could have been in that group that was sprayed so for some reason i moved forward about twenty thirty feet that put me in a place where i wasn't subjected to. the firing and so first just fully and they became real then you saw simply die with your own eyes what would your mind the sound. a dead body i thought i was in a holocaust movie it just tripped me i couldn't believe israel kept some myself it's not real it's not real and it was so i could picture of my black gentleman with one of those light gray or those shiny green neon vests he's an usher and he's laying flat on his bag with a bullet in his head a pile of blood around i'm thinking holocaust movie how in the hell by end up here and just fear fear and then i end up getting right where i found him i was accident in his bottlenecked a bunch of people in another burst around started happening i happen to be near the metal structure of the protected the retreating stage so i hit the dirt mean

trip to the philippines was a last minute surprise when the shooter her live in boyfriend gave her a plane ticket to somehow. so that they can plan to have his blood meal without interruptions in that sense i thank him for sparing my sister's life but the one with the compensate the people. together no one except maybe no because the thought anymore on the man can maybe help. and that's exactly what authorities are hoping the f.b.i. was waiting for her in los angeles where she's sure to face of grilling as investigators try to figure out a motive authorities will likely ask her about the shooter's mask purchases of high powered weapons leading up to the attack and his finances along with

a reported one hundred thousand dollars he wired to the. we know the killer thought out the massacre in great detail even setting up cameras in the hotel there were two cameras located in the hallway. so that the suspect could watch is fortunate or security approached his room. and there was another camera placed inside the hotel room door people so that it could see down the hallway we still do not yet know if those cameras were recording and if such recordings have been recovered but we are getting a look through a different lens police body cameras as officers risk their own lives for others. the. crossfire. the garage of bullets continue with the officers take cover behind

vegas gunman a terrorist however according to nevada law he was just of that the last states and act of terrorism is defined as any act that involves the use or attempt at use of sabotage corrigan or violent which is intended to cause great bodily harm or death to the general population but even if the las vegas gunmen were deemed a terrorist by federal law it may not have made a different in two thousand and three the f.b.i. created the terrorist screening database an order to help the u.s. track terrorists and prevent any terror attacks from taking place in the u.s. however time and time again the system has proven to be for want just last year on june twelfth two thousand and sixteen omar matina carried out a mass shooting at an orlando nightclub killing forty nine people according to media reports matina was on the watch list and twenty thirteen yet was removed after just ten months this is just one recent example of how ineffective the f.b.i.

is white watch list can be joining me now to discuss this further is former f.b.i. agent and whistleblower colleen rowley thank you so much for joining us colleen now we live in an age where mass surveillance is prevalent so is it strange to you that the las vegas shooter was in one any watch list there are reports that he bought thirty three guns over the last year or should that have raised red flags. i don't think that's one of the factors that they're looking for to put people on the watch list they have over a million people and the watch list is is really not accurate or really a fair obviously as you mentioned it's not effective that's because it's not possible to profile future criminal activity things like committing suicide or any act of violence is next to impossible to predict from past actions you

know so you can you can guess at those things which is is what the terrorist watch list is but it's always going to be grossly false positives it's going to have a lot of people that would never commit anything that they put on there it's erring on the side of caution and it will also missed many people like the shooter in las vegas which to the nevada wall where it says the gunman was a terrorist out why is it that's being called domestic terrorism at the very least . well i i read that law in it's a little bit worded a little differently than most definitions of terrorism most definitions of terrorism call for a political motive so it has to be to coerce a political body now that remains unknown and that's why you know everyone is asking what was the motive here it looks to me from all the all that you can see so far at least unless they find a suicide note or something like that that this was one of those senseless suicide

homicide mash shootings that actually are more typical now then than someone who actually does have a political motive obviously mentally ill people and. vulnerable people who are just you know copycatting what they see as giving them some five seconds of celebrity or basically using a gun to shoot people as a way of solving their personal problems and that's hardly a political motive so i don't think this does at least from what we do know now does not really fit the definition of terrorism colleen in the past we've seen muslims and other minority groups targeted ads terror as however the mass shootings that take place here in the us are almost always carried out by a white man now and we're not calling this recent gotten a terrorist but why do we see this time and time again white men carrying out these mass shootings. what you can say if you get beyond all this compartmentalisation

and categorization according to motive and certainly i don't think it's really accurate to two are categorized by race except i think you have violence you know across the racial divides and across a lot age divides except but what you can say and this is very clear is that americans are committing more of these mass shooting violence than any foreign or even in a great person we have some of those but the majority are what they call homegrown americans that are again picking up guns going into a public place thinking that shooting a lot of people will solve their personal problems and they actually don't really fit the definition of terrorism but they are americans doing these things it's something it's something we need to ask about because we're getting a narrative i have always about terrorism that does not include it really kind of omits the mayor shootings and they've tripled maybe tripled in the past couple of

years colleen i want to go back to something you said earlier when we were talking about the f.b.i. out f.b.i. watch list and how we are saying that it's an effective so i like to know from you i do we have these types of watch lesson surveillance programs if they're not able to predict what could possibly happen in the future or stop these attacks like what took place in las vegas from taking place. you know what what is effective is sharing information with the public it's a very simple thing to do if there is some direct threat you share the information and sometimes a member of the public is in the best position to actually stop. an attack like this they may have some clue about a family member etc it's kind of what they say if you see something you know share it with because the government has not been really good at gaining trust of the people i think they've hurt their own efforts in trying to get more information from the public that's really the only thing that's effective these lists are are

something it's a busy work exercise and you know millions of dollars into the budgets of our homeland security and f.b.i. they have to show that they're doing something with that money but if they really analyze things like compiling lists and you have episode after episode where it's not possible to predict future behavior then i think it really is for not i really i think the other bad thing about creating the list is it gives the public the notion that they are on the problem and they're doing something about it so people then feel relieved as if they don't have to take responsibility themselves so there's actually a downside there are things that make sense but predicting future crime is not really possible at this time and in our history area colleen we're a little short on time a little less in thirty seconds of anything at what could end these mass shootings . well i think they need to work with hollywood in our mass media and to stop

investigation into alleged russian interference and the twenty six thousand presidential election senator mark warner said there was a large consensus about russians hacked into political files and released information and in that for to influence the election results to discuss this further we are now joined by dan cobol a professor of international human rights at the university of pittsburgh and author of the plot to scape go to russia how the cia and the deep state have conspired to villa five to ten thank you so much for joining us dan i want to start with on one hand the senate and investigative committee is saying they have not decided whether russia coronated what the trump campaign to influence the twenty sixteen presidential election but they also claim the issue of collusion is still open does this make any sense to you well no it doesn't you know we've been now over a year into this investigation into claims of collusion between trump and

russia in the two thousand and sixteen election so far they have produced not one shred of proof or even evidence of such collusion and in fact all these stories seem to fall apart. it once you get to the end of the story now they're just grasping at straws at facebook and twitter ads. for example the facebook ads by the way fifty six percent of the ones they claim were from russia didn't even appear till after the two thousand and sixteen election. there are some smoke here but there appears to be no fire and i think that you're going to see this investigation . dan to you at stateside say the department of homeland security is a wrong about election california and what's concent both say their election systems were not targeted and yet the fit committee said that one of the things

that was particularly troubling to both of us is the fact that. become evident twenty one states tural systems or not all penetrated there was at least it was at least. trying to open the door in these twenty one states those were warner said make any sense to you dan. no i mean the department of homeland security where those allegations came from ended up with tracting their claims because as you say to the states to the twenty one states said no we weren't hacked and the story from the department of homeland security fell apart they ended up. saying that in fact they were wrong that there weren't twenty one states that had been hacked and yet we continue to see these. false claims rehashed time and time again because again

the senate committee the f.b.i. they have nothing. on this whole scandal. and so they're trying to manufacture claims down you're limited to these facebook ads a little bit earlier that have been linked to russia and you said these ads they came away after the twenty six thousand elections what do you make of the claim that russia is somehow meddling and us the lections by buying ads about black lives matter an anti fracking issue yes so first of all there's been no evidence that i've seen even linking russia to such ads number one number two as i indicated over a majority of the ads they're pointing to came out after the two thousand and sixteen election. also twenty five percent of the ads the there pointing to were seen by nobody. but finally even if russia if we

assume argue endo that russia took out ads about such important issues why is this considered meddling. you know every country tries to influence somehow or other countries societies in fact the us probably is the most effective and aggressive country in the world at doing that you know we do that all the time through frankly you know hollywood movies. through our own media which appear throughout the world like c.n.n. is a great example of the voice of america which is even more blatant. i don't see an issue there again i think they're trying to make something out of nothing and dan speaking of hollywood movies let's talk about the highly promoted hollywood ad campaign with actor morgan freeman which accused russia of a lot alexion interference and claim russia was out war with the us what's your response to that ad campaign we have about
