i carried you have some firsthand accounts from witnesses of the deadly shooting us take a listen no i was inside. we refused to believe it was a shooting. until they just kept growing and growing and in. this stage and then everybody started flying and we started we had to have a gate to get out. it was crazy i've never seen anything like that now if i heard it. and they kept going even you have to be off it just kept going and going is it was the same. we also i was spoke with ben i can mock a terrorism and security expert about this shooting in las vegas. it seems to conform to other patterns of attacking venues where of course people to gather

for reasons of entertainment in this particular case through ninety one harvest festival so it does seem to conform to some of the things that seem to been happening of europe of late namely of course in stances where people are visiting a particular venue on mass and of course the spontaneous and incredibly damaging infliction of violence just seems to be quite an extraordinary thing and certainly when we have the attack of this scale and the nature of how it seems to be coordinated and understandably the police want to be sure. with whether they know it or not whether they say that they know that there are several individuals that need to have been noted one who's possibly been wounded but it's something to be sure to be precautious about as to whether there are in fact more individuals who are participating in this but it does remain to be seen whether the individuals who are connected do have. you know some similar is such

a go at pleasure seekers in las vegas if the race really means it could just be alienation or mental health issues farai sixteen's i mean you know where to stop there are so many. problems in that society and the easy access to having weaponry is i think going to cause more and more of these attacks. latest numbers we're getting well over one hundred people injured more than twenty people killed in this ultimately what it was a spraying of an automatic weapon into a crowd of innocent concert goers a families of all levels of generations mothers fathers children all sorts of people enjoying what was the final night of this route ninety one the harvest country music festival with so many people affected so many injured and so many dead as well police report his companion a person of interest is still large how much of a danger could this companion pose. quite significant i would assess. they would have had c.c.t.v. and hotel that be able to make

a speedy identification and track them down but that's going to be the primary objective after helping the injured and wounded. but yes it's an appalling attack one other aspect that concerns me somewhat is that with all the isis inspired attacks going on around the world that they might be encouraging triggering people to carry out similar style of tax against consequences for example whether or not they are inspired by isis whether they are inspired and have graduates for other reasons but they can see the effect on the ship terror that's produced by these attacks on big concert going crowd. down in the studio here again it seems the shooter was in the second the thirty second floor rather of the hotel nearby yet at least one automatic weapon perhaps even more simulate of our weapons as well and we've been discussing lapses in security of course hindsight is always a fantastic thing could this have been prevented with with metal detectors or with security etc but could a lapse of security have been behind this i mean gun laws in california. among the

more tough ones in the united states. how could this have been prevented if at all . i think it would be very difficult i mean there is a rampant black market in these sort of weapons but yes i mean someone checking into hotel going to hotel room with large samuel automatic weapons you think that would be slightly easier to support i would assume that the security at the hotel would be armed it was probably quite a speedy response if they stopped the attack relatively quickly but even so i mean what do you do you have metal detectors at every hotel entrance i mean that would be impossible to implement so this new reality of attacks is very difficult to try and counter and just sheer scale attacks not just terroristic but all these big mass casualty attacks becoming more difficult trying to suppress and try and stop ahead of time and we understand the police according to the official the las vegas metropolitan police department on twitter they are searching for two vehicles

possibly associated with the shooter ones. another one occur across nevada obviously is done was saying a moment ago the gun debate comes a you know upwards or front and center when something like this happens the police calling this. a local not related to terrorism what kind of reaction would you expect from the new us administration in the white house. imagine they'll be horrified very frightened for the citizens and there will be some sort of security crackdown and there probably will be a sort of ring of steel erected around las vegas and other recreational centers across the u.s. however trying to militate against a lone shooter is incredibly difficult as i said before unless you created a little ring of steel and check it when going into and out of these massive hotels it's very hard to see exactly what security response they can instigate in this obviously if there's some issue say for mental health if there was a local had

a grudge then yes they might need to tighten up the reporting of people with mental health issues as well you know the overlap between what could be terrorism or gang crime all mental health is usually quite stark and there should be indicators where people can say i'm concerned about this person they look like they may be a flip or whatever so i think you know there's sort of aspects of trying to highlight people who might be at risk of flipping into sort of activity ahead of their actual breakdown might be a good thing to do as well. as rory was saying of the every one of these attacks we do see the gun debate being read i read not a draw the last major attack in california specifically was of course san bernardino back in two hundred fifteen sixteen dead twenty four injured in that attack with the shooter using automatic weapons as well there's really two sides to this debate isn't there one for restricting the access to firearms to automatic weapons specifically the other one. was of course if everybody had access or easy

access to guns there could be this sort of you know good citizen that is armed that can intervene very quickly which is you know my half up in here in the sun believe you were talking remember there was a believe an officer who attended very quickly but he was unable to do anything because he had a handgun against an automatic weapon. what do you worry do you believe the answer lies here i mean would stricter gun controls actually prevent be able to even limit this sort of thing where as you said the black market will just appear and take over. well i have a very slow european sensibility towards this i don't think it's massive. access to very heavy weaponry as they having the states having said that if someone wants to do something they will find a way to get weaponry there's no doubt about his i mean we see this in europe as well you know there is a seed in that market. and attack is for example they had a semiautomatic weapons as well so if there is a will there will always be

police officer was again pressed to give detailed ones which he couldn't give twenty plus dead one hundred plus injured which puts this at one of the worst terror well one of the worst i should say mass shootings in california certainly in recent times. in las vegas a with this not a rooftop shooter but a thirty second floor shooter apparently on a balcony to a nearby hotel we understand that hundreds of police were very quick to respond to this shooting in las vegas at the mandalay bay casino just outside for the outdoor festival one user on twitter quickly saying i see people getting loaded on to bill and says another man who was near the stage told local reporters that his sister witnessed one concert goer getting shot in the head and we understand that there were hundreds of shots but the gunfire was actually rapid and reportedly confused with firecrackers dida police also asking for any videos from witnesses at the scene to be sent in to them we've seen many of them appear on social media very
