the area where the reports were during the sub rose are being evacuated in the area but would you really be your harbor absolutely just a human human beings without being cleared of a rocky road without as we try to get to the bottom of the report really indicate our one person alien hospital let them rather. read in relation to in our we know hearing or the person perhaps we're giving the way of prayer that where we should efforts are little things which are not clear as we're hearing reports of the port authority building being cleared by the reputable department. we'll leave it there i mean we have heard the r.t. has contacted the police for comment but they've neither confirmed nor denied that lawson did not admit the anybody was in custody so we are awaiting details on that they also carry find that it was yet unfair whether this incident is being treated as a terror attack or not but we do have reports coming through that the bomb squad has been has been sent to the area we'll have more details on this later and probably

hear from caleb again today thank you very much indeed. for me one it's been a very busy day for vladimir putin whose plane has touched down in cairo where the russian president was met by his egyptian counterpart and ever trying to explain the importance of the visit. president c.c. who is welcoming mr putin at the airport and also here at the presidential palace has many issues to sort out with the russian leader including joint nuclear power plant project and reopening direct flights but bear in mind jerusalem the arab league met here and the capital of egypt to and donald trump's decision infuriated the arab world they cannot oppose people's feelings and beliefs this is a new type of adventurism and global arrogance of the us. the kingdom of jordan refuses the recognition by the united states so jerusalem is the capital of israel not in the decision by the united states in its context gives legitimacy and

recognition for occupation and the allowance of a de facto status using force and now it is fair to say that not only the arab world but a broader community says they're ready to stand up for the palestinians the turkish president tibe aired on so far has proved to be the most outspoken one and here's what that led to believe. israel is a terrorist state i'm not used to receiving. lectures. about morality from a lead to bombs kurdish villagers in his native to. who dreams dreams. hopes you're on the. international sanctions and to those journalists but back to president putin's trip he's got a scheduled meeting with top very dawn so we'll definitely be watching out for the

israeli palestinian. situation. let's return to our breaking news story and recap on the details that we know so far a new york police department is responding to a blast at the central bus station in manhattan and we can see the live pictures now they say that the cause of the explosion is currently unclear and there's also no information yet regarding any casualties or injuries that we know that that emergency services have been sent to the area there are also reports of a stampede following the blast and n.y.p.d. and just getting in some information that there is one injury reported so far the explosion is said to have happened at manhattan's port or sorry bus terminal situated between forty second unaids police on their twitter feed are warning people to stay away from the area and it has been evacuated eyewitnesses say there are a lot of police at the scene as well as the emergency services also reports that some
8:35 am
of the subway lines are being evacuated or r.t. has contacted the police for comment and they have neither confirmed nor denied the blast and refused to be drawn on whether anybody is in custody so far they also clarified it is yet unclear whether this incident is being treated as a terror attack or not and we have a quote here coming from the f.d.a. and why the new york city fire department that confirms that one non-life threatening injury is at the scene the explosions at forty second street and eighth avenue port authority confirming the details i've just given you of one injury reported so far. well to remind you the cause of this explosion is still unclear and police haven't decided yet whether to treat it as a terror attack however all eyes are now on what's happening in new york and just a month ago the city's deadliest attack since nine eleven took place.
8:36 am
just to say probably been planning this for a number of weeks you did this in the name of isis. well before we move on let's just quickly recap on some of those details that we know that is happening in new york so far and my p.d. are responding to a blast at the central bus station in manhattan they say the cause of the explosion is currently unclear and there's no information yet regarding any casualties or injuries there is an update on that in that report of one person has been injured there are also reports of a stampede following the blast the explosion is said to have happened at manhattan's port authority bus terminal situation between forty second and eighth police on their twitter feed a warning people to stay away from the area that has been evacuated i witnesses say there are a lot of police at the scene and also reports that some of the subway lines are
8:37 am
being evacuated. now israeli prime minister binyamin netanyahu is continuing his first trip to europe after america's recognition of jerusalem as israel's capital he's now in brussels in belgium media has reported that he was met by a protest against trump's move and earlier during the first leg of his trip a pro palestinian rally also took place in paris just before the israeli prime minister's arrival. well as any i has are already met the french president and the e.u.'s foreign policy chief and so far top european politicians have been making it clear that they don't welcome trump's decision. to prime minister netanyahu my disappointment of the u.s. president's declaration and explain that front sees it is contrary to international law and is dangerous to peace so i think the sooner the problem students come to grips with this reality the sooner we will move towards peace the only realistic

solution to the conflicts between israel and palestine is based on two states which are those eleven as the capital of both the state of israel and the state of palestine along the sixty seven line i believe or. most of the european countries will move their embassies to jerusalem recognize crucial in this is rules work up little. well britain's prime minister condemned trumps decision as unhelpful adding that she disagrees with the move while germany's foreign minister expressed fears it would worsen the israeli palestinian conflict when we put the divisive issue up for debate. people can open the bible and to count how many times jerusalem is invention there they will find out also that jerusalem is not mentioned even one time in the koran not even one time people will find out that jerusalem is the capital of israel since nine hundred forty eight the whole world is condemning this action because simply it's against the international law it's and against the

framework for the peace process is has forfeited the united states who fitted its position as a broker to the peace process and i tell you something the israelis have killed who are palestinians in the past two days in peaceful protests while no israeli was killed there was an injury in an attack and was jerusalem everything is a lie first everything my appalling says is a lie there were three terrorists killed in gaza strip which has nothing to do with the protests here because gaza strip they fired rockets and they forget about it they just forget that they fire rockets at israeli kindergarten when people who fought off followers of hijab in that whole say name hitler skull operator of the ring cycle of world war those who created fatah before nine hundred sixty seven to destroy israel when this resists the said personalities common to teach us morality

listen it cannot be defended themselves why they are illegally on somebody else's land that is unacceptable what they done what they do and what i have been doing since one thousand nine hundred seven is an aggression and with your other guests this radical has never been to your land never been your land in the history of those land they were born in russia donald trump. kept his promises and his driving to doing his best of we are grateful but the issues love double trouble the issue as these people go in there. europeans russians americans and we're here in little east the only democracy of the only all new really alive it is very dark environment. now let's have a recap on our breaking news story new york police department are responding to
8:41 am
a blast at the central bus station in manhattan there and we can see the live pictures here police say the cause of the explosion is as yet unclear and my p.d. also say that one person has non life threatening injuries and also one male suspect is in custody there also reports of a stampede following the blast where the explosion said to have happened at manhattan's port authority bus terminal situated between forty second police on the twitter feed a warning people to stay away from the area and it's been evacuated eyewitnesses say there are a lot of police at the scene and we've been able to see on the emergency pictures on the on the live pictures of the emergency vehicles at the scene there also reports that some of the subway lines are being evacuated well r.t. has contacted the police for comment and they've neither confirmed nor denied the blasts they also clarified it's not yet clear whether this incident is being treated as a terror attack or not artie's kellett more can has the latest. i'm so at this
8:42 am
point we're hearing reports are that the explosion took place in the port authority building that's where the boxes that are coming into manhattan generally deposit people these are buses coming in from new jersey these are greyhound buses from around the country and that's where the explosion took place and as of now we're not getting any reports of any injuries are however we're hearing that that in response to the explosion there was a stampede people were evacuated and the n.y.p.d. according to some sources the n.y.p.d. has one person in custody at this time now we also understand that there are trains the deposit in the area near the port authority dozens also a subway stop the a train the c. train and the train here in manhattan and all of those train lines are now being evacuated in the subway station below the port authority building is being evacuated in response to this blast so we still are still on clear that made this
8:43 am
blast what caused the explosion but at the n.y.p.d. is on the scene from we understand swat teams are on the scene immediately clearing the area clearing the port authority building trying to get to the conclusion of what's happening so a lot of questions are in the works but as of now we're not seeing reports of injuries which seems to be a good sign bad but you know as as news travels fast and really we get to the bottom of what happened it's not clear as of yet and that's quite a big building it's important to point out that you know there are the trains that deposit that there are many different buses coming in and this is a very very busy time for that building at this point you know it's just it's just it's just almost eight thirty here in new york city and you can bet that people are just piling into downtown and their daily commute you know on a given day at this time you can bet. that segment cars that are going on in on
8:44 am
their way into manhattan are just packed full of people you know standing standing room only people you know people just possibly in there with barely enough space so if there were to be an explosion in in this area that potential for injury is quite massive as the area tends to be quite packed with commuters on mornings like this now the port authority building that's where the boxes that are coming into the city tend to deposit that's also you know at the site of the train station this is just a block away from times square and this is forty second street this is midtown manhattan as is quite a busy area and that is a very large security and police presence in that area at all times we've seen that there have been previous incidences there you know most recently there was that there was the incident where there was the individual who was driving through times square and trying to injure people with his car there were fatalities and that is
8:45 am
very heavily monitored and police huge amount of surveillance a huge police presence and as we understand now the leader of sort of police departments on the scene clearing the area trying to clear any any any people from the area just trying to evacuate the scene for safety purposes as we now are in an incident like this you never know if this is our or not you know so far we know there could be more explosions in the works so you can be sure that they're trying to evacuate the scene to get everyone out of the problem before they are determined so they're able to determine what happening that the building the safety of the thing is safe and if things can return to normal you know questions are still being raised as to what this explosion was whether to take place this kind of big building let's with this explosion on was this explosion in the subway or was it was it in the area where the prices were coming in was it on the on the street level of the building was it higher up on the on the higher math. where you know
8:46 am
some of the that would brussels or new jersey deposit are a lot of questions are being. very clear but as we know again like he was on the scene and people are being or rapidly cleared from the area that the reports we're hearing the sub rose are being evacuated in the area but would you really be just a harbor absolutely just a human human being who is now being cleared and evacuated out as we try to get to the bottom of what's happening now the reports he indicates are that one person even possibly let them out of bed it's not clear threat in relation to you know we know generally the person perhaps we're getting in the way of part of that where we should the efforts are lot of things are just not clear as. well just to remind you the cause of the explosion is still unclear and police haven't decided whether or not to treat it as a terror attack as however all eyes are now on what's happening in new york was just a month ago the city's deadliest attack since nine eleven took place. i
8:47 am
. just had been planning this for a number of we did this in the name of isis. joining me live now to discuss the ongoing situation in new york is jim john triss former u.s. diplomat well hi there jim i mean what do you think could have caused this i mean what given what we know so far. well of course so much is speculative at this point we don't even know for a fact that it was a bomb but that's certainly the first thing that goes through every body's mind remember we did have a bomb some months ago that injured a number of people this does not seem to have been a massive blast there's no reported casualties except possibly one in the injured
8:48 am
person from the blast itself or maybe that was caused by the panic or a stampede that was reported afterwards so there's still a lot of question marks here if it was a bomb who was behind it did it go off prematurely reportedly the one person in custody has had a second bomb on his person this is somebody reported to be in his twenty's who may or may not have anything to do with it so obviously there are a lot of unknowns at this point. looking at the timing of all this as we were chatting about earlier it's been an hour now rhonda now since the initial reports i mean why do you think that the police giving away too many details at this point well i think it's prudent for the police not to do that now sometimes you do have the problem as we've seen primarily in europe and some extent here in the united states when there is a terrorist attack it is specifically a jihad attack they want to downplay that they want to explain it away as something else if that is the case and they know that they're holding it back that's not good but i think at this point they're probably just being prudent that they don't have
8:49 am
all the facts so we don't really know much about it why they one of the interesting things we'll find out is if they do have this person in custody and this person was connected to what happened is this somebody that was known to the authorities who's been under surveillance and so forth and somehow they weren't able to stop them here that has been the case with so many previous terrorist attacks where we find out afterward yes and this person was known to the authorities well and what good did that knowledge do. what we saw in a second you'll no longer mean could it be that it's being targeted ahead of the festive season say. it very well could be enough course we've seen again primarily in europe with the stepped up security around christmas markets and things of the sort that they they have more in europe than they do in the united states what's interesting here is when you compare this to the terrorist attack from the fellow from uzbekistan a few weeks ago who came under the diversity lottery he was using the you if you will to the new method which is to take the weapon at hand which is
8:50 am
a vehicle and run people down which unfortunately is quite effective and something you can't really guard much against because you're not designing a bomb you're not getting getting component parts for a bomb it takes no expertise if this was a terrorist attack of this was a bomb this is the way and in a sense going back to the older script which is to to have a little more coordination and detail knowledge about how to do something like this what i mean we all speculating at this point but it's also i look at the timing here in sort of the wind a foreign policy aspect and the fact that isis has been effectively declared to defeated there are now many pockets of resistance so it looking across the middle east into iraq and syria do you think that this is just a pure coincidence that the timing. well i don't think that i think the timing of first off on the time of day is not a coincidence if it was a terrorist attack doing something like this during morning rush hour where it was designed to have a number of casualties which evidently did not happen there are some reports that
8:51 am
maybe the explosion went off prematurely or only partially so it did not have the impact that perhaps was desired it could have something to do with christmas that could have something to do with the fact that isis is on its last legs territorially of let's remember even when isis was riding high in control big areas of syria in iraq we still had people who were describing themselves as isis soldiers where that isis claimed responsibility for afterward so it could be connected to that but as you say kate there's a lot of speculation going on and also i mean is this a case of this is something that then is to be expected in a way of is it a case of now that i mean as i said lots of speculation here but it's more a case of isn't this just a question of fairly looking at incidents that happened for instance in in central london not so long ago in oxford street where there was a fair there had been some sort of all to cation on the metro system there and people running fit with what we ports here in new york a stampede is a case of this is almost like an expectation that something could happen and this
8:52 am
is why we've got this ramped up favor as much as anything else it could happen it might happen therefore everybody's a west on high alert. exactly right and of course the phrase you keep hearing is the new normal that were basically being told by our authorities here in america and also in western europe to expect this that this is the kind of thing that we'll be living with for some time. again if it were turns out that this person in custody is responsible and be interesting to find out who he is he another fellow from someplace else in the world who maybe shouldn't be here in the first place you'll hear people in hungary for example where they're not living in a large number of migrants saying well it ain't the new normal here we don't have this problem now i guess again we'll have to find out who is that is what was written responsible for all that ok to turn out it was something else entirely was it was it was a gas leak or something i don't think that's likely but at this point we are just
8:53 am
speculating and on that note jim just looking so reports coming to the speculation here that it could have been a pipe bomb what do you think about that. well i think the interesting thing about the pipe bomb is remember the incident addicting place a few months ago i'm trying to remember exactly what it was that injured about a dozen people that was reportedly a pipe bomb not anybody least i am capable of making up by bomb just off the top my head you have to get instructions for you have to get the materials for it you have to actually know something that indicates some degree of coordination is not just somebody who pops up one day with a case of sudden jihad syndrome and decides to go do his bit so that that would be a little more indic indicative of some kind of coronation organization behind and also say just looking finally just looking at the location we've got some of the like we had some of the live pictures coming through there as well is it a case of as you said going back to ephesus a total speculation at this point but is it a case of going back then to sort of what's always known as vulnerable hubs this is
8:54 am
getting back to to travel this is going back to a central area as well all we can just see more vigilance from the authorities coming up to the festive season in areas where there are a big think well where you are and that's maybe one of the most dismaying things about this is that even if a lot of people were not killed what is the degree of uncertainty and fear that instills in the population that something that should have been one of the most hardened hardened targets most under most surveillance under most protection still could be hit because after all there's nothing new about targeting something that is a major transportation hub you think if any place should be regarded as somewhat safe and under under under surveillance and with various protective measures i don't know that there's much more they could do it a place like the port authority other to shut the thing down which they can do. so where as a site we're now waiting to see what exactly what what happens now with it looking for all the details to come straight what you think from now on is going to be the response from the authorities. it you know in new york it's hard to say kate
8:55 am
because i think there's another thing that i think concerns a lot of people is that we don't always get the straight dope from the authorities especially if it was a terrorist attack it was a jihad attack if there was some connection to some some foreign source they often don't want to be honest about that oh you know we've heard for example about fort hood being true to do workplace violence kind of thing so i hope we will get the straight dope which remember we would even figure out what happened last radius with that massacre there so. i hope we get the straight story but i think a lot of people become concerned they are the authorities being entirely open and honest with us plenty of questions start to be on said jack transform u.s. diplomat thank you very much for your thoughts thank you thank you well let's just recap on some of the details that we do know so far from the incidents that are happening in new york n.y. p.d.
8:56 am
are responding to a blast at the central bus station in manhattan and we can see the life pictures now police say the cause of the explosion has been reported is currently on clear when my p.d. do say that one person has normal life threatening injuries and they also say that one the male suspect is in custody and the explosion is said to have happened at manhattan's port authority bus terminal situated between forty second and days police on that's what to feed our warning people to stay from the away from the area which had been evacuated i witness to say there were a lot of police saying there are also reports that some of the subway lines of foresight being evacuated lossie comes out to the police the comments that they can find it's yet unclear whether this incident is being treated as a terror attack or not and we will be contacting our correspondent caleb maupin at the top of the hour for more details. we'll be back with more news to see.
