coming up on our deescalation on the korean peninsula more missiles from the u.s. are on their way to south korea as reports suggest the u.k. could be caring up for war and fires raging across northern california leaving over a dozen dead and thousands of homes destroyed. than that your fifth story some helpful data but would it be too helpful to detail later in the show. good evening it's tuesday october tenth five pm in washington d.c.
5:01 pm
i'm on your parm pill you're watching our team america we begin this hour amid ever increasing tensions between the united states and the democratic people's republic of korea the u.s. is preparing for yet another round of joint military exercises with the republic of korea in the south this time the u.s. plans to send a nuclear powered submarine armed with one hundred fifty four tomahawk missiles to the peninsula that's according to a south korean media outlet reports say the u.s.s. michigan is slated to arrive at the port city of tucson south korea this weekend by next week the submarine will reportedly conduct joint military drills with the u.s.s. ronald reagan a u.s. aircraft carrier simulating all out war against the north d p r k considers these drills to be very provocative and has offered to halt its nuclear program if the u.s. puts an end to these drills meanwhile today defense officials in south korea's. say
5:02 pm
they believe a special forces for the korean people's army conducted training exercises to practice infiltrating the south korean u.s. combined forces command by paraglider in september a south korean lawmaker also accused the d.p. r. k. of deploying hackers to steal highly classified military documents including details of a quote decapitation strike against the north in other words a plan designed by south korea to remove north korean leader kim jong il in all this comes as the workers' party of korea marked the seventy second anniversary of its founding in the north. with president trump repeatedly threatening to destroy north korea britain has now dived into the mix and is currently drawing up battle plans to help the u.s. if a war with north korea becomes reality with the latest here's our teeth alex in hell of a chin toronto they know full well that if the u.s. jumps into a war with north korea they might be one of the first ones asked to come along for
5:03 pm
the ride and just to think about that the fact is that these guys have started writing up plans on how they would help the united states in a war against north korea now we know the brits historically speaking have always had a pretty incredible navy and they still do to this day and what they are considering doing is adding to their arsenal with him as queen elizabeth now here we got some stats on this big boat this is an aircraft carrier and it's brand new it's not supposed to be put into commission until two thousand and twenty two with about three point nine billion dollars to ship a three thousand separate compartments four hundred thirty one cabins and sixteen hundred bombs and it can hold up to thirty six f. thirty five b. stealth fighter jets a lot of planes with a lot of firepower but the question is will the u.s. even need the brits in a situation like this we know that the u.s. have a formidable force in the pacific ocean already and whatever the brits can do would probably take a bit of time for them to get their boats out there first of all and second of all
5:04 pm
the u.s. army or the u.s. navy i should say in this case it's pretty powerful on its own so many british people are questioning why britain would even get into this game knowing full well this really is not their battle other than the fact that they're secretary of defense keeps telling them that north korea has missiles can reach london more easily than they can reach los angeles since london is actually closer geographically speaking. well is it as simple as that then alex the fear mongering or the traditional ally ship with the united states why is britain being so. when it comes to north korea well extremely hawkish and it seems all to be coming out of mr felos the man that i just mentioned and i'm going to give you a quote by him and this is quite interesting is sort of to get the idea of where this man's mind is today the nuclear dangers are intensifying from a reckless north korea and increasingly aggressive russia nuclear weapons remain the only credible way to deter the most extreme dangers reminding any aggressor
5:05 pm
that the benefits of an attack would be vastly outweighed by the consequences and that the british defense secretary michael fallon saying now michael fallon look the west has a lot of reasons to be afraid of what's going on six nuclear tests in recent months a couple of missiles shot over japan by north korea but the fact of the matter is you have to kind of sit back and think about why is this going down kim jong il is not a stupid man or a good kim jong un i should say he's not a stupid man he's looking at the situation where you saw somebody like gadhafi go down somebody like sadam hussein go down because they didn't have deterrence so he's trying to protect his own regime with the type of weaponry and he's asking to negotiate he's telling president trump let's talk about you guys sending all these weapons doing these drills over in south korea so that's one big thing and one thing that mr fallon does not address is that china is the factor here not the brits not the u.s. china is the country that's dealing most closely with north korea china has put up
5:06 pm
some stringent sanctions against north korea china can get the job done and for some reason now the brits are saber rattling as well we also know that mr fallon though recently has asked for more money for defense so that could all be playing a part of this in this as well as it sits with the ministry of defense in britain they are saying they would like to see a peaceful resolution a diplomatic resolution to all this and what we're seeing is you know a lot of as i mentioned saber saber rattling and a lot of push for a war that really doesn't need to happen well even if the war it doesn't happen alex it seems that all the favorite going will keep weapons makers that here and in the u.k. very happy alison held that reporting in toronto thank you so much thank you. for some analysis let's turn to paul khalifa martin at the senior director at peace action i welcome paul with all the escalations we've seen and recent weeks
5:07 pm
including the president and sanctions recently put in place against north korea is the u.s. helping the situation by deploying a submarine more messala than holding these drills with south korea i don't think so i think we continue to escalate this situation and people ask are we going to go to war with north korea i think we are already at war with north korea not alone we not only are we on the word of war between the two leaders continuing to. threatening each other with nuclear weapons that could kill hundreds of thousands if not millions of people but also there's probably a cyber war going on there's no doubt that north korea has been escalating its cyber warfare against various countries and my guess is that the u.s. is using similar type attack their tactics against north korea so we're already at war now we're going to be at a war that ends up killing what some people say upwards of a million people in the korean peninsula if
5:08 pm
a war were to break out that's the main question and so how do we make sure that doesn't happen to know anything that's all that in the past the certainly been diplomacy as the former speaker just said there's only a diplomatic solution here and there is no military solution any military solution with can bring us into world war three or into a war that's going to kill millions of people right in an eye in a way this entire conversation about the possibility of war kind of shows you how deterrence least on the north korean side has worked i mean the reason we can't escalate militarily in the way we constantly hear about in the media is because everyone seems to agree and the cost would be too high because north korea has invested so much in defending itself. yes specifically certainly on nuclear weapons we may have tried some other sort of strategy though there is the geo political question seems that your former guest mentioned which is you know china i mean
5:09 pm
china would not look very favorably on any kind of military intervention by the u.s. into billboard korea so there are those that those could be thought out as well but it's clear that we should probably consider north korea and for weapons they at this point they have shown military to detonate a fairly significant piece for weapons they have decent missile technology i mean it's not certainly clear whether or not that type knowledge will allow a nuclear weapon to actually survive. coming in the atmosphere from an intercontinental ballistic missile but you know you just have to assume that this is the case at this point. so we are now looking at you know war of words between these two nuclear weapons state in which the u.n. has just passed a treaty saying you go welcome to should be illegal because of the managerial consequences of the use of nuclear weapons which most of us can't even imagine but we are talking about millions of deaths and the possibility of a piece of land not being able to use for
5:10 pm
a long period of time on the question of constant escalating rhetoric and actions however as the north has repeatedly said it would freeze its nuclear program if the u.s. halted drills he's doing drills they hold with south korea on a yearly basis what's preventing negotiations at this point. i don't think there's anything preventing a negotiation then certainly mine is standing that there are certain back channel conversations being had difficult to tell exactly what the president means we've seen presidents say very nice things over and over again only to do the exact opposite but we also know there's disagreement within the current administration with various parts of the state department or even on the department of defense who know that a war certainly a nuclear war or another war would not be good so i think that there are certain
5:11 pm
conversations happening. already washington like doesn't seem willing to accept the that's starting point for negotiations at least at this point because they're running low on time i want to move along with about a minute last and it's been reported this week that trump and ministration may decertify the iran nuclear deal can you explain to our viewers how that might impact the situation with respect to north korea as well. so this just shows how diplomacy works iran was maybe three months away if it so chose to be able to make a very crude nuclear device because of the iran agreement negotiated by world powers not just the u.s. but this isn't a multilateral agreement including russia. now iran is at least a year away if it's decided and it has the most the highest level of verification and people monitoring their nuclear systems
5:12 pm
and the country so we're that is the made america and the world safer now trump wants to decertify that and perhaps unravel that agreement and what is north korea going to think here's a country that we are up for our word we said one thing that we would do one thing and iran has been in compliance and calling to all all levels of experts and now we're going to basically renege from the deal and so how does that make us a good actor in other negotiations such as north korea is a good question we'll have to see what the rest of the international community will have to say if we indeed move on with that decision here in washington paul klee kai martin senior director at place action thanks a lot. coming up on our team claim of the engulfing california strength thousands of homes and the story after a short break. guys i made a professional is powerpoint to show you how artsy america fits into the greater
5:13 pm
media landscape our team is not all right but we are a solid alternative to the. liberal or conservative and as you can see from his bar graph we don't skew the facts either talking have left these talking head righties oh there you go above it all to look at world r.t. america is in the spotlight now every really i have no idea how to classify as it actually took me way more time than i care to admit. people have got to know whether or not fair present or support american people deserve to know your difference at this point does it make must guard against the military industrial war we shall never want to go. or should know that. we do what we. think.
5:14 pm
mark twain said it's easier to homeschool people than to print them they've been for that could be why america is so divided because people have been fed fake news paid for by corporate interests they beat you down until you believe they're fairly . well here's a story for it's called big and it's full of that which you.
5:15 pm
welcome back to our team there in california wildfires are raging across the northern part of the state killing more than a dozen people thousands have been ordered to evacuate as firefighters continue to battle fires in eight different counties today president trying to clear the situation to be a major disaster and ordered federal aid to be directed to those in need here's our correspondent actually banks with more officials are saying at least thirteen people are now dead after fires ripped through northern california more than one hundred people have been hospitalized and several others have been reported missing so far twenty thousand buildings including the homes and businesses have been destroyed and at least twenty thousand people have been forced to evacuate california governor jerry brown has a clear to state of emergency in napa sonoma county officials say it all began on sunday when at least seventeen fires were ignited according to experts during the month of october california experiences
5:16 pm
a very dry conditions so that couple with the diablo winds fanned the fires using wind gusts of up to seventy miles per hour so far these fires have burned more than seventy three thousand and eight years and the northern part of the state mostly concentrated in so know my and napa counties which are the heart of wine country a place known for its a world class of vineyards is now the scene of despair one resident described the scene as armageddon many witnesses believe the vineyards will suffer significant damage causing a shortage of grapes for years to come eleven o'clock somebody came around honking their horn like just crazy just like what is going on but i don't know what inspired me to look up my bedroom window because it's in the back of the house and the car was in the for the house but i drew my blinds and just. flames all up on the hill behind my house so of course i panicked i'm still shaking. went out and they were screaming fire fire fire get out get out so that's when i called my
5:17 pm
neighbors were all together and we all just got their cars and left i've got my cat in the car over there and that's about it i'd like to crash i didn't grab my my travel bag and. my laptop becoming laptop. according to reports in santa rosa which is the largest city in sonoma county things seem to be added to worth only seven people died in the city since sunday and countless structures were completely destroyed including the hilton hotel kaiser permanente evacuated one hundred thirty p. friends from an santa rosa medical center by bus an ambulance monday morning and sutter santa rosa regional hospital evacuated all of its patients all schools in the county were closed today and so were several roads that the county fire chief barry beermann spoke during a press conference working very closely with our law enforcement partners who were able to work on the evacuations to get folks out of the area where the fire was it
5:18 pm
was a difficult job and there are definitely numerous structures that were consumed during the beginning phases of this fire and still at this point due to the multiple fires and limited resources continue to be a challenge for us and start prioritizing the different fires in this unit where aircraft can be used based on visibility but that is a top priority for this department in this county is to get their resources in here to assist us because as of right now with these conditions we can't get in front of this fire and do anything about the four progress. at this time the fires remain uncontained then may continue to spread due to gusty winds and washington national banks are t.v. has been more than a week since sixty four year old stephen paddick opened fire on twenty two thousand concert goers and security killing fifty eight and injuring hundreds yet still the timeline of one of the worst mass shootings in the us history it keeps changing
5:19 pm
police now say patrick shot an unarmed hotel security guard roughly six minutes before he turned his weapons on the route ninety one country music festival from his mandalay bay window last week police said patrick fired into the crowd and then shot hotel security investigating the thirty second floor with the investigation still under way unloaded and even certain elements of the timeline remain unclear. kicking in with international headlines now catalan president charles pritam long says catalonia will postpone is declaration of independence for a couple of weeks he says the region won the right to break away from spain in its referendum but will make way for dialogue for more we go now to ana stasi a tricky here in barcelona as well as from the caps one region and certainly in part we have seen protests of people coming out on the streets we've seen crowds in support of independence we see people demonstrating for unity and certainly the
5:20 pm
details with reference to god warm that's the best that people were not willing to back down when it comes to being able to vote for reference for independence of testimony but keep in mind that a proper first image is the first wave of the world of who we were polity that unraveled the people try to make it to the polling stations in the daily to go up to the referendum web sites were blocked that were related to the topic of the referendum we've seen police officers the ballots drop them drug voters around certainly images that were considered shocking. so all of those people are ready to come out and support the issue for independent of independence no matter what the outcome is puts them on the catalan leader himself has said he would really not back down he even at some point had said that he would be ready to go to jail for the issue of independence he said that independence would be proclaimed within forty or forty eight hours of counting out counting up the so referendum results but certainly that rhetoric today the window let's take
5:21 pm
a listen. we ask for a mandate to declare catalonia an independent state. with all due respect i asked parliament to suspend the declaration of independence just so that in the coming weeks we can undertake a dialogue going. well despite all of the anxiety and build up in anticipation for those who did come out in support of independence we didn't see the capsule leader really use much more calm language he talked about dialogue and negotiation with madrid he talked about how powerful and there are still europeans he switched to the spanish language at some point and he certainly made it clear that this declaration of independence that so many were looking out for is not going to be taking place quite yet he did say that any declarations would be suspended within the next couple of weeks for negotiations with madrid to be able to take place but this is not really seen as a huge coincidence given how much pressure was coming out of madrid recently. i
5:22 pm
said to people that they should be absolutely assured that the government is going to block any independence declaration that might be expressed. disagree with the law but you cannot disobey the law if you disobey the law to become an outlaw or the president of the governments of those the governments of cuts alone you who have broken the law to return to live free most so therefore place themselves within the constitutional order. well now that puts them on seems to really listen to the calls coming out of madrid as well as throughout europe with so many politicians calling upon him to take it down a notch and potentially not declare this independence that people here might have voted for in the reform and it's going to be interesting to see how all of those people that were cracked down upon on the day of the referendum and did indeed go out and support and vote and expected these promises to be kept are going to be
5:23 pm
a reaction. to paris now are police have used tear gas during part of a nationwide strike against the government french unions called on five million civil servants to walk out of their jobs and join in over one hundred thirty planned marches against president macro and labor reforms a number of arrests were made as protesters clash with police already charlotte even ski has more on what started as a peaceful rally. well that piece is police have been firing tear gas on the protest is he in paris now we're in the middle of a crowd i'm going to give you a sense of like how angry people are we've got still finds me unhappy about it because they hate to see you support that teaches the hospital workers and the rest of the civil servants who are taking place in this nationwide day of protests around five million people represented by those unions who called them to come out
5:24 pm
on strike and it was peaceful but i think if you improve along just nation two it's nation in paris you see in some of the damage caused by the protesters we've seen people leave this time impacted by the effects that she cast the people here are unhappy about what they see is the money going government's cuts to the civil service the strike took a hundred twenty thousand jobs to be cuts over the next five days a pay freeze and many people feeling that mr mack just doesn't represent the working class in fact many people think that mr macro is actually still showing contempt for the working class in the pot in the past as well last and that feeling fairly indiscriminate about how he has discussed protests is what he thinks of them take a listen to what he said previously it will be absolutely determined i will not give you any way not to slack is not to cynics not to extremists well let's be clear who
5:25 pm
the slackers are according to mark wrong that's all workers are slackers slackers are the people who work hard to earn a living to feed their family to pay their debts their mortgages this is purely a provocation from the head of state and from the government meaning that slackers wake up every day to go to their inner prices to work this is just some of the damage to public property here in paris to protest is making fun of what michael had said it says finial which basically means i am a. making a joint there's comments by mr mock on many of the people on this process say they want to see the pay freezes and they want to have better with her decisions and this is what they've been telling us all here really is currently mccrone is the president for the reach the rights of public workers are violated not protected to told follow stole their way through point to fulfill his promises to be fiercely for he has not kept and university made to the public sector judging by the
5:26 pm
measures he's taken he's concerned about the rich. of the republic and would like to balance the top of social equity the law says i thought it was for me just part of the fight against the labor law and the ordinance of the french government so what's the impact on services across france well the unions say fifty five percent of the teach is in paris a taking part in the strike today meaning that seventy schools have been closed many hospitals judicial services and tribunals will see delays as a result of these protests on many airlines have canceled their flights with the civil aviation authority telling allies to cancel at least thirty percent of their flights which is left many people stranded in france but the one thing that unites all of the people taking part in this national day of action today is that they're
5:27 pm
all on happy with the cuts of the mako government and a president who many people say is a president just for the rich not the working class. all she paris. coming up on our t.v. and update on the so-called russian cape and all we have the details in just a moment. the marketplace. easier to homeschool people than to mince them they've been fools that could be why america is so divided because people have been fed the fake news paid for by corporate interests they beat you down until you see leave their fairy tales well here's a story for you it's called big and it's full of bad fiction. what

politicians do. i put themselves on the line they did except that all the checked. so when you want to read for us and she. was somehow wanted. to do i would be first to see what the. three of the more people. interested in the was. there should. i think the average viewer just after watching a couple of segments understands that we're telling stories that our critics can't tell and you know why because their advertisers won't let them. in order to create change you have to be honest you have to tell the truth parties able to do that
5:29 pm
every story is built on going after the back story to what's really happening out there to the american what's happening when a corporation makes a pharmaceutical victuals people when a company in the environmental business ends up polluting a river that causes cancer and other illnesses they put all the health risk all the dangers out to the american public those are stories that we tell every week and you know what they're working. welcome back to our team there newly disclosed e-mails appear to refute allegations of collusion between the trump campaign and the russian officials the revelations first reported by the wall street journal pertained to the infamous russian meeting organized by donald trump jr during the two thousand and sixteen presidential campaign for more recross live to artie's marina important in miami all right
5:30 pm
marina according to reports special counsel robert mueller has been aggressively investigating the june twenty sixth meeting between a russian lawyer and top aides to president donald trump what are we learning new about that meeting today well the newly disclosed e-mails we're talking about provided to the paper shed light on the period leading up to the two thousand and sixteen meeting at trump tower involving donald trump jr jarrett questioner and paul man of war along with russian lawyer natalia vessel a sky and her entourage vessel a scalia says she requested the meeting to argue her case for overturning the magnitsky act a u.s. law targeting russian human rights abuses the president's son meanwhile expected damaging information and opposition research about hillary clinton and claims he cut the meeting short when they're still in the sky and started talking about matters related to russian i'd option now e-mails provided to the paper or
5:31 pm
reportedly shows correspondence between vessel in the sky and azerbaijani russian billionaire are as a go go rob of excuse me they reportedly begin the emails in october two thousand and fifteen one vessel and sky are for shared information about her anti me magnitsky efforts with a russian prosecutor in the e-mails vessel in the sky also reportedly she. shares allegations about a u.s. investment firm called ziff brothers possibly dodging taxes in russia the firm later donated to democrats now the new e-mails could offer evidence backing the russian lawyers claims that she was meeting with trump jr solely to discuss the midnight ski act now in the meeting between the president's son and the russian lawyer became a flashpoint of controversy this summer when john jr released all his e-mails
5:32 pm
showing that he had been told the purpose of this meeting was for the russian government to provide allegedly incriminating information about hillary clinton do we have any idea how these e-mails were obtained. well they were reportedly provided to the paper by scott ball a us lawyer representing our as. the russian billionaire who hosted the trump owned miss universe pageant in moscow in two thousand and thirteen and who had helped secure the trump tower meeting for vessel in the sky and now according to what's been reported bulb or said he was releasing the e-mail from salina sky because he thinks it bolsters his client's claim that the trump tower meeting was not part of a russian government for to assist then candidates trump's campaign so in a nutshell what these e-mails disclose is that the russian lawyer who met with the
5:33 pm
president's son when he was a candidate was meeting with him for her own purposes to overturn a law that she felt was was hurting russia for its regarding adoption and others believe that it proved collusion between the charm campaign and russia so many are saying that this disclosure actually shows that there was no collusion but of course an investigation is ongoing there will be many more pieces to the puzzle disclosed in the months ahead they certainly will be marine important i reporting in miami thank you thank you now what does it take to be a journalist and twenty seventeen well lately it seems when it comes to a few outlets the formula is simple blame russia at least for any cultural electoral or political problems making headlines in the united states see despite widespread claims of election acking engineered by russia during last year's presidential election made by the department of homeland security recently several
5:34 pm
states have stepped forward to say those stories were in fact told this is just one example of claims making their way to the press and to far fall apart during the search for evidence for more i spoke to georgetown professor. chambers and we're not talking about obscure blogs we're talking about you know the post new york times we're talking about the three broadcast networks we're talking about c.n.n. and even fox so you know they did not really do their homework and basically expanded on what the h.s. was telling them and then the aftermath they didn't really retract or clean anything up and raises the question what is the job of the media i mean should. they just be acting as the nagar first for their sins made by agencies like the h s r as ari just import supposed to report news like that as fact they're not supposed to dig and the proof or the putting there is that when d.h.
5:35 pm
says other things that they don't necessarily agree with then they will dig and they will try to look at those sort of the source material the problem whatever primary source material is there are out there corroborating with the h.s. or some other agency is saying but because there is this general atmosphere of kind of anti russian feelings and a lot of them want to tie the administration to russia you know so it makes for interesting. puppet show because it said well is the administration a puppet of russia well maybe it's not but maybe it is but we don't care because that we get more eyeballs by talking about it and you know and they didn't really delve into the background facts or the facts a d.h.s.s. the supposed fact that the h.s. was supposedly operating from the and even interview some of the makers of the the systems the electoral systems that we have and difficult because you know they've got it goes county by county but still it's doable and they didn't do it. and the corrections and retractions in these cases very matter i mean people often don't
5:36 pm
even see them well i mean that's up to you you're doing it now they say just put it out there and they and they just moved on to the like locusts to the next thing you're basically correcting them now well speaking of locus on to the next item and that the next they and the media now it seems like every week there's a new thing last week it was news that russia had purchased ads on facebook to essentially promote black lives matter and this is on a major network c.n.n. reporting russia targeted ferguson and baltimore with these ads if you were a journalist approached with this story from intelligence sources asking to be anonymous what are some of the questions you would be immediately asking well there you know first of all you would blacklist matter is kind of an amorphous group i mean it's a semi-autonomous groups around but you know you actually want to talk to who these people are you know who are the audience here who actually saw these ads pop up who
5:37 pm
put the likes on i mean you can track that kind of stuff and you can just talk to facebook and really get down into what you know like facebook security chief now and saying look we don't know what they're talking about but you can sit down with that person and they will going to provide you with data and then you just do some canvassing in these markets and say hey did you see this what did it look like they did look at the professional ad and you could actually find out who actually put these things together they did not do that either i mean it's homework not being done it's just be accepting stuff face value because you want to stir up the pot and they always describe the root of these as they're being purchased from russian troll farmers which i don't even think has a real name if you're an journalist that can mean anything because even a farm anybody can be. indeed what you know there are troll farms out there but i mean you have to look at you know where is this. really coming from when you say russia is it official government action is it
5:38 pm
a bunch of clowns sitting in some apartment somewhere has not had nothing to do with the government or is it in another country because there are other countries that have been involved with this i mean north korea has been involved with this there are countries that are are not very friendly with russia that have been involved with this that have been doing the kinds of things so i mean you know where do you see this i mean who benefits from from creating friction in an american society and they do not asking these questions you don't so the basic rule is you don't have to be take the fox news rule you don't have to be balanced one hundred percent but you have to be fair and to be fair you have to do your homework and they just not doing their homework here i found it interesting they also admit in these articles they consider black lives matter to be sowing political chaos if that's what they that was the motive they say they cause. and that's that's a slap at black lives matter i mean so you know you got to wonder what who or who's
5:39 pm
making these editorial decisions and who is who is what are these producers saying to the to the to the correspondents what are the higher ups saying to the producers it's crazy all great questions need to be asked chris chambers professor of journalism at georgetown university thanks so much for your time. voting machines are vulnerable that's according to a report released at death con hacking conference in washington d.c. today the report shows hackers were able to hack into all twenty five machines tested the breaches vary by machine and the report says safeguards must be put in place ahead of the next men term and presidential elections of course this is only said the fire of a legit russian interference in the twenty sixteen election but do we need russians to read our system for more let's bring in investigative journalist author greg palast always great to see you greg as i was. at the sky thing earlier with mr
5:40 pm
chambers allegations by the department of homeland security that russia hacked voting machines last year have fallen apart but you've been collecting information on a different way our democracy has been undermined can you explain for viewers what cross-check is but let me just follow up on that one thing i do understand they've been telling us that the machines cannot be hacked for now for two decades don't ever worry about the voting machines we have the most secure voting system in the world don't worry all these people who are conspiracy nuts saying their machines can be hacked but the minute that you have the word russia oh russia can hack it now one question i have for you is who's more likely to be able to hack a machine some kid in moscow or the republican secretaries of state who have all the pass codes who have the access and nobody is watching we're one of the only nations in the planet in which political hacks like the old katherine harris of you know the secretary of state of florida it was infamous and blackwell secular
5:41 pm
state of ohio infamous these are political hacks who are in charge of the voting in each state have complete and and secretive ability to reach into any machine they're going to get help they're going to get help from russia i don't think so and so you know just like you you're ok you hear about a bank robbery well you find out i guess the bank was vulnerable well let's immediately blame every italian what because al capone rob some banks fifty years ago this is what's going on so back in the red scare we're done what we really have to worry about believe me the the g.o.p. does not need lessons from moscow and how to steal an election in fact the head of of donald trump so-called elections integrity commission a guy named kris kobach is in fact trumps both the finn chief he is the guy who created a system as you mentioned. called interstate cross-check with rolling stone magazine

i did an investigation which is in my film the best democracy money can buy you could see it and what you can see in that film as you won't see in mainstream papers in the united states are the lists of people that they removed from the voter rolls or lack. asian american voters hispanic voters these are the people that they removed about one point one million voters of color removed before the last election that's how dollar trump to michigan in those swing states this was not a lecture it is i've read. i've seen the film and you break it down in a very compelling way how this program krawcheck alone could have impacted the outcome of the election by wiping thousands of people off the voter rolls and in the states which you know ended up being very close you believe last year's election was rigged essentially that's the word you use yeah well donald trump always accuses those of doing what he's doing so when he said the elections were
5:43 pm
rigged he knew because his buddies were rigging it here's how specifically it worked i will say that finally after the election the new york times the washington post mentioned this system across check but they're talking about it being put into effect in the future it was in effect in the two thousand and sixteen election here's what it is donald trump said that three million people voted twice which is a crime if you vote whites how they do it the same person votes in two different states for example they have maria hernandez that's a real case in georgia voted in georgia and in the same election they said that she voted in and has voted in virginia now maria hernandez you might immediately say wait that's just a common name well it's not common for a republican they literally took common names of hispanics black people like joe black in jeans and brown and even if the middle names didn't match in the case of maria hernandez they. said the same voter it was obviously the same voter name
5:44 pm
maria hernandez voting to state even though one is registered as maria ynez surname and is and the other is maria cristina hernandez they said that's the same voter two million people were accused by kris kobach donald's. vote the two million people accused of voting twice and not one had a had a common middle name not one of those two million had a common middle name and yet they removed a million from the voter all i want to commend gregg because we're low on time we have about thirty seconds left i just want to ask you. what you describe is outrageous one point one million people being removed from the voter rolls why is there not more attention on this you have you have members of congress and the media up in arms about three thousand so-called russian linked facebook ads but silence when it comes to this well if i said that the russians made up the list instead of a g.o.p. operative i'm sure i could get on every news station in america if i can start if i
5:45 pm
can join in the new red scare here's what i'm concerned with i'm not talking about the elephant in the room the g.o.p. elephant that was in the room a racing one point one million names we put it in rolling stone and we could get pickup nowhere so that's you know that's why i had to make a film but thank you for letting me on the air and busting the mainstream media's omerta on a massive massive jim crow operation that's what's going on here it is a stunning documentary to have so people want more information they can go watch that greg palast investigative journalist and author thank you so much thank you very much. and in baltimore a top prosecutor in two city council members are calling for lawmakers to restrict public access to police body camera footage according to the baltimore sun a resolution before the city council would urge the general assembly to consider a statewide legislation meant to quote carefully regulate when the public can get
5:46 pm
this footage however an attorney for the a.c.l.u. of maryland released a statement calling the resolution quote unnecessary and deeply misguided he continued to say even when investigations are closed police still enjoy a wide degree of latitude while the baltimore county state's attorney says he has concerns she has concerns about the privacy of those being recorded. coming up on our t.v. could your that reveal too much about you will have that story in just a moment here right back. mark twain said it's easier to homeschool people than to mince them they've been fools that could be why america is so divided because people have been fed the fake news paid for by corporate interests they beat you down until you believe their fairy tales well here's a story for you it's called big and it's full of bad fiction.
5:47 pm
what politicians do you should just. put themselves on the line they get accepted or rejected. so when you want to express it and should. somehow want to listen. to the right to be first that's what the. three of the more people are. interested in the why is it. there should. i think the average viewer just after watching a couple of segments understands that we're telling stories that are critics can't tell and you know why because their advertisers won't let them. in order to create
5:48 pm
change you have to be honest you have to tell the truth parties able to do that every story is built on going after the back story to what's really happening out there to the american what's happening when a corporation makes a pharmaceutical victuals people when a company in the environmental business ends up polluting a river that causes cancer and other illnesses they put all the health risk all the dangers out to the american public those are stories that we tell every week and you know what they're working. welcome back to our team america law enforcement and forensic investigators have discovered a trove of data that's helping them solve crimes and it would never have been possible if it were not for that key fobs and even pacemakers house is possible
5:49 pm
let's get some answers from a legal and media analyst lionel of lionel media all right lionel in a recent piece at the chicago tribune some people discuss the way in which police have used data in fit and other types of technology to actually solve crimes is this legal. absolutely and what's interesting to note is not only on you can it solve problems but it might exculpate you when you're charged with murder might get you off the hook now do me a favor anya take your purse and dump it out on the desk here's my purse of sorts i've got a couple of credit cards are if i did chips and there is a door pass that tells me where i am this is an e.z. pass express tells me where i go in the subway but i also have a driver's license that also has an r. if i d. pass in it now i also have a my i phone this thing cost health which tells you how many steps i took so by
5:50 pm
insurance company can see if i'm very active i also have this and i don't know why linked to my scale effects by weight on here then in the car i have an e.z. pass i also am going to have eventual e r if id chips in my license tag in my passport and eventually mark my words write this down write it on the wall kids especially will have a little chip a little piece of rice grain of rice implanted subcutaneously that will be cool and they'll be able to use it to pay for it when you go to a bar check out it will have medical records now everything about power in pill where you are where you have been and through predictive programming where you're growing it will be known under twenty four seven world view
5:51 pm
total world view scan of of what you are doing this is called send survey and lids the more data you have the more equipment you have the more devices you have you were on this and total plan optic on a lie and that is where we are at ounds like you need to take some of your data. often you have a little bit much i think on your. you know if you. at least if you don't you don't want to all in one spot but do you have any privacy concerns when it comes to this or are there not any fourth amendment protections against us for example you know is this not considered illegal search and seizure if someone is looking at your data and test question the first question this to ask is if let's say they are looking for you and they're trying to find out where you've been and they go to your and you've got a fall you've got accelerometers on your phone don't give me that that. you got it
5:52 pm
i don't know what made them either go a little nod to my it's ok well that might. be the goal of the b.m.i. bulletin religion has nothing to do with this but let me tell you this much so if they want to go to this now i want to find out this so here's the if the d.c. police do they need a warrant no they go to apple why do you have an expectation of privacy is this a phone conversation you were at home or received information that you voluntarily rise up and enter into the ether by virtue of you buying these things and by the way on your wall or at it and i'm not going to forget that and i say let me ask you do you ever check your terms and conditions of your apps know all that is are afforded i assume i have no privacy line i think talking to you enough that the faith fair assumption to make or unfortunately out of time i have a line of lionel media thanks a lot thank you and before we go don't forget to tune in for politicking with larry
5:53 pm
king tonight the episode features a panel of guests who care larry discusses the latest spat within g.o.p. ranks here is a snippet. i don't know how anyone could say that corker is a friend of donald trump and allies not corkers i guess the same people would say mitch mcconnell is that ally or paul ryan's ally i mean i'm a i'm a true donald trump ally for the first day and i'm telling you mitch mcconnell paul ryan corker people like him are not allies of donald trump they're the establishment they're the swamp and they're the problem and it's just a gross exaggeration to act as if donald trump is going to get us into world war three it was the inaction of of bill clinton and of george w. bush and of obama who did nothing to deal with this madman in north korea just all the prior administrations did nothing about it and we come to this point trump is trying to negotiate with the guy and the only way to negotiate with
5:54 pm
a madman is to be very strong and let him know for once the united states is not going to give in so i think he's doing a great job robin trump said he doesn't want to negotiate with them. you're right he sure does not and as an army ranger veteran that concerns me we need a tempered approach i disagree with the other panelist mr root that this is ok so donald trump has said that we've done this for twenty five years and it not worked but look it kept us out of war it kept us out of war i understand that right now they keep amy missiles at us they get closer and closer with each try but adding fuel to the fire by trump's crazy tweets calling him the little rocket man all this it's just doing no good it's making us look like a mockery to the rest of the world i'm deeply concerned that's all the time we have for more on the stories we covered that he took up on flash aren't he america also check out our website r.t. dot com port flash america you can always follow me on twitter and on your farm
5:55 pm
tell. me mark twain said it's easier to fool people than to prince them they've been fooled that could be. america is so divided because people have been said see the news good for by corporate interests they beat you. until you believe that it's very. well here's a story. told. and that's. another billionaire business mogul turned reality t.v. star who might run for president i'm talking about mark cuban he recently gave an
5:56 pm
interview to a podcast called viewpoint it when she told the host that he's considering running in two thousand and twenty eight he's not ready to commit but he's considering it in the interview he said if i can come up with solutions i think people can get behind and truly solve problems then it makes perfect sense for me to run if it comes down to do i think i can win because i can convince more people to vote for me then no i won't run in other words he only wants to run if he thinks he has something to offer not just to become president right after he said it the media went wild floating the idea out there to help cuban figure out whether or not it would be worth running and the polling firm called public policy polling already read a poll pitting cuban against president trump and cuban one beating trump out by four point and even specifically gone on record saying he thinks he could do a better job than trump but unlike most politicians who just like to say big things cuban is actually being more thoughtful about it hedging his answers by admitting he would have a lot to learn but he's also saying there's
5:57 pm
a big chance he won't run because his voice against it and it's that kind of honest humility that could actually help him win against our current president and for those americans who are sick of both of our two party. right now cuban has the same outsider thing going for him that helps trump if cuban runs of trouble have a harder time bashing on him for being part of a failed establishment as he did so easily with crooked hillary whether or not he actually decides to run there's no doubt that cuban is that at least trying to learn very quickly about whether or not he's up to the task which is great for him i think because even though three years might sound like a long time in campaign terms it's a blink of an eye and as democrats continue to focus on bitter hate and identity politics cuban is focusing on not what happened but what next which could seriously resonate with america personally i'd like to see him run if only to introduce new ideas into the political arena i just hope he doesn't spend too much time worrying
