vehicles involved i was questioning earlier you know to what extent we can say this is deliberate or not it would appear that video clarifies things to some extent clearly showing one vehicle ramming into the back of two vehicles in front of it and forcing them to plow through the pro the counter protesters who dissembled and they can see you can just see the aftermath there tending to some of the wounded let's take you now some information coming from the mayor of charlottesville who has confirmed now that one person has died in this incident and a quote from him the mayor of charlottesville saying broken for the life has been lost here people of goodwill to go. let's get on the line now to washington d.c. and speak to our correspondent jacqueline. a very sad day certainly for the people of charleville jacqueline what more information can you bring us. you know

like you just mentioned we are getting the update that with the among the multiple injuries some of them quite severe we do have the report that one person has died and it looks like these cars actually rammed into the group of counter protesters and today was obviously a very divisive protest happening between the white nationalist and the counter protest that was happening there and unfortunately earlier today we did see president trump tweet calling for unity in the united states saying that there's no place for violence like this to take place in america and now we're seeing the extent of the violence that has happened in charlottesville today. right now it seems that america is anything but united unfortunately we've seen a number of examples of violent protests happening we've seen plays depict depicting the death of our president we've seen a while back when you were a member of comedian kathy griffin she did a photo shoot showing herself holding

a bloodied severed head the result resembled the president many people slammed her saying that it was you know provoking violence on that side and even protests that have happened at universities across the country have seen a lot of violence break out between essentially the left and the right sides of political parties people often coming to blows or using pepper spray a lot of it a lot of times it's just unsolicited violence and today we've seen another extreme example again we see in this these cars it seems like there were three cars that were allowed into the protesters one person has died and many more are injured and we're going to keep checking in to see what has happened how this was possible to have happened today and what else can be found among the victims. and science correspondent in washington jacqueline who go on the line.

it's not completely locked down i mean streets have been shut off on and off all day and charlottesville. they were originally fire trucks came down and even a bear cat the bear cat was the first vehicle to respond after reports it started coming out of this of this incident and then later on some ambulances were able to show up after about like seven to ten minutes or so. i hear donald trump is going to give a speech later tonight say something about this but it seems as though. charlottesville is not completely shut down although there is a state of emergency. the mood there of the counter protests he said some of them who have been injured how they responded to what. the soul to pawn some of the numbers. it is just it's just very somber here a lot of people crying a lot of people have friends that were that were hit by that car and just just all

and we agreed that the hate and the division must stop and must stop right now we have to come together as americans with love for our nation and true effect really and i say this so strongly true affection for each other our country is doing very well in so many ways we have recog just absolute record employment we have unemployment the lowest it's been in almost seventeen years we have companies pouring into our country foxconn and car companies and so many others that coming back to our country were renegotiating trade deals to make them great for a country and great for the american worker. we have so many incredible things happening in our country so when i watch charlottesville to me it's very

very sad. i want to salute the great work of the state and local police in virginia credible people law enforcement credible people and also the national guard they've really been working smart and working hard they've been doing a terrific federal authorities are also providing tremendous support to the governor he thanked me for that and we're here to provide whatever other assistance is needed we are ready willing and able above all else we must remember this truth no matter our color creed religion or political party we are all americans first. we love our country we love god we love our flag we're proud of our country we're proud of who

we are so we want to get this situation straightened out in charlottesville and we want to study it and we want to see what we're doing wrong as a country where things like this can happen my administration is resorting to sacred bonds of loyalty between this nation and its citizens but our citizens must also restore the bonds of trust and loyalty between one another we must love each other respect each other and cherish our history and our future together so important. we have to respect each other ideally we have to love each other. responding that today's fatal events in charlottesville now the fatal incident followed what had already been violent
