expected better worse i think that donald trump has done worse than i thought when it comes to his own base in other words i expected to be outraged by his policy when it comes to muslims or mexicans or whatever i thought he would do more for those forgotten americans though i thought he would get infrastructure bill going but those folks to work i thought he would figure out some way to make sure that he did something that they could then feel like they were no longer forgotten i look at a guy that puts a bunch of zillionaires exist in there in the cabinet tweets about all kinds of stuff seems to be more worried about whether or not he's going to get in trouble with the law enforcement than to care about that i think is shocking so is the off message or is he might say it doesn't matter you know i think the reality is that we're in such an upside down situation that he may in fact be able to do this kind

of nonsense and still be reelected i mean it could be that people's expectations have become so low for government the political class that as long as you're on my side and say a few things i like i'll vote for you but i hope we haven't come to that point in a country i hope they'll get it will get graded based on was he able to deliver for his base not just raw meat and sentiment but jobs and opportunity and that right there right now i don't see it happening why doesn't the russian thing and stay go where it wants while we in this morass well i think because the president didn't just let the process go forward if he had let the process go forward there would have been a normal kind of investigation it's hard to know what the truth is here but i think when you fire the person investigating you it just takes the whole thing. to a level of almost a house of cards you know absurdity and drama and intrigue and then you know you're

not then able to just focus on what you supposed to do as president. in an op ed piece you recently wrote to many democrats see the russian controversy is some kind of magical get out of jail free card they insist that will be delivered from all misery as soon as the next shoe drops and trumps impeach but the truth is americans will probably have to wait until twenty twenty and then have to vote them out of office absolutely i am a good liberal most of my friends are liberals i can't tell you how delusional most liberals. talk about donald trump they think this guy is going to be impeached and half an hour they're talking about you know how to write it gets i hate to tell them you could be impeached twenty seven times a week and still be president because impeachment happens in the house the conviction and the removal from office happens in the senate and the bar is so high in the senate that no one has ever been convicted and removed ever so no party has

ever impeached its own bill clinton was impeached by republicans but he didn't leave office johnson was impeached by his opponents he didn't leave office nixon quit before his impeach nobody ever has been impeached and removed so the idea that for the first time in the history of the republic republicans this republican party is going to do something that courageous so he will probably be there till twenty twenty at least you don't think he would take on dismiss and. i think that if he did that that would actually be a game changer because at that point you start looking you start you might start seeing thousand people ten thousand people hundred thousand people around the white house saying look this is wrong you might start seeing some republicans saying hold . and second i love my party i love my president i love the rule of law you can't keep doing this stuff i think that would be a bridge too far even for this president but if he just kind of keeps up with the

tweet the tweeting and the nonsense the president mahmoud with the democrats but democrats not learning anything democrats not being self reflected democrats not asking tough questions so if it just is nonsense on both sides he might be there for eight years and then you get of onka so democrats have to start looking at what we can do better we're also not talking about jobs we're also not talking about the real issues the entire political class is off its axis and that's a dangerous situation for the country senator crewel bless the democrats recently is where they go on tour i mean that's a part of why i want to do this tourist part i want to get out there and talk to people the good thing about me is i'm not a politician i'm a guy on t.v. at the same place used to be c.n.n. you get a chance to get a sense for both sides at c.n.n. you have republicans and democrats working together every day on the air and you start realizing you know what hate to admit it but sometimes they have

a point sometimes maybe we should shut up and listen so i've had a chance to go to west virginia for c.n.n. in. the arizona mexico border i got a chance to go to michigan ferguson. everywhere i go same thing i see poverty i see addiction i see a broken criminal justice system i see high death rates every single place common pain no common purpose and it was that's that and that's the problem you have a political elite that has people fighting each other who really have more in common than we have in different we've got to go around the political people and get back to ordinary people helping each other again what's the mood of my old network which is being criticized by its president you know what's so interesting is that under pressure people were feel themselves and so different people respond different ways some people respond you know very heroically and other people get

very nervous but the center of gravity at c.n.n. is we're just doing our job we have republicans on we have democrats on the right salon to take that hitting almost every day yeah you know something some people love it and some people don't you know it's just different people have different personalities but i tell you what what president has ever been investigated by the f.b.i. and that's not news i mean you can't say he when republican subcommittees are investigating you and the f.b.i. is investigating you that we're making it up you may not like us talking about it but we're just covering the news. and abraham lincoln once the public sentiment is everything with public sentiment nothing can fail without it nothing can succeed what's the public sentiment toward washington i think right now you know it's in the toilet and swirl in an account a cock wise direction good i think people look at both parties i think you know you

may have your favorite team in this and god bless you if you do but i think most people feel like geez i remember when democrats were did i fight with those good hard working union folks as well as blacks and others what happened to that i think people look at all the. look and say listen how he be the party of lincoln the party of lincoln and the party of steve bannon that doesn't go together so i think people look at both these parties and they go they shrug their shoulders and they say i don't i don't get it and they know that their neighbors and their friends are a lot better than what they see in washington d.c. are you pessimistic or optimistic or. floating. determent the different. look i'm a ninth generation american. my parents were born in segregation my dad was born starvation and poverty i'm the first person my family that was born with all my rights recognized by the government i was born sixty eight so from the big

picture point of view you know we've had way worse to deal with as a country and we always somehow found a way to get through it i think this may be our biggest challenge but we have so much to rely on listen nobody's putting any fire hoses on me or dogs on me or any of that kind of stuff i get out there i can plead my case and i think honestly as a progressive as a liberal. i think we just drew our circle too small i think for a while we were so concerned about those groups that have been traditionally left out l g b t muslims black lives matter we were so busy trying to take care of those folks we forget there are some people who are newly getting left out people who are you know why straight males in appalachia and in the rust belt who are now they are falling off and we weren't there to catch them and in fact donald trump showed up to catch him he was rewarded for that you can't be mad if you didn't ask the girl

out and somebody else did shame on you and so we've got to take some responsibility as democrats for drawing our circle little bit too small maybe being a little bit too cocky and get back out there and engage you have an opioid painkiller epidemic that is killing one hundred americans a day you almost never hear liberals talking about it now a little bit now but you had morgues being filled up in the. red counties they had to rent in some of these little small town they had to rent freezer trucks to put the bodies from the overdoses this is going on we were talking about that truck went in there we talked about that if you're not there for people and i can be there for you so we as i think we do have an opportunity as it is for democrats to reset but just sit here talking about how bad don trump is not going to fix our party going to get health care plan that i don't know because you know. what nobody wants to be honest about is that obamacare was

romney care already had a bunch of really good republican ideas in there and they act like romney's ideas are socialism well and then the most popular parts of the obamacare are the more socialistic ones you know just like telling insurance companies you've got to let kids stay on for twenty to twenty six years although that's just pure government mandate if i love that stuff it's all these markets and all that weird stuff that the republicans said they like it's not working and so you can't make it more republican and the stuff that's the real democratic stuff or by legs it's just a mess and so i think it's going to be we're going to have to the butt heads a little bit more until somebody come forward with a good idea this year. probably in the fall later in the fall if this last little effort fails somebody will come forward will live in clude parts of obamacare will have to well listen there are some parts of obamacare

that if you try to take them away from americans now they think you were violating the constitution throw them off yeah you preexisting conditions if you're twenty six years old you can stand your parents' plan people think that's now in the constitution i mean you might have riots in the streets that's all bamma care so some stuff you can take away and when does obama fit in will he be a strong campaigner and twenty eighteen what's his role you know i've never seen anything like obama i've never read anything like obama i mean this guy is you work for i'll buy work for me and this guy is going to be loved around the world his beloved united states still whatever he does seems to flower i think he's going to do three things as best i can tell the having to only talk to him once as he left i think he's going to really try to help young people he believes in young people he's going to work on the gerrymandering the fact that you have one point three

getting addicted out to democrats and republicans can we do something to gether forget race for get class forget party and start helping people again because once you start doing that you get a bipartisanship from below we might fight all day in washington d.c. we have to fight in our communities so we're doing our family what do you do on the tour so we're going to fourteen cities we're going to get people together for about ninety minutes of pure inspiration in holes in halls and auditorium we're going to be in new york city we're going to be at the apollo and we're going to some pretty significant places we've got some surprise guests and big guy athletes come in we've got leaders coming and it's got to be ninety minutes of just pure inspiration talking about the problems from the point of view how do we rise to meet the problem not just complain about the problem and blame the other side oh you're a snowflake oh you're a bigot that's not getting anything done and so we want to get out there and just show look there are great people in all these cities doing great stuff right now

they're not waiting for washing d.c. we never talk about so we're going to get all the good problem solvers together local artists and just get people excited again and then they can be a part signed up to be a part of the love army dot org and we're going to keep it going keep it going nuff enough how much more depressive stuff can we do enough let's get back to doing positive our ticket sales going to get sales are going really well though there are still some available love army dot org and the money goes to all the ticket sales go to charity all the tickets sales either go to local charities or they go to the dream corps to keep this kind of work going on is called the love on me core you have to love army dot org the dream corps is support of people that like the love army their love army sounds to you joe with a you don't you hating on love. it's not a good test so they say that word sounds fine sometimes doesn't work yeah but

they're wrong and i'll tell you why they're wrong that mama bear. loves those cubs that mama bear she loves those cubs and you better not mess of those cubs she will do whatever she has to defend those because she's not going to come after you for no reason but don't mess with those cubs so you can have an attitude that you love america so much you'll defend it you love the muslims and you love the appalachian workers so much you'll stick up for me but you don't you can disagree in a democracy you don't have to disrespect to that's the problem you've now got to the point where if you disagree then the other person is your enemy they're stupid they're racist they're stuck up there of snowflake all these names no democracy supposed to disagree don't have disrespect and you can sometimes find a way like on criminal justice it turns out republicans don't want to raise taxes to pay for these prisons either republicans say listen we agree with you on that

well if we agree with with each other let's work together it's got to the point if i disagree with you on one thing i can't work with you on nine things that's still what you're measurement for success my measurement for success is first of all people don't believe that there is an audience out there for positive things anymore they think you have to be out there cuss and people out saying negative things calling names if we can go out there until every seat all fourteen cities and show that people are willing to come give money to charity and be a part of something good i hope it sends a message to people that we may be a peak polarization now how it how much more mad can we be and still not solve a problem so that's what the the we rise to war is try to get us back to the problem where americans were problems are no countries even trying to do what we're doing you got to some country they have to ethnic groups and they can't get along with two we did in l.a.

we have two hundred at the group and we mostly get along in my fight about this or that. we mostly get along we've got to remember that and use all of that with every kind of person ever born is here in the united states every race faith gender if you put that much wisdom together you can solve any problem so we get back to that and getting away from us nonsense politicians been heard on this we you know listen i because i'm on c.n.n. i get is you know i get a chance to talk to a lot of politicians on both sides and they pulled me off the side and they all have the same complaint we can't get anything done i know for a fact that you know eight percent agreement between republicans and democrats on a bunch of these issues but we can't get anything done so listen at a certain point you just have to state take a stand and what happens is now you take a stand and then you get beat up on twitter and you know my god i said dr king got shot in the face over this stuff you're scared of the mean tweet you can stand up

to i mean tweet what you believe come on now that's what we rise we we the people eat pluribus unum all this stuff sounds corny now because they've made sin this is a bastion of will but cynicism never want to fight it never made the country never solve the problem so we're going back to the basics good old fashioned american can do it it's going to be awesome is it all your idea it i was like is it all my idea i work with a bunch of great people but you can see i'm passionate about it because you know when you're when you watch good people it's like when your parents are divorcing you've got two good people fighting their talk of past each other both of them just as wrong as other one can't see it and you die and saying we don't have a family or not we can have a country and that's where i think i am and i'm saying we've got to be able to find the good in each other if i disagree with you on nine thing about that one can work on that one and that's how you start going to country again you know be great if

you could get. rock obama and. george bush and rove who were you can help with that they love you more they love me i want to make you be a part of love army and hope you have it wrong i got anything i can do but we need it they would be these two very popular men absolutely that's a little gotten friendly yeah i mean and they tell you what i will i had a piece of a piece of a part of a fraction of obama's job in that building. and even just that little piece of a part of a fraction changed me you think you love america you go work in the white house for two minutes and you hold this country in your arms for two minutes and realize how fragile it is how is this is real is the mark is it's just up to ordinary people you come out of that building you'll do anything for this country you have to get those you guys help us will make it go and do my best then thank you for appreciation glad you stopped by today that to be here before we go and see about
