tv Larry King Now RT August 18, 2017 9:00pm-9:30pm EDT
9:00 pm
through. mary king now those stars of shark maybe i'll ring in terry so that's good sara i mean it's a joke i didn't think it was going to be a cult film when it became an opportunity to be a blessing in disguise. the side by fans or what i feel are the most supportive fans in all of entertainment when something is exciting here in the united states it's instantly picked up by all the other areas around the world where fans are very much like minded you have said that it reignited you really did i think for a long time i was kind of you know the high school for on the ground in college but i never got to play a mother before so it really helped me on
9:01 pm
a lot of ways to play a role plus nato six b. where larry six. is a jew with glasses all next on larry king mel. welcome to larry king now today's special guest i and ziering and terror read i am shot to fame as steve sanders of the hit t.v. show devil hills nine o two one zero and has starred in films like domino terry is known for roles in movies like american pie and the big lebowski just to name a few together the two stall in the mega hit film franchise shock nato the fifth installment titled shot made all global swarming airs sunday night at eight pm eastern on the side for a network ok. ok start with you how did shark medo come to. my agent called me up and i gave me
9:02 pm
a script in the city of an author on this movie called dark skies so i read it and i thought it's this is the silliest movie i've ever read my life like flying sharks like people in beverly hills and this is so dumb and you know and that night i went out to dinner with my friends and i said i'm in the worst script of all time so badly scarred so yeah it was dark skies and then i was telling him the story and they were cracking up i think you have to do this movie it's hilarious like really that i get so i called it and i said you know it lets a stupid move you know i'm going to see it inside if i is one that i'd be for an hour again you know and then like four days into shooting it they tell me and i and that they're going to name the show now shark meta i mean i'm like no no no you can't do that we don't want that on a resume like it's a horrible name and then our knowledge at it in order to get you for me it was a straight up offer like tara. but there were starting shooting a week later which for me told me that someone dropped out you know cast
9:03 pm
a movie for days before you start shooting it. and as i read the script i kind of saw why there are a lot of holes in the script that were left to be filled by visual effects and visual effects are really expensive and knowing that this was going to be done on a micro budget i was seeing visions of sit in marty croft style visual effects igniting the sea monster. sleestak which kind of thing i thought i'd be working with puppets and i'd told my wife that this is going to be a huge misstep by. going to turn it down halfway through the script i told her this is this is something i should do and with my daughter penicillin belly and me oh on her hip she said no you need to go to work you know sometimes i lose sight of the fact that had a husband a father and a provider and i do what i do for a living sometimes it's like a jungle gym i get to play on but you're right i've had to take one for the team to make my insurance through a union it was a bother you the film was pope for a minute. oh no not god i mean that it's so bad it's good so i mean it's
9:04 pm
a joke if you don't take yourself seriously i knew that you know what i was doing i didn't think it was going to be a cult film when it became a it it turned into be a blessing in disguise as well as i am surprised because i was basing it on metrics that are used to measure other movies when you look at sharknado what we've been able to accomplish can't be measured on the typical critical scale it's pretty much created its own genre it's a fun movie where everyone's in on the joke except the actors in the movie how does it work visual effects is all it's all good is reshoot well some of it we should all of it is but sometimes it's all visual effects but sometimes like some of his a crazy wonderings writing this arc has actually. right and a green thing but it's actually the sets are really in new york in tokyo in australia so there are all greens and we sometimes have some practical sharks but they're not real there by being. in the newer global swarming.
9:05 pm
us it's a global swarm we have decimated california we've pretty much ruined the entire united states. we've been to space and now we're taking the storm to a global playing field yeah basically the signals are getting bigger and bigger and stronger and stronger hold me for some whose hasn't seen it but will watch it all. sharks tornadoes occur and sharks swept up by the tornadoes and to attack earth is that or act well as they fall out of the of the tornado they rain down on icy humidity the two of you play what. we play has been a wife in the movie and we've now become like the mastermind of sark meet us and the experts yeah pretty much how to global leaders in short order spoiling them starting when we started to figure out how to control the shark menace. you
9:06 pm
know they've they've morphed there's now in this shark you know five there's a greater understanding of how they occur from where they've come from and how long they've been around so now we're able to not necessarily control them but to work with them to a sheet of our object also they my character now has become a superhero she's not even really what's left of her anyway yeah she's not really even human so she can fly he has special gadgets and it's amazing to play starting to human to superhero so we have a lot more power to control the sharks you get to like this sharks no no they're always going to be the attack and just in the movie they are the enemy and . we don't want to like the sharks we want to. i want to save the world and you have only spoke did cameos rights to live you john longer others have appeared yeah i'd like to appear can i sign you know my dad the only jewish or. did you want
9:07 pm
a second one. i love it. this was supposed to be a one time only oh yeah now it's fifth year yeah. why did you get cancer on social media the social media outcry was here with us kids but this site by fans or what i feel are the most supportive fans in all of entertainment because we're all now connected on social media through all these different platforms when something is exciting here in the united states it's instantly picked up by all the other areas around the world where the fans are very much like minded and i also think that it's a family it's so it's become almost like the super bowl of the summer time and strength shark week people not going to watch this movie and it can be so bad and good that it's become this cult that this party is just a little bit of a party as they look forward to watching this movie where you're acting in something is camp is the. do you act too or do you do it tongue in cheek never
9:08 pm
tongue in cheek it's like here is we don't do this is not can be either this is a very real situation in this imaginary circumstance and that's part of what enables the audience to suspend disbelief because it is so preposterous and crazy the fact that we play it straight and serious let's say and a half if we were laughing along with them it would all the wind out in sales and you finish the first one and you sort of finished were you surprised i was shocked i mean i didn't we did no press on the breast on i didn't even see it. so i was away in mexico on occasion and i get a phone call like can you believe what happened what's happening and i'm thinking why is there an earthquake or something because i'm going to disaster they shecky you know it's going to huge a million trees come in and i'm like why i had no clue it was astonishing i was working in las vegas and my phone was alerting every way it possibly alerts fibrilation tweets and photos and calls and i just thought my phone was broken.
9:09 pm
but literally there were over five thousand tweets a minute i was getting calls my text messages were spooling up and i thought really it was my demise was very surprised to find out that it was so warmly received that we were getting tons. was it was going to be sure. we were making america. and this could be the lead. not just for a player but for the world. that's right. it's going to. have a bad feeling and. they're bigger. and stronger. stranger. for another september babie any. phenomenon that swept the country. is.
9:10 pm
after the french shows this pretty. well everyone's replaceable. it's. global warming. that's sure. that was a clip from short nato short nato global swarming it airs sunday on the side by channel and we're talking with its stars to are read and i in zero eight ok you have said that it reignited your career it really did and i think for
9:11 pm
a long time i always got to play it you know the high school girl and the grand college but i never got to play a mother before and took me for a fall and i didn't like that position where no one believes as a mother you have young and then we have kids so it really helped me on a lot of ways to play older roles and what do you see from this is certainly it has been a nice bump to my career but i'm in this for the long haul there's stagnant moments in every actor's career it's called in between jobs for gigs at a closing curtain and the next opportunity you have to work is the next step east on this is really just i think another step along the way could this be a feature film in theaters. i actually here's to hoping that i actually think it with the family it's as big as it is it could it could where the idea that this is something it would it would be tough because we do this on such
9:12 pm
a small budget if we were to infuse fifty sixty million dollars into making this movie it would change it if our visual effects were on the james cameron level it wouldn't be sharknado certainly could be a feature film but it was still have to be done like there were rocky horror picture show. what kind of roles are you seeing know. lately my next movie coming out called worthless and it's about bullying and anti bling movie which means a lot to me. and so many people are bullied with social media are by seeming and to some of different levels but this film shows you about bullying if say i believe you and you go home and you get money away from the lay her and she gets mad and she goes away her friends it's as if fact and how one person how to fax somebody people at a domino effect and you know it's an important topic that needs to be spoken about and you see it on you know it's opened up a lot of doors for me mostly i like to create my own destiny i'm working on
9:13 pm
producing a movie also for so i thought i similar genre different themes. that other areas and other businesses that i that i concentrate on for the most part being a dad and then my wife that's really the best role it ever had of you do it with public recognition oh yeah i mean american pie was always the movies for me not definitely and now it's not american pie it's shark neda which i never in the wildest dreams would have ever thought that sharknado would have been the one that became bigger than a big american pie our. fan support as always is very flattering sometimes a person's and doozie as one could be a bit overwhelming but it's always nice to hear people come up and say hey man i really did shark. you know are a member you from dancing with the stars or the apprentice or nine zero two one zero i've had a pretty long career so loriene friends is. made it all the way to the end but
9:14 pm
trump fired i got fired well james got emotional. ok the bullying movie when's it coming up now that's the time a second worthless yes and you play who i play the bully who then becomes bullied to the table to get to see both sides of the game or. makes you see that tara reid and i in zero in our guess when we were turned we talked about because russi good talents and more than a round of you if you only knew shot may go global warming there's all these six some aside voyage and all that coming. up.
9:15 pm
still with you on the idea that dropping bombs brings to the chicken hawks forcing you to fight the battles. that you thought for the tell you to go off of the public worthwhile for the most important. thing you are not cool enough to buy their product. or we. will walk. i think the average viewer just after watching a couple of segments understands that we're telling stories that our critics can't tell and you know why because their advertisers won't let them. in order to create
9:16 pm
change you have to be honest you have to tell the truth artie's able to do that every story is built on going after the back story to what's really happening out there to the american public what's happening when a corporation makes a pharmaceutical that chills people when a company in the environmental business ends up polluting a river that causes cancer and other illnesses they put all the health risk all the dangers out to the american public those are stories that we tell every we can you know what they're working. with i and then tear all the stars of shot made owen shot may goes next episode is sunday nights it's the mega hit and this one is shot middle global swarming to was trying to lose a billion is supposed to be in three it was scheduling that prevented him from making that appearance though. you know the old when he would i play the president of us play the president and then we could argue it for them or keep him in play
9:17 pm
the president but that's kind of they were nuts mario lopez too to play the press i think it was all scheduling i hear that people watch this short maybe old theme parties oh yeah they get to great are insane they just their dogs up by psychs i mean everyone to be shut up as sharks and they put these crazy nets around themselves or do you watch it on sunday we watch it live together so we treat out with the audience so they can ask us questions so we'll be lost faith there's a premiere party at the link hotel so we're going to go into a premier party for a t.v. movie it's a lot of dojo it's that over and the fans go live with us and you tweet up so we tweet while they watch and that's this questions in the instagram and it's wild. ok we're not going to play a game of if you only knew i just saw some questions that you know boy who was your childhood celebrity crush. winner writer kirk cameron.
9:18 pm
secret talent. can juggle my kids you can juggle your. own miss. on the sofa. what cookie. biggest risk you have a tip. probably gosh larry this is a tough one i say taking is what. i honestly think that this probably was the biggest professional risk i didn't trust it and agree dude you could tell me. that there's nothing definite in us have fresh air guilty pleasure ice cream ice cream. sitting home alone i say but you are home why you're home alone a lot yet i live alone not matter anything so i like to sit on it on they can have three married with kids you're not married now go boyfriend. or some out. look it up rep have you let's make it harder then i think maybe people fear sharks
9:19 pm
auto's fan encounter probably when someone came up to me dressed as a shark nato couldn't see them the created this this elaborate costume where you couldn't even see them with it but it was literally a tornado but it had all these little figurines stuck to it and it chainsaw sound effect it was i mean i appreciate it but it was really. weird really weird mind i was at a comic con and that guy was actually jeff bridges the did and he really wouldn't stop talking to me like i was that bunny and he played character with it the whole time and i think. come a consecrated san diego or. something on your professional bucket list. a sitcom i'd like to do a sitcom i like the man the mix of theatre and television all the same time i like the fact that most of them film here in los angeles i sleep in my own bed at the
9:20 pm
end of the day. some succumbs i mean i always wondered if i would actually do not a sitcom but i would like to do now netflix or amazon there's so many great shows on today what's on your personal book atlas. would like to take my wife around the world see some of the sights that i've been fortunate to see in my career bring my kids with me. maybe have kids. one up when i'll be good mother are you do you have kids in the show yes do the sharks of the kids big time. who's a person you trade places with for a day. you know larry i have to say you you've met so many incredible people that is really astonishing i had prince weisel for every day you really have what i had never had a stroke we're going to change that it's sharknado six inmates wish to give us
9:21 pm
a larry oh what's something you so money you trade places with food. i would probably trade places with alan because he's always having a good time and he did a great job or something you wish you were better at basketball swimming strangers job you have a good short order cook and a summer camp. on scrubs. because he smokes cigarettes a lot and so i played a cigarette. good being a celebrity. you know celebrity is never been the goal for me always want to be a working actor and celebrity i look at like capital some very careful how i spend it and i find the best perk is being able to spend it helping others as you as find fresh fast. since pretty nice that he said something we should all be paying more attention to. wow he's coming at me first with these get to think turbo you take
9:22 pm
this i think bunning absolutely united given we should all pay more attention to to our children. yeah i've always wished i had more time spent on my kids it's hard to carve that one other potential we've got to find a guy that is ted good things. don't forget shot made old be global warming airs sunday night august sixth that eight o'clock eastern on the side five network and we have some questions on the internet that really julie mauer on twitter is there any chance shot nato will be coming to netflix it's on to. oh ok you can watch the previous installments all on netflix steve am on the larry king now blog how do you react to hearing people call short medo a bad movie well you ever offended by people who just hate it does anybody hated yes some people say that laws are to. go back to real movies that can you do this
9:23 pm
they are lowering your standards but i mean it is it is d.c. i was seventy two on twitter do you believe actors entire careers could be defined by one role of franchise and are you afraid of experiencing that with this and i kind of thought that might be possible after nine zero two one zero but as long as you hang in there i've been very persistent i've always wanted to be an actor i'm going to continue that you know ultimately if you find other. projects other vehicles it's all of a sudden you're known for that or you'd be affected by this now and i would have six more movies coming out is there a communist everything. morgan shave on larry king now blog i and what were some of your favorite memories from working on guiding light my god you're on guiding light i was on guiding light for a couple years i worked in new york city there. and met some great people i played cameron stewart cameron stafford stuart great great soap name. you know we would
9:24 pm
shoot sixty pages a day on a soap opera which is a tremendous amount of work and there were no cue cards there were no teleprompters so it really helped me stay home my skills and being prepared for the work. for the day it's a great training ground and i met some great people who do a soap yeah the days are less days of online yet and that is rather right oh you must have been of them for now she was actually at her knee with the injuries at this homeless crowd that. hit some hot homeless girl. daniel christopher thomas on facebook tara what was your favorite destination on tara dyce sardinia italy why this is so beautiful in the food is so good and i had a lot of friends that really depends on the larry king now barb who's your dream costar. morgan whether you get as there were other than others that ended. up. you know it's kind of hard to say i i hate to focus
9:25 pm
on one particular thing i'm more open to what the universe has to hold for me as a leader of the capra as they said i had to ask i. really deep is also as our film still you're number one in two so would you do a television series. television series for shipping in a second that's consistent work course of it starts on facebook i endure regret not taking part in the nine zero two one zero reboot. you know i have they brought back a nine zero two one zero ran for five years that's great but when they approached me they didn't have a good story line if i was going to resurrect steve sanders i wanted to have some connection with what i had built in the ten years that i was associated with the show they were not interested in connecting what was with what they had and for that i wasn't interested in you know aggrandizing their project it was a show on ten years not when i was on for ten years on the fox network and then came back not zero two one zero was on i think the c.w.
9:26 pm
for five. it just wasn't something that was really that appealing and as he stands on the wire again now blogger i and would you have any interest in doing a nine zero two one zero reunion show with the original. oh yeah absolutely we're all still really good friends when you work with someone so long for a bullet for ten years at such an early age and it's even become like brothers and sisters so they're all doing great i'm really happy for their achievements and i would love to work with them again for the ken would be awesome ok thanks very much for being with the sage is a pleasure larry great to see it thanks so much not. a big thanks to my you'll see me the short sharknado six d. where larry six we will have larry i'm a p.c. jew with glasses and i guess the highlands going to leave the show to me into shot nato global swarming it airs sunday august sixth at a pm eastern on the side of the net worth is always you can find me on twitter or kids things i'll see you next time.

the mission of news with. is to go to the people tell their side of the story our stories are well sourced we don't hide anything from the public and i don't think the mainstream media in this country can say. which. are two different perspectives so that we're not hearing one echo chamber that mainstream media is constantly spewing. we're not any corporate sponsor no one tells us what to cover how long or how to say that's the beauty of our to america. and we question. that. not letting anything get in your way to bring it home to the american people.
9:29 pm
greetings and salutation greed for lack of a better word is good yes the opening line of that seminal speech from one of hollywood's all time great villains gordon gekko in the film wall street appears to still be the motto to live by for the business and banking elites of the world contrary to the best efforts of many great thinkers and visionaries the engine of humanity on this small planet still runs on money and greed is still clearly the lubricant by which a majority of humanity's business is conducted that are or appear on bridled and competence which ultimately may be the skeleton on which greed is based because only equal parts hubris greed and peer incompetence can account for the continuing disaster that is the of london.
