it's monday july thirty first forty four pm in washington d.c. i'm in touch this week and you're watching our team america and we start with russia's response to a new round of sanctions imposed by the u.s. government russian president vladimir putin has announced that the u.s. embassy will have to cut seven hundred fifty five people as a result of washington's policies artie's roman kozyrev has more on moscow's comeback. new sanctions against russia are expected to be signed by president donald trump the document approved by congress aims to target the country's lucrative energy trade with partners in europe washington claims the measures are in response to alleged election meddling well moscow has already responded to another likely round of restrictions by asking the united states to cut its diplomatic staff in russia by seven hundred fifty five people by september the first just making the number of employees equal to the number of russian embassy

staff in the united states but also rochelle ordered the u.s. embassy to stop the use of some real estate in moscow like certain storage facilities and a country retreat mind you shortly before christmas the united states expelled thirty five russian diplomats and their families from washington given them just and handful of days to leave the country and they also took away access to some russian property in the united states in an interview that amir putin says that sign has come for russia to show that it will not leave us sanctions and answered. more than a thousand people but if diplomats you can technical stuff currently working in russia which are seven hundred fifty five of them or have to stop their activities and that's painful russian president also said that washington's moves are uncalled for and moreover they hurt interests of other nations but america has taken a step to jeopardize u.s. russia relations and the important thing is that that step was triggered by

anything because this is a move to impose a legal restrictions to attempt to influence other countries including u.s. allies q what would you are interested in developing ties with russia. letting your putin said that russia had been patient and is for sponsors of the actions of the united states but enough is enough. we've been waiting for quite a long time so that maybe something would chain. for the better we had hoped that the situation would change but it looks like even if it does change and it won't be in the near future quarter i decided that is time for us to show you that we will not leave anything on our own security zone and while russia's response is hardly as damaging to the two nations relationship as washington's previous actions but a mere putin is against considering further counts for measures but moscow will consider them if it needs to. of course we have more to say they're all spheres that we can restrict use for you know which would be painful for the united states

to play but i think we shouldn't do that it's only going to harm us russian relations as they are but it's also going to affect as well fatigue that will remain kozyrev reporting and for more on these sanctions we turn to daniel mcadams director of the iran institute for peace and prosperity thank you so much for joining us daniel thank you so now you wrote a very interesting article last week how i mean a few points the mainstream media isn't really touched on and before we get into your article first off the timing of this sanctions bill is very interesting because before there was no proof that russia meddled in the u.s. election but now we know that in fact information from the d.n.c. with leaked not hacked from the east coast of the united states not russia why do you think this isn't being considered. well i think that's certainly what some are suggesting i don't think we have the final answer as to what happened and i don't think many people in washington are all that awfully interested in what actually happened with the leak or the hacking or whatever it was they've established as

a fact on the ground that russia hacked our elections and so therefore nobody needs to question anymore i would be if you look at the intelligence community's report on it it's certainly not conclusive and it's not an entire product the entire intelligence community came and said now turning to your article the title now and says that these sanctions quote tums adrenaline into cold war two point zero do you think everyone in congress who voted for the sanctions think there's truth to that well i think probably a lot of the people in congress who voted for these sanctions don't know much about it and haven't read the bill or the bills aren't often read in congress but you know people in congress once again are not very well informed members of congress read the washington post the mainstream media the new york times and so they're only getting one side of the story and that side of the story is that russia hack elections are undermining our democracy and therefore if we don't act immediately something terrible happened so you know there's not a thought

a lot of thought that goes into it and there's the the there's the mistaken idea that sanctions are a harmless way of making the world do with us once it's do unfortunately sanctions often do lead to war and i think that's where this is having a right to protection to thirty one as this legislation and posing sanctions on persons who are approach engaging the question how can so tell us how you think this could impact those of us at our key in a system called for. you know this is something that stood out to me when i read the bill and it's it's one of those bills it's very difficult to read they love doing this where they have a lot of curlicues but that really jumped out to me because the cia director pompei o and others in the national security community in the united states made great efforts to suggest that our t.v. and other russian government funded media is an arm of the military or intelligence services so if you look at that language in the certain way it suggests that those

who are quote having transactions does that mean appearing on our t.v. we don't know it's vague language but there are subject to sanctions to five different sanctions by the u.s. government i think this is the beginning of the kernel of a crackdown on r.t. another russian government funded publications and and broadcasts very interesting only share hope not and in response to these sanctions russian present by mark has called for you know some seven hundred u.s. diplomats to leave russia by september first and a state department official told me says he'd practice it was a progressive one and called for actor but your thoughts on that of course it's hilarious that c.n.n. headline to ten guts u.s. embassy. in moscow when in fact i was surprised to realize there were that many u.s. government employees working at the embassy in moscow twelve hundred people so the only thing that putin has president putin has done is he's pared it down to have

parity with how many russians are operating in months in washington d.c. and it's a move that obviously he's taken reluctantly he didn't do it right away obama that was this was obama's parting shot as he left office and i think president putin gave trump plenty of opportunity to make good on his campaign promises of getting along better with russia and instead of doing that. you cons bruce of public neal because you were dead set in favor of morning good cold war two point zero and i think the sanctions world were the last straw for the russians they had to do something to retaliate and some are saying that these sanctions that violate international law and there's talk of official counter do you think the u.s. is worried. the rest of europe at this point well people in washington are expected by most don't believe. that europe will ever dare do anything and the germans have said that it's illegal that the sanctions are illegal

they certainly will hurt german companies that are trying to do business with russia you know the u.s. is forcing other countries to enforce its own laws as if somehow we make the laws for the world will the europeans break with the u.s. on this i don't know how far they're willing to go however this is another straw on the camel's back the proverbial camel's back was back brace and now president trump has not signed the sanctions into law vice president petro mounts. do you think president trump at this point will still try negotiate a better deal since as you mentioned in your article that his hands are pretty much tied in this bill and has to get permission from congress to alleviate the sanctions. well there at this point there's nothing he could do when i when i had written that i didn't realize how overwhelming the vote would be in favor of the sanctions so even a veto he thought he's sort of damned if you doesn't damage does he finds it then

you know forget his russian policy as a candidate if he doesn't sign it becomes law it shows him as as a completely weak president what i would do if i were president trump in such a box is i would not sign it i would allow it to become law and i would say that i would refuse to recognize it because i think it eclipse the president's winces constitutional authority to conduct foreign policy so kind of the resistance against congress and then try to get his own party in line that would be interesting indeed thank you so much again on mcadams director of the ron paul institute for peace and prosperity really appreciate your time. and new spiraling tensions this weekend rattling the asia pacific region china showcase new military equipment following north korea's launch of its second intercontinental ballistic missile with these developments and strong words from washington the situation around the korean peninsula is becoming more and more alarming here is r.t. correspondent ashley banks with more china's two point three million people liberation army showcased ballistic missiles strategic nuclear missiles and new

aircraft during a massive military parade in beijing on sunday the new aircraft included j. sixteen fighter jets n y twenty heavy transport aircraft both styles making their debut at the parade the army also showcased three sophisticated types of ballistic missiles and quoting ballistic missile dongfang twenty six this missile has a two thousand two hundred mile range and can be fired at a short notice and fitted with a nuclear warhead now dongfang twenty one d.l. land based anti-ship ballistic missile is described as a carrier killer sending and a pleasant signal to the us and the dongfeng sixteen g. which is a conventional missile designed for precision strikes against key enemy targets this comes right after north korea tested its second enter continental ballistic missile this time it flew straight up for about forty five minutes reaching a height of two thousand three hundred miles before crashing into the sea of japan

so far this year north korea has launched a total of fourteen ballistic missiles experts say if the missile were launched on a normal trajectory it could have possibly reach a cargo or even new york after the launch president said in a statement quote by threatening the world these weapons and tests further isolate north korea weaken its economy and deprive as people north korean president kim jong un said quote the latest tests proved r. and took intercontinental ballistic rockets reliability and the capacity to low. watch it and the surprising manner at any place and time the u.s. mainland is within our striking range experts say this is alarming as north korea continues to show technical progress however it is still unclear whether these missiles are capable of carrying nuclear warheads whatever the case with the complicated u.s. china north korea triangle the situation in the region is extremely volatile and

international solution president trump wasn't quite as international about his tweeting we have a couple of his tweets as well says i'm very disappointed in china are foolish past leaders of allow them to make hundreds of billions of dollars a year in trade yet they do nothing for us with north korea just talk we will no longer allow this to continue china could easily solve this problem now i don't know what mr trump is thinking when he thinks china could easily solve the problem this is the north korea issue obviously and when you see what's going on i mean he's really escalating the rhetoric now with china there's eve. talks of sanctions being kicked in against china and we know how reliant these two countries are u.s. and china on each other when it comes to trade we might even see steel tariffs come into play these are some of the things that we're hearing out there so that sanctions are a possibility economic some type of penalties are another possibility and this is just moving forward and forward and we're hearing from the stands we're also

hearing from shinzo abhi of japan he's also trying to tell china and russia that they need to put pressure on north korea and to join this western community of attacking though the whole issue there and putting pressure on china to deal with north korea so that seems to be the avenue of choice for the west right now and so what's china's going to be allow that. china is saying you know what this is a little bit absurd we are not north korea we are china with there's only so much we could do with north korea china has not been pleased by the way north korea's been acting and it has made itself very clear on numerous occasions but at the same time china is taking the approach works understand why north korea is doing what it's doing north korea is a country with a security issue and when you have south korea south of you plus japan just across the water and the united states saber rattling constantly at you well you're going to be afraid and you're going to be able to show whatever little bit of might you

have just to be able to sort of balance that power so what china is saying is that the approach from the united states and its allies has to be a little bit different you can't continue this way negotiations are key china wants to work with the united states to sit down at the table again with north korea trying to was the one that facilitated this in the past and they wanted to try to do it again they're saying these saber rattling especially when you see these exercises the bombers flying over south korea now japanese south korean and american planes you know just basically showing off of every time that north korea does something that this does not help the situation at all trying to think the unilateral sanctions against north korea by the united states are not helpful china says what it is doing it's playing by the u.n. resolutions and by playing by the rules it is trading with north korea as a country that we have seen in the past that deeds assistance from the outside and what that assistance we've seen sanctions time and time again they don't hurt the

government necessarily they hurt the people and i don't think anybody wants to see people starving in the street and quickly running out of time but the fact is that even with all of this posturing some in japan and the region are not quite sure about the benefit of toppling the regime in north korea what can you tell us about that twenty seconds well absolutely just think about it this way the reunification of germany and what germany is today it's an absolute powerhouse a read. unified korea would be out powerhouse japan would look like nothing compared to it just imagine the industry that's right now in south korea and all the resources then people that exist in north korea unified into one as much as people are telling you that this is what they want to see there's a lot of countries that are shaking in their boots at just the thought of that as a hell of a reporting from toronto thank you so much thank you coming up next on our team are changes happening in the campaign ministrations we'll have the details for you right after a short break stay with us. i

breaking news now another shake up and the white house communications director anthony security is out the white house says karen where she felt it was best to give the incoming chief of staff general john kelly quote a clean slate and let him build his own white house staffing team let's as the second major shake up in just a few days last week chief of staff ryan's priebus was booted to make room for general kelly. the high court in london has rejected an attempt to prosecute former prime minister tony blair over the iraq war a decision is being met with mixed reviews r t correspondent and us to see it has the story. well this is a highly anticipated decision as the high court here in the u.k. blocks a bid to prosecute tony blair for his role in kick starting the iraq war back in two thousand and three now this is a case that was brought forward by an iraqi general who accused tony blair of quote a crime of aggression but the justices here in london did rule that because no such

notion exists under domestic law in england and wales this case is not going to go forward they also said that this is a decision that is not going to be reversed by the supreme court we have to say that the defense team did argue that the chilcote reports the massively controversial report published last year justified bringing tony blair to justice because if you remember this is a report that underscored the questionable intelligence used when it comes to the issue of weapons of mass destruction in iraq as well as brought to light information on not all peaceful alternatives having been considered before the iraq war was launched let's take a listen in the house of commons on september twenty fourth two thousand and two mr blair presented iraq's past current and future capabilities as evidence of the security civility of the potential threat from iraq. the judgments

about iraq's capabilities in that statement and in the dossier published the same. we're presented with a certainty that was not justified. despite the fact that tony blair is not going to clearly be appearing in court in this particular case the issue of the massive death toll as well as the consequences that this war has had for the region and the rest of the world and the fact that the families continue speaking out about the need to bring him to justice it doesn't seem like this issue is going to be going away anytime soon and this one terrorist in this well it's that the well needs to be aware of these names tony but we were proud of the scrooge some adult has signed on to sort of a comfort but we can be proud of the way i'll go to the street. so it's obviously clear that despite the fact that this particular case has now been dropped that families are going to continue to hope for justice for the ones that they lost in the iraq war. the best is coming up next right here on our team america the never sorry i was doing this for

democrats just lost a big election recently when they should have won by all accounts so you'd think up to losing so spectacularly they would take a minute to regroup quietly think about what happened and then get to work but instead of taking a moment of quiet reflection some of them can't stop taking loud televised interviews like democratic congressman adam schiff from california who has done no less than fourteen hours of t.v. interviews since president trump took office that's right the man who was supposed to be busy in congress fixing health care and what not has instead been running around chasing t.v. cameras he's appeared on news channels like c.n.n.

and most n.b.c. fox news a.b.c. c.b.s. n.b.c. and he's also shown up on comedy central and h.b.o. for a total of fourteen hours eight minutes and fifty five seconds since january twentieth according to the washington free beacon who got the information from a report given to the white house that translates to about forty five minutes or so every single day seriously the congressman has been on t.v. for about forty five minutes every single day on average since trump took office and the funniest part about that is that shift actually had the nerve to take to twitter to accuse the president of watching too much t.v. seriously he tweeted to the president that the problem is how often he watches t.v. . well he himself has been on t.v. almost forty five minutes of every single day of the president's food and then in the same tweet shift says that the president's comments and actions are beneath the dignity of the office as they're going on t.v.

every day is somehow a dignified thing for a congressperson to do it is such a ridiculous childish spat that's beneath the dignity of every american but shift apparently can't see that he's a part of it but he's not the only democrat who's been a full on media mooch the same report also show that democratic senator mark warner from virginia has done sixty interviews totaling just under six hours since january twentieth combined to have done more than one hundred eighty interviews in six months and of course we've all seen maxine waters and chuck schumer crying on t.v. every other minute too many of our congresspeople have become such insufferable camera hogs it is outrageous it's especially when you consider that we the people elected them to do a very important job so to these congresspeople i say this every minute you show up on t.v. spouting your partisan politics is a minute your constituents can watch you not doing your job and it's not

a good look for a politician or anyone else. i'm a trial lawyer i've spent countless hours poring through documents that tell the story about the ugly side of. corporate media written uses to talk about these con artists. i'm going to paint a clear picture about how disturbing council block corporate conduct is be a mom these are stories that you no one else can tell my parents or your host of americans question. what politicians do sometimes. they put themselves on the line they get accepted or rejected.
