constantly warned about the threat of terrorism terrorism is very real and very deadly however terrorism is not the primary killer in america america. is important but why is america. i'm natasha suite in las vegas and coming up at dorothy's link stephen power to two other rooms overlooking concerts have a security expert. and google has reportedly removed our team from a premium package of you tube channels will get line of take later in the show. it's thursday october fifth four pm in washington d.c. i'm ashley banks and you're watching our team america we begin today with new

developments out of wazza vegas as authorities continue their investigation into the deadliest massacre and modern u.s. history on sunday a gunman opened fire killing nearly sixty people and injuring more than five hundred others at a country music concert authorities are now saying sixty four year old stephen paddock also rented rooms overlooking two other music festivals one the las vegas and the other and chicago and he researched hotels near fenway park and boston for more we have live team coverage with simone del rosario in our d.c. news room well the latest on the investigation but let's start with natasha sweet and las vegas now that hotshot you spoke with a security expert on the matter what can you tell us. now that's right actually you know as investigators are still searching for a motive but they were to piece together some of stephen and i was last moved in addition to that your hotel room that you rent temperamentally bay hotel this past weekend authorities say that he rented other rooms were looking to other concerts.
4:02 pm
yeah ok after sunday's horrific massacre. there's a painful silence in the nation's party capitol very meticulously planned planned well. someone like that is hard to stop tommy burns retired henderson police chief who now runs a security consulting company questions why steven paddock rented a high rise condominium in september overlooking the life it's beautiful concert a similar move to renting the tearooms at mandalay bay overlooking the route ninety one concert sunday where he was that the life is beautiful concert down on downtown las vegas last week. allegedly read it at condominium overlooking the and either he was doing a dry run or he decided not to do it he was might of been playing the same thing meticulously planned on the worst domestic attack in united states history. as many of you already reported patrick read

a room at the top in hotel. in downtown las vegas investigators say padlock also rented a room at chicago's blackstone hotel which overlooked the park where the lollapalooza music festival was held well purses and bags are checked in open air venue's burns says shooting from an aerial position so now off guard i don't think anybody's ever thought of that i think it will change how. security new york marathon boston marathon las vegas marathon down on the strip but how will this change security burton says after the polls nightclub shooting in orlando vegas clubs acquired metal detectors in their clubs to prevent future mass shootings so what does it look like for hotels colburn says hotels here are secure doesn't compare to some other places internationally you know if you go to casinos say in russia or the middle east or something they do have armed security checking people checking i.d.'s checking bags he says an instable security is even one notch up with bag

screening you go to istanbul say i doso we just came back from there when your luggage comes at a hotel they run it through a better. vice like every airport. where they will see hotels do that in other words you're back you go through a screening device then you can retrieve him and take him to your room or staff take him to your room remains to be seen burns says hotel employees including housekeeping staff are trained to look for signs of terrorism. but burns believes that padlock used a do not disturb sign for privacy the policy on privacy is something burns says could very much change. now as we were checking into the hotel with our car and all of our camera gear the hotel staff was actually checking the very trunks of our car the pin for anything suspicious and it's something that burgess says that possibly aid in helping to prevent future attacks live in las vegas the toughest weeks are two things natasha speaking of security sweeps on cars simone

law enforcement is telling us more about the explosives found in the shooter's car what can you tell us about that actually police searched several compartments of the shooter's car and found that he was heavily armed with explosive chemicals fifty pounds of tanner right along with six hundred rounds of ammunition now tanner eye is used to form homemade exploding targets like you're seeing on your screen it consists of ammonium nitrate and aluminum powder and it needs some sort of ignition like a bullet to explode but it can do untold damage and may be key to understanding the shooter's plans even patrick is a man who spent decades acquiring weapons and ammo and lived in a secret life much of which would never be fully understood. he meticulously planned on the worst domestic attack the united states history. one of the most shocking revelations out of the latest police briefing is that authorities believe the killer may have had help share from bartow told media it's hard for him to
4:06 pm
believe that the shooter could have accomplished this elaborate plan on his own saying you have to make the assumption he had to have some help at some point and this is a huge twist in the investigation because up until now authorities have said he did act alone and there's been no evidence that we know of to indicate another person's involvement we do know the shooter at some point turned one of his many guns on himself but that may not have always been his plan police say the gunman left behind a note and it was not a suicide note the sheriff said he saw evidence that he intended to escape but would not yet a library now trying to piece together a motive authorities interviewed the gunman's girlfriend who just returned to the country from the philippines through a statement read by her attorney she says she was devastated by the death and injuries that she knew the shooter as a kind and caring man and had no idea what he was planning. he never said anything to me. or took any action that i was aware of. that i understood it
4:07 pm
anyway to be a warning that something horrible like this was going to happen. a little more than two weeks ago. steven told me he found the cheap ticket for me to the philippines and that he wanted me to take a trip home. to see my family. as for the one hundred thousand dollars wired to her in the philippines daley said he told her it was to buy a house for the two of them one like the aftermath of most mass shootings in this country it seems some gun regulation is being looked at just days after the massacre and it has to do with the shooter's use a bump stocks authorities say twelve of the twenty three rifles inside the hotel room were modified to allow legal semi automatic weapons fire even faster here's an example of a weapon that's been. outfitted with this modification. you
4:08 pm
can see right there it allows hundreds of rounds to be fired by the minute and republicans are expected to introduce legislation today in congress to ban the sale of bump fire stocks the efforts being headed by a florida republican carlos corella the white house has said it's open to it and on top of that the n.r.a. released a statement today saying it believes that devices designed to allow semiautomatic rifles to function like fully automatic rifles should be subject to additional regulations the n.r.a. also asked the bureau of alcohol tobacco firearms and explosives to review whether they are even legal in the first place the n.r.a. already bans the use of fire systems at its firing ranges because of increased safety risks we'll be keeping a close eye on any legislation that comes out of this development ashley. in the news room in the taj this week reporting in las vegas thank you both. but there we have massacre in modern u.s. history with carried out by
4:09 pm
a gunman who show little to no signs of wanting to harm anyone leaving many to wonder how could this have possibly taken quaids joining me now is dr monica williams director of the center for mental health parity and brain sciences at the university of louisville kentucky and columnist at psychology today thank you so much for joining us dr williams why are these most of these mass shootings that we think carried out here in the u.s. carried out by white men well that's a really good question and i think the answer comes back to our culture i mean our society actually creates them white men are taught through everything that they see and experience in our culture that they're uniquely privileged special and entitle and they deserve all the great things like halfs has to offer so you know we basically inst still narcissism in our white men which clinically is only a stone's throw away from psychopathy and so sometimes when people with this mindset don't feel they have gotten all they deserve in life they blame everyone
4:10 pm
else and in extreme cases this can be a mass shooting especially if someone is already mentally imbalanced dr williams you mentioned an issue here and us culture us society how can not be worth right well i think a lot of it has to do with reversing the the expectation of white privilege which is kind of a taboo topic we don't like to talk about but the fact is white privilege is the is the necessary corollary to racism and oppression you can't have one group that's oppressed without having another group that's unfairly privileged so we have to be willing to have these discussions to figure out how we can create a more fair and balanced society for now i want to talk about the gunman he has had no history or run ins with the law so how can someone that appears to have shown no red flags do something so extreme. right well i mean usually when you look at these cases there are warning signs and you know we don't we haven't really seen
4:11 pm
a lot of warning signs in this case and we've seen a few small things that indicate that you know maybe he will route sometimes but sometimes you can't you can't always predict situations like this and sometimes they're they're just random now that being said i do think that this situation could have been predicted because actually there was one really big clue he had a room full of deadly high capacity guns and he bought those guns legally and i mean anyone who buys thirty three guns in one year i mean that right there tell the truth there's a warning and if anyone had been keeping track of it they might have looked into him they might have seen he had a psychiatrist they might have contacted his psychiatrist and said hey is it a good idea for this guy to have forty seven firearms a guy with a compulsive gambling problem and clinical anxiety should he have forty seven guns i mean if the police knew he was having those guns and that he had these mental
4:12 pm
problems maybe you would have kept an eye on him through saying dr williams this could have been prevented if someone were monitoring him all right now and the gunman the actions they show a lot of rage and they can you explain to us what does this tell you about his mindset right well sometimes when people don't feel they're getting everything that they deserve when they think that they have a right to be happy and they're not especially if they have this narcissistic mindset. looks like we lost dr williams there hopefully we'll have her in the next hour on that with dr monica williams now to washington d.c. where the senate intelligence committee held its first news that briefing and months yesterday the committee has been focused on a russian meddling in possible collusion with the truck campaign and for more on this we now go to ad schulte host of the news with ed schulte senators burr in warner delivered a bipartisan assessment in agreement with the i.c.c.
4:13 pm
a stating they believe russia meddled in the two thousand and sixteen election we're developing a clearer picture of what happened. what i will confirm is that the russian intelligence service is determined clever and i recommend that every campaign and every election official take this very seriously as we move into this november's election and as we move into preparation for the two thousand and eighteen election after conducting over one hundred interviews along with two hundred fifty hours of dedicated research reviewing four thousand pages of transcripts and over one hundred thousand documents there is no smoking gun on russia's influence on the two thousand and sixteen election although the committee is sure of the outcome we can certifiably say that no vote totals were affected that the tallies are accurate the outcome of the election based upon the count of votes. they they did not in any way
4:14 pm
shape or form that we've been able to find alter that as for the trump campaign in collusion with russia this part of the investigation remains open the steel dossier on trumped remains unconfirmed the president has called this entire ordeal a witch on and a hoax saying there was never any collusion president is here reading any talk. of you going through all the documents you're going to be able to point the way i'm going to let you guys a quote the president and ask him questions about what he said is not going to be the committee where we're going to have very good ever since allegations first emerged of russian enter appearance in the twenty six thousand presidential election last year r.t.f. felt itself basing on president pressure and the us r t the editor in chief margarita simonyan addressed these concerns though and you don't know him until recently no active missions except those targeting our reputation has been taken
4:15 pm
against us in the u.s. specifically new air outs have we ever experienced the kind of pressure that we. experience today in the us to the point eventually being forced out of the country . it's a cookham you make it look as if we've done something obscure shady legal wishes of close since twisted contacted us with that proposal before the election they showed us a presentation of the advantages told us how much it would cost and we agreed the us mainstream media is determined to prove russia gate despite various and consistencies and they're reporting now it's social media companies are facing mounting pressure to join in the campaign against our team for example facebook executives were reportedly visited by politicians wielding enormous influence three times you for finally detecting one hundred thousand dollars worth of ads with suspected links to rush over a period of three years as include senator mark warner the vice chairman of the
4:16 pm
senate intelligence committee and a leading legislator and the tech industry however one hundred thousand dollars worth of facebook ads pales in comparison to facebook and all revenue which amounts to approximately twenty seven billion dollars while two hundred in one twitter account also comprises a shockingly small margin of twitter's three hundred twenty eight million monthly users despite these glaring omissions in mainstream reporting our team now finds itself the target of the foreign agent registration act the same after after during the one nine hundred thirty six counter nazi propaganda. possibly making matters a worse google has reportedly removed r t from a premium package of you tube channels without warning joining me now to discuss this further is legal and media analyst line of life media why not do you believe the removal of r t from the premium package of you tube channels is that all
4:17 pm
related to the accusations that russia meddled and the twenty six thousand elections. let me see yes yes absolutely instead of pile on it's whatever you say sure russia just r t nobody yells no other countries no no other news platform nobody just them but to be fair you know actually youtube is under or alphabet or whatever google is under a lot of pressure because this was the group who basically allowed advertising for isis oh heck and be headings and you know if you're so macaroni and cheese govern you say why why are our ads on ice is so there's no we got to do something so they went crazy clawing back then they were giving
4:18 pm
a hard time because of conspiracy theories who by the way have won big in common they're popular he see if four people watch r t nobody care this is a five billion views this must kill them because of the revenue no they're making because our i mean you tube makes money on this so they're they're having to do whatever they can to appease this drumbeat this pitchfork and and this this this this crazy torch atmosphere of let's get russia so i guess they figure ok but let me just explain something you tube and this is one of the largest if not the largest moves platforms perry. period so you've got five billion views of people who i don't know like can't find it interesting youtube is making a fortune on this so i must kill them but you actually are still question yes of
4:19 pm
course whatever to get the government off our back shore are to yeah whatever will will will will devote a ties of whatever just leave us alone and whining like you're saying obviously this is a big deal if you can for us i want you to define the term meddling and how that differs from providing and permission i wish i knew i wish to to date i have been so scrupulous actually i'm a lawyer by profession and i believe in accusation that indictments and words mean something and when you charge somebody with interference or meddling collusion interfering obfuscating i mean i don't even know what these words mean but they have been said was such frequency and was sucked fervor and with such reputation that the american public have bit you waited to what were they think there's a statute they actually think that somewhere in the united states code title eighty
4:20 pm
that there's something called meddling and because americans i'm sorry to say don't go beyond the headlines after they've heard of the ten million times they've been brainwashed to talk about propaganda they've been brainwashed into thinking that something occurred noticed nobody is talking about hacking anymore remember that russians were hacking their real life we're going nowhere with that so now it. would be interfering with maybe the theme next maybe that maybe that's what they used but there is no such thing information of one man's meddling of the other man's information it makes no sense why no is the freedom of speech issue. in spirit but the freedom of speech of first amendment applies to the federal government the state government the government now if you could make the argument that somehow a governmental directive that government ordering government telling
4:21 pm
a private individual private interest and simply private company though there's a whole we've been questions about darpa and who owns google and that's another story but if you could make the argument that they're acting basically at the behest or the direction of the government then all of a sudden a weird kind of acquires a governmental stage you tube and google becomes almost an agent or a deputy of the government but other than that if it's a purely corporate entity without any corporation whatsoever they can they can have their own terms and conditions or old terms of their own t.o.s. in terms of service that they themselves can regulate to provide an atmosphere that comports with the message that they want to provide to you know advertisers and the like but actually caught my eye we know what you know what i know what i have read body knows what this is about and let me also just say this you better watch what you're doing because people americans have a funny sense of noticing the paella and we take great umbrage when we say ok
4:22 pm
that's enough you've been hitting us with this russian stuff over and over and over not to mention i don't know if anybody's thought about this you know the publisher the r.t. is getting do i have to tell you you can't buy this you know i'm not a conspiracy theorist i'm a conspiracy analyst and if i didn't hold better i'd swear what is this a deal r t doubt is the most hallowed dead platform of them all the others are saying how do we get on board line alike made behave babble of a city and you know it's good. you know thank you so much for this me and i know why no media thank you so much thank you. here in washington d.c. the house passed a four point one trillion dollar budget promising to pursue deep cuts to social programs while paving the way for the republican party to rewrite the tax code later in the year and a two hundred nineteen to two hundred sixty vote lawmakers approved
4:23 pm
a budget resolution for two thousand and eighteen that sets up a process for shielding the g.o.p. tax bill from a filibuster in the senate the plan to overhaul the current tax code as projected to add an estimated one point five trillion dollars to the deficit over the coming decade and also calls for more than five trillion dollars in spending cuts over the next ten years and promises to slash matt medicaid by one trillion dollars additionally the budget rican silly at rules would also reportedly allow republicans in the senate to pass tax reform without any democratic votes. boom bust is coming up next here on our team america lindsey france joins us for a quick preview hi there lindsay hey one major insurer is canceling its coverage every strong opioid drug we're going to take a look at that and the house of representatives has a budget resolution that we need to look at very closely and of course the dow

i do not know if the russian state hacked into john podesta emails and gave them to wiki leaks but i do know barack obama's director of national intelligence has not provided credible to support his claims of russia i also know he perjured himself in a senate hearing planned three months before the revelations provided by edward snowden he denies the deep n.s.a. was carrying out wholesale surveillance of the u.s. . the hyperventilating corporate media has once again proved to be an echo of government claims that cannot be verified you would have thought they would have learned something after serving as george w. bush's useful idiots in the lead up to the fate of iraq. it is vitally important that the press remains rooted in a fact based universe especially when we enter an era when truth and fiction are

becoming indistinguishable. i think the average viewer just after watching a couple of segments understands that we're telling stories in our critics can't tell you know why because their advertisers won't let them. in order to create change you have to be honest you have to tell the truth parties able to do that every story is built on going after the back story to what's really happening out there to the american what's happening when a corporation makes a pharmaceutical that chills people when a company in the environmental business ends up polluting a river that causes cancer and other illnesses they put all the health risk all the dangers out to the american public those are stories that we tell every week and
