ground. syrian peace process springs together the leaders of russia turkey and around for a trilateral meeting on wednesday. to meet present at the summit. in france in the middle of transport chaos is rail workers launch an industrial strike against president macro's drive to overhaul the state funded industry. and this is really dangerous george street. and the us media company is under fire after telling t.v. presenters to read a script to probe against fake nice critics say that if there's a politically motivated mess. plus the british media indulges in alternative theories on the poisoning of former double agent and his daughter in britain it's

in the absence of any official information yet from the investigation. very good evening to you great to have your company. this is the international. president putin is in ankara for talks with the turkish leader. on the visit is ahead of a trilateral summit along with turkey and iran on wednesday reports. i'm just outside the presidential palace in ankara turkey we've just heard cannons being fired that's how tiber do on is welcoming his russian counterpart vladimir putin it was totally visible previously and you can see it on the leader's faces today now there is absolutely no doubt that they put behind the conflict

over the downing of the russian army jet from a couple of years ago turkey and russia are genuinely very close now and i have a perfect example to prove that sources in the diplomatic community have suggested that there was an enormous pressure on and corrupt from the west to make them kick out russian diplomats as a result of the script all poisoning scandal just like many european countries said but despite being allied with the u.k. and with the u.s. through nato ankara said no way and here is going to quote from time to on just because some countries took some steps based on allegations we shouldn't just follow them and do the same the presidents of turkey and russia of course have many joint projects to take care of including launching the construction of a nuclear power plants then besides that something that always bothers mr putin and
10:03 am
mr aired on is syria tuesday is the time for all kinds of discussions between vladimir putin and the turkish president typing on and on wednesday they will be joined by the iranian leader hassan rouhani reason number one for all that is syria absolutely different things are in it for all three leaders but somehow thanks to the trio the syrian crisis is no longer a dead end the so-called calif it is all but gone and russian efforts have shifted on to conflict not. that before seemed to be impossible to untie russia has almost completed its operation and east ghouta thanks to the so-called reconciliation center and the humanitarian pauses backed by moscow as many as one hundred fifty thousand civilians were able to escape the blockade.

at less than what i'm going to tell you as you. plus it was thought that the rebels were never going to leave another area called duma but an agreement has been reached and the fighters are being escorted to adlib on green buses some would argue it only plays into the hands of the assad government but then why are some rebels saying yes to turkey next which is trying to find a balance between a war on kurdish militants which it considers terrorists appeasing syrian rebels and being friends with russia and her olive branch military seems to have paid off for the turks turkey has taken the city of our friend from the kurds and a massive blow for the community that ankara considers terrorists when it comes to sorting out the war damascus versus the rebels turkey is also actively taking part
10:05 am
but obviously they're backing the syrian opposition it is thanks to ankara some of the toughest syrian rebels agreed to come to sought cheap for the syria national congress iran clearly wants to stay on top of its game as a shia powerhouse of course they've always been on a sad sight fighting a proxy war with saudi arabia and trying to put up a bit of a show against israel but perhaps surprisingly the tentative few reweigh align. seems to be working in the meantime we're knocking the hell out of isis will become another syria like very soon let the other people take care of it now to put it mildly the russians in the rain ians won't be so sure it was america that knocked the hell out of islamic state besides take a look back at the last few months and you'll see that lately sorting out syria is really been up to the trio and so they're back together talking again this time in

ankara. go r.t. . the discuss they upcoming talks now charles shoebridge he's a security analyst and former u.k. army officer very good evening to you charles how would you evaluate relations at the moment between russia and turkey. well there certainly at a better point than they've been for some time remember if we go back of the last few years particularly relation to syria we've seen conflict upon conflict or at least the possibility of conflict worst of all of course when russian war plane was shot down by turkey and of course that brought in a phase of very poor relations between the two countries but as many of us predicted at the time this would be short lived because the strategic interests of both countries and very importantly the economic interests of both countries are very closely aligned and bare a lot of opportunities for cooperation partnership in terms of replacing the
10:07 am
problems on the border with syria and elsewhere we stability and also of course with the relatively new situation of turkey that instead of as many of argued for a number of years back in groups such as i s in syria. again for its own geo strategic advantages against assad of course that policy came to bite back with blowback against turkey lot of terrorist attacks on turkey by isis and of course that has removed again one of the obstacles and prevented more changes for partnership and so between these two countries they are if you like not pursuing a policy is not part of particular what do you think about the problems that turkey has got with the united states and the e.u. and within nato itself which you've already alluded to much of what you just said suggests that you know this summit could have a positive outcome with these alignments of similar interest what about the differences for example operation in africa will that throw

a spanner into the works. well russia is largely taking a pragmatic view of this i think i think it's a doctor more neutral view first of all russia has always supported the territorial integrity of syria as indeed as a general principle of politics around the world in diplomacy generally and so therefore course it isn't naturally disposed to be assisting the kurds watched at the same time recognizing that the kurds have been major partners in fighting against isis and other groups in syria as we know the syrian situation is extraordinarily complicated i think also russia may be acting behind the scenes perhaps in a way to try and at least limit the activities of turkey in taking action against the kurds once the kurds and then of course we've also got the situation of course again russia is acutely aware that in some cases the kurds or parts of the kurds have acted as proxies for american forces particularly the so-called simmered
10:09 am
syrian democratic forces largely kurdish dominated which again have been actually engaged in some conflict with syrian irregular forces themselves and so again it's a complicated situation and i think american turkey realize russia and turkey realize that there's iran that they need to put aside those differences and concentrate on the main core similarities or at least areas of cooperation going forward and this meeting is yet another knowledge that is happening much of course i imagine to the annoyance of particular america and other western powers in terms of the conflict on the ground it looks is. going to be the final pocket of resistance of militants in syria one of the options there for tackling the rebels is a full on offensive i mean will be a lot of media attention and if there are civilian casualties that will be played out in public as well so it's a complicated one. and there certainly will be civilian casualties although of course those are perhaps we don't know if they're overstated by the western media because the western media realize overwhelmingly of course for its figures on
10:10 am
civilian casualties in syria on syrian opposition groups and groups such as the white house it's so-called rescuers funded largely by the u.s. u.k. and others who are participants of course on the side of the opposition in syria but nonetheless what we've seen is actually russia and syria bring in peace now stability and an end to largely jihadist rule over large parts of syria actually by having ceasefire and by having withdrawal agreements with the rebels that's been a common feature throughout many years of this war that has actually acted to save civilian life people are always new and in the west it's also been acknowledged that it will be a difficult area because it's always been assumed even by the western media most of the west leaders long claimed that it is the area under which extremist groups in syria have been long dominant and so it's going to be very difficult for those same
10:11 am
media and government outlets in the west to subsequently claim when an offensive starts if it does against that these are somehow moderate rebels again it remains to be seen what kind of diplomacy can take place behind the scenes to avoid civilian casualties but it does look as if if it's going to be recovered along with the rest of syria for the syrian government and the syrian people then it seems at this stage at least some kind of confrontation a showdown is inevitable. going to have your large international time my guest charles schubert security analyst and former u.k. army officer. a special session of the organization for the prohibition of chemical weapons is due to be held on one state moscow called for this meeting over the police in the form of a script and his daughter yulia in the u.k. the organization is said that some of the questions posed by russia could be on citizen is this evening.
10:12 am
in the meantime several british media outlets have come up with their own theories as to what transpired in a situation to break them down for us. tomorrow we'll actually mark the one man one thousand averse aris since the script saga started yet we haven't seen any real proof and russia is still waiting for that with open arms and while all of this has been unraveling we've certainly seen the press here in the u.k. living it up with catchy headlines and to decipher ing curious details of what could have happened with this whole incident one of the ones that's been circulating circulating around recently one about a so-called secret bank accounts there's been reportedly stories going around that
10:13 am
yulia scrip all the daughter of who has been in a coma with him is in the hospital she had gained access just days before the poisoning to about two hundred thousand dollars this was connected to her to seized a brother who had died a year ago in the media have been talking about whether or not this has any connection to what happened with them some reports have been suggesting that he was in a car crash others suggested that he had experienced liver failure while being on a holiday to st petersburg with his wife at the time with the questions being asked about whether his death could have been connected to the script poisoning with potentially people trying to be looking for the whereabouts of himself so lots of questions about the family going around but certainly some details circulating that are doing a not very much but raising eyebrows including one of my personal favorite something that's been dubbed the serial mystery about a one pound bag of bach wheat or porridge that apparently allegedly reportedly uli
10:14 am
a script to ask a friend of hers to bring to the u.k. because it was her father's favorite breakfast and whether or not that porridge could have had something to do with the poisoning so a certainly lots of details are going around with people expecting answers more information really keeping the narrative of the story going while yet of course we're wait wait ing to see any official findings including from the organization for the prosecution of chemical weapons and from a u.s. crew probably get like i said herself who is said to have regained consciousness and certainly people are waiting to see what she will have to say. despite there being no evidence presented to back up london's claim some countries and organizations have quickly sided with the u.k. by expelling russian diplomats nato is no exception ordering seven russian diplomatic staff to leave its headquarters rhesus deputy foreign affairs minister and former permanent representative to nato told us see things the script was likely devised to boost military spending. i think this whole script case was

concocted to prepare public opinion for the ever increasing amounts of money being spent on the military at present the military budgets of european nato members put together to approximately two hundred seventy billion if they achieve the two percent target that some will come to four hundred billion that would be ten times more than russia's military budget. obviously such whopping amounts of money being spent on the military are liable to be the subject of heated public debate to make sure this goes down well you need the image of an enemy and a powerful one at that so it's crystal clear that this huge provocation that was carried out by the u.k. was intended to achieve this goal which is to add fuel to the flames of recent phobia which has recently begun to peter out as people are simply got tired of it having expelled russian diplomats nato is soaring off the branch they're sitting on as it were i can't believe they don't realize that in this turbulent time

a sense of the police who are out in force this is the gendarmerie and the c.r.'s who are here to try and stop the demonstrators from going down streets and not meant to we've already seen clashes from those at the front of the demonstration they appear to be members of the anti father or the black boxes they known here in france has been smashing up business is throwing bottles at the police and setting the lights have been saying what you see normally from these guys is they try to have as much provocation to the police of the c.r.'s as possible and then we see obviously the c.r.'s returning that in kind sometimes it's a gas no tear gas as of yesterday but we are expecting things to stay heated now as if you can see in the background there is a large group behind me this is the front of the crowds many of them have their faces covered because they don't want people to be able to identify them in fact

when we were trying to film some of the devastation that they were cool saying just in the last half an hour they physically came up and stopped just from filming and told us we were not to film anybody breaking all damaging any businesses until they had finished and fled the scene this is of course meant to be a strike by the ensigns yet this is the way it works here in france also efforts to offer on strike as well as some other elements of society that they're unhappy with my plans to change to create the the railways here in front. saying that the proposed by americans government will lead to the privatization of the rail government has no right that in fact so yes the strikes i'm going today this is the first day of the six days of strike between now and the end of june this is a huge fight between the unions to decide whether the union still have the kind of power to see to this here in france and of course to terminations to push through

his policy for the moment this is yet another violent protest with clashes between the protesters at the front and also the c.r.s. the police here in france from the scene of those protests in paris our correspondent in europe to do the school thank you. fight fake news that's the mission statement of the largest local broadcasting corporation in the united states and it's requiring its presenters to read out a scripted message to back that up the single player group which is known for its conservative stance was almost two hundred stations right across america and it sent out a memo telling us presenters to read a statement during the news programs the script attacks the quote troubling trend of the responsible one sided news stories plaguing our country is how it looked the sharing of biased and false news here you can call to comment on those who.

spicy with irish that's the assumption many in the west make about russian media fully controlled broadcast with angers and correspondent forced to read a pre-prepared scripts no details left to chance so much of it is state funded after all but in the us where so many channels are corporate owned it must be different right the sinclair broadcast group which owns almost two hundred television stations and broadcast on around six hundred channels proudly proclaims in its mission statement that it provides stories that make a difference the key to our success is concentrated says one alert protecting them . on all platforms well and its recent promos there is not much of a choice or a difference it seems the sharing of biased and false news you can call to comment on the social media. recently you are going through with the first unfortunately the summers and receive the. general
