an ira is not doing anything other than expressing the views they have. to and as in congress when they're giving him the money. the money's not that's not the issue the issue is abiding by the constitution you know for every person that's killed there are thousands of people who don't want to be killed and want to have a gun to protect themselves if some but man a walks into their house and tries to attack their family so it's we really have to understand passing laws don't work if if passing laws worked there wouldn't be any killings in chicago and many killings in washington d.c. because they have strong gun laws. no it's passage of simple us if a person larry is going to commit murder he doesn't care much whether or not he violates the law and that's really what it comes down to we've got to somehow get a hold on mental illness stop guns from being put in the hands of mentally ill
12:01 pm
people but also we've got to fight evil with with force and that means putting guards armed guards in schools and in places we've got them in federal buildings we've got them in airports. why not schools you know the same the easiest place for a shooter to walk in and hurt innocent people shoot or kill innocent people is a place where there are no guns and there are no guns in most schools we need a concealed carry permits for people who are qualified to use guns who will stand up and fight back against the evil doers that are prepared to do these kinds of atrocities bob stay right there a lot more politicking right after the break.

we were used to war from gaza because they lest. we dismantle the settlements which we got good neighbors we got to tell them the zip launching they look at still i will feel it's just that i will keep them safe and dug tunnels so instead of having good neighbors we have a mustang which is a tell all state. united states is going to look very deep into mystic prizes challenge to american supremest see the noise from the outside noise from russia not from china from the inside all sides missing what you see now all around russia and there is. no russia in the opportunity this is psychological are listed on the bill of times to find somebody outside the united states will use. while the real problem is as.

12:04 pm
well to back to politics we're talking with bob livingston former republican member of congress from louisiana and a founding partner of the livingston group mr trump has repeatedly criticized him. he wants regulations to be finalized very soon about bomb stocks he wants sessions to come down harder on many other things including looking into the obama administration are you critical of attorney general sessions i saw the general on television just recently and i was very pleased
12:05 pm
to hear him say that they are actively investigating a lot of the things that i thought were just being swept under the rug i'm very concerned about the leadership of the f.b.i. that seems to have gone totally astray and has been concealing important information from the american people. you know in this whole effort to unveil colu zhen with the russians well we know now after two years of investigation that there was no trump collusion with or we don't know that yet we well we pretty well know it i think it would have been leaked because they've been the f.b.i. certainly selectively leaked anything but they wanted to shouldn't your anger be at the russians for what they meddling in elections that's terrible. i think that yeah in my years of the russians at the chinese it's about anybody who would interfere in our tried in a fair elections but you know we do it with them president obama went to israel
12:06 pm
interfered their lectures he's gone to honduras interfered in their elections. unfortunately that's international politics and we do know that the russians didn't affect the outcome of this election we know that for a fact and in fact. the. deputy attorney general has stated as much just in the last couple of weeks. but other countries are going to try to mess around in. they're adversaries affairs and the russians have been doing it since lenin took over one hundred years ago they're going to they're going to do it i was not terribly impressed with. mr muller's indictment of russians who will never come here and face charges that frankly look little surprise for us it's not going to stop the russians from doing what they're
12:07 pm
doing how are we supposed to be mad are we supposed to declare a nuclear war against them because of it no that's not going to happen at least i hope not. so we have to recognize all the countries of going to mess in our election or i have to do put up defenses if we can stop congress overwhelmingly test sanctions against russia in the twenty sixteen election but mr trump has not implemented those sanctions why not well. i can answer that because i don't know number one but i would say that we have larger issues with the russians like their submarines and ships all over the world and their nuclear weapons pointed at us and our nuclear weapons pointed at them so i would go very very carefully about doing anything like that simply because of an election process and by the way what did president obama do if obama himself said that there was no way that the russians could tamper with their elections and that it wouldn't have
12:08 pm
an effect only after the elections turned out against hillary clinton did a hell of a sudden anybody becomes concerned about the outcome of the or the russian involvement but mcconnell and senator from new york had planned a joint republican democratic to take actions against russia and mcconnell went against it obama was for it and that was in two thousand and fourteen so don't say that obama didn't do anything no mean i'm just saying that i saw a clip just recently of just months to three or four months. for the election in two thousand and sixteen obama put food the very question that the russians could possibly interfere or affect the outcome of the elections and remember when governor romney who is a candidate for president raised it in a debate with obama way back when.
12:09 pm
obama just dismissed him entirely said i know you're dealing in the one nine hundred eighty s. this is a two thousands and rush is not a problem all of a sudden it's for a rush is a problem for obama by the democrats for the f.b.i. for the n.s.a. and i'd say a little late when you wait until after the election to say anything i thought as always thanks he had time thank you so much larry thanks for having me now joining me is bill press progressive commentator host of the bill press show on the young turks network he joins me from washington bill get us up to date on the white house problem involving security council clearances for the top staff what is the latest on this issue. well the latest is that there are still. dozens maybe. certainly dozens that have no security clearance they have an interim
12:10 pm
security clearance because they haven't been able to get permanent security clearance we know that of course rob porter the guy was accused of domestic violence by two of his ex-wives did not have one he was he was then the job thirteen months with just an interim security clearance so john kelly the chief of staff. issued a rule last fall saying we're going to limit these security clearances and not have any more of them last friday just last friday john kelly issued another statement saying we're going to now start weeding them out if have an interim security clearance are going to have to go we can't keep you on any longer well guess what there is there are two people in the white house who a pretty big names who don't have a permanent security clearance jarrad cushion or son in law and daughter evocate trump and now they're pushing back and they're saying no matter what john kelly says we're not going anywhere we're going to stay on the job so i think it raises
12:11 pm
two questions larry one is who's going to win this battle daughter and son in law or the chief of staff number one and number two i want to know why cushion or can't get a permanent security clearance i'm not saying he was guilty of domestic violence but there is something in his past and the f.b.i. is saying he's got a problem do you believe that kelly is targeting jack. no i think kelly is trying to do his job i think he understands that if you're dia chaired question is in charge believe it or not a piece in the middle east not that he has any credentials but i mean if you've got somebody who's in charge of that sensitive area the world traveling over there meeting with world leaders and trying to put a peace deal together and getting all those top secret documents or crosses desk and doesn't have a security clearance i think that's a concern for all americans or just like the staff secretary rob porter
12:12 pm
at the white house he was the guy that handed trump all the top secret documents i mean anybody could have blackmailed him because he didn't have a right to see those documents. kelli doesn't clear. does does kelly have to go. it's hard for me to imagine that trump could keep him on the job if he fires gerard kelly trump would have to make a decision between kelly or question or kelly or eve aka where do you think that's going to go. i don't know but i'd like to be down tomorrow largo when they make that this is. not tobar of last year you're on this show and we discussed the massacre in las vegas that was not deadly is michigan american history now four months later another shooting is in the news this one in florida but everyone is
12:13 pm
saying. this one's kind of different the kids are involved they don't have a margin in march they're going to march to watch do you think this one may change this. you know what larry i honestly do believe it could and i have been i've been in depression ever since columbine but particularly ever since sandy hook sandy hook nothing the pulse a nightclub nothing san bernardino nothing happened you're right a member talking about this las vegas nothing happened but these kids have strong voices they are determined they have an experience you and i have never had they looked in the down the barrel of an a r fifteen and they saw their their friends getting blown away right and left there they're not going to forget this they're not going to give up just because like the florida legislature didn't do anything the first time and the other thing they've got larry which i think could make
12:14 pm
a difference they are they know the social media they'd their masters they have opportunities now for building a movement that you and i never had right when we were in school so i think it's going to make it could it could make a difference this time and also there are a lot of politicians up for reelection in two thousand and eighteen and i think if this becomes an issue in those midterm elections. i think you're going to see some people some politicians get a little backbone all of a sudden will the number one issue in the twenty eighteen congressional elections be true and. yes i know. you're a political answer but. here's what i mean by that yes he will be a. central issue and yes republicans are going to have to defend him and democrats are going to make republicans defend him right down the line on the dreamers on the guns on the tax cuts on obamacare and on everything but the democrats need more
12:15 pm
than that if that's all the democrats do not going to do very well the democrats have to go out with him and to the american people with a message of what they will do what they will deliver what their priorities are they're going to have to say look we're not here for the one percent like donald trump we're really here for working class americans middle class americans we want to prove your lives in these ways and if they do that. i think there's a good chance that democrats could take the house and the senate. what do you make of the former aide brigades apparently negotiating a plea deal with muller. to turn the tables and what do you make of these sealed indictments well let me tell you what it tells me and certainly the indictment of the thirteen russians and now the word that rick gates who was paul manna for its deputy and his business partner is ready to cooperate robert muller and then the fact that this dutch diplomat has pleaded guilty for
12:16 pm
lying to the f.b.i. i think i think what the white house ought to recognize and the american people should robert muller is a serious cop on a serious mission leading a criminal investigation into the trump administration on two fronts whether they will maybe three one certainly whether they were helping the russians in what we know the russians were doing to influence the election to whether by firing james comey or some other stuff donald trump obstructed justice and three whether there are some financial shot. shine and again that's with the trump empire and by the way i think this is where a hard question could get caught. that could end up being criminal activity so i tell you what i think the message is overall i get robert mueller is on a serious mission he's got a top notch staff this thing is in high gear it's not going to end anytime soon and
12:17 pm

i must. put up. up up up. up up. i'm not feeling. this is all it's international coming up this half hour of news the un's most powerful. prepares for another round of crisis talks on syria's rebel held eastern guta as russia announces the international community of double standards. russian lawmakers consider tougher penalties for child sex abuse as more harrowing allegations emerge from an orphanage in the city of chile. one gold one silver
12:21 pm
and a failed doping test and a ticket to the men's hockey fun in seoul goes been a hectic day for russia's athletes at the winter games. but take a tour around the olympics host city too with no less than donald trump and kim jong il on what kind of any. i think shooting two out international with me kevin and it's just turned three pm this friday the twenty third of february. first russia's ambassador to the un is calling on all warring sides factions in syria's rebel held region of eastern goo to cease hostilities addressing the security council of a silly bandz are also criticized the way the international media and the foreign powers have been representing the situation in the enclave. there is
12:22 pm
a massive psychosis in the mainstream media which is spreading same rumors day after day it doesn't help to understand the situation. they put forward by dear but their only hospitals in eastern guta which the syrian army are fighting against now what we just heard was the russian ambassador to the united nations responding to what he characterized as a smear campaign now the meeting was called in response the situation in eastern guta that is a suburb of damascus located to the east of damascus and at this point it's an enclave of rebels and terrorist forces now there's been increasing hostilities. and he's doing good as the syrian government is fighting to retake the city from terrorist russia was responding to some of the very heated words and accusations we heard from other countries in the chamber in the lead up to his remark systematic targeting of civilians and sheer disregard for human life and attacks against health care and hospitals that constitute war crimes the regime wants to keep
12:23 pm
bombing and gassing these four hundred thousand people and the assad regime is counting on russia to make sure the security council is unable to stop their suffering now in his remarks to the fifteen member body in the bed he was very clear that situations in eastern guta are rather dire however the situation is much more complex than it's being made out to be but essentially civilians are being used as human shields by the terrorists to fight it out to some of the more extreme allegations being made against russia and syria are being made by the forces that just leveled the city of raka the u.s. led coalition leveled syria's rucka this is in the recent post should be forgotten so false when it happened there was no crime for some reason nobody demanded international law to observe the. cinema thirty yet we were forced to leave hundreds because of isis and when we

return we found everything that used to rubble look at all the devastation of rock is a ghost city the ninety minute that we live in in the midst of destruction we feel completely abandoned everything around has been destroyed. by fierce or the city lies and rubble have to be to remove the debris with own money there's no running water so we have to but it's better for us and the u.s. coalition caused the destruction of records and has a responsibility to rebuild the city we need to help with restoring the water supply and clearing the rubble. the u.n. says syrian air strikes are killed at least one hundred in eastern guta this week it's secretary general's describe the situation there as hell on earth for its part the assad government says it's simply trying to bring an end to rebel shelling attacks that have been killing civilians in nearby damascus our senior

correspondent laura goes to have looks next at who the fight is controlling that in battle and plain actually our. east ghouta is not a nice place to live in surrounded as it is under. constant war zone within and without. the army of islam holds most of east ghouta as the name may imply these guys aren't crusading for democracy and when they aren't busy killing each other they share power with nuestra while qaeda in syria and the number of smaller groups. these are ruthless people they cage civilians literally put woman and the

elderly in metal cages and hoisted them onto roofs where they left them a literal human shield made of civilians to protect themselves their fighters from airstrikes these same people jihad ists who say they're fighting to free the country from as'ad then turn their guns on protesters when they day complain about the jihad ists themselves. these infamous incident being one of them a crowd of demonstrators. fired upon by rebel fighters john kerry himself once called the rebels holding east ghouta a subgroup of isis and. remember what the u.s. led coalition did to isis in mosul.
12:27 pm
what up they leveled and then ty's city thousands of civilians dead yet they say there was no choice the terrorists were sponsible by using human shields a sad fact of war two billion casualties are a fact of life in this sort of situation do you agree that some of the the high level of i think ridiculous standard that we had previously is now created this. behavior by isis that they now realize if they take human shields they're going to avoid being struck and that actually this is adding to the problem congresswoman i do believe they understand our sensitivity to civilian casualties and they're exploiting that and i do agree that as we move into these urban environments it is in become more and more difficult to apply extraordinarily high standards for the things we're doing although we will try for some reason this time around they seem to be avoiding any mention of who it is that controls east ghouta all but the same
12:28 pm
job ists when these limits blindly shelled damascus every day and slaughter more and more civilians well that's war when the syrian army responds suddenly it's an atrocity remarkable isn't it how the rules change entirely depending on who's calling the shots. u.s. state department spokesperson has a no it is also commented on the situation in syria busted russia are over it throws him some harsh words for us that he is well be shout to the russian government to implore them to stop enabling the syrian regime to do what is stealing to its own people is russia listening i'm not sure that they are but i would encourage each of you to ask russia take these questions to vladimir putin take these questions to r.t. to sputnik asking them those very questions what are they doing to stop the

devastation the deaths and the murders that are taking place in syria i think what she tried to say is that any kind of civilian deaths that take place in the course of the syrian government offensive are the responsible of the russian government because the russians are supporting the syrians so therefore anything they say the syrians are guilty of russia is guilty of to that same principle could be applied for example when the iraqi forces recovered a bosal from diane or one of the kurdish led forces the s.d.f. recovered rocka from di actually in both cases with strong american air support which took a tremendous civilian toll in these areas but. also russian lawmakers are considering harsher penalties for child sex abuse is itself a series of extremely disturbing allegations emerged from an orphanage in the central city of chile have been sick.

i asked my son what they did with the man who came to see them my son was stunned and said mate right potato i asked what else they did he rape me. that was his answer i was lost for words i called another mother she told me her kids had the same story. my son decided to tell me everything he told me i was so afraid that they said they would draw me in the lake and would lock me up in rehab for the rest of my. children say that one of the supervisors who brought them to this man and his friend.
