a hold on mental illness stop guns from being put in the hands of mentally ill people but also we've got to fight evil with with force and that means putting guards armed guards in schools and in places we've got them in federal buildings we've got them in airports. why not schools you know the same the easiest place for a shooter to walk in and hurt innocent people shoot or kill innocent people is a place where there are no guns and there are no guns in most schools we need a concealed carry permits for people who are qualified to use guns who will stand up and fight back against the evil doers that are prepared to do these kinds of atrocities bob stay right there a lot more politicking right after the break.

to hear him say that they are actively investigating a lot of the things that i thought were just being swept under the rug i'm very concerned about the leadership of the f.b.i. that seems to have gone totally astray and has been concealing important information from the american people you know in this whole effort to unveil colu zhen with the russians well we know now after two years of investigation that there was no trump collusion with or we don't know that yet we well we pretty well know it i think it would have been leaked because they've been the f.b.i. certainly selectively leaked anything but they wanted a kid and your anger be at the russians for what they meddling in elections that's terrible. i think that yeah my anger is that the russians at the chinese it's about anybody who would interfere in our try to interfere in our elections but you know we do it with them so president obama went to israel interfered their lectures he's

gone to honduras interfered in their elections. unfortunately that's international politics and we do know that the russians didn't affect the outcome of this election we know that for a fact and in fact. the. deputy attorney general has stated as much just in the last couple of weeks. but other countries are going to try to mess around in. they're adversaries affairs and the russians have been doing it since lenin took over one hundred years ago they're going to they're going to do it i was not terribly impressed with. mr muller's indictment of russians who will never come here and face charges that frankly look little surprise for us it's not going to stop the russians from doing what they're

doing how are we supposed to be mad are we supposed to declare a nuclear war against them because of it no that's not going to happen at least i hope not. so we have to recognize all the countries of going to mess in our election or i have to do put up defenses if we can stop congress overwhelmingly test sanctions against russia in the twenty sixteen election but mr trump has not implemented those sanctions why not well. i can answer that because i don't know number one but i would say that we have larger issues with the russians like their submarines and ships all over the world and their nuclear weapons pointed at us and our nuclear weapons pointed at them so i would go very very carefully about doing anything like that simply because of an election process and by the way what did president obama do if obama himself said that there was no way that the russians could tamper with their elections and that it wouldn't have

an effect only after the elections turned out against hillary clinton did a hell of a sudden anybody becomes concerned about the outcome of the elections or the russian involvement but mcconnell and senator from new york had planned a joint republican democratic to take actions against russia and mcconnell went against it obama was for it and that was in two thousand and fourteen so don't say that obama didn't do anything no mean i'm just saying that i saw a clip just recently of just months to three or four months be. for the election in two thousand and sixteen obama put food the very question that the russians could possibly interfere or affect the outcome of the elections and remember when governor romney who was a candidate for president raised it in a debate with obama way back when.

obama just dismissed him entirely said i know you're dealing in the one nine hundred eighty s. this is a two thousands and rush is not a problem while the sun is for a rush is a problem for obama by the democrats for the f.b.i. for the n.s.a. and i'd say a little late when you wait until after the election to say anything. bob as always thanks for your time thank you so much larry thanks for having me now joining the is bill press progressive commentator host of the bill press show on the young turks network he joins me from washington bill get us up to date on the white house problem involving security council clearances for the top staff what is the latest on this issue. well the latest is that there are still. dozens maybe. certainly dozens that have no security clearance they have an interim

security clearance because they haven't been able to get permanent security clearance we know that of course rob porter the guy was accused of domestic violence by two of his ex-wives did not have one he was he was then a job for thirteen months with just an interim security clearance so john kelly the chief of staff. issued a rule last fall saying we're going to limit these security clearances and not have any more of them last friday just last friday john kelly issued another statement saying we're going to now start weeding them out of the if have an interim security clearance are going to have to go we can't keep you on any longer well guess what there is there are two people in the white house who a pretty big names who don't have a permanent security clearance jarrad cushion or son in law and daughter evocate trump and now they're pushing back and they're saying no matter what john kelly says we're not going anywhere we're going to stay on the job so i think it raises

two questions larry one is who's going to win this battle the daughter and son in law or the chief of staff number one and number two i want to know why can't get a permanent security clearance i'm not saying he was guilty of domestic violence but there is something in his past and the f.b.i. is saying he's got a problem do you believe that kelly is targeting jared no i think kelly is trying to do his job i think he understands that if you're dia chaired question is in charge believe it or not a piece in the middle east not that he has any credentials but i mean if you've got somebody who's in charge of that sensitive area the world traveling over there meeting with world leaders and trying to put a peace deal together and getting all those top secret documents or crosses desk and doesn't have a security clearance i think that's a concern for all americans or just like the staff secretary rob porter

at the white house he was the guy that handed trump all the top secret documents i mean anybody could have blackmailed him because he didn't have a right to see those documents. kelli doesn't clear. does does kelly have to go. it's hard for me to imagine that trump could keep him on the job if he fires gerard kelly trump would have to make a decision between kelly or question or kelly or eve aka where do you think that's going to go. i don't know but i'd like to be down tomorrow largo when they make that this is. in october of last year you're on this show and we discussed the massacre in las vegas and it was not deadly is michigan american history now four months later another shooting is in the news this one in florida but everyone is

saying this one's kind of different the kids are involved they're going to have a margin in march they're going to march the washer do you think this one may change this. you know what larry i honestly do believe it could and i have been i've been in depression ever since columbine but particularly ever since sandy hook sandy hook nothing the paulson nightclub nothing san bernardino nothing happened you're right i remember talking to you about this las vegas nothing happened but these kids have strong voices they are determined they have an experience you know i've never had they looked in the down the barrel of an a r fifteen and they saw their their friends getting blown away right and left there they're not going to forget this they're not going to give up just because like the florida legislature didn't do anything the first time and the other thing they've got larry which i think could make

a difference they are they know the social media they that their masters they have opportunities now for building a movement that you and i never had right when we were in school so i think it's going to make it could it could make a difference this time and also there are a lot of politicians up for reelection in two thousand and eighteen and i think if this becomes an issue in those midterm elections. i think you're going to see some people some politicians get a little backbone all of a sudden will the number one issue in the twenty eighteenth congressional elections be true. yes i know. you're a political answer but. here's what i mean by that yes he will be a. central issue and yes republicans are going to have to defend him and democrats are going to make republicans defend him right down the line on the dreamers on the guns on the tax cuts on obamacare and on everything but the democrats need more

than that if that's all the democrats do not going to do very well the democrats have to go out with him and to the american people with a message of what they will do what they will deliver what their priorities are they're going to have to say look we're not here for the one percent like donald trump we're really here for working class americans middle class americans we want to prove your lives in these ways and if they do that. i think there's a good chance that democrats could take the house and the senate. what do you make of the former aide brigades apparently negotiating a plea deal with muller. to turn the tables in and what do you make of these sealed indictments well let me tell you what it tells me and certainly the indictment of the thirteen russians and now the word that rick gates who was paul manna for its deputy and his business partner is ready to cooperate robert muller and then the fact that this dutch diplomat has pleaded guilty for

lying to the f.b.i. i think i think what the white house ought to recognize and the american people should robert muller is a serious cop on a serious mission leading a criminal investigation into the trump administration on two fronts whether they will maybe three one certainly whether they were helping the russians in what we know the russians were doing to influence the election to whether by firing james comey or some other stuff donald trump obstructed justice and three whether there are some financial shot. shine and again it's with the trump empire and by the way i think this is where i could get caught. that could end up being criminal activity so i tell you what i think the message is overall i get robert mueller is on a serious mission he's got a top notch staff this thing is in high gear it's not going to end anytime soon and it is going all the way to the oval office bill is always thanks for your time

a lot of things and you take only one of them. no doubt that both point minister netanyahu and president obama. took positions in the last couple of years make peace farther from us rather than closer both of them has now positions that cannot. close the gap. the gap between the palestinians and israelis. is huge the much. each side willing to give to the other side is not up to them in a minimum of two hours or so and what is the sofa what is the. we all know what are the palmettos. deal between israel and the palestinians it is basically the clinton public and everybody knows that each one of the should do if they're

the painful concessions that go against the national narrative. believes are religious the palestinians have to agree to. is that israel is a jewish state and this is the end of conflict and finality of. they have to agree is that there is no light of return into is would only two palestinian state and that is well has a legitimate. demands on its security does well it has to agree to a palestinian state to go back to basically sixty seven border and to partition of jerusalem and have been was not here. and. he's not willing to do the concession so b.b. for sure is not here. so let's go point by point everything that you just sat from what it looks from the outside for someone who is not palestinian or israeli

it does look like that this and listening to go sheesh and of peace while kind of protecting your own goals and reaching your own goals is convenient for everyone because you know if you strike a deal if you strike it's a compromise that we have to abide by you have to you know make concessions do you feel like maybe the current status quo is better than the fixed settlement depends which settlement you see the status quo. is more sustainable many think it's more sustainable over as an israeli i don't start to school deserve i want to have. a conflict i want to have to be shaped as a jewish democratic secure. this is very important too but moving from the status quo somebody have to convince me that i'm not going to

talk more problematic situation and i have to remind you that israelis have done two big move towards the resolution of the conflict there. which ended up launching a total complain against us with fifteen hundred israelis killed and then the withdrawal from gaza we were used to war from gaza to the last inch we dismantle the settlements are what we got good neighbors we got to tell organisations that launching rockets to our villages and i will keep it simple dug tunnels so instead of having good neighbors we have done which is a terrible state. so what we have what we have right now right the situation is quite different. i have spoken to the palestinian side just recently and you have sat what compromises they need to make in order to reach

a peace deal what can you tell me in your own words one more time what compromises can israel make to reach a peace deal with hamas or with the palestinians sorry. that's a good point because the palestinians are not united even if the. left will be in power and they will go to ramallah to negotiate with. a bombers and cannot deliver cannot deliver is hardly controlling the west bank details of her muscle controlling the gaza strip zone not to recognize the or slow agreement. zone not willing to denounce to all and. their government between the p.l.o. and is with so you're saying you cannot strike a peace deal just for the west bank overlooking gaza and hamas i'm saying in this moment unfortunately you cannot reach diploma meant peace however what we should do today is keep the two state solution alive keep it as

a potential future the solution and there is a lot that can be done on both sides or on interim steps and if i were in a position of. the us media towards russia. i wouldn't try and as a secured failure i would. in term of a solution in term agreement that will keep the two state solution to life and i give you some palmettos. beyond the security line the other side. continue to build in the blocks that everybody understands that will be in the future of israel develop the palestinian economy the palestinian civil society bottom up hope to create a state that will not be another failed state because if you give the worst

independence to morrow it's will be taking over. in a second and we'll have another failed state this is not something that anybody want not even in d.c. general i want to ask you about the statement that you made you said that israel should move forward with the peace initiative right now because it is in a strong position because right now the international situation is and its favor so what kind of terms do you see israel dictating to palestinians if you're negotiating from a position of strength can that be a good thing for a lasting peace i mention both sides be balanced in the same sort of strength physician because then it would always be israel the strong one and palestine the wick one how is that good for the last. piece.
