5:00 pm
or is it sending a very strong signal and what is russia's role in this because there is some kind of debate here. and one of them is that damascus has had enough considering what mark you said there that they are going to start reacting here or is it the russians and the really whispering in assad's ear i tend to think the the the the syrians are saying enough is enough they will strike back when the syrian civil war start to two thousand and eleven in there and then spread to other regions of syria with the support of the worst with the support of the united states is that no and these are the only additional sure that the opposition would win and that assad would lose he would he would go and then pro-american he would. come in in that mosque us and some conflict would be just right here to go to iraq and so for years is it ok. islamic for me sions in syria this is another secret even newspapers like her outs have written about islamic fighters
5:01 pm
being taken to. see indeed and other groups too and. now in the last few years after. tearing the tide in syria and it is now obvious to everyone in the field that assad is going to stay he's not going to go no matter how many pronouncement that they're going to be made by parents by tillerson or anyone else for that matter that israel is now finished with a very different situation so israel now in their stance that contrary to what you expected iranian influence in syria is now going to decrease and somebody who is going to increase you know what israel now wants a street in the future of syria and that's why the u.s. is staying there because they want to stake in the future before we go to the well let me just look at it from another angle i mean they keep talking about israel.
5:02 pm
security well before the syrian war the golan creates was the quiet backwater always israel to lose groups want to take are going to have how it's a syrian territory they saw you in the israeli occupied anybody only by the by is it about talking about israel's security tourists were taken there it was busy firstly cation in israel no it's a war zone why because of the israeli government together with western governments decided to do some resume change in syria i don't know their criterion that iran is spreading its influence you know mr netanyahu comes to what's called to negotiate that russians will somehow pressure iran not to spread into that area they kind of themselves to blame for starting that war if there is anything here gentlemen here we're going to go to a short break and after that short break we'll continue our discussion on some real moonscape with our.
5:03 pm
politicians to do something to. put themselves on the line when they get accepted or rejected. so when you want to be president i'm sure. some want to be. too great to be approached this is what. three people. i'm interested in the why not just. push it. that's in american interests to not see any russians die in terrorist attacks as it is in russian interest to prevent any terrorist attacks in the united states or elsewhere in the world so i don't think there's any dispute on that in congress and i think maybe some of the posturing is frankly political as opposed to substantive
5:04 pm
. hey everybody i'm stephen bob. taft hollywood guy. every proud american first of all i'm just george bush and. this is my buddy max famous financial guru a little bit different. with all the drama happening in our country and i'm hitting the road to have some fun every day americans. and hopefully start to bridge the gap this is the great american people.
5:05 pm
that. welcome across for all things considered i'm peter we're discussing some real news . you can argue before you into the break you want to finish up but we i was seriously in syria this is the whole situation is escalating so quickly we've had at least one israeli jet shot down write it most recent hours we've had israeli syrian pro syrian government arab tribes in east syria attacked by the united
5:06 pm
states and over one hundred of them killed there's. rumors about whether russian security contractors were killed as well that's that's unconfirmed as of yet we had . one or possibly two turkish helicopter shot down over africa. by the kurdish forces that are resisting the turkish invasion of syria there and we have a russian fighter that was shot down by a manpad this follows a multiple drone swarm attacks on russian military bases the syrian conflict is at a point of escalation and crisis that we haven't even seen before the low hanging with you know we didn't really know that if you were watching cable network that you get what israel and the u.s. really show is that if there's anyone that has a right of self-defense it is syria against israel the united states turkey saudi arabia and so there's another very short point to it and i think he's in for this escalation on march eighteenth they're going to be presidential elections in russian it is when you were well known in the united states and other western
5:07 pm
capitals and one of the things they're trying to do these days is to discredit the russian position as much as they can before the elections so in the next month month and a half we will see more of this more of these attempts to propaganda information of war attacks on the russian interests around the world not just to syria everything is possible you are just going to say that don't forget about russian medicine in the u.s. elections where you see direct u.s. mandan in russian ok. well probably. later in the week we'll go back to a member of there's going to be more memos coming up but i want to talk about some diplomacy and optics mark the opening of the olympic games. who's the winner and who's the loser from an optics point if you go ahead peace peace the winner is the winner the site of the two koreas the north korean delegation entering south korea and marching together the end lympics under unified
5:08 pm
a unified. the flag with the other is you're out there without the border this was incredible and there's one point person on scene who was extremely upset by this and had to give his protest against peace and that was the u.s. president mike pence. vice president sorry. friday and so we could go to this interview ok mark new to morrow knew he refused to stand up for the for the host south korea because it was a joint unification team he refused to shake hands with any of the north koreans out of it's he had this look on his face and actually the the side i that kim jong un sr who is leading the north korean delegate delegation sitting behind mike pence gave him that's that's gone viral over the internet shows i think you know for once the world with north korea side on this showing discussed at the u.s. . throwing
5:09 pm
a tantrum even the prospect that some peace just tears are being made in the koreas and he's got. the. north korean leader otherwise known by some people as rocket man is turning in to be quite. adroit diplomat and you say much more of the diplomat up there is somebody who has been for years posturing himself but i think himself there's a deal maker on the right thing that book deal well what has. passed here almost every day twitter speech is ratings and so forth like you know one of the general assembly yes exactly i did the speech in front of the general assembly locked and loaded ready to attack plan. exactly almost every single day. and essentially of his administration kept saying that the united states will not negotiate with north korea. until and unless you're
5:10 pm
a yank it gets rid of its nuclear program and so forth the only young has not has not compromised when the single negotiating issue not a single one and what has happened it has been able to negotiate with south korea due to coming to the olympics as a single team and how came you have a visit exactly he has just invited the new south korean president to north korea historic visit if it happens and what has this happened the meaning is in this that both south and north korea they do not want war or there's a huge early lead that they have they know the real national interest yes there are a couple of very very good. this question nationally is not to kill hundreds of thousands or millions of little of koreans in the north or the south where i think we should at least mention on this program there are no russian flags where a lot at these limping ceremony that the russian team actually cut to march us
5:11 pm
olympic athletes from russia in neutral quotes and i think that new play here there was that because i think it's a good development because there were many people in russia who did not receive the message from the west you know who said that the russian television is exaggerating they're not so hostile ok you have got sanctions you have got the criminalist your word threats or war now if you didn't get that look at the already pick fleet's you know neutral course the russian flag being banned and if you don't take it you don't you don't make conclusions out of that story you are just blind one should develop and before that just days before the olympic games started the. sports courts international sports scores that you know yes yes in. switzerland acquitted ninety eight twenty three of the russian answered yes and then the international olympic committee said still even though they have been clear that they're not
5:12 pm
going to let. this this got to be old to the same a court would have to say doing this we scored. a collective punishment for sanctions by the league and court said after i received threaten that the court said no no yes no he got the. nobody to the court so there is no evidence that these twenty eight russian athletes did you know any doping they were involved in any way and still the international olympic committee they're still clearly dominated by western political machinations here denied them coming simply because the russian the you know the humorous thing is that the court said there is no evidence that these russians he was doping but there is no evidence that i was seeing was partial to that so they kind of goal this is also. yes but you know i think where i think it's still a good development sports is not life sports is about imitating life preparing yourself for difficult yes so expressions don't get the message no. we're simply
5:13 pm
not to watch here or there. i mean it's just russian it's just destroying the tradition ok i mean you know you can criticize you know it's all about money and it's about sponsors you know and all the big sports franchise you know but at the end of the day it's about individuals competing against others in that that later is being peeled away the demise and it should i have to wonder you know it's taken us twenty yes twenty or at least you know how one how are the athletes when they. conduct their games is it could be in the back of their head it's like well you know the best person in this field is not on the field right now it cheapens every single if you met or you are right you know this is one this is the most horrible thing you know that. advocated a total ban on the russian team at the rio games the same voices were heard about
5:14 pm
these games you know the problem is the problem is north korea did not go. when anything and their team is in south korea their primary care provider is done everything we said that we're going to clear up our. you know that you know they're anti-doping agency in russia we made every corporate minus with the international olympic committee what did we get. you lose it is come in and they look at is it is a very. common it would take them or they mean regardless of this i mean the u.s. may have won a temporary petty political victory here but regardless russia still has the third largest contingent at these olympics whether it is the men or what is the medals but maybe these guys already know what is the medals chart look like i mean south korea norway and then. do they get in there rather than writing russian alone russia they're writing a limb pick athletes from russia which you know everyone knows who those medals
5:15 pm
belong to and at the end of the celebrex according to the agreements that have been made if russia abides by all of this bad thing of their flag and their anthem and everything at the end of the olympics russia with its medals intact will be able to march under the russian flag is actually another the whole of it is not going to i'm going to go and there is some speculation that at the last minute there's anybody else this is about sports so it's not going to have the balls being that's always part of our. it's not always about that at least since the last forty years has not been about sports it was about politics let's face it and i think you know the stupidity of the american side i think mark is not quite right about them going in the big three they wanted people in russia to create fortune because they always please did not go to. their own flag ok what they want is russian people create didn't see and the united states i mean not in other states but they released for doing all of these ugly things store our thoughts that's the complete opposite of
5:16 pm
what we've always thought. time for this segment here gentlemen i want to go back to the the possible reproach moment of the two koreas because what is the next step i mean. i started out this part by talking about the optics of it what's the next step to really. gain on these optics the most important step for a south korean for north korea and this is to get the united states out of these negotiations fire because they're not going to be out completely of course ok especially considering the american influence the influence the push of the exercises in south korea in seoul but to get the u.s. as far out of these negotiations as possible and the farther the u.s. is out of there the more chance there is to make it he wants both in the q.b. in the community and sphere in the military a sphere and one of their issues and other issues family. issues and the less chance there is for armed conflict and that when you have these were twenty five seconds as with the situation in israel palestine north korea south korea the
5:17 pm
biggest obstacle to a genuine successful peace process is u.s. interference u.s. pursued over germany using this divide and conquer war in both places it is in u.s. interests demonic interests to keep both conflicts going right then conquer they want to get on with yeah ok gentlemen many thanks to my guests here in moscow and thanks to our viewers for watching us here at r.t. this is the end of our broadcast stay with us for the extended version on our you tube channel see you next time and remember cross talk. join me every thursday on the alex salmond show and i'll be speaking to guest of the world of politics or business i'm showbusiness i'll see you.

chose seemed wrong. when old rules just don't hold. the old beliefs yet to shape out just because the educated and indeed trained equals betrayal. when so many find themselves worlds apart. just to look for common ground. in america a college degree requires a great deal. paying a decade's long debt. studying so hard it requires drugs just.

russia mourns the seventy one people who died in sunday's plane crash near moscow passenger airliner came done just minutes after takeoff leaving no survivors. also coming up in the program this hour the u.s. had made some part of the forces it trains in syria are for. to join a conflict against washington's. secure their second medal at the winter olympics inside korea ticking silver and team figure skating. criticize the russians medal winning performance.
5:21 pm
past the one pm here in moscow this monday february twelfth wherever you're watching from welcome to r.t. international o'neill. russia is mourning the seventy one people killed in a plane crash on sunday the regional passenger jet went down in minutes after taking off from moscow there were no survivors it's not been over twenty four hours since the crush and we're learning more about the passengers on board the ill fated plaited well this was the heart of wing reaction coming up of one grieving mother who lost her only son in the tragedy. so.
5:22 pm
close. with this woman and her daughter also on board the youngest victim was just five years old and. also called the flight it was his thirty third birthday he was on his way home to celebrate with family here's how some of those affected are coming to terms with the tragedy. she will cut the deficit. this is the bill clinton she's got a new issue out of sight here which will be good but when you. use it with this it's even if nobody thinks that.
5:23 pm
the truth even. when you look normal. people. including me knew that we would. the flight's final seconds were captured by a security camera thought to be installed on a nearby house the crash is visible at the top of the picture followed by a powerful explosion you can also see black smoke rising investigators have confirmed that the plane exploded not impact and not in the.

well large scale recovery operation was launched on sunday involving hundreds of emergency service workers vehicles but it's been extremely difficult to locate debris jew to the weather conditions in moscow there on the ground forests. it's getting dark now and there are minutes of daylight left but the search and recovery operation is continuing it is even nearing its conclusion according to the latest statement we heard from the emergency services they've searched twenty five of the thirty square heck this where the plane and its stay bre believe had been thrown about over but as you see one of the biggest problems here is the weather and the snow it's getting colder and colder and they've had to bring in a lot of specialized equipment especially stuff to melt the snow heat cannons as they call them here in russia there are also hundreds and hundreds of rescuers here
5:25 pm
they're working in shifts to the some can rest while others sift through the snow in the wreckage and day brief but both black boxes have now been found and investigators should have everything they need to rebuild point by point that stake off the short flight and to find out whatever it was exactly that caused this fatal tragedy but as i say the search and recovery operation itself is nearing its conclusion and it will be continuing into the night again. murat guess the if radar stations recorded the erratic flight path of the plane it reached an altitude of nearly two thousand meters before suddenly plunging to fifteen hundred meters after regaining height it up part and plea plummeted once again and disappeared completely from radars well the last time it was seen on
5:26 pm
screen was at nine hundred meters the plane was an one for eight owned by surat tougher lines it had been in operation for less than eight years the airline is now being investigated by the authorities but the company claims it carried out all of the necessary technical maintenance however this particular plane was previously involved in several safety incidents including engine and fuselage problems well with the investigation underway we spoke to aviation experts about the possible causes of the crash blood to send my thoughts and prayers to all the families of the passengers and crew and the airline staff in the wake of this tragedy the weather is probably the primary factor that depends a lot on the rate of the snowfall or precipitation and how long the airplane had been sitting on the ground collecting all that material the fact that the airplane became airborne and climbed to six thousand feet tells me that probably the
5:27 pm
airplane was in pretty good shape at the time of the takeoff we're dealing with agree great tragedy there are common protocol for an investigation the structural integrity of the aircraft if you use the engines and so on. you look at various energy sources whether we're talking electrical systems power for the engine. really. external to the aircraft and then we have. human issues. america has admitted that some of the kurdish forces it trains in syria are shifting to fight against one of washington's own allies turkey is currently on the offensive in northern syria against groups. terrorist artie's killing more on the tensions in syria i'm happy to say joins me live in the. hell of just looking at this if i try between
5:28 pm
the lines here we have a situation where washington has trained armed this breakaway group as well to fight against america's own nato ally is that a for summation well at this point we have confirmation from u.s. secretary of defense james mattis he's confirming that a number of the u.s. trained kurdish forces in the s.d.f. have actually relocated to northern syria to fight against turkey this is what he said the destruction of was going on up enough and right now which is drawing off some of the syrian democratic forces the sea the snuff and on the road so that schools and police their attention to shift. now at this point both turkey which is a member of nato as well as the u.s. trained kurdish fighters they are both key allies of the united states in the
5:29 pm
region there has actually been quite a bit of tension recently between all three of them at this point it's really rather unclear exactly how things are going to continue now the usa has supplied weapons to kurdish fighters in in syria and car washington's longtime ally has actually made a point of saying that this is essentially they they consider this to be u.s. supporting terrorists consider this to be support for terrorism and now we hear also from mattis he is come forward and said that turkey has security concerns about the kurdish forces in syria are actually legitimate this is what he said. we can seem to work with. disagreements which is how do we take them on as he was rapidly it's possible they have a legitimate security concern and we do not dismiss one bits of them now this security concern that he is referring to are forces that have been armed
5:30 pm
by the united states in syria the kurdish fighters associated with the s.d.f. in the u.s. led coalition now at this point it seems like washington is really between a rock and a hard place i mean they're trying to keep two allies happy two allies that are clearly at odds now things escalated when turkey began its military operations in syria against the kurdish forces this is called operation olive branch and from what we understand there is actually a process in the works to rename the street that the u.s. embassy in turkey is located on to rename that street after operation olive branch the operation by turkish forces in syria against the kurds that are armed by the united states so it's pretty clear the tensions are rising and questions are being raised and the united states with its two allies turkey and the kurdish fighters is really stuck in a strange situation where the goals of its policy are not exactly clear lie from.
