u.s. to. russia but we hear how the problem is more likely closer to home. but i welcome it's just turned three o'clock here in moscow watching r.t. international's could have a company that our top story the legal battle over a massacre in iraq a decade ago is heading back to the u.s. courts judges ordered the recent unsing of three operatives from the private u.s. security contractor formerly known as blackwater indicating that the sentences were too harsh for faces a complete retrial the four guards opened fire with machine guns and grenade launchers in baghdad in the source square fourteen civilians were killed and seventeen others were injured guards argued that they were under fire from insurgents although. no witnesses support those claims the carnage three widespread

condemnation and raise serious questions about the military's accountability in iraq i don't know whether anybody cares there are. there were dead bodies everywhere overseas going badly with few people and so are among the dead bodies of those who are. seven years old. i. i.

i i for blackwater was on the u.s. government payroll earning it about three billion dollars secured a contract bonanza than she would after the two thousand and three us invasion of iraq operating as part of the u.s. occupation authorities blackwater gained notoriety over its conduct security flaws and disciplinary problems following the massacre the company rebranded but it still operating it seems that scandal has done little to dent the u.s. government's appetite for working with military contract is he was still thriving as artie's shouting vigor now explains. meet erik prince the founder of blackwater a private military company with a controversial reputation with its legacy you might expect princes career to be over but this cannot be farther from the truth there's no backlash for him no shame the man's gun for hire business is booming what i care about is the taxpayer is

that large you wasting food say five billion dollars a year in afghanistan i don't think it's appropriate to pull out completely with all the wars the us is waging abroad times are lucrative for private security firms you'd struggle to find one with an untainted slate dyna corp for example for over a decade the u.s. state department was giving almost seventy percent of its funding for afghanistan to this particular firm this company's record features a sex slavery scandal in bosnia a male prostitution scandal in afghanistan and also there a botched seventy million dollar worth construction project were also means big business first sally port global who were paid nearly seven hundred million dollars to secure an iraqi base they allegedly turned a blind eye to outhaul smuggling theft security violations and allegations of sex trafficking and then fired investigators who uncovered wrongdoing that's all according to an associated press investigation the list of controversy goes on yet private security firms are doing just fine and filling their coffers with the

spoils of war. r.t. washington d.c. well political analyst and police the case does prove the u.s. a lives for impunity with its own forces and mysteries while i think it's part of a broader move by the west and especially in britain and the usa to really make it absolutely clear to the rest of the world that they have impunity so i think this is really the broad trajectory of proving to the world showing to the world that british u.s. forces have impunity and extends to their ministers as well remember this really interesting this this trial in the u.s. is it was from two thousand and seven when the u.s. forced on the iraqi government and agreement the. troops there my summer is would know how would not be able to be tried in iraqi courts so they have to make some semblance of some kind of show that they were going to try soldiers and u.s. courts are now even that seems to be being rolled back so very very troubling development i think. meanwhile forty eight russian speaking children are currently

is someone who would put in a school just to find someone me as a person. if close will money. we know that there are. some very sad accounts that want a day or two to has details of more heartbreaking stories which have emerged. there are two stories that have come to light in particular that really paint the horrors of what's happened and how innocent victims particularly children and i when bound and in a foreign country without those identification papers what will happen to them they got no support of anybody no adults the first story i actually came across has a happy ending it involved two years of hell for the mother and her husband a native czech new color on target of he went to fight alongside islamic state. and basically he first went to syria and then to iraq and he actually kidnapped their son and took the son along with him that was back in october twenty fifth now four year old mother had not seen him for two years so you can imagine the trauma that
8:09 am
she's gone through she had no idea whether he was dead or alive and actually she coincidentally saw a youtube video with her son on it and she contacted the russian authorities and you actually have the end of this man in the chair still that. there's a slab a good look at their list there's got religion is there but so much to. do with national. bank in effect beast. i don't know you know. but russian authorities are now seeking to cooperate in trying to repatriate a lot of those children there are dozens of them apparently there who are russian speaking whose parents decided to join isis and so you know at least something is going on and happening hopefully some of those children will also be saved now the
8:10 am
second story is equally harrowing it doesn't have such a happy ending it's about a girl called howie she got married in two thousand and nine and six years later her husband decided to move to turkey they had three children at the time and then later michael contacted her parents so the children grow. parents and told that told them they were moving to iraq she gave birth to a fourth child there and she apparently cried when she contacted her parents and said that her husband threatened to take the children away from her which is why she went to iraq she then stopped calling her parents so they didn't hear from her after that and apparently her husband was recruited by ice or he had a month's training and he was sent off to fight and then michael was told that he was killed in action now the grandparents have contacted the russian authorities playing for their help now that they want to find their daughter and grandchildren they know nothing about her they don't know where she is would serve some clues. is

that i knew. that this was. a moment. to. deal. and. i'm used to new growth and could you would you call with. me. most of the prepared it was most to do. so as you can see there that's an example of a not so lucky family and now i would imagine there are lots of families like that dealing with this situation who knows what the outcome will be just an example of how horrendous the situation is right now. if they were to do their will we got in touch with the right child welfare commission which says it regards the children of ice all parents as victims. i don't give you that some children have broken legs or hands this is because they were abandoned by their parents and for a long term has stayed without any further care and mind them there are the iraqi
8:12 am
children of easy the mothers the right church and children chainless there is one friend child all these children have been placed in the shelters they are treated with care and attention there is no difference between them and the others our aim is to guarantee them a safe environment we consider them to be victims they are not guilty of anything if the child's father is from high school of course the child is not to blame. now germany is to resume sending asylum seekers back to greece ending its six year moratorium it's returning nearly four hundred newcomers and rules which do dictate where immigrant should be processed the move comes a little over a month before germany's general election would get more details now for your cold . feet all over his base in berlin first good afternoon to you peter so just talk us through their latest plans from germany well back in twenty eleven the constitutional court here in germany ruled that migrant asylum applications would
8:13 am
not be returned to countries like greece this was simply because in the ice of the german constitutional court greece could not cope with the numbers that the situation in camps wasn't up to standard well that has changed in the announcement that germany would be returning asylum applicants to greece was made on german television by the greek migrant minister we accept that there was pressure from several you countries on greece to resume returns i understand that e.u. governments want to show some results to their voters. world that was confirmed by the interior ministry here in burma lynne we understand is that what we understand is that three hundred and ninety two asylum applicants will be returned to greece under the dublin convention. it will only affect those that have arrived here in germany and of made up locations for asylum since the beginning of the middle of
8:14 am
march of this year but greece and italy have been the two places that has borne the brunt of well have been the the ways into europe with germany of course between twenty fifteen and twenty sixteen took in over one million asylum applicants and migrants but it was from those routes through greece and through italy where it's where it all started now an e.u. plan that was supposed to see one hundred sixty thousand asylum applications in italy in greece redistributed throughout the member states well that's being repeatedly delayed and it faces or objections from countries such as hungry and poland and other eastern european states it does seem that just among the heads of germans going to the polls here to elect the new chancellor what we're going to see is germany going back to the dublin treaty and returning those asylum applicants it
8:15 am
finds in the country but that situation in greece well it was deemed unfit back in twenty eleven it hasn't really improved so far so we're still waiting for the reasoning why germany has taken this decision right now to return those almost four hundred asylum applicants to greece why now still remains unanswered ok thanks peter was artie's peter oliver there. now still ahead this hour there's something not right with america's voting system apparently will tell you about the claims and who might be to blame after the break. seemed wrong but. just don't hold. me. to shame

come back now there's a fresh type of voting irregularities in the united states in california alone several counties have been found to have substantially more registered photos them voting age citizens his. voter fraud a subject that seen fierce debate in recent u.s. politics but the current president and his opponents trading barbs over claims and counterclaims flying back and forth every time voter fraud occurs it cancels out the vote of a lawful citizen and undermines democracy can't let that happen the fiction that millions of illegal votes were cast in the two thousand and sixteen election it is in pure glee a stunning allegation for which the white house is providing no evidence to people registered in two states they registered in new york and in new jersey they vote twice you mean voter fraud california allows i believe there was voted for and a new report suggests that it's an issue that does need to be looked into the
8:18 am
activist group judicial watch sent a letter to california authorities warning out a discrepancy between the number of people registered to vote in the state and the total population of eligible voters it is urging that california to take reasonable steps to clean up its rules we will see with state officials fail to act the greatest discrepancy was in los angeles county according to report there forty four percent more people registered to vote than eligible citizens living in the county and that amounts to roughly one million people now california isn't the only state facing these kinds of problems according to the report that was released back in april over eleven different states have counties with similar discrepancies we decided to talk to folks here in liberal new york about what the figures show there's not that much voter fraud but there's been a couple of states in the south but they've brought before a local politics not for national things i just think it's a system where even if maybe one vote is off in a state then the state goes to the other way and mostly it's just i think it needs

to be more on the people than it is do you have faith in the american electoral system yes absolutely you don't think it's rigged or faulty you know i think our elections here in the usa are rigged. media faith in the american electoral system yes tom tell me why. because there's checks and balances in the system you don't have faith in the u.s. electoral system now really. if california doesn't get a grip on things it could soon be facing a lawsuit as it stands the elections of the united states and their integrity are now in question but not because of some a list of russian hackers the problem appears to be much closer to. our state new york where a u.s. state senator we spoke to will say says the problem spreads beyond california this is a stunning number first of all your dish your watches are highly respected organization and they have compared the voting record with the number of voting each noticed
8:20 am
that there are far more people voting then there are people who are eligible to vote and so the system as all of us great corrupter it's got a combination of some of the more people who have died some of them are non set aside and some of them are you know legal there's some way you go immigrants were being permitted to vote president trump has made the statement that he believes that literally a couple of no you know he cast. votes i tend to agree with him even though in virginia now virginia is better than some states and yet i know for a fact that there's a great deal of voter fraud. the syrian army is clearing the eastern town of. i so terrorists it was captured by government troops at the weekend and is being regarded as one of the most significant victories in recent months we spoke to the

a long way to go what is the mention there has been under siege for years and told us about the dye conditions they face living in the shadow of ice. however i learned very late in the navy as isis terrorists raided our house my thirteen year old cousin was staying with us i hid her in a water tank so that the terrorists didn't take her as a slave terrorist from iraq execute civilians in the streets and leave bodies lying there for up to five days i secretly drove my sons out of the city otherwise isis militants would recruit them by force inject psychotropic substances and later use them as suicide bombers to billions don't have access to regular good to commodities to services planes aren't always able to reach their lives or iraqi power through the equipment of the food which is needed as orders on the outskirts is one large front line you've got thousands of syrian forces fighting i think on a day to day basis they're in constant need of resupply. hate filled graffiti has
8:25 am
been sprayed outside twisties offices in the german city of hamburg but it's not the work of far right and dorset is part in fact of a stunt to highlight the abundance of offensive posts on twitter and the company's seeming reluctant to tackle it the artist behind it used real tweets of racist and he semitic and homophobic messages to make the point clear r.t. . says he's reported three hundred hateful tweets to twitter but says the social media giant is failed to delete most of them and that prompted him to take the radical action. the law forces companies like twitter and facebook to delete those kind of comments after twenty four hours or to at least process them twitter is a huge company and they have a bunch of risk resources and i think considering how much how many resources they actually have i feel like they're not doing everything in their power to stop this
8:26 am
problem which is the big problem isn't it interesting that i have to spray those things on the whole street for people to actually notice them while those tweets some of those tweets has been on have been on twitter for years the only response i got when there was enough there we sprayed everything day someone from the building i'm not sure if it's twitter or one of the other offices that are there or there they hired someone to clean up but he cleaned up only in the front so we only cleaned up the interests of the building while all the other hate comments were. were still there and i thought it was a it was a nice symbol to how twitter approaches things where we have been in touch with ritualized so far we haven't received a reply to comment on which story. that's how the news looks so far today i'm back with more in about half an hour's time with more news in the headlines so forget that you can keep the stories using our social media pages.
