i'm larry king and you are watching our t.v. america question more. look. it's called the feeling of freedom in the for everyone in the world should experience flamingo and you'll get the role in. the film or old according to a gesture. from our world come along for the ride. in case you're new to the game this is how. the economy is built around corporations corporations run washington the washington post media the media. and voters elected the businessman to run this country business equals power who
10:30 pm
must it's not business as usual it's business like it's never been done before. well i'm john berman in washington d.c. and here's what's coming up tonight on the big picture the integrity of our democracy is a big topic these days just how vulnerable is our election system to x. alaska actor and activist mimi kennedy in just a moment and republicans have found a way to make trump care even worse and the sickest americans are going to pay the
10:31 pm
price more on that in tonight's rumble with julio rivera and alex was. the safety and security of americans elections is top news right now but one of the biggest threats to the integrity of our democracy is not getting the coverage it deserves although they were originally supposed to be the new frontier of democracy electronic voting machines have now fallen out of favor with most election integrity experts and for good reason do not only electronic voting machines are vulnerable to hackers they're also the perfect tool for anyone trying to steal an election and it all has to do with something called fraction magic for more on that i'm joined now by mimi kennedy star of the stevia sit com mom activist and board chair of progressive democrats of america mimi welcome back. thanks
10:32 pm
a lot tom it's great to be with you it's great having you with us so many what exactly is fraction magic and why should we be worried about it. fraction magic is the name that bev harris gave to something that a code writer named bennie smith out of memphis discovered in databases that bevan black box voting had obtained as a result of court cases bennie smith found that there was fractional counting in our vote counting software this was for de balled which is a global election management systems gems database he didn't know what it was doing there you shouldn't need fractions for one person one vote when you have banking software yeah you need cents on the dollar not for voting so he exploited it by writing a little program that he dubbed fraction magic and he assigned percentages
10:33 pm
to races that he wanted to have the outcome be pre-determined and then he loaded it into the database and it was there invisibly and it changed the results since then i remember being on this show and talking about it before there's a demonstration in a video called for action magic on black box voting and youtube where you can see how this works but the big breakthrough i think and what i'm here to tell you is may sixteenth there was a capitol hill hearing with cyber experts ex cia had james woolsey these aren't tinfoil hat people and james scott of the institute for cyber security technology said the payload that a hacker including the hackers of twenty sixteen be they russians or be they posing as russians or whoever it was the payload that the hackers would have delivered after getting all this phishing data voter registration was he said a fractional program based on decimal counting so there are so just
10:34 pm
to to break this down to point english in. and you've done a pretty good job of that so far but just so i really understand if if i had the ability to insert this software into say a bunch of voting machines in georgia which don't even have paper trails and can't be audited and i wanted to and i and i'm running against john os off and there's three counties and i know one of those counties is heavily republican one is heavily democratic i could calibrate that software so that in the republican leaning area everybody's vote counts for like a vote one point three votes and in the democratic leaning area everybody's vote counts for like point seven votes is that what you're talking about yes yes exactly and you think oh how nefarious go back to the three fifths rule and the constitution we've been there are a slave could count as three fifths of
10:35 pm
a person so that your state could be more populous and have more representatives in the house of representatives this is we're back to fractionalized people and it's based on who you want to win republican and democrats if you have ethnic and race data for a precinct they can do this as benny smith said with a high amount of precision now and the cyber security guy you know wouldn't wouldn't the give away be. when the election results come out. in this county thirty seven thousand point two votes i mean as soon as you see a decimal point when yeah well how do they get how do they cover that up and do we have any evidence that these techniques have actually been put into practice what what recent elections appear to have been flipped this way. well benny found the fraction magic by finding a sloppy piece of a database where there was
10:36 pm
a point thirty one or something in writing results that's yes that's how he found it he went oh my god and started to look and found it it's called double numbers in accounting which he knew and he went and looked and found it double numbers you could change it all the decimals so yes it can be left over if you're sloppy and here's the other thing that people have seen that they it is evidence that fraction magic would be at work but we can't do forensics because counties won't let us do it they don't want to because it is sloppy and perhaps they don't want to be caught as criminal but the kind of thing we saw in the presidential was somebody would have two thousand votes and then suddenly they wouldn't have those two thousand votes and that would be the program trying to catch up and apply the right percentage to the winner and the loser and somehow you know momentary landslide
10:37 pm
for the person they didn't want to win did happen and i think it happened in georgia because in full county in the april eighteenth the election which had many candidates and if any of the candidates had gotten over fifty percent there would not have been a runoff well went over fifty percent in fulton county and suddenly there was a glitch the tabulating went down for about two hours on what's wrong oh it's it's fixed fixed and when the tabulating began again asaf went down steadily below fifty percent and never went over fifty percent again my guess would be that that was a bad guess on fraction magic and somebody had set the percentage for karen handel to low and there was a big bump for john asaf that took move fifty percent which you. never that wasn't supposed to happen so that's a timing problem as the cyber security guy james scott said this def gets pretty
10:38 pm
sophisticated pretty quickly but not all of that the usage is sophisticated and when that happens you see these glitches but they're called glitches and we have not been able to do we activists or anybody forensics although there's a lawsuit in georgia because this election system did receive a hack was intruded upon and did have stuff stolen and it was left out on the web for six months and kennesaw state you was warned about it and they went no don't say anything and don't do anything and the people downtown will eat you alive don't do anything so there's a lawsuit i don't know how it will go but it's against secretary of state brian kemp and the three election registrars of boards of those three counties saying shouldn't use this stuff you should have gone to paper as we said as we beg how much how much of an outlier is the united states in that we use electronic voting machines and the rest of the world doesn't just how how widely distributed are
10:39 pm
there around the world. we're an outlier now as we are in so much alas which is why i'm sounding like a broken record i'm not going to shut up till we get the election thing straightened out but i believe that was germany that banned electronic voting saying it was against their constitution because of wasn't verifiable netherlands of course went to paper ballots last year you know one marine le pen in france it looked like there was going to be this wave of right wing nationalist xenophobes elected and other ones when i don't think we want that we're a little close to russia we don't really feel like we want to be vulnerable and they had a paper ballot election and it turned out i do believe they did not object to rightwing seen a photo. so we are an outlier member being in the. and making in the loop and telling my friends the british actors don't get electronic voting here and you'll
10:40 pm
have a progressive movement and they do have a progressive movement and i don't think they have electronic voting but we got it with the help america vote act we have to tell that history i think ignorance was a large part of that maybe even the road to hell is paved with good intentions but we have to stop it now this fraction stuff is in ninety percent of our voting and if we don't manually audit our paper ballots we can be fraction magic and every time we use touch screen with no verification whatsoever we can be fraction mansion if if i were a voter in a in a district where i suspected there had been this kind of. fraud for lack of a better word do i have any recourse is there anything that voters can do. yeah what we we and when i say we i mean the whole election integrity community nationwide which is an enormous amount of people and it's a cross party it's trans partisan there's one dreadful people to whom honesty
10:41 pm
matters and to whom one another as americans matter no matter how we were voting for ok what we asked to happen in georgia was that people would vote on paper ask for a paper ballot so we blasted this message from progressive democrats of america and you know what i found the on line application for an absentee ballot in georgia did not have an r. no reason as a check box and yet election code said n.r. no reason was a perfectly legitimate reason to ask for a paper ballot well it wasn't there in the on line form you have to say you were military you have to say you were going to be out of town there were specific reasons which you lied on you'd be committing a criminal act so you would have to go into your county office one of these three counties some of their offices and then they would direct you to a d r e they all had a direct record electronic machine there for early voting and they'd say why vote on paper but some people demanded paper anyway and karen handel's campaign the republican sent out applications for absentee paper ballots with some of their
10:42 pm
mailings and you know what happened john a loss of one on the paper absentee ballots something like four hundred thirty five to one hundred sixty one and that's nother reason we want to do forensic in georgia because if that happened on the verifiable paper we want to know was that was that our wish for democrats to vote was that karen handles wished for her people to vote on paper what happened there four to one the most for asaf than than what happened at the polls so you know it's very smelly people ask for a smoking gun and the point is who cares we know there's fractional decimal counting in our vote counting software it's bankers stop. it's bookkeeping stuff it doesn't belong in voting we are one person one vote for get one hundred one hundred search any other fraction get it out of there and we need to return to paper we need to hand audit the paper and we need to get rid of the touchscreens completely
10:43 pm
yeah this is you know they're on our way there the name for this could be the new three fifths of a person scandal i mean you know it's amazing many what i think it is i agree meaning kennedy thanks so much for being with us and i mean. thank you tom and keep up the great work coming up to republicans fundamentally not understand at the point of health care the evidence increasingly points to yes one more on that tonight's rumble with the we were there and now it's lost it's. been. rejected tonight is a comedy gold it is not defect by the corporate media. would you go after the
10:44 pm
corporations that just more your life profit over people and turn. protected tonight for me is like medicine it's like a cancer from all the stress that the news puts you under redacted tonight is your show where you can go to cry from laughing about the stuff that's going on in the world as opposed to just regular crying we're going to find out what the corporate mainstream media is not telling you about how we're going to filter it through some satirical comedic lenses to make it more digestible that's what we do every week hard hitting radical comedy news like redacted tonight is where it's. the mission of newsworthy it is to go to the people tell their side of the story or
10:45 pm
stories are well sourced we don't hide anything from the public and i don't think the mainstream media in this country can say you know i think the average viewer knows that r.t. america has a different perspective so that we're not hearing one echo chamber that mainstream media. is constantly spewing. we're not beholden to any corporate sponsor no one tells us what to cover how long or how to say that's the beauty of our to america. we give both sides. and we question more that's. not letting anything getting to bring it home to the american people. now that they have on vale the latest version of trump care three point zero there really shouldn't be any more doubt republicans just don't get the point of health
10:46 pm
care what's wrong. with me for tonight's ramble are only over a vera editorial director at reactionary times and columnist for newsmax and alex lawson executive director of social security works thank you both being with us tonight thank you so much appreciate it so let's get started the commonwealth fund has already ranked the american healthcare system dead last in the developed world and for publicans get their way it's about to get a whole lot worse with a few exceptions the new version of trump care they revealed yesterday is the same disastrous bill they put forward a few weeks ago in one way however it's significantly worse than its predecessor thanks to ted cruz that includes an amendment that would allow insurance companies to sell plans that don't include obamacare as protections and guaranteed benefits things like paying for hospitalization paying for him an emergency room paying for
10:47 pm
drugs not only is this a man break the republican party's promise to protect people with preexisting conditions it will also according to many experts and to blue cross blue shield today it will send the insurance industry into a death spiral this bill really does keep getting worse worse and. worse as we go on is the fundamental problem for republicans here the fact that they're trying to conform their policies to the lies they've spread over the last seven years about obamacare will listen their it's not lies the fact of the matter is obamacare itself was going to collapse under its own weight there's no old we would just find most places doing it this way no there's no way to sustain it's doing just as i and people with preexisting conditions should pay more are you just going to show up in side up for insurance when you get sick the people that are penalize are the people who are not maintaining insurance for a significant part a significant amount of time and let's say you know as far as if you're a young person the young people that the liberals love to hoard these guys these
10:48 pm
are your constituency these are the people they got screwed the hardest under obamacare because of these mandatory minimum standards if you're a young person in this country you used to be able to get a catastrophic policy that was a fraction of what insurance costs for us a young person now would rightly so as you get a car accident you go bankrupt for the rest of your life while listen at least you get coverage you may go bankrupt i don't think that people are going to get turned away but if you just show up sick with you know with a disease if you don't take care of yourself these sorts of things you should have to pay more time it just makes common sense in medicine in this country is a for profit industry and it's good that it is because if not the level of care that we would get and the candidates that would become doctors would go down significantly which would hurt everyone yes those those countries that don't pay doctors millions of dollars have huge doctor shortages we've all noticed that alex your thoughts i mean your set up was just proven point after point by.
10:49 pm
that that diet savvy the point is no they republicans do not understand what a health care system is if you do not understand they do not under. stand no you don't understand economics you don't understand that it is our out of control health care spending that is unsustainable that's the excess cost cost growth and when everything anything to read look listen i sat there while you spouted your nonsense and self-contradictory things so why don't you let me talk about this what if you go just condesa make yes yes really go ahead i will i will go ahead trump care is not a health care bill see here is the truth the truth is obamacare is a republican idea at heart it is premium support it is just subsidies to buy private insurance and what julio has shown very clearly is that when you give the
10:50 pm
republicans what they want by preconceived ing on their easy otic ideas like trump like premium support romney care then what you get is somebody who comes in the coolio who doesn't even know you that way and he said you know that i need a burning down to the ground you know where you live your leo's and that which is why julio the only thing that we can do now is fight for what we want which is health care as a right improved and expanded medicare not cover everybody joined the rest of the civilized world is very going to do little good to the hair nocturnes let alone that they have to serve people that they have to work under certain conditions you know how expensive it is to go to school and become a doctor you're going to know that it will disable you turn or run me on care than any other country in the world and we get dozens are really expensive in our allan tree because of regular gas we get worse care for that money no you don't know
10:51 pm
that probably because it's so it's credibly expensive because we have to comply with so much regulation except that you're just spouting your talking points you have no by the dealer talking point out your job here bhalo ok then all being intelligent or by the. you're not give me a hard data yet give me a hard but i will guess i will you tell me why does it stand the drug that is used to treat prostate cancer why does that cost one hundred forty thousand dollars a dose why does that i don't agree with that listen i agree with you there's a lot of profiteering in the business but there's a lot of profiteering because it's over regulated and the how is that how does it is it all design how is that over make you lay the big companies in palmer and limit any competitors that's what's really going on and obamacare was the heart of that. it's difficult to argue with a non understanding of the situation you are right that there is out of control
10:52 pm
corporate influence in our health care system big pharma charges whatever they want we pay to develop the drugs and then get charged the highest in the highest praise i believe i'm just bad i think only a they all nailed it when i said we have it or probably also i don't like the republican version of the other americans don't like speaking of what we don't like americans don't like oligarchy a new associated press survey has found that a whopping eighty two percent of americans think wealthy people have too much influence here in washington d.c. and presumably in state capitals as well sixty nine percent say so about large businesses sixty five percent say so about a lobbyist fifty nine percent say so about wall street based on those numbers it would seem that there's a fairly wide consensus in american politics against the very institutions that the republican party exists to serve no america fundamentally a progressive nation alex i don't i don't believe it is we're a free nation this is a big this is a nation that the backbone of this nation is the small business where i do agree to
10:53 pm
a big influence in this country i believe we have to make things easier for smaller people the little guy you know you want to make the walls talk about republican values i'm a conservative i believe in helping the little guy the small business owner to three person ben and then will you join me in calling for a rollback of ronald reagan's one thousand nine hundred three decision to no longer enforce the sherman antitrust act and start breaking up companies in any industry that is dominated by fewer than five companies well listen we did the bottom line yes or no there are too there's too much power yet right at the top but it that's what i'm saying and literally every industry in america we have do our police trial please quote i'm pleased we do and why and it went wrong that one yeah i shall accept sorry i. didn't get you in here. i have a hard time talking with julio but you know do americans think that there's too
10:54 pm
much concentrated power and money in the few yes because there is too much concentrated power and money in the hands of literally dozens of people who have corrupted the entire political system to just create an upward redistribute redistribution of wealth from my pocket into their swiss bank account so they get another go on the road as you never talk about george soros if you look into it you'll find that you're just acting as the dupe for the people who you say no you're in there about as are the policy it is that your proposing your fighting for with all your fire and venom for freedom and the little guy are limited by the billionaires lot of the cigar the father joe so there they can go and spend boodles of money laughing the whole way to the bank that people like you to believe that you're fighting for the little guy when you're doing their dirty work won the presidency and the republicans have majorities because of the working class that won an opportunity comes from why the running class because this is true whether
10:55 pm
the problem ran a hundred a month from said he was going to take out the bankers he was going to break up the big banks remember and say they are killers these. days ago just diggle who does not do anything to the back enough of them and all he said he was going to he was said he was going to stand up for labor and said he is destroying labor he said he was going to start stop the hemorrhaging of jobs overseas his daughter's clothing line doesn't have a single thing made in the united states and i have no plans to know why because this totally same list of because the regulations that were put in place before you because i got i get at that anybody who is dancing to the tune of the right wing billionaires wants to always go to regulation because the right wing billionaires by and large because regular make more money on compete are made good money hard days and he doesn't afford with their philosophy goals and so yeah we don't want to be regulated but but nobody's buying it julio nobody. pine an american over the way art in the country bought it and that's why we have presidential no the majority of the country actually voted for hillary clinton you have him you have president
10:56 pm
trump because the clinton campaign failed us and we're going to have as we go on in california and see how many illegal votes there were yeah the run no none. please find one ok moving along at a bastille day celebration in paris than a donald trump and french president emmanuel mccall celebrated the unbreakable bond between the united states and france but on thursday for trump was far less committal about another important geopolitical issue of the future of the paris climate accord which we pulled out of in june. something could happen with respect to the paris accord we'll see what happens but we will talk about that over the coming period of time. and if it happens it will be wonderful and if it doesn't that will be ok too. so trump is playing with the apocalypse here we have one minute left real quickly. alex it it is
10:57 pm
it's just a disaster i mean what down trump is done is abdicated american leadership on this issue just like he has on so many others such just you know another week non leader that we're seeing from donald trump who listen this is all demagoguery the heritage foundation came out with a study that says under the paris climate agreement we would have lost two hundred thousand jobs from two thousand and sixteen to twenty four in the heritage foundation's always right salient dollars if they grow what they're doing they take that billionaire money from those fuel billionaires and they just spent the last seven million manufacturing jobs under barack obama we need to do things to create jobs not take them away julio rivera alex lawson thank you guys both and that's the way it is tonight and don't forget democracy is not a spectator sport get out there get active tag.
10:58 pm
10:59 pm
i think the average viewer just after watching a couple of segments understands that we're telling stories there are critics can't tell when you know why because their advertisers won't let them. in order to create change you have to be honest you have to tell the truth parties able to do that every story is built on going after the back story to what's really happening out there to the american public what's happening when a corporation makes a pharmaceutical chills people when a company in the environmental business ends up polluting a river that causes cancer and other illnesses they put all the health risk all the
11:00 pm
dangers out to the american public those are stories that we tell every we can you know what they're working. a raise. a. think nobody's talking about their own trump is the best thing to have about what happened was three in twenty years because is the moment he took the oath of office . no one had to undergo a word about wall street pillaging the world and was great loves it when no one talk about wall street or. the like tyler durden by gov they are there they love it as long as no one's talking about wall street they can all just go about robbing
11:01 pm
the country blind it also like tyler durden wall street has an army of autumn aton cyborgs wreaking mayhem so pretty similar as what is gonna trump is running around the white house like a like a like of bull in a china shop just goofing world leaders or whatever the. whatever he's doing is what is best going on wall street can just keep pillaging without doing without a good idea being secretive about it any more they just like pull a brinks truck up to the stock exchange's like a reward money and no it doesn't matter no the truck just tweeted that the canadian prime minister can suck his dick nobody. nobody cares what we're doing and of course trump has put goldman sachs in charge of the economy and president obama did the same right he put it put tim geithner in charge because the banks run this country and if you're like me you think there's anybody going to do anything to stop you.
