a second rocket hit my house was destroyed i'm just an ordinary person on the bus driver i'm not a military commander not an agent of the state why did they do that to me my house didn't hold a single bullet did they fear that i had weapons so i want them to watch this i have nothing this is just a house and i'm the poor person that our dispute is you knew my head in leg were injured our houses were destroyed this is the result of aggression how how is this in the area are affected by the strike. the rig has intensified its bombardment of yemen in a response to a missile fired towards the saudi capital we can go by the fighters saudi arabia was quick to blame it on iran they said tirant directly supports the who these later a senior u.s. air force official claimed the ballistic missile had been made in iraq. in a raid markings on the business. that's been demonstrated and there are pictures that take that to mean that connects the dots to iran in terms of who supply.
6:03 pm
missiles and that capability of some i am going to end there although we do not even have the ability to transfer missiles to yemen if the missiles and they've managed to increase the missiles range. takes a closer look at the current tensions between two of the biggest players in the middle east. recently benny a days seems to go by without saudi arabia making headlines and it almost always boils down to it's enemy iran it is a game of chess that spans an entire region on every front in every country the saudis see iran's evil influence. the huth the rebels in yemen who saudi arabia has been bombing for many years fire
6:04 pm
a rocket riyadh that the saudis could only describe as a rainy and aggression the saudis also ready to throw that allies under the bus to create an excuse to denigrate iran. q the lebanese prime minister holding a successful meeting with the iranians and then going to saudi arabia and out of the blue without warning declaring his resignation while lou inching into a tirade about evil raney an influence plunging the region into chaos and destruction. were never iran his presence it was discordant destruction and interfering through our countries in lebanon syria. yemen what i would like to say would be iran and its followers that they would be losers in that. you lose
6:05 pm
a poor and gain an opening then there's the blockade of cattle. a trade embargo seva ties ultimatums and warnings punishment some say for cata daring to deal with the rain ians and then there's syria the saudi sponsored rebellion is dying that. the hardest allies are losing and asaad is winning and while syria may have unexpectedly checkmated riyadh here the saudis are ramping up attacks on iran on other fronts truly this is an international game of chess with nations and populations at stake ironic given that last year saudi arabia's highest islamic cleric battened chess saying that the game causes and miti and hatred between people and even when played on
6:06 pm
a giant geopolitical scale well it looks like he was right. now the unexpected resignation of the lebanese prime minister has only added to the tensions there's been speculation saudi arabia could be holding saad hariri against his will riyadh has denied these claims hariri unself has just given his first interview since quitting and he said he's free to leave saudi arabia whenever he wants a new home and then look how look i'm free in thirty arabia if i wanted to leave tomorrow i would leave tomorrow all lebanese people need to know that i did resign i know it's not an ordinary way of resigning but any prime minister i know that but i did it because i wanted to send them into shock positive shock so lebanese people would realize that our country is in danger i mean while saudi arabia and its allies kuwait the u.a.e. and bahrain have ordered their citizens to leave lebanon immediately we are
6:07 pm
stylists for their take on the current situation between saudi arabia and iran. riyad is rolling out an entirely new plan no to create chaos in the region where a recount and lebanon another squidgy of the flu isn't easy sure it's a low hanging fruit there is a great momentum right now as i'm speaking this week in saudi arabia to try and create some sort of military strategy against iran to destabilize around or or any of iran's proxies in the region saudi arabia is isolated in the ne india merge and you'll be the least they've lost in syria because of the feel of the dash project they've lost in iraq i was just back from baghdad and the talk in baghdad is about not buckin i was stationed but about iraqi national unity they lost again with their blockade against got there they are losing the war on yemen which is horrifying we then saw thousands of civilian casualties and supported by the u.s.

congress for that matter and use the american weapons and u.k. weapons and now they're trying to change the narrative they're bringing the run they're trying to ratchet up a confrontation involving level which is quite in the crossfire and it still is the same old story the saudi arabia against the run and countries seen the middle east states are going to be caught in the crossfire. on saturday night a massive crowd turned out in barcelona demanding the release of cats alone is jailed former leaders that instruction was held on catalonia national day and attracted almost a million people i. doubt if we are here to have a free country at risk and with a push to mourn your key and all of the catalan government are in our hearts you need to do this i went to all of the demonstrations because i want my grandsons to have a life that we didn't have. that was we here to defend our politics defend those

they. do why no. national treaties. that they promote the south so many nations and did you mean by some rights in that. i live. now or says the sharia laws here america has been given until monday to register as a foreign agent in the united states on the orders of the u.s. justice department i was far to america fails to do so it's bank accounts could be frozen the order was made on the legislation adopted more than seventy years ago before the second world war to counter nazi propaganda but in a caution over looks at the reaction to the move. we are a news channel but at the moment we are in fact the news the mounting pressure on r t as this week coleman eats it and an ultimatum sent to us by the u.s.
6:12 pm
justice department r.t. america has been required to register as a foreign agent in the united states by monday with been left with no other choice but to comply but artie's adventure into the channel is being forced into conditions and wish it simply cannot war. just imagine if you work in the media and have to sign everything you do with foreign agent or produced by a foreign agent how does it feel for any media outlet to disclose its personal data its contract to have to declare any interviews that you do to ministries and institutions this can be called part of the job these conditions are aimed to destroying us as mass media. at the moment russian lawmakers are drafting tit for tat measures targeting american finance media in russia well there is a list of candidates that might be headed by those and among them are c.n.n.

and voice of america radio liberty and its korean toin television channel but the crackdown on r t n the u.s. poses some very uncomfortable questions. those who are doing this in the u.s. have always been proud of being the world's number one democrats and freedom of speech has always been the main value of here to buy them there's no democracy without freedom of speech and it's not going to our media in the us is make no mistake an attack on freedom of speech itself the. pressure has been mounting on r.t. ever since we were accused of somehow making us voters too strong over hillary last year but can one channel really will that much power or is this just in a town to sell i fell alternatively. i will bring you more of this week's headlines in just a moment see you in a few minutes. it's. what

politicians do something to. put themselves on the line. to get accepted or rejected. so when you want to be president i'm sure. for some one of the brits. that's are going to be prosperous like the before last three in the morning can't be good. i'm interested always in the waters of mccall's. first sip.

welcome back to the program u.s. president trump has said better relations with russia would be key to solving world crises like syria and north korea he was speaking a day after the apec summit in vietnam we have to get to work to solve syria to solve north korea to solve ukraine to solve terrorism and i feel that having russia in a friendly as opposed to always fighting with them is an asset to the world and an asset to our country not a liability getting along with other nations is a good thing not a bad thing believe me for meeting between the russian and u.s. presidents had been highly anticipated though it never happened partly due to
6:16 pm
problems nevertheless the two leaders did briefly catch up on the summit sidelines and released a joint statement on the situation in syria and they both confirmed their determination to defeat islamic state the president also agreed there can be no military solution to the syrian conflict they are the final political settlement should be found through the geneva talks formal and also stressed syria is still a sovereign country however putin trumps common views on those issues immediately sparked a backlash. boss john brennan claimed trump was intimidated by the russian president while former intelligence chief james clapper dubbed the friendless naive and even a threat to the united states. i think it's very naive and again perilous to this country to make an assumption that russia is going to behave with. the best interests of the world or the united states in mind or following this meeting with putin trump took to twitter to address his critics see underscore that
6:17 pm
russia's help is necessary and result in many of the world's conflicts when will all the haters and fools out there realize that having a good relationship with russia is a good thing not a bad thing they're always playing politics bad for our country i want to solve north korea syria ukraine terrorism and russia can greatly help. so let's discuss this more with michael patrick flanigan president at flannigan consulting and i'll see and former congressman as well thanks for joining us here and good to have you on the program as the trump said getting on with countries restart mission relations can only be a good thing so why is there such a backlash from the establishment against this approach between today this. really isn't a backlash from the establishment the backlash from these left over democratic hacks who have
6:18 pm
a political need to see trump fail i have been saying on this channel many thoughtful people been saying from the left and the right that these world problems are only going to be solved with international cooperation led by russia and the united states trumpets lete reaching out to do this and for anyone to stand blanket lee and say no this can never happen this should never happen we cannot deal with them they must be at arm's length all the time to be a permanent anomie of the united states is themselves either a roaring idiot or is has some alternate agenda of their very own and anytime i see brennan and clapper sit together and speak i just i recoil at the collective stupidity of the two they have been denounced regularly by both sides of the aisle they have been caught lying to congress and why they are continually invited on as quote unquote experts is beyond me mr trump is taking the correct approach just because you want to work with someone doesn't mean you trust them entirely mr reagan called the trust but verify and that's been the watchword in american
6:19 pm
international politics for decades and decades and i'm sure that's what mr trump will do he's not naive he's not stupid he's not a fool clapper went on to call him all sorts of names i'll tell you these two guys have been caught on the wrong side of the truth so many times i don't know why anyone listens anymore. having said that though he has been as you said even even intimidated. i mean do you think that's because the president's cost the claims of russian meddling perhaps so what's the agenda here behind behind this name calling . that's a fair question and i think the agenda is that brennan particularly is a d.n.c. guy not a professional. intelligence guy he's a d.n.c. guy was put in the job and they he has a desire to see the democratic national committee succeed and if trump succeeds they can't it's a zero sum game for them and so i when these things come up they talk about oh trump is wrong trump is naive trump is bad on these things and they use and they
6:20 pm
burnish their credentials to try and make that point they are finding it recently at least that they have fewer and fewer people standing next to them going yeah they're right those these two are pretty much alone now saying these sorts of things because we cannot go on with permanent enemies around the globe as these two apparently want us to have and having a permanent enemy of the russians is insane and i don't think trump is interested in doing that guy's a deal maker he wants to wants us to proceed successfully in the world wants the world to proceed successfully and look at his goals it's not territorial ambition it's not making money for the clinton foundation it's solving the crises in syria in ukraine in north korea and elsewhere and doing it with not only with russian cooperation but probably in in one or two of those places with russian leadership and this is a good thing. that's michael patrick troughton president at finding and consulting and i'll see you in full my congressman thanks for your take on that today on all of the international. now colossal bribery and fraud

has been brewing a scandal the u.s. navy that's according to prosecutors in the so-called lead case would not reveal the true extent of the scandal. initial inquiry took place more than four years ago when twenty eight personnel including two admirals were indicted now it's transpired four hundred forty navy staff are under investigation including more than sixty admirals and scores of offices all of them are suspected of sharing secret information in return for bribes such as alcohol of prostitutes the identities of the majority of people implicated are being held back to avoid jeopardizing the investigation the release of such information would likely reveal sensitive details about the breadth and scope of the criminal investigation and pending cases now these revelations are being described as the worst corruption scandal in the u.s. navy history yet some are surprised that handing over classified information to

a foreigner is being treated as frauds kaleb more into the story. what did they do well allegedly they were seduced by leonard francis a.k.a. fat leonard he offered them booze parties luxury hotels and cash in exchange for information about where u.s. navy ships were going in the pacific ocean he did this in order to earn contracts now fat leonard aka leonard francis is the san diego jail so giving away military information launched an inquiry into corruption now these navy officers admitted to giving away ship schedules and they pleaded guilty to bribery but leaking and giving up classified government information under u.s. law isn't called bribery it's called espionage why is the espionage act not being applied to corrupt navy officers christian saucer took some photos with his cell phone in a classified area of a u.s. nuclear submarine nobody paid him anything and he didn't leak them to anyone he
6:23 pm
simply lost his cell phone well he ended up getting sentenced to a year in prison now his mother thinks her son got a raw deal in two thousand and nine there was no cell phone ban on submarines at that time technology was new and didn't catch up maybe hadn't caught up yet and i really have no doubt in my mind that it was a twenty two year old guy that wanted to make it out of where he worked yeah we were already took pictures and so forth were allowed now when it comes to whistleblowers who reveal u.s. forces killing civilians or the n.s.a.'s massive surveillance it doesn't take long for them to be charged with espionage.
6:24 pm
months later i started working at the agency were you aware of the time or did you . saw it looks like photographers without malintent and whistleblowers get hit with stiff penalties but if you're a good old boy in the u.s. navy brass and you trade military secrets for sex and cash well it looks like the stiff penalties just don't apply kill them up and aren't seeing new york but also for the south we can get more unable stories on t. dot com or on our social media we're back with more global headlines in just under

half an hour to that. one hundred years ago russia was consumed by revolution and unprecedented violence is not an understatement to say the russian revolution or falsity could a tart was a defining moment of the twentieth century how did it change russian.

a long welcome to all the parts three years after the eruption of violence in ukraine the conflict still remains a battle of identity for kiev but not so much from moscow or brussels increasingly preoccupied by their own internal challenges both russia and the european union that would much rather leave ukraine to its own devices can it survive in such a geopolitical limbo no longer with the east not with the west but to discuss that i'm now joined by our former vice chancellor of austria dr bruce ivins great to
6:28 pm
talk to you thank you very much for. time now i know that you are often asked about the issue of european identity european values what it means to be european and that very interesting philosophical question was right at the center of the still is at the center of the ukrainian call flick three years ago one of the proudest started gathering at my town square in kiev it was formulated roughly like that here is a dark and oppressive russia or here is a bright and shiny european union and in a sense free loving your crane in the middle now that ukraine has been freed from the deadly embrace of russia what's next what's next for ukraine what's next for europe what's next for russia i think is the perception of they will come for example a lot of mistakes think sometimes. it is not the us that is that with the russians that some things like crimea and some of the critical is seen by international law
6:29 pm
but i think that a lot of mistakes on the western side there's a difference asians or western side think the americans have as a bit the perception that's not mine and i think it's the holds them up to the perception of the whole europeans i think there's a tendency to to look at the things like the break but where does it come from because it all we thought at least that we were all adults sure russia has its challenges fit the rule of law with building of its institutions with the authoritarian tendencies in its government but i think it was really striving throughout the ninety's to do something of itself all of a sudden in two thousand and thirteen we heard that we were there is back or the process of people who don't give a hack about anything good in this world why did it come from but this is a result of a kind of simplification of riches down of the western side. i think you think it was jan you know was it deliberate. i think it was not the leave it it was it
6:30 pm
changed never really i think the press section in the rest of the western european concerning some changes in russia then it's going to relate to the subjects i think it was for a very long time russia over time i mean. very primitive in faultlessly differentiation was not really seen i think maybe the best option of the changes even the big o. a bunch of that it didn't go in there i think action and afterwards i think. for a lot of people it was not clear that there was a tremendous change in the russia happening for sure you needed time to conceal me it's not happening from one day to the other and i think everybody has to learn out of the own history now and if he's coming back to to create you know confrontation then the.
