a great month for redesigned s.u.v.s like the jeep compass and my favorite the lincoln navigator and the g.m.c. terrain and what's behind that lauren well obviously new designs and this was needed by many of the manufacturers the top increase for the month of march was volvo they brought out the x e forty they had big sales on the x c sixty which was the north american utility vehicle of the year and of course they're bringing out wagons and sedans so bulls really change their whole product line and their whole initiative and then also land rover which we all know is a very popular vehicle but they've brought their price point down to that thirty five thousand dollars range and they also have incentives and then on top of that you also got jeep and so jeep has really come on strong so you get a landrover for thirty five grand basic right now your sign on it and the land rover discovery will get you in at that price point of course you can bring it well into the three hundred thousand dollars range which is what we saw at the new york auto show was going to ask you that anything else interesting at the auto show

that's going on right now right right the mere thought of shows going on right now one of the hype things you're going to see is a lot of s.u.v.s and a lot of crossovers not a lot of green cars because really the overall sales are about one point seven percent which is quite light will get the real numbers before the week is out and what total electric vehicles and hybrids actually were they are going to be on the softer side cost of gasoline is down and people want room they want roomy cars that fit their families and the hot cars that are there were things right along the you would think the lincoln aviator which is a product coming out in the near future you get the new key a sedona the new new sorento every single manufacturer was bringing out some form of an s.u.v. or a redo because that's where the money is and you certainly don't want to be left behind in that case now that's something you mentioned the aviator lincoln may be a bit smaller than the navigator it was not around a few years ago is that one they're bringing back. right there getting away from those three letter acronyms that are really her m k s m k x people find that very

frustrating just tell me what it is it's a navigator and by the way they can't keep navigators on the lot they're making them as fast as they can there's a six day turnaround which is really really short in this industry which means they make them and they're sold by the time they hit the lot the aviator won't come out till the end of the year it will look just like the navigator smaller and it's all about beauty and that silence you get when you're inside your vehicle and i know lincoln they're going to do it right you know let me ask you in general about these sorts about the s.u.v.s and these larger vehicles it is part of it because gas prices are fairly stable you are not low but there are you know two fifty ish nationwide right now and that not four dollars is that one thing behind it or is it people who want to make the purchases before interest rates rise too fast or what your take well it's actually both the cost of fuel is low so people are incentivized to buy s.u.v.s city and just aren't popular right now the second

largest category after all that crossover vehicles which would be like c.v.s. and s.u.v.s pickup trucks are still hot still the number one slave vehicle right now is pickup trucks actually has been for for over forty years and the top selling vehicle over all of them is always the ford f one fifty it's held that rain for a very long time like i said over forty years i think thing is i have a lot of friends and you probably do too they have four or five kids you cannot do that in a city and you need to have three rows and if you've got two kids like when i have two kids they always want to bring a friend with them so people want to transport people with them and have a good time and be family and moving to do that is either a minivan which are kind of not that popular right now away again which are getting more popular like the jaguar sport break and then you're also looking at large s.u.v.s they're super popular and you'll be surprised including on the luxury line i want all that luxury i want all that space i want that utility the performance the tech now. ology to safety and so easy to put it in a very large vehicle then trying to cram it into some small vehicle that doesn't

meet your family's needs this route real quick this answer is the camry still the number one you talked about the f one fifty the truck is the camry camry still the number one car being sold in the us you know the reason the cameras the number one selling cars because they sell so much to the fleets so whether it's hertz or avis all the rental car companies you will always see the toyota camry selling to fleets were one hundred core their direct competitor does not sell fleet cars and so that's the difference in the sales numbers and they have quarter unfortunately isn't selling where it should be but sedans just are popular selling series so people they make what people want let me ask you one quickly we've only got a little bit of time tesla they've had some bad memo jammo recently with the death of an autonomous car driver in a test vehicle and those one hundred twenty three thousand cars which you had corroding bolts and they have a recall on that but their stock took a dive on monday they came back a little bit on tuesday what's going on with them lauren ok when it comes to tesla
9:35 pm
first off the model x. that had the accident there was only five seconds that they were able to prove that the driver did have his hands on the steering wheel the national traffic safety board is investigating they're also very unhappy that tesla released that information to consumers before they had a chance to do their investigation and besides at that there are no black boxes on tesla so whatever information they're getting they're getting whatever that data is coming from their autopilot system which is by the way knacked and not tied in this car and that's what they were selling it on that's going to be an ugly situation and plus the fact they can't produce level three says quick as they like when you learn musk is sleeping on the production floor yes he is on the production floor all night long and they're working three shifts not producing model x. not producing my less just the model threes and they still didn't make those numbers they're in trouble i don't know what the future is a lot of the financial companies out there are saying this might be the end of tesla you might go down the road of de lorean. well we'll keep watching it and

sky tracks and based on millions of survey responses there's no usa pulls in the world's top ten and denver international bill tonight. nine hundred ninety five is the first one on that list in the twenty eight position the real problem however is that with the explosion of people traveling many airports are operating beyond their design capacity so we have a situation where the airports are crowded they're basically bursting at the seams and they're. looking to see traffic is increasing over there in the coming years over and beyond but there are already handling so there's definitely a need. to improve america's infrastructure according to the department of transportation a record nine hundred sixty five million a line passengers flew in the united states last year that's a three point four percent increase over twenty sixteen and more passengers mean

more dollars in fact the federal aviation administration calculated that in twenty fourteen civil aviation generated one point six trillion dollars and supported around ten point six million jobs and not just any jobs because a lot of the jobs that are done at an airport especially when we talk about aircraft maintenance and in other areas you know airport management these are high tech jobs these are jobs that pay very good incomes each employee who is a highly paid skilled worker you know he's going to be part of a chain of a whole bunch of other workers along the way so having a good airport having a well maintained. may get favorable destination is one of the best things you can do for a community the f.a.a. also estimates that the national cost of a poll congestion is expected to rise to thirty four billion in twenty twenty before going on to sixty three billion by twenty forty of current funding levels.
