nine o'clock thursday morning here at moscow you're watching international news team here putting together your latest world news headlines. a possible develop. a step towards ending his five year confinement and it's long and the skated tricky and internationally spanning case of julian assange outside the ecuadorian embassy seems to be stemming from first of all it tweets that julian assange had posted on his twitter page wearing a t. shirts with the ecuadorian national colors parking lots of debate and questions online about whether or not this could potentially mean that he has either has been or is on his way to being granted citizenship those questions of course are yet to be specifically answered by either julian assange himself the founder of wiki leaks or ecuadorian officials what we do know so far is that a son seems to have been issued some sort of national ecuadorian identification number which is easily seen on the ecuadorian. websites where this particular
1:02 am
number coincides with his full name now the questions there are whether or not this is an idea that could potentially be used for him to apply for it with dorian citizenship or somehow changed his status when it comes to this very complicated case that has now spans over several years what we do know as this comes following earlier statements from the ecuadorian foreign minister saying that it's really time to move on with his case let's take a listen. a person can't live in those conditions or rather look that way considering the option of mediation that we know police who don't have said. virus that country or individuals. no solution is possible is without international corporation answerable without that if you case that which has expressed interest in finding one well there are lots of questions now about who this potential mediator could be because obviously when it comes to the complications of julian assange being able to actually step out of this embassy behind us revolves largely
1:03 am
on what his status is in the u.k. but so certainly a lots of questions we're going to obviously be watching this very closely in terms of what is this going to mean for a songes status not just within ecuador but potentially his case beginning to move forward a little bit more on top of that in the u.k. foreign office has reportedly denied a request from ecuador to grant a diplomatic immunity. the foreign office to comment on the situation but so far no comment. and i started checking i was picking up the story just a few moments ago now if it does step out from the embassy it potentially faces arrest for breaching bail in the u.k. as well as possible extradition to the u.s. we discuss the situation surrounding us with our guests. i think that this is really a continuation of a very dangerous and wrong it was of the worst julian is one of the biggest international whistleblowers and i think that they really want is in the u.k.
1:04 am
authorities are not wanted to discuss this they have just made clear that they regard somebody who can be branded and even now when the swedish extradition request has been withdrawn that's why it's so wise so they could organise or it is to try to sort it out. to make sure that the u.k. authorities do what clearly is that you did under international law to let. a song free. another twist in the stateside russia saga with the release of an interview with one of the people behind a dossier on alleged collusion between team and moscow the us president has tweeted that this testimony was made public in quote an underhanded and illegal way the interview transcript reveals that the dossiers also decided to cut ties with the f.b.i. because he believed the bureau was being manipulated by. the dossier itself wasn't
1:05 am
the only topic of the interview the name of russian attorney in a tally of us on this guy came up almost as many times as the dossier and she was accused of being involved in trump of russia collusion after she met with donald trump jr and twenty sixteen. to discuss the latest information. night you. know the person behind this testimony glenn simpson for quite a while now tell us more about how your relationship came about because of the potential. for the first time in twenty fifteen during my first visit to the united states before that we exchanged e-mails that got introduced by lawyers who were hired to new york to represent a client with a russian businessman in the case initiated by the tourist mr brough the interest of businessmen during our cooperation excellent information gathering and analytical skills it is including the ability to distinguish from cost so i was
1:06 am
very excited about that we didn't exist in many to deliver back in august this home documents of almost three hundred pages of two different topics the first the so-called trunk also here but of the second is about his relations with me when last year i found out about the connection of glenn simpson to the charm dossier i could hardly believe it weaves to and the quality of the infamous trying to see aides have if you're going to allow something like that to come out under his name . is an anonymous report if people have been working on it i did not admit that publicly we would have never known the waters or the reports what raises questions in the sources of this also i'm not named why did worse by unnamed unverified sources from a basis for an investigation conducted a basis for different government bodies of the united states not only does this investigation distract politicians from real issues but it also wasting taxpayers' money through this music was his goal of going back to simpson some media outlets
1:07 am
have to doubt his account of events contradicts us regarding whether or not you two met in july two thousand and sixteen did that meeting take place after news maybe on of his ago despite all the headlines i see no contradictions. testament in my recent testimony to the senate they stated that they didn't mean grandson that only nine soju look at his testament he says i'm not sure maybe but this statement is not treated this completely from a long line so in june two thousand and sixteen the u.s. court of appeals for the second circuit held a hearing on mr brown this case he demanded almost was dropped from the keys after the call for him to be questioned later that day i had a meeting i was trying to ask him to look into this case and to encourage congress to investigate mr brown this actions aimed at manipulating public institutions in the united states because he was alone simpson who worked in our team for my

russian clients who also happened to be connected with. the congressman investigating the case with his deed because they hope to prove a had the meeting was planned simpson that day and this caused the meeting was. assuming that my main goal was to blackmail don't have drunk when you tell your vessel that sky has just mentioned bill browder who is also mentioned by simpson he was an investor in a rusher and later accused of masterminding a large scale tax evasion scheme and its guy had defended a russian company accused of money laundering a case in which brought her gave testimony and she pressed proud to come clean about his activities in russia. because going to. remember to keep points disclosed in the memo besides the russian trump collusion of course bill browder in it simpson slams the former businessman on several occasions accusing him of being obsessed with russia while being actively implicit in tax avoidance schemes and even money laundering can you give us your judgment on the situation. but all that
1:09 am
but much of the browser is obsessed was russia he said to russia not only by his desire for change but also mentally can russia he got one it's a russian woman who has half russian children ties to russia and the list truong is mine after all his crimes that he should be grateful to russia for love throwing him behind bars while it was still possible condition as to board of congress withstanding the gravity of the allegations mr brown has testified before the us congress during the summer of twenty seven mainly talking about the alleged complicated collusion of. mr rather you have given us the first an insight into putin's russia you may have done more to fight corruption worldwide than any other individual and i appreciate what you have done thank you for uncovering the facts and i'm sure how i can tell it's difficult to talk about the life and tragic death of your friend and someone who is your colleague i want to join my colleagues and
1:10 am
thanking you for being here today and admiring your courage and tenacity. perceptional mr browder will change for the publication of simpson's testimony. i don't want to sound naive but i really hold this history will end with a victory for common sense to me here because i knew that i knew how come all this time people like simpson and browder got congress flu time while the person accused of being involved in the alleged collusion scheme never got any on this forum because. i submitted a written testimony to congress where. once that one hundred seventy four questions have to start on the test so many members of congress most opposed to make a decision on whether to subpoena me to testify in person so far and also subpoena has been the issue i don't know the reason but if i want to speculate i would assume that the answer is some agave would not see user enters the. iraqi security

forces are forcing refugees to leave camps and return to their homes despite those being in unsafe areas that's according to a new report by the un refugee agency it says that more than thirteen thousand families were forced to come back to dangerous zones those who returned faced a number of problems from tribal conflicts to booby traps left by fleeing islamic state fighters the report also says at least fourteen return ears have been killed and we spoke to people in one refugee camp about their fears of returning home. we moved to this camp three years ago we don't want to return to our home yet we are afraid of tribes our houses are destroyed we have no place to live the fields with it houses the looted even the wires are torn out of the walls and there's lots of booby traps and five days ago our neighbors there started a fire to warm some water something went off and now their kids are in hospital he is so scary that. there are very few people from our village returned home there's

nothing left there no electricity no water supply doesn't work we may return in the future but only when the area will be suitable for living. two point six million internally displaced people at this point recently interviewed internally displaced this is not counting iraqis outside the country and many of them being forcibly returned to places they don't want to go to that they don't think are safe if your home is rubble and there are corpses lying in the streets and there are explosives and mines and improvised explosive devices littering your former home no you shouldn't be compelled to return that's not humanitarian aid that's further humanitarian abuse the allegation seems widespread in iraq that the prime minister is seeking to get sunni's back to their

homes to allow an election to proceed this spring as so p.r. is taking precedence over substantive aid to human beings both within iraq and with. the iraqi prime minister has denied that refugees are being forced to return to unsafe areas he says it's misinformation spread by his political right. by the british army is trying to keep keep up with the times by recognizing that its soldiers have emotional needs here's a look at how the new approach compose with the hope. there were nothing that only organized rather asdic faces now then and it will not likely but the more you hate me the more you will learn. told that. this was someone that. you can just make.

the british army is part of a campaign to attract a more diverse range of recruits you can see the new compared with much older ones a former u.k. intelligence officer philip ingram says he doesn't hold out much hope that the more inclusive approach will boost recruiting numbers. i was quite surprised to see these videos that are coming out i do understand that there's been market research done suggesting that they should target more minority groups but if they can't recruit enough people from the majority groups that the british military have traditionally recruited from i don't see what the senses and targeting of these minority groups but i think the whole program the advertising campaign is flawed because they're spending an awful lot of money on this year the british army spent on till september last year ten million pounds on this recruiting campins but one. piece of press from the not looking after one of the veterans or one of
1:15 am
the current serving soldiers is enough to undo that ten million pound company and the best people to recruit are the soldiers themselves and if they can come up with positive stories to say what it is that they've achieved their academic achievements their training achievements the adventurists activities that they get involved in the team spirit that they build up and then they can take that and reflect whenever they come back into society again as veterans and veterans come out with a good experience of not just how they've been looked after when ever they served but how that set them up to go into civilian life still to come here on the program on r t international senators in the united states have named vladimir putin the number one threat to democracy in europe and america more on that after the break.

join me every thursday on the alex salmond show and i'll be speaking to guests of the world of politics or business i'm show business i'll see you then. this is an amazing story because there were say real geo political impact them but going on a g. twenty country g seven countries japan actually the spending power the culture the rise of big going in the millions of people over buying it in japan the multi billion dollars that they have appreciated in value is causing a genuine effect in their economy and this is going to be the year twenty eighteen point the currencies have this geo political influence. unfortunately it appears that once people learn that you've reported in a sexual assault or may have been involved in an incident that they become scared of you instead of being scared of the perpetrator.

it is good to have you with us today the u.s. state of north carolina has been ordered to redraw its congressional map of the republicans that admitted to gerrymandering takes a closer look here's an old political hack courtesy of us politicians redraw the voting districts in order to favor your party that's what the republican party did in north carolina in two thousand and sixteen but they went too far the federal courts have stepped in and said that they rial aid in the us constitution we. are going to use political data to draw in this manner it is to.
1:18 am
gerrymandering from this country to numerous fundamental democratic principles and individual rights. let's take a look at how the twelve congressional district in north carolina was drawn now that's clearly not exactly a random sampling of the population but that's. not the only place that happens all across the country this is an old trick in u.s. politics and even has a name gerrymandering the process of redrawing district lines to give an advantage to one. a matter that we have a state of fifty people twenty of them are democrats thirty republicans blues living on one side the state and reds on the other now the state needs to be divided into districts with each sending one representative to the house first option to divide them into five separate districts horizontally with three republican representatives and two democrats but if the republican party in the state is more powerful it can be divided in the reds favor with each district getting six republicans and four democrats which means that all the representatives
1:19 am
will be republican and vice versa say the democratic party controls the state then its territory can be divided into districts in quite a chaotic way in order to give more house representation for democrats so even though the state has a republican majority democrats win three seats and republicans only two it's constitutionally infirm you know parties are not supposed to redistrict in order to give any party political advantage again we know that happens the courts are tired of these areas man during they're tired of racial gerrymandering which everyone knows is happening and they want to stop and i think therefore that a lot of this redistricting in any case even aside from what happened here is going to be looked at more closely by the court but usually it's done in more subtle ways here they did in very blatant way there was evidence that they did it for political

reasons and so. i think it was easy for the court to reach the decision they did the founding fathers of the united states extolled the virtues of representative government but it looks like a loophole in the constitution they created as unable to situation to come into existence in which instead of people choosing their politicians politicians get to choose their voters. r.t. the senate democrats it took more than a year for its all those to compile the two hundred page document the report collects the most frequently voiced allegations against russia everything from political assassinations to a state sponsored doping and cyber attacks it also contains a wide range of proposals aimed at protecting american democracy from alleged russian battling for example it proposes the creation of a special unit to deal with any interference from moscow and suggests spending millions of dollars to help europe and eurasia protect themselves we discuss the report with political analyst charles alltel. it's really shameful it's fake
1:21 am
accounting of history it's not objective it doesn't really have a proper context and i think serious objective people when they look at this and they try to weigh up the various ways in which we could spend money this won't be won i don't think that that committee reflects. the will of the american people or even indeed the will of congress i think the democrats tend to vote as a bloc and this this report which must have been in preparation for many months is yet another tool really used to continue to sell the anti russian and their revenue and to sell the russian collusion delusion when a new senate is seated perhaps with a stronger republican trop led majority you are going to see very different reports coming out of the committee. a video has gone viral of a young man in paris resisting arrest and then bursting into flames his body caught on fire officers used a stun gun and tear gas at the same time and warning you may find the upcoming images this.

tactics those evil russian spies might use he writes a truly aggressive intelligence that would not just monitor what's being said on the network it would target the on air talent as well as the folks behind the scenes who make the network's programming possible this might range from opening friendly contacts with these employees to outright recruitment. now i tell you hawk watchers this this this is this is truly truly disturbing news i mean i thought i thought it was my job and our t.v.'s job to spread the evil russian influence across the lands now deep state intelligence community influences or influencers are telling me that fox news may be the come.
