if i fail in chief i should think almost as you fall for all they feel forces. one person has reportedly been killed and another seriously injured after a car runs into a bus stops in the french city of monserrate. the hunter intensifies for a twenty two year old moroccan for non-belief to be behind the barcelona van attack viruses are weighing up the possibility he's only ready to cross the border with the suspected barcelona have crossed into france we don't have any specific information on this but it cannot be ruled out. and he found she is disrupting rightwing rallies both in q back in canada and in

california as the signage and violence of the racism in recent days shows a growing social divide. i still suffers another blow in syria as the russian defense ministry says a large islamic state convoy heading to do yeah as all was hit by an asteroid killing more than two hundred terror. hello there and thank you for joining us you're watching r.t. international with me macie air and we start with breaking news this hour coming out of the french city of mass say media reports suggest one person has been killed and another seriously injured after a car rammed into people two bus stops we can now cross live to auntie's kate partially to thin songs for us to find out more kate good to see you what else do
7:02 am
we know about the situation at this point. well nicky as you were saying most of this unfolded this incident was twofold and it unfolded this morning during the morning russia what it was it was a man in a rental car drove towards apparently purposefully drove towards a bus stop that was packed with people this is around nine fifteen this morning in the surtees district of mar say and there he seriously injured one man he then he fled the scene as ambulances and the emergency services arrived and then about three quarters an hour later he moved over to the eleventh district and then he also plowed into a bus stop and that's where he killed a woman who is reportedly in her forty's now the police have detained this man they say the suspect is around thirty they say thirty five years old and he is known to police for formal what they call delinquencies for other things that he's done but he's not been under any form of observation for anything else other than the fact that he was a criminal now that we do have a question here from the mosque
7:03 am
a prosecutor saying there is no evidence at this particular point in even less to qualify this as a terror attack so no confirmation that it is any motives they don't yet know the motive they're still interviewing the suspect but we have heard from police for everybody to avoid the old port area of maasai while the investigation is still underway ok thanks for that k.b. instant did come to light around about an hour ago so there will be keeping you up to date on all the latest information on that thank you that task a partridge in france for us. how fun is media fight in council on officials have identified you know the apple yaku as the man behind the wheel in the deadly barcelona van attack police believe the suspect may now have fled to france after running more than one hundred three and killing thirteen he reportedly scaped on foot through barcelona's famous markets lock area. is believed to have been part of a twelve. responsible for the deadliest terror attacks in spain in thirteen years
7:04 am
carried out last week where the manhunt for the barcelona drew. on a continuing ride can see and break down how open e.u. borders have previously played into the hands of to honduras on the run. this day and age of tootle surveillance radicals who are often known to police could move down more than one hundred people in broad daylight and get away they can cross twenty six european countries and there will be a single border checkpoint the entire way could the suspected barcelona have crossed into france we don't have any specific information on this but it cannot be ruled out frightening isn't it you would have thought europe might have learned its lesson the first time around or the second or the third how many terror attacks of their even being in the last three years the sad and tragic truth is europeans
7:05 am
have largely lost track hearts were broken by the attacks in paris nice berlin stockholm manchester london and other cities these days unfortunately the wave of international terrorism is brutally hitting us turning barcelona and campbell's into the latest scenes of terrorist injustice here is a little map of recent europe trips undertaken by jihad ists i miss marie runs over almost seventy people in berlin and makes it as far as italy before he's accidentally caught out mud mohammed travelled all the way from greece to france through at least eight european countries with a fake passport before blowing himself up in paris salah adel salam involved in paris attacks that killed and injured need five hundred people traveled through
7:06 am
at least nine european states before the attack. he was on terror watch lists and they eventually found him in belgium often it's been the case that the powers that the authorities already had weren't being used but notwithstanding that they then introduced the authorities the government's new legislation giving new powers to the police and security services notwithstanding that it wasn't any lack of those powers in the first place that led to the intelligence failures and it may well be that that's true here and the same applies to border controls well it remains a possibility then you may have crossed the spanish border anybody that knows our border knows that as indeed is the case throughout very much of western europe that those borders are extremely porous you can go across as a kind of in the back of a vehicle or even walk across in some cases they see it isn't punishment itself the deters crime it's the inevitability of punishment but thanks to europe's
7:07 am
open borders perspective terrorists can be sure no matter what they always have that chance to slip away. the grip of untying racism protesters have clashed with police in canada after they attempted to disrupt a right wing rally in the city of quebec. dozens of anti fascist protesters dressed in black through smoke bombs and firecrackers that police were trying to separate the two rallies the second was a plough and right wing a vent against the migrant policies of the canadian government the two sides also exchanged info.
7:08 am
meanwhile similar scenes also took place across the border in the u.s. where thousands of left wing activists showed up to confront a twenty people strong rally against illegal immigration. from two hundred wia police attended the scene in order to keep the peace two people were arrested a left wing activist for pushing a trump supporter and an unidentified person with a knife tensions between americans left and right have been increasing following the violence in charlottesville where a neo nazi round his car into a crowd of protesters. rallies as similar to the ones in california have taken place across america throughout the week the largest in the city of boston left
7:09 am
when protesters showed up to disrupt planned right when the events often resulting in clashes and arrests. one of the sides has upped the ante by launching a petition on the white house website calling for anti fog to be declared a terrorist organization nearly one hundred forty thousand people have already signed in just three days and now the administration has to issue a response. well i'm now joined by political analyst to discuss the situation further mr bowles michelin's you for joining us on the program now what do you make of the tactics being used by these left wing activists to show up and plant right wing events don't you think at the do you think it helps to prevent violence or any adds to the tensions. responsibility for keeping things peaceful lies with the police and we've seen several incidents in which the police have not done their job at all i don't know if that's intentional
7:10 am
to provoke a kind of a crisis or if it's just a failure to do their job but these two groups have to be separated and especially in the united states where there's a constitutional right of freedom of speech it's impossible to legally stop people from demonstrating so this is a problem that has to be dealt with within the system. people in the u.s. obviously appalled by what happened in charlottesville everybody was but how do you think these left wing protesters should show how they feel if not by showing the right wing demonstrations. there's nothing wrong with showing up at right wing demonstrations but there is something wrong with coming there with billboards and placards that you're only carrying for the express purpose of using the stick on which the paper is fastened as a battering ram or as as a sword or or as a baseball bat to hit your opposing demonstrators. you know if the
7:11 am
left and also if the right person to peaceful demonstrations there's nothing wrong here and what it seems to what seems to be the case here is that especially the side has been showing up masked and carrying weapons and has been attempting to provoke a crisis in america and that falls right in line with the attempt by the mass media and by the by the stubborn supporters of hillary clinton to create a political crisis in america so i i would not. be hesitant to guess that there is a connection here so i'm not know what are your thoughts on this petition is being launched calling for anti thought to be declared a terrorist organization well it's a big step to go from accusing some members of being violent which many of them are
7:12 am
and intentionally so to banning an organization on the grounds that it's purpose is to create terror i don't think that the white house will approve this and i don't think that they should and i don't think any democrat would approve the banning of any organization that doesn't expressly dedicated self to terroristic violence so i think the white house is going to have to play a moderate line here and is going to have to reject the petition but the petition will serve as a warning to organizers that they neither they either have to police themselves or they will be facing more serious sanctions in the future. well some of the rally has been held like the one in california last a protest against illegal immigration but immediately they were labeled fascists do you think it's all about labeling in the us now is some quick to people are so quick to label each other fascists. absolutely you know i think that if you interviewed one one hundred members of anti far and ask them what the
7:13 am
meaning of the word fascist is and what the history of the fascist parties in europe are they wouldn't know even the first word of how to answer that question so it's become quite unfortunately trendy in america to call any representative of authority either the police or the elected government a fascist organization i can tell you as a person who is a descendant of a family from europe which lost hundreds of members of our own family to fascism that there is a big difference between a policeman who arrests you in america and reads you your rights and a fascist soldier who shoots you without even seeing or talking to you. this is a. unfortunately this is an example of orwell's phrase in action ignorance is strength and the movement is working on the basis of complete ignorance about what
7:14 am
real fascism is their oath oh some extreme example is as well one american claims he was stabbed because official it had do you think what we're seeing now is a thought of which for right wing as well as so-called fascists. absolutely we're seeing even have the phrase for the salem witch hunt which which originates in the united states where they burned people if they if they didn't float on water and so on i mean we have an under educated mass population in america in which in high school the subject history is optional if people do not know history you can tell them that fascism is something completely different from what it really was if people don't know their own national history if they don't know the history of robert e. lee for example if they don't know the history of conscripted young men who were
7:15 am
just marched straight into the gray uniform of the confederacy without any choice if they don't understand that this pitting that they're doing on their fellow americans is going to be happening on their own graves when somebody in the future doesn't know the history of this year and comes to spit on their. political analyst john bosnich thank you for joining us on r.t. and sharing your thoughts on the prospects of violence have forced one canadian university to cancel a discussion on stifling free speech sounds off to a backlash from left wing activists on social media they accuse the events of giving a platform to quote sit down through our turn to disrupt it with a massive rally liason university set down the discussions fighting safety concerns so who are the speakers who caused such outrage among the left activists one of them is professor jordan pages and who studies controlled us with a war against political correctness especially when it comes to gender neutral
7:16 am
titles another was the behavioral scientist. who is against so-called thought police on campuses. it was quite extraordinary that the people who are organizing this protest who were trying to disrupt the event were accusing the speakers myself included of being fascists nazis anti semites what kind of person could actually accuse a person with my background of being a nazi and an anti-semite but in any case ryerson university has been canceled the event on the stifling of freedom of speech on campuses. i'm not sure that i need to say anything else. well it's why the speakers were a conservative journalist and a phycologist or an on let's say he says opponents decided to simply use labels
7:17 am
instead of having a productive discussion we're not promoting hatred or are promoting fascism bigotry or anything of the sort look at the truth behind the labels is what we're trying to promote so this was about trying to compel people to be able to speak up to be able to have again you know on this discussion civil discourse with people maybe you disagree with we're trying to promote the right way to have these kinds of discussions because it's not working the way it's been going for the last few years so identity politics people have become so simplistic that if you don't fit into this category that they like if you're not with them then you're automatically the enemy today's world if you aren't on the far left you are seen as a nazi and another blow is being dealt to islamic state militants in syria off their russian asteroid hit a convoy killing two hundred terrorists we've got this story and more coming your way after this short break.
7:18 am
what politicians do you suppose. they put themselves on the line to get accepted or rejected. so when you want to be president and you. want to be. too great to be this is what the three of them will be good. interested always in the long. haul the field we go through. every. experience we.
7:19 am
get on the old old. old according to josh. and i welcome back when islamic state suffered another significant blow in syria the us office convoy was hit by the russian air force that's according to the ministry of defense we can discuss this further now with. trying to india what are the details nicky hi well among the things that will help last in this strike by the washington air force are several tanks over two dozen armored vehicles with high caliber weapons on board plus more than two hundred terrorists have been killed as well this is according to the russian military now with these cuts. figures any such. strike would count as
7:20 am
a big success in any part of syria but let me just point out the strategic and geographical importance of this particular one this islamic state convoy was heading to the city of dare as zoar and as you can see on this map this city is still controlled by the syrian government but it has been completely encircled by islamic state for three years now the russian army is now saying that if they manage to kick out the state from this province and this case we will find ourselves in a situation essentially when we are very close to the end of islamic state in syria is indeed insignificant if it can gain and i thought has been losing a lot of ground in syria recently as well just look at this map the area which is black is indeed the areas that are still controlled body and soul but if we looked at this map just three weeks ago most of this area this is mostly the hama and homs
7:21 am
provinces was controlled by islamic state as you can see the yellow bits this is where the kurds and the allies have made significant gains north of their resort but again these particular gains and territorial advances advances by the syrian army they were made possible thanks to several successful operations by the syrian government army backed by the russian air force and as you can see in this particular case just east of hama they were even able to encircle islamic state.
7:22 am
now of course completely kicking state out of the air resort province is a massive challenge indeed a tough one but of course the military commanders in syria are contemplating bad day when that can be done because this will really signal the final chapter of islamic state in syria stay positive on that. thanks for the update. well the british prime minister to reason may has rejected an appeal by survivors and families of the nine eleven attack victims they were demanding the publication of a u.k. report into the role of saudi arabia in funding islamic extremism to see a check and has the story following a series of appeals actually from campaigners m.p.'s and other politicians here in
7:23 am
the u.k. nine eleven survivors now become the latest group to see a refusal from the british government to release the full contents of this quite controversial report focusing on extremist funding in the u.k. this was a report that was commissioned back in two thousand and fifteen and is largely believed to be focused on saudi arabia's activities and now the nine eleven survivors had sent a letter to theresa may demanding answers we respectfully urge you to release the report now finished and finished we asked you to consider all the victims of state sponsored saudi finance terrorism families in the survivors in the u.k. and all over the world the longer saudi arabia's complicity is hidden from sunlight the longer terrorism will continue while the british government has long maintained really for months now that diplomatic relations with saudi arabia have nothing to do with this decision to not reveal the contents of the report they've also said that it's actually reasons of national security as well as private information
7:24 am
contained in the report that's keeping them from publishing it and they've also said that the media has been misinterpreting this relationship with saudi arabia when it comes to this report let's take a listen to what theresa may had to say on this at some point bush explained to her refusal is simply because the contents of the report would embarrass the government's friends in saudi arabia or is it because ministers care rather more about arms sales to riyadh than they do about public safety. it is absolutely nothing to do with that there is there is certain confidential information in the reports that means that it would not be appropriate to publish it but my role. the friend the home secretary has made it available on the privy council basis to opposition parties well we have to keep in mind that despite the british government and the home office particularly saying that saudi arabia is not in fact the focus of this secret report and it's in fact something that looks at overseas funding in general criticism really has been running rampant that the british government would
7:25 am
have released this report if they had nothing to hide specifically these nine eleven survivors who had sent this letter in the latest plea to see the contents of call this decision of the british government quote shameful really believing that it's a special relationship that the u.k. has long had with saudi arabia this marriage of convenience this cozy relationship that has led the u.k. to decide to not reveal this information again and again we have to say that obviously this is something that the british government denies but does have quite a history of protecting the special relationship they have with saudi arabia now here's a quick reminder of how similar calls from families were made in the u.s. in two thousand and two the u.s. congress began its quire into the nine eleven attacks two years later the families have learned eleven victims sued saudi arabia reports of links between saudi government officials and the hijackers declassified pages of the enquirer of reports later confirms those links with congress then approving
7:26 am
a bill that allowed families to take legal action against the gulf kingdom with saudi arabia has repeatedly denied any involvement in the nine eleven attacks abroad eagleson lost his father in the tragedy he says the fact the u.k. report is being kept secret shows otherwise. it's very clear to us and all the nine eleven family members that there is a relationship that exists between our government and the u.k. government between saudi arabia that our governments do not want to inconvenience so they do not want to interrupt this report that we're requesting to be released would be a very inconvenient truth to both governments this report makes clear connections between terrorist financing and the government of saudi arabia right now we are in a legal case with saudi arabia and at stand right now we're going to court and court in the united states and we hope that court is really the only way that we think that the truth will prevail is just another small setback for us we've been
7:27 am
facing setbacks for the past sixteen years but we don't give up we think that ultimately light needs be shed on terrorism and this report will be that. good intentions without proper knowledge behind them sometimes real them thar i think was and that's exactly what happened with the new road safe account paying by transport for london. no all of those head scarves i don't wear
7:28 am
a headscarf and i know many people many of the people who don't that is not a function on who we are as muslims muslim women come in all shapes and sizes from all different types of nationalities different backgrounds of different ethnicities the company itself though one tank was misguided on the fact that so many people would have looked at this come and find the one that before she went went out makes me think that perhaps hopeful london they they perhaps need more drive us to training. will be back in about thirty minutes with more news in the meantime do get in touch and share your thoughts with us on facebook and twitter. here's what people have been saying about rejected in the senate it's full on. the only show i go out of my way to find you know a lot of the really packs
