interventions and you me thing left is to wait for asaad to give them a cause and since he's a comic book supervillain well it's just the parts of the script. venezuelan authorities are on the hunt tonight for a rogue police officer accused of attacking the country's supreme court today the officer opened fire on the interior ministry from a stolen helicopter before dropping grenades president nicolas maduro has declared the attack an act of terrorism artie's bridgie to santos as the story officer oscar perez reportedly led the attack on government buildings in caracas on tuesday like a helicopter stolen from the locker lot a military base over the interior ministry and supreme courts from the air fifteen
11:25 pm
rounds were fired and four grenades were launched at least one other passenger was seen in the helicopter during the attack and more accomplices may have been involved pres an officer in venezuela's largest national police agency is also a film actor which might be why the bold attack looks like something right out of a hollywood action movie the disturbing events have stirred up confusion about his motives before the attack pres shared this video on social media we demand you president nicolas maduro morris your immediate resignation and together with your ministry a group and to immediately call for general elections we have two choices be judge tomorrow by or the luncheons and the people are begin today from this corrupt government is your words of god our mission he said live to serve our people all the way down this way. some reactions from mainstream media in the west include this one from the washington post and which the act is referred to as
11:26 pm
a quote protest flight but president maduro says the act is part of an ongoing coup attempt carried out by his enemies the well though but all that said and i'm going to get me to believe you're an army forces defend their right to get rid of and be sure that earlier rather than later we will capture the helicopter not that i'm going to be that's on a terrorist attack against the institutions of the country i can go down in this territory and i demand that you will be able to build a global unity with you to get them there is my only. no injuries were reported in the attack and perez has yet to be found since april at least seventy five people have been killed in violent clashes between government and opposition forces with thousands more injured or imprisoned according to social media reports over the past week at least three people accused of supporting the government have been burned alive by masked militants the country's economic crisis has left many people
11:27 pm
without food scrambling for resources tuesday's attack is the latest and most disturbing example of the growing unrest some in the country accused of staging the attack to justify increasing security crackdowns and the door accuses the cia of backing pres and encouraging a coup with the july thirtieth vote looming ahead there is still no clear path to peace in los angeles proceeded santos r.t. . the next time you travel on a commercial airliner you may want to consider the air you were breathing and according to the c.d.c. air passengers are exposed to increased levels of radiation new research from stirling university is warning of the possible pollutants in the airplane cabin air artie's trinity chavez with the story. millions of people travel on airplanes every single day now a new study is cautioning frequent flyers the study reveals that passengers may be exposed to toxic fumes in train the cabin which can have some serious effects on
11:28 pm
your health because on nearly every jet the air used to pressurize the cabin and the air you breathe is a wreckage from the engines it's called bleed air and in the engine the oil there is an additive called tri crustal phosphate also known as t.c.p. so if there is the slightest oil leak that could mean fumes in the cabin the cabin air inhaled by the crew members and pilots and passengers on commercial planes has been linked to several alarming health concerns everyone has been. leaking oil truth direct from the engine into the yes supply. and some of us will become impaired and some may become you know on well short term or even long term and that's when i study very clearly shard researchers who are in stirling university also found a clear pattern of acute and chronic symptoms ranging from headaches and dizziness to breathing and this is the problems the airline industry needs to start taking notice because this is you know an acceptable to use the system you wouldn't hide
11:29 pm
the fumes from your exhaust in your car into the cabin is essentially what they're doing taking me. from the compressor study john to be engine feeding it through into the cabin for the passengers to bring according to the report over three point five billion passengers were exposed to low levels of engine oils in two thousand and fifteen however a spokesperson for the international air transport association says airlines are complying with requirements and a statement to r.t. he said the safety of passengers and crew is of paramount importance to the air transport industry there have been substantial studies on cabin air quality over recent years which have guided regular. in the same area regulators monitor cabin air quality to ensure safety and airlines comply with their requirements and a press release the european aviation safety agency also conducted two studies investigating the air quality for commercial air transport and determined that
11:30 pm
a contributing link between exposure to cabin or cockpit air contaminants and health symptoms is unlikely reporting in new york trying to chavez r.t. . thanks for watching we'll see you tomorrow. on larry king now it's. what's with the glass. but i'll take them off as soon as you are through one of your hard hitting questions. you're leaving silicon valley was. because. it was the right time it too big for the i know. there's no way the show is going to change and become better you didn't get the choice to be brought into this life but every man every woman.
