and moving to markets and more from a week ago although from tuesday we saw the dow down five days in a row and that had taken place since march of last year twenty seventeen nasdaq also had four down days and on tuesday we saw a massive selloff in the u.s. and u.s. markets and things seem to have been back on track although these market moves are pretty tough to predict earlier i spoke with the name of islam who joined us from lithuania i ask him about markets the ongoing trade war and china and leadership changes at deutsche bank plus kryptos name says bit quaint is a crypto religion index check it out. james thanks for being with us again we sure appreciate what you think's going on. thanks for having me as always what is going on is basically riley in the equity market is deflating that's pretty much it

because that optimism. around the investment community has faded altogether its policies now it's the policies of the federal reserve which are making because all of that and now the market is waking up to high concept that if you higher interest rates are going to have an engine on the corporate earnings and we knew that the corporate putting my still strong i'm not weak by any money because we have. the street. but i think now they can think that coming up with a higher interest rate the fans won't be able to go back and start doing that share buyback program at a lower cost. than in so many different ways and less wrong to look at by what trump is doing or his policies. and how they are aimed at the not positive needs now they have a more at best impact on the market but in general i don't want to scare. investor
11:34 am
community out that i still think that the u.s. is that really strong market in the long that i think we are entering that bad market territory we already have and i think this could continue throughout the course of the next sum up over the next three to four months so let me ask you i mean do you think there is some residual resonance in markets outside of the u.s. from the u.s. . president policies and what he's talking about and while you're at it go ahead and comment on the continuing trade war that we seem to be engaged in. b.s.p. show i think trade for is just nothing but it is us and no other country were it literally with knights and now the biggest problem is that when you see that are you inviting to be put st and so you know it will be a balancing that one everyone is thinking educate the straight tyree of see if they
11:35 am
get it going to impact the g.d.p. of china and if you look at the debt to g.d.p. ratio over in china that has just gone one way six forty two as the up side and these terrorist with a trade war is going to have an more advice impact on that and china one of the biggest drafters used to what that would happen so i think again the i.m.f. warning today in relation to that is very important i mean best as are paying attention so tariffs trade was nothing is good when it comes to gotten picture. you know we have seen some e.u. banks reporting their q one earnings in the last several days in particular barclays in santan there but let's talk about a major changing of the guard at deutsche bank germany's largest lender which has seen three years of straight losses and their share price has fallen by roughly twenty five percent this year alone the previous c.e.o. john cryan is out and christian center when the former bank code deputy is in what

do you think mr sharing this experience will bring he's come from the research retail side of the banking endeavor there is he going to help d.b. get out of the problems. i think we've seen this story over and over in the banking act and we don't have to go too far we can just look at what happened with. the pretty much the same story happening or that i think the news the city is going to look at the entire cost structure and he's going to say i'm not getting much benefit in these so it's time for me to pull out of these markets and we're going to focus more on the cole said and remember he's the guy as you correctly mention is coming within the countries that he doesn't understand the company about evolve but mike and is that yes the talk is all the internal people but they also need a knowledge from someone external so we kind of a lag the last thing but in terms of a buy you play or in fact is i think there is
11:37 am
a lot of value with the n.b.a. because there's still a strong company forget about the twenty five or the salad bowl how we are on the i think d.b. in the longer it's a strong buy and this is a very good buy you express you many other investment banks. very interesting before we go let's move to crypto you are one of the few people and i appreciate it that our look at markets but are also willing not just talk about equities but talk about kryptos so how are they doing i noticed you were pretty positive recently on on ripoll where do you see ripple and bitcoin for example headed in the not too distant future. thank you appreciate that i would say that if you understand the technology base coin as i said in my last article is the religion right so it has a massive move to get to as the uk site i do not think that the recent sell off
11:38 am
shoots scaring the masses off i think the recent sell out is creating an opportunity even if you look at the o.t.c. balling him if you see that two of the at the developer community they are very happy to buy at a discount rate of more than sixty six to sixty seven percent but we have come a long way from five thousand one hundred loath to back to you know testing that ten thousand and i'm going to put an article very shortly on that one with respect to ripple if we see and the bull wrong in the crude to market yes with corn is a related but ripple would count higher rate than watt because ripple is something that anyone can everyone can come up with can come and then they can participate that bit coin you have to have a bigger pocket you have to dig deep inside that so big point was stay at an as an index yes i said it as an index so that's that's the concept that's a well
11:39 am
a joke i will say but i think in terms of me restaurant revoke was sad to see that and the team is doing incredible job in terms of integration i have been to many of their parties over in asia and met several different country managers where they are working with the regional banks to create the integration. very interestingly and it seems to me that you know you have if if bitcoin takes off than you know other currencies like ripple and others like coin a theory and will probably follow suit i wonder whether or not there would be one of the crypt those. would go ahead and break out of the box separate from bitcoin but we're going to have to leave that for another time i hope you'll come back to talk kryptos for a whole segment name a slum the chief market analyst at think markets thank you so much for being with us. thank you for having me. and time now for

candidate donald trump back in twenty sixteen. the restaurant chain subway after closing more than eight hundred stores last year will close an additional five hundred locations across the united states this year but at the same time the sandwich company will expand restaurant worldwide the grand plan is for subway to add more than one thousand locations around the globe with a focus on mexico the united kingdom china and india india a subway spokesperson said that over the next ten years the restaurant chain will have a slightly smaller but more profitable footprint in the north america and a slightly larger footprint in the rest of the world it may surprise some to learn that with more than forty thousand current locations globally all owned by fright franchisees subway is the largest restaurant chain in the world even beating out mcdonald's and starbucks. and french billionaire vincents ball or a mogul of the n.d.

transport monopoly was formally placed under investigation after being questioned for two days by french of forty's bowler a has been dubbed the king of africa because of his extensive holdings on the continent now financial crimes investigators are trying to determine if voss agitate the how boss ad agency which controls effectively contributed to the election campaigns of presidents of togo and guinea by under billing them for services in exchange for port management contracts with the ball or a company. and here's the natural gas and more is rick rule of sprott us holdings rick thank you for being with us the federal energy regulatory commission has decided to investigate whether or not it needs to update its pipeline approval policies as we all know pipelines like dakota access have been met with some criticism and
11:46 am
justifiable in my view if you happen to do something like you know live there but do you think the first policies need any update. i do i think it's good that a large american bureaucracy at least feels the need to review its status and its point of view particularly in an industry that is a as important as natural gas and be one that has changed as much as natural gas has in the last ten years so i applaud furred for at least their efforts at introspection yeah well you don't find that in government too often so i agree with you a good thing to look even if they don't change i think there probably are some changes needed nat gas as you say it's an important component of our energy portfolio about a little over a third now last i heard but what do you what do we export and what do we import in the way of natural gas well i think on a net basis we're a net exporter there are parts of the country as an example the u.s.
11:47 am
northwest where it's still efficacious to import canadian gas the prior big u.s. import market was of course the u.s. northeast but the advent of production from the marcellus shale is meant that the big it has meant that the biggest importing region of the united states has in fact developed a guest surpluses it internally so on a net basis on a balance basis we are a gas exporter in addition to that increasingly we are using low priced natural gas to produce products at home things like basic chemicals that are produced from hydrocarbons natural gas and in addition to exporting raw gas and compressed natural gas we are beginning to export commodity commodity products there are made from our own domestic natural gas. rick can you give us just a brief summary of what's going on in markets today. sure with
11:48 am
the cabbie out that there isn't one broad market the natural gas market is a global market made up of many small markets but in a broad sense there are a couple things that are important the first is probably that the shale revolution on a global basis but mostly in the u.s. has meant that prior concerns about a scarcity of natural gas have disappeared so people are less afraid to use natural gas in industrial and power generating processes that's the most important thing that's happened second thing in god with people at m i'm sorry keep going i'm sorry second thing yeah the second most important thing at least from my point of view has been that the increase in alternative energy technologies primarily wind and solar while it's attractive is intermittent and the ability to use natural gas to generate electricity during periods of time when the sun doesn't shine night as an
11:49 am
example or the wind doesn't blow is the only thing that makes those alternative energy technologies really appropriate to a broad based grid and the advent of. alternative energy sources has really been made possible by natural gas the third is of course natural gas as a substitute for things like coal and thermal oil in a lower carbon environment but the truth is it would seem that industrial applications of gas have come into really perfect harmony with the new technologies that are increasing the of the ill ability of it. rick we thank you so much for your time that's rick roll of sprott us holdings we hope you'll come back. there's been a move back to rural america after a decade of population growth to urban areas particularly to sun belt states some long declining small towns and farming and manufacturing counties are heating up
11:50 am
and adding people as population growth in large cities cools according to census estimates but where are the people in rural america living here discusses debbie boyd a mortgage specialist and c.e.o. of deal b. financial services we thank you so much for joining us again and your time with some steady improvements in world economies and rural counties gaining population for the first time since two thousand and some city folks are headed back to the country less populated areas given the recovering housing markets what will would be homebuyers find in rural america well they're going to find a much better product much more affordable housing why don't side the city limits there's also a lot of loan programs u.s.d.a. is a great big loan program that actually has one hundred percent financing that means the buyers don't have to put any money down if they meet certain requirements and the main requirement is to be in the county areas so it gives a rural population somewhere to go the inner cities are getting so expensive
11:51 am
they're really having a lot of the older neighborhoods it's just too expensive for first time homebuyers and like you say it's really the it's the it's the counties that are contingent to those large area counties u.s.d.a. used to work work there and it's counties with populations below ten thousand and so it's those sort of collar counties right what are some of the hot spots are around the country. well you know there are so many especially and texas you know we have the equivalent of a seven forty seven landing in d.f.w. airport and everybody in that plane is moving to dallas every single day so that's a lot of people dallas city proper doesn't have room for that so it's the areas it's the sheilas bedford it's the las colinas area that used to be were all america that's now just like the city there is no difference there's just a sign separating it it's all highways it's all new housing areas great vine area
11:52 am
north of dallas is just the metroplex has blown up and so is houston so is austin a lot of people want to come to texas it's our environment down here you know so much expansion around the world in the u.s. it's exciting to see all of the businesses and shopping growing and everything it's a pretty amazing how about markets housing markets in general debby we see interest rates going up the fed just increased rates we expect maybe two or three other rate increases this year are our home buyers saying they've got to buy now are they still waiting around. the only ones that are really raging around are the ones that are trying to get their qualifying in order they've got to lower their debt pay off some credit cards you know people still carry a lot of debt on credit cards or student loans are killing a lot of our first time homebuyers so you know they're the ones that are waiting everybody wants to move now the problem is there's a shortage of homes that are in that early first time home buyer area and that doesn't give them
11:53 am
a lot of choices that pushes them out of the suburbs but people want to buy now the best deals though are not now the best deals are going to be in the fall in the winter of next year what doesn't sell over the summer but then your interest rates are going to be more so my suggestion is buy now find a home now get settled move in and get on with your life the rates are only going to go higher and as far as prices you talked about the fall being maybe a better time is that the case all across the country because of school or is it less so perhaps in areas where you are in the sun belt states. now i think it's everywhere so if you have school lage children you know school starts the beginning of september end of august all across the country and those people need to be settled so people that are taking job transfers they're going to be moving in the summer and they've got to get the kids ready to go to school you don't want to start the school year after it starts if you can help from it just easier on the family and the kids so i'll a lot of that movement but whatever doesn't sell in the summertime months are going to be sitting there on the market then september through next march when the market
11:54 am
starts again so that's when you can get a lot of people people have to leave with their jobs and move to a new city some people are taking two house payments on it that part of the their life nobody wants to house payments so then they lower the prices on their old house and that frees that those to be a bigger bargain then they were in the summer when they were trying to get top dollar debbie you were so kind i know you travel from rural america to come visit with us but we sure appreciate it debbie boyd the c.e.o. of deal b. financial services thank you as always for your time thank you thanks for having me . and before we go college basketball within the national collegiate athletic association the n.c.a.a. dominated headlines during the course of the regular season with the ongoing f.b.i. investigation into corruption this time college basketball is in the headlines for

a different reason there's a laundry list of sweeping reforms on how to fix issues within the sport specifically the independent commission on college basketball which includes former secretary of state congolese or rice has released their recommendations on fixing the one and done issue which is where student athletes play college basketball for only a year during their freshman year and then they declare for the n.b.a. draft the problem is a large part of the culture of prominent college basketball programs like duke university of kentucky and the university of north carolina and ca president mark emmert believes these changes would be better for the game. the primary thrust of their recommendations is all about trying to strengthen to preserve a college level college sports day coincidentally and importantly also said there he's to be a career path for people who simply want to be a professional basketball player the shortest needs to be available and changes to
