cruises the b.b.c. coverage of the briggs it process and of ignoring positive stories about leaving the e.u. . i cannot. recall a single. times when i have seen good economic news that the b.b.c. didn't describe despite. any allegation households with u.s. lawmakers as a leaked memo suggests brussels is preparing retaliation if washington pushes ahead with new anti russia signs and that could hurt european businesses. plus some members of the french president's party demanded legal action amid concerns emanuel micron is becoming ever more authoritarian that as his ratings see
10:01 am
a dramatic drop in just one month. it's five o'clock here in moscow and you're watching altie international from austria was in a day or two to welcome to the program eks international trade secretary liam fox has accused the b.b.c. of willfully ignoring positive news on the briggs process the claim came in a letter to the broadcasters director general however he's already voiced his concerns before. to tell you in the newspaper or listen to the radio t.v. the story is done very negatively it almost is going to be impossible for us to do these trade deals if you look we spoke of rome undermines the work he's doing you. mr speaker it does appear that some elements of our media would rather see britain

feel than seabrooke to succeed. and i i cannot recall a single time in recent times when i have seen good economic news that the b.b.c. didn't describe us despite rick's. well he says that the b.b.c. is putting a damper on things economically he says that when his press team calls up the b.b.c. news desks offering positive stories about brags that they choose not to cover them and he says that that's hampering his ability to strike international trade deals which is of course the influxes job as international trade secretary for the british government has taken stock with a particular phrase that b.b.c. headlines often feature these two words despite brags that suggesting an element of surprise from the b.b.c. team that the country hasn't been crippled economically by its decision to leave the e.u. we've done a bit of research ourselves hare and we've counted dozens of b.b.c.
10:03 am
had lines online featuring this phrase despite brags that since the vote took place last june of course liam fox he's a massive pro brags that he's one of the chief brags it is here in the british government so his letter to the b.b.c. has really riled up the pro e.u. campaigner in the u.k. one liberal democrat politician hair has accused him of acting like a tinpot dictator they've accused him of trying to blame the b.b.c. for his own failures as international trade secretary in trying to strike those deals the influx isn't the first big politician here in the u.k. to express. of course dismissed all of these allegations of bias they said that they don't
10:04 am
recognize the characterization of the coverage outlined in this letter and perhaps explaining some of the gravitas with which they approach these briggs's headlines they have said that no walk in my station takes coverage of the economy more seriously. any delegations currently holding crunch talks with u.s. lawmakers it comes as a leaked memo suggests brussels is proprietary if washington pushes ahead with new onto russian sanctions that could hurt european businesses kate has the details. this is all about an internal note which was which has been leaked from the european commission which indicates just how unhappy the brussels is over the prospect of new sanctions against russia because of the implications that they have for the u. and what the nie says is that the european commission is prepared to and i quote is hit back at the u.s. within days if this agreement goes through and also if it leaves european energy and other companies vulnerable to u.s.
10:05 am
interference and let's look at the range of what the sanctions will affect we're looking at energy which is the big one really but beyond that there's also the financial industry there's also railways the shipping there's metals as mining but the big beef here is all about energy or oil and gas but in particular gas and the way that russia supplies lots of energy gas to central europe and in particular to germany and we've heard before from europeans about they they're not happy about the prospect that these sanctions could go through because they control effectively how europe does business and also with whom as we can hear you cannot accept the u.s. route to impose sanctions that violate international law and afflicted european companies involved in the expansion of europe's energy supply europe the supply is a matter for europe i'm not the united states of america it's up to us to decide who supplies us with energy and how according to rules of openness and market competition that must not happen we generally reject sanctions with extraterritorial fact meaning and impact on third countries if heard from the kremlin spokesman dmitri prescott who also concur to that point of view that says
10:06 am
that these sanctions her third parties so we're talking about countries other than russia we consider that continuing sanctions rhetoric counterproductive it is damaging the interests of our two countries and also potentially damaging the interests of other states with which russia has trade and economic relations developing despite all the negative tendencies well in the meantime we've heard from european commission your highness holland who says that there's a european commission delegation in washington right now talking with the house of representatives because they'll be voting on this issue on tuesday so that just shows you how seriously how worried europe is over this new set of sanctions. well let's discuss this further now with martin mccauley author and political analyst he joins us live now thanks for joining us here on the program martin now do you expect the european commission delegation to change u.s. lawmakers mind ahead of the voting on new sanctions. it's unlikely because there's a majority in the house of representatives for increased sanctions and there's also
10:07 am
majority what is passed it's expected to go through tomorrow then will go to the senate and there's a majority already in the senate for increased sanctions so it looks as if it's a done deal from the american point of view and all the all the european commission officials can say is this is going to damage us because one of the things that. the americans will target will be the construction of the gas pipeline from russia to germany through the baltic states through the baltic sea and they put pressure on german companies to slow that down and so on and they do they don't really favor that going ahead so therefore if you like the americans are going to put pressure on the european union and european union will protest and say it's our business we're doing business with the russians we need the energy from russia and that america doesn't do very much business with russia so therefore it doesn't really
10:08 am
affect you but it affects us the european union effected this because german is very german and italian companies also french companies are very keen to get back to normal relations with russia so they can do they can do business as before with russia but the americans the house of representatives and senate want to tie. president doesn't strike trump try and tie him down put him in a box so he can't really relax initiations on his own they're trying to in fact bring in legislation which really allow congress to decide on whether any thanks that's committed increased or decreased and saw and not the president and the president doesn't like that but all the evidence is that he will not in fact veto this deal that you have to go along with it i mean you know you mentioned one of the essential. points here in the us haven't been affected by the sanctions as much
10:09 am
as europe or are affected and will be effective if it continues and if sanctions are approved and as you said they could be in increased sanctions what can brussels do to retaliate and defend those business deals that they have with russia or one with russia. well they could say we're going to increase terrorist we're going to put pressure on american companies you can look at google you can look at twitter who we can look at all their activities in europe and. perhaps we will impose sanctions on them we will tax them more and so on look into their relations their monopoly position have they got a monopoly position in the european union. we're trying to restrict that but on the whole the americans have a stronger position here because they aren't really not affected their businesses except very big oil companies like exxon mobil which have been criticized for doing deals with with russian companies they didn't really affect it as much as europe
10:10 am
and europe has to in fact in fact remain fact ignore some of the sanctions because the american the house of representatives and senators who say this is legislation passed by united states and then european union they say you please vision and say well that's ok for you but it's going to cost is too much and we can't really exceed to some of these sanctions and therefore we are split here and this is the worst possible scenario because the americans and the european union should really be singing from it in song book on russia to agree on russia because you have the problem of ukraine you have the problem of syria and so on and there seems to be a widening gulf but the politics the politics of the situation is that the house of representatives of the senate one two in fact restrict president trumps ability to do any deal with russia on his own as president and you may have
10:11 am
a constitutional crisis if he in fact rejects. the will of the house of representatives and the senate and he's got to consider that because a situation his son could suddenly all. before the american for the pole for relationship brittany and so on giving evidence what relations with the russians and so on and he's a very delicate position at present so he's going along at present with the legislation which almost certainly will be passed to morrow and then will go to the senate and be passed there but it's a game of politics in america to restrict president job and unfortunately one of the losers may in fact really european union ok martin we've run out of time and for slayer's an awful lot to discuss on this issue of loss mccauley that author and political analyst thanks for joining us here on r.t. thank you for. a correspondent from russia's

away from the after the bits what have any morning i just said decided. to go wild probably for. manual micron's being accused of authoritarian rule with some party members now demanding legal action claiming that a lack of democracy within the party for moral not his arteries shall it depends. but this is another headache for president mack gone as these grassroot members of the party say that the ruling top the elite the hierarchy of his party la republica almost are actually acting democratically and the gossip members say they fear that they will have no power and no say in that party in future the proposed for members to the role of a supporter and exclude them from the government from both the local and national level well this is all over the new step two of the party and the members say that

welcome back to the program the italian prime minister has hit back at neighboring countries for the handling of you its growing migrant crisis pallo gentle and he added if he won't be intimidated by criticism from other member states for his decision to take in more effigies we will not accept lectures and still less threats such as those we have heard from our neighbors in recent days we are doing our duty and expect the whole of europe to do the same alongside italy. the warning comes after austria threatened to impose border controls and deployed troops to cut the number of migrants crossing from italy austria as defense minister stood by the move saying the country must be prepared to contain the influx if he has taken in almost one hundred thousand immigrants already this year that's over eighty percent of all migrant arrivals to europe some italian men as have already taken matters into their own hands those staging rallies to protest what they say has become an unsustainable situation as

a growing number of refugees continue to settle in the country all crew visited one such time. i've been traveling across rural parts of sicily for almost a week now speaking to locals various officials and refugees and i'll tell you what some people may not be willing to admit it but italy has really been divided by the refugee crisis there are locals war ready to welcome migrants and refugees without any preconditions but there are of course others who are willing to put their livelihoods and their concerns first their lives have been hit hard by the economic crisis and they are the ones who now end up having to accommodate the refugees the most vivid example is the mayor of a small community. he told me how he started a protest in a place that has been quiet for decades when dozens of refugees and migrants were moved into an abandoned hotel the mayor along with the locals blocked the way for
10:20 am
an alec generator that was being delivered into the hotel in an exclusive interview he explained to me why they did that. when there's no room there's no room we followed he got huge difficulties here like unemployment issues with infrastructure and health care the community does not understand how we can accept more people when we have all these problems but mr chief. disappointed with his own government just like pretty much everyone and that's the impression that i've been getting all the people are critical with the european approach in dealing with the refugee crisis the mayor told me that he believes that countries like germany and france are trying to keep up with the status quo whereas it is italy that is getting the impact of the refugee crisis and it is being left alone in dealing with this. the

e.u. betrayed italy with a problem that's not a talian per se actually it's totally european. we are at the forefront italy is where they arrive first but the european community doesn't seem to care some countries even closed their borders more of that exclusive interview with the mayor and also my trip to the abandoned hotel that's now been turned into a refugee shelter. and the full report that will be aired on r.t. international throughout tuesday. meeting of the apec group of the world's leading all produces has wrapped up in st petersburg. has been following the event plenty of positive reaction here in st petersburg as the delegates seem to be quite contented with what have they done so far in this deal for example the kuwaiti oil minister as someone marzouk said that overall compliance of oil production by the cartel and other countries was good however he indicated that curbs were
10:22 am
still possible now that was also echoed echoed by the russian energy minister alexander who said that oil producers have almost fully complied with a crude production cut deal over the last six months one of the documents of the initial pact is the declaration of cooperation which was supposed to last for six months however after careful examination the joint ministerial monitoring committee decided extended by another nine months the results from that will be evident quite soon as that period had already begun on the first of july so we'll know some results by the next time the committee meets. final day on the mikes international a show that wrapped up just outside of moscow crowds with dazzling supply and their way of aerobatics with twenty five displays showcasing
