i was. i. breaking news from paris this lunchtime a manhunt underway there for a car this morning plowed into a group of soldiers injuring several anti terror police are investigating. a big story today to president trump vows fire and fury against north korea which then threaten to strike u.s. territory guam. decision to sack an employee for criticizing its diversity policy is a big free speech but he gets a job offer from wiki leaks we've got the story. we've got this to the russian lawyer broiled in that big collusion scandal with donald trump explains exclusively
6:01 am
to us why her story she says has been exploited by the mainstream media. scandal over my meeting with donald trump genius has been carefully orchestrated and blown out of proportion this story has proven to be gold for so many. l.o.l. i'm kevin owen you're watching art international live it's one of the afternoon here in moscow no mid day in paris than and that's where the top story is centering this hour where french counterterrorism prosecutors now investigating an attack on the soldiers this morning near their barracks in the north paris suburb six troops were injured the three that i was going up to one seriously. is there now or i believe live press conference as well a media conference to give the latest update but take us through what happened here charlotte. security forces again under attack brazenly twenty one months no into
6:02 am
the country's big state of emergency. yes that right that state of emergency put in place after the paris attacks that night of terror back in november two thousand and fifteen and yet again paris is under attack this is an upmarket suburb in the northwest of paris kind of place where it's very residential and this morning at around eight o'clock there was what was described by the man as being a deliberate attack on soldiers as it was a change of guard in the barracks which is just a few hundred meters away from me this is what the men had to say. a car was parked near the barracks drivers obviously waiting for the servicemen to leave i believe it can be called a planned act. well we've now been hearing in the last few minutes from the paris prosecutor's office that they have opened an
6:03 am
investigation into that instant here at lvalue and they say they are pursuing charges of attempted murder of security forces in connection with a terrorist enterprise that gives us the clearest indication so far that the prior arrest prosecutor's office is treating this as a deliberate terrorist attack on these soldiers as you mentioned there have been six soldiers were injured in this incident and we've now been told that three of those soldiers have been seriously injured although we understand none have life threatening injuries they are all now being treated in hospital for those injuries but this is just the latest in a long string of incidents here in paris where we've seen particularly in the last few months very small scale attacks which of course the eye of the public starting in february when i saw four soldiers were attacked by a man wielding a machete knife not long after that there was an attack at the guards at all the airport in paris one of the main air. in the city since then we've seen other
6:04 am
attacks including the death of a policeman down on the shores sillies a the main route through the heart of the city and that was again due to a terrorist attack we've seen other attacks on the show israelis and it seems now that twenty one months into this state of emergency we may not be seeing the kind of attacks like that started it back in november two thousand and fifteen but there still is a very real threat of terror here in france particularly here in paris and it's interesting when the president back on and said that he would like to end that state of emergency by november of this year where the fact it's possible remains to be seen yes specially charlotte when you consider as well the interior minister saying in the first six months of this year only seven terror plots were for oil that could have been so much worse the that was foiled charlotte for now in paris thanks for the keep us posted on the guys that have been injured what happens on the trail of this man as it continues this afternoon welcome back to later year. ok
6:05 am
well the soldiers who were attacked on wednesday morning are part of operation sense now we talked about it just now the extra security brought in after a series of terror attacks in france as we've said over the past two years. i saw twenty five intelligence officers from the line of brussels high on the answer time this lunchtime just said that the media conference is underway a lot is going to listening to that maybe we'll get small details over the next half hour or so but we do know that the suburbs mayor says the suspect was waiting for the soldiers to emerge for hours he says raising the question of how such suspicious activity could have gone on challenged in such
6:06 am
a sensitive place but again as we've said so many times before you can't be across everything all of the time every minute detail can you. well indeed not but if this alleged attacker was indeed lying in wait for quite a long time right next to a very sensitive and key site for the security services then one does have to wonder what's going on i mean i know that france is not blanket is in c.c.t.v. coverage as the u.k. is yet but i would have thought that there would be c.c.t.v. around an army barracks ticket counter terrorism army barracks so i would've thought that they would have some decent images both as a number of the car which is probably stolen but also the alleged attacker as well so i'm sure that he won't get that far because well that's the thing is that now the attacker is on the run we don't know what's will come out of this media conference and maybe because more information the bring to us in a bit but it brings a question of how much of a wider threat posed by somebody on the run right now in france there's lunch no more people or on the run could continue to cause
6:07 am
a danger somewhere else and. well i hesitate to to jump to conclusions but this does fit a passon of isis inspired attacks against the security services in france so there's a high probability i suggest that this is one such thing i would also suggest as the position is well that if study is the case this person will already be known to the security agencies we've seen time after time after time with all the attacks across europe over the last couple of years that every one of the perpetrators has already been on the radar of security agencies and because they're drowning in the data that they're hoovering up about all of this they're not targeting the people that should be under active investigation. we've been talking about since november twenty fifth to this huge blanket of security that's been brought down to try and protect the public looking a bit more at what the french interior minister the just last month you said a plot was thwarted in the southern city of mosul in april just a week before the presidential elections he went on to say but could have had dreadful consequences behind the scenes we don't know what has been thwarted but
6:08 am
with the hindsight looking back over the last two years how does this operation. and has the clout that in security the state of emergency been successful. well obviously not if these plots are still going on i think see operation sentinel as more to reassure the public but actually stop attacks you need good hind the scenes intelligence work where you get the preemptive intelligence you know what people are planning you can stop them carrying out their plots before they actually do them so i think this is more reassurance type thing putting all the soldiers on the streets however france has a very strong constitution you know with the ideas of privacy and the right to private life and the security of your home and the states for emergency is basically shredded is that constitution shredded those basic rights so you know a great cost to society perhaps it's not doing quite what it should be doing there should be more investment in proper intelligence work more targeting of people that
6:09 am
you can recruit as agents out there within these groups to get the print intelligence. forces launched an emotional intelligence officer good day. the big news room today let me take the next big story north korea now threatening to strike the u.s. territory in its after president strongly worded warning to north korea's leader over missile tests nuclear threats. what. make it work threats to the united states. they will be met with fire fury. like the world has never seen. those kind of the words the kind of would expect maybe from a north korean leader may be coming out the mouth of the president of the united states it is alarming and it's home quickly as with us now which is going to take us through it we're having yes you're absolutely right and before trying to make that rather explosive statement while the washington post actually published an
6:10 am
article claiming that their reporters have read this latest u.s. defense report which says that north korea has managed to build these small nuclear warheads a small enough to fit inside missiles and also they put the arsenal of north korea at sixty nuclear weapons which is more than previously thought so rather alarming information but this washington post article well they did not present any sort of evidence to prove how they managed to get their hands on this on this document and despite that the story's been picked up by the american mainstream media has been widely reported and here's a sample of what those reports are like. confirming a u.s. intelligence assessment on north korea that was first reported by the washington post earlier today and the assessment is this that north korea now has a weapon a nuclear weapon that is small enough to fit on a missile u.s. intelligence analysts believe the north could now produce a miniaturized nuclear warhead that can fit inside its missile and north korea become a full fledged nuclear power they may have crossed
6:11 am
a key threshold something the world has been fearing for years the north has successfully developed many nuclear warheads. on top of this washington post article things got to a boiling point on tuesday when the u.s. flew to b. one b. bombers over guam with its allies in japan and south korea and after that drill while the president made that statement saying that he's respond to threats from north korea with fire in theory and that prompted pyongyang to release a statement saying that they are considering striking the u.s. base in guam now bear in mind that is true i mean throughout the years and also this year alone north korea has conducted numerous missile attacks which angered the international community but at the same time the u.s. is also increasing its military presence significantly in the region we're talking about sending an air carrier is conducting regular military drills setting and troops and also fighter jets to the region and in terms of rhetoric while president obama has long been quite aggressive towards north korea and some would even go as far as saying that he's being provocative here's a sample of the u.s.
6:12 am
officials have commented on north korea in the past the year of strategic patience with the north korean regime has failed many years and it's failed united states is prepared to use the full range of our capabilities to defend ourselves and our allies. one of our capabilities lies with our considerable military forces this is a little a few should a nation if you compare it to our capabilities they don't come near to being even close to a competitor or the chance that we could end up. having a major major conflict with north korea. absolutely. tensions are higher than ever as gone way beyond just a war of words china and russia have been calling on all sides to remain calm and to seek a political solution to all of this and meanwhile australia and new zealand who are countries that are countries in the asia pacific region also u.s.
6:13 am
allies and they could suffer greatly if a conflict is to break out on the korean peninsula they have also come out to weigh in on what they thought about translate a statement here because i think the comments are not helpful and informing the steering teams everyone wants to avoid military confrontation the global community led by the security council including china and russia. all united in seeking to bring the maximum economic pressure on north korea to bring them to their senses without conflict have to wait and see whether trump will take their advice but certainly the escalating tensions on the korean peninsula has got a lot of people worried yeah cummings who doesn't really mourning over the course of the state's interest to see this plays out through the course of the day i know you'll be across as later when you go more and we see if and i think you know we got some thoughts from the former cia officer joe rice who says that the aggressive war of words between the u.s. and north korea is the last thing the world needs over the situation right now. but
6:14 am
this can't be is an ego fight and right now what it felt like was a fight between trump on one side and kim on the other and to see who could make more outlandish statements and the fear is that if somebody flinches if somebody screws up there could be hundreds of thousands of dead people here this is a very real fight this is shockingly dangerous and the last thing we need to do is stand on it started bumping chests and talk about who's the bigger mayor. next story for you wiki leaks is offering a job to the google engineer who was sacked over an internal corporate memo and web giants move a spot to debate oh hello you're over there was there i don't know a spot to debate over free speech in corporations wiki leaks edited julian is sons accused google of censorship and tweeted that it's not fair to fire employees for freely expressing their thoughts and genea james do more was fined or is sending a memo criticizing google's diversity policies his bosses say that breach the code
6:15 am
of conduct kalam open next looks into what was in that memo them. in corporate boardrooms across america the buzz word is meritocracy ideology isn't supposed to matter employees are supposed to be hired judged and promoted based on their skills and ability however the high tech firm known as google seems to be straying from this free market ideal and now employees can be fired if they step away from the liberal social justice party line they recently fired an employee and sent out this memo portions of the memo violate our code of conduct and crossed the line by advancing harmful gender stereotypes in our workplace so what is it that he said what stereotypes was he promoting well here are the fatal words i'm simply stating that the distribution of preferences new pollutes these men and women differ in poets you to biological causes and that these differences may explain why we don't see queer presentation of women in tech and leadership now those are fighting words
6:16 am
as far as some people are concerned and the guy is not going to win any popularity contests to be fair by having a top employee make comments like this google opens itself up to the danger of lawsuits and allegations of discrimination in hiring but is there an ideological criteria for working at google let's take a look at where some of this thought crime logic leads. google won't fix john with unconscious bias training when they keep employing people who are proud of their conscious bias honestly if no one is fired over this google should just admit the commitment to women is window dressing the article is publicly supported by many people internally that's the question how many privately supports agree or subscribe there are many people who google who share this guy's views they do pit performance reviews and interview people they discriminate yes the usa heralds itself as the land of the free and the home of the brave but on certain college

campuses in silicon valley and in other parts of the country there's an atmosphere brewing where if you have the wrong political opinions or cultural views there can be very harsh consequences. r.t. new york so putting some thoughts into this equation when it opens to the ends of the spectrum has to be said we've got the legal analyst lionel and also the journalist there an overage who shared their thoughts on google's move with us. what kind of idiot would decide. google to basically slam diversity to refer to women in particular most of descriptions which might under some. interpretation of human behavior might be considered valid but to others patently offensive what is google supposed to do this fellow who wrote the memo he will never work in a normal corporation or a big corporation ever again in america a what he stabbed was basically one interpretation that women were inferior.
6:18 am
based upon a variety of reasons and rationale which to him i'm sure makes sense and by the way he may be now the darling of the right right the libertarian right whatever you want to call them the memo in fact most people reporting on it never read it the people criticizing it i read it it was quite sound quite sane it was temperate he even said that nothing in this memo means that we should respect everybody we should respect everybody and then google went around and fired him and showed him that the left does not respect anybody who has independent thought the problem is not that we don't understand what the problem is that this is a sensitive to people what google then has to do is address the other workers or say wait a minute i must fended by this do you endorse this when you don't have actual evidence that your being the victim of sexism but you want to believe a victim and become a victim then you find evidence whether it's. the russian lawyer dragged into

our. culture. and in. the trail. find themselves worlds apart. to look for common ground. i welcome back so to our exclusive the russian lawyer at the center of that big collusion scandal with donald trump's team has been given more details about the pressures she says she faces from the president's opponents and from the u.s. media last month natalia vessel it sky was dragged into that huge row over claims that russia interfered in the u.s. election over a meeting she had with the president. we all know her name now and tell us about

media machine operates on july eighth the new york times sent me a request for comment they asked me to reply to a list of questions i was surprised by many questions relating to the trump jr meeting i was not even able to recall the exact date because it seemed like a passing meeting it did not lead anywhere there was no outcome i sent a detailed reply to the new york times and surprisingly in their post on july eighth they only publish small extracts from my statement only what they needed now that same piece looks completely different on their website it has been thoroughly revised there is a huge difference from the original article that was published on july eighth to me it looks like an orchestrated story the whole scandal over my meeting with donald trump jr has been carefully orchestrated and blown out of proportion we have come so close to the truth of how russian budget funds were stolen and that a fair i just happened to be on the front line so to speak and i challenge mr brown

to publicly he invented all of this he and nobody else he and his team set it all up it is extremely difficult to find a smarter media manipulator than bill browder this is a complicated old story as one the clock but from memory recap american finance a bill browder emerged as a central player in the scandal between us and the sky and government from junior and even testify before a u.s. senate committee over it leaked state department e-mails revealed that grow the hope though along with gathering information and personal details about personally the sky she believes he then wrapped up his public event death row after losing a lengthy court about all three months ago against a stay with me state oh. real estate firm in cyprus which she was representing he accused it of munder money laundering but the case was settled and the firm was cleared but that's where the connections are being made. on russians but i think that browder himself is
