can you watch international this wednesday the nine. pm here in moscow now russia is celebrating victory day marking the defeat of nazi germany this day marks the seventy third anniversary of the end of the great patriotic war which claimed the lives of over twenty six million soviet. well there is hardly a family in russia that wasn't affected by the wall almost everybody has grandparents aunts uncles or other relatives who force against the nazis and especially march of the so-called immortal regiment is held every year in their own a and it's about to get underway at mosco right now in fact it has just started so let's get the latest from that shocking video joins us now from central moscow where people have just become much as we can say jackie just tell us more about
7:02 am
this event. plus you mentioned earlier today is the seventy third anniversary of the victory of the soviet union over nazi germany and the people that you can see behind me are gathering to commemorate those that fell during the war now you can see quite a bit of people but this really is only a small section of the number that are gathered here today and they're carrying portraits of their relatives that died during the war and while it's obviously a tender moment for many people here you can hear the cheers going by. we've been hearing this every few minutes it's a really celebrate story mood here and you can hear cheers going waving up and down the line you hear it for about five or six seconds before it actually gets right by me where we're standing and continues on for another five or six seconds you can only imagine how many people are actually here participating in the walk today of course almost every family in russia lost someone in what they called the great
7:03 am
patriotic war and so it's a very tender and personal day for them here many millions and millions went off to the front lines of more maybe some seven letters home many never returned to. do much on the chemo we're writing to you some even look young. it's the best comedy in arms we had in our battle. soldiers and commanding officers left thought the german invaders like a true russian hero it destroyed many enemies with this guy on august sixteenth at seven thirty am he fell to an enemy but. died here doing his duty defending. the entire battery very soldiers commanding officer has sworn his grave that they will use their formidable guns to destroy hundreds of thousands of enemy soldiers
7:04 am
on of the memory of their beloved comrade in arms. the immoral regiment started in russia back in two thousand and eleven and actually become a worldwide movement at this point at last year's march here in moscow they estimated about seven hundred fifty thousand people participated and this year they're expecting even more which i wouldn't be surprised if they did top that number you can see families here kids of all ages and there's also veterans participating in the march often i've seen people walk up to the patterns and say thanks or give
7:05 am
them a flower as a sign of gratitude and respect for their service so it really is a beautiful movement and i am feel very lucky to be here today to be a part of part of it. but hey jacqui very place you've got some good weather for it to. force in central moscow well one german family that celebrated moscow today has a special story because during the course of the war their grandfather defected to the soviet side them risked his life a multiple occasions trying to persuade the germans to join the russians. he was always a pacifist against the war and never wanted to join the v.a. max but he had to and from the very start of his juicy he was always looking for an
7:06 am
opportunity to join the other side that he knew from the very beginning that the real aggressor was the v.m. act not the red army. we visited the mud done it this camp immediately after the liberation criminals who are in chimneys corpses pose of shoes we were full of designed to fight the nazis. in us and we would read about it in the german media unfortunately for the young
7:07 am
generation this holiday does not matter much. an amazing story now as we said people are now taking part in the motor regiment march through moscow at the moment but earlier in the day it was the military's turn to pay its respects and also show off its might as the capitol held its annual victory day parade in red square here are some of the highlights. my. own.
7:08 am
but after the victory day parade one that from was literally bowled over after he got too close to president putin and was manhandled by security you can see it unfold here the president though was quick to react coming straight over to the veteran to offer him his hand the veteran then accompany. as he was heading to the tune of the unknown soldier to lay flowers. now one of the most horrific events during the war was the siege of leningrad now some. the city was completely surrounded by germans in one nine hundred forty one the blockade lasted eight hundred and seventy two days in claimed the lives of up to one and a half million people all major supply routes were cut off with only one exception
7:09 am
7:10 am
below we walked we had a new year's celebration on the truck in the car play such arrests on the benches and gave each one of us the command to open with an amazing fruit i don't think i had ever eaten and wonderful he's new. to your local absolutely when i grew up around it i find out of my mandarin was brought to me by a mixture of very good doctors a whole that was illiterate wasn't just hold it was a whole world from a nazi coughlan's for.
7:11 am
so it stays obviously a very significant day in history but we went to the streets of london new york and also paris to check the state of knowledge of passes by about the war and their own says were sometimes surprising. canada no. united states germany. germany loss you mean what you call now the european union except for germany doesn't count with their. united states britain all their allies england america from russia russia actually neuer to be after lots more does need a laugh close. yes and again you turn the belgian effect obviously the allies defeated the germans out i say person frogs america the americans.
7:12 am
supporting nazi germany russia was part of the axis they were part of the axis but they were aligned with hitler i guess russia supporter germany and then they essentially lost the war through war through a series of sieges sieges i think at leningrad and sound. of extending. it up which is good to. you it was an annoyance when it all those tickets or the crew can feel the guy says i didn't mean tell me. about oh. yeah you know you had a soviet union they were and they were also on the vicks on the winning side i mean it hadn't been for the germans attacking the soviet union we probably lost before.
7:13 am
how many times more deaths were there from russia than from the united states. sorry times. didn't get any recognition from what i understand now you know way more than twenty million. of. the media millions is a massive amount. i think twenty five million or something. so when you world war two you don't think of russia. when i know i don't really think of world. war two stay with r.t. for our special coverage of the events and celebrations to you throughout the day this year marks the seventy third anniversary of the defeat of nazi germany and the end of the great patriotic war.
7:14 am
now in other news today president trump has announced the america's withdrawal from the iran nuclear deal we'll have all the reaction to that just after the break. join me every thursday on the alex i'm i'm sure i'll be speaking to guest of the world of politics or business i'm show business i'll see you then. the way is anti american and anti-democratic and we can look at that quite plainly by understanding the stock price approach or have it was never split so it's trading i think there are three hundred thousand dollars a share so the message from charlie munger and warren buffet's americans is unless you've got three hundred thousand dollars to buy one share of berkshire hathaway
7:15 am
you're a player you're a peasant here you know they are the neo feudal lords that are building the system milking the system abusing the system and aggregating wealth as raunchy a coupon clippers and nickel and dime are they add nothing to the economy. welcome back to the now u.s. president donald trump is making good on his threats by pulling at the iran nuclear deal to reimpose tough sanctions. i am announcing today that the united states will withdraw from the iran's nuclear deal the agreement
7:16 am
to restrict iran's nuclear energy program the crowning achievement of the obama white house has finally been terminated by the donald today's action sends a critical message the united states no longer makes empty threats when i make promises i keep them but how much impact is this really having only one country the united states is withdrawing and the ryann doesn't seem particularly worried but i have ordered the ministry of foreign affairs to negotiate with and lobby the european countries as well as russia and china and to carry out the necessary qward nation with them russia and china are ready to keep things going as it is so are key allies of the united states and the european union and european union is the tournament to preserve it we expect the rest of the international community to continue to do its part to that and see that it continues to be fully implemented but to say own collective security together with the test of the
7:17 am
international community we will preserve this nuclear deal now this isn't the only global decision the trumpet ministration has made to be met with chirping crickets remember when the usa moved its embassy to jerusalem other than paraguay and guatemala the rest of the world was not exactly clamoring to follow suit and remember one trump pulled out of the paris climate change accords well the other one hundred ninety five countries that have signed on they frowned at washington for a minute and then they moved on as if nothing had happened the chords remain exactly the same so once again we've got a big drum roll in fanfare from the white house but with the rest of the world refusing to go along is washington's global leadership really all it's cracked up to be everyone now recognizes that it's the united states that is that is unreliable and i'm trust. worthy and they can be trusted even to abide by its own commitments the rives. they're not going to be hurt as much as they would have been
7:18 am
if the united states had implemented agreement so the iranians have been dealing with sanctions on a daily basis for years now and they've learned how to circumvent those sanctions and what the united states is doing is it's basically pushing these countries closer to each other even u.s. allies like european union countries because when mark on the german chancellor merkel go to the united states and are completely ignored. and reporting there will russia which is also a participant of the deal signed back in twenty fifteen has expressed concern over the u.s. abandoning its obligations under the joint agreement and its plan to impose further sanctions one of the main champions of the scrapping of the nuclear agreement besides trump has been used to writing prime minister benjamin netanyahu who as we heard earlier is in moscow to meet vladimir putin he recently gave a theatrical powerpoint presentation decrying the deal netanyahu has praised trump's decision israel has opposed the nuclear deal from the start because we said
7:19 am
that rather than blocking the iran spur to a bomb the deal actually proves you wrong to an entire arsenal of nuclear bombs israeli influence is absolutely key here trump cited netanyahu is kind of used cars the salesman style presentation in order to justify withdrawing from the iran deal and his new policy overall back and you know first of all we have to recognize netanyahu introduced nothing new in his presentation the intelligence was arguably fabricated that netanyahu it introduced that trump cited it's another intelligence scam driving us to war well with the with other signatories vowing to fulfill their obligations despite the u.s. is it through let's take a quick look back now at how the green mint was first. it took nine years of talks numerous attempts and was even days of meetings.
7:20 am
we're speaking. the e.u. us russia china and iran had to overcome their trust issues. are racist but they believe it was even possible. to be able to destroy and yet it happened a diplomatic breakthrough a true success after a decade long standoff in. one country to what was happening i think this is a bad bad bad. deal for a while he was the one on the zone until the new guy came to the white house is the worst deals i've ever seen and the disaster is still one of the dumbest details one of the worst deals ever heard was the iran deal i'm all for agreements but that was
7:21 am
a bad one first came decertifying the deal we cannot and will not make this certification the e.u. took it personally president of the united states as many posts not this one from twenty even further threatening to pull out of the day altogether i fear total terminations that's a very real possibility some would say that's a greater possibility israel was jubilant but they're trying to bamboozle the entire world and birdland the president well enough without the e.u. trying to knock some sense into trump with france germany and the u.k. sending their top guys to try and change his mind the president has been right to call attention to it but you could do that without just throwing the baby out with the bathwater nine years of talks a diplomatic breakthrough. a true success was it all for nothing. so there is just over a month to go until football's biggest event kicks off here in russia and legendary

i have to admit that ice hockey is up there even as the climate is a you can skate. as you just see i'm not able to skate i leave that to all of these guys these days but it's getting pretty. the ice hockey wasn't a great success for me so i found a driving range of come out here it's again a little bit of silva specked back and i'd recommend now in between games come out here. you've got to brace yourself though it's a bit of a bumpy ride but once your head's nice.
7:27 am

7:29 am
supplanted by the right to access education. high education is becoming just another product that can be bullish and sold but it's not just about education anymore it's also about running a business and what you. could to me. is the place of students in this business model for college i was now in an extremely high education the new global economic war. gratings and salyut age. you know the united states navy just can't seem to stay out of the headlines this week watchers first there was lasers now it's the second fleet you remember them the fleet that used to guard the picturesque u.s.

eastern seaboard and protect the north atlantic from those evil soviet submarines during the heady days of the cold war the fleet was finally disbanded back in two thousand and eleven to save a couple bucks since the days of hunt for red october repeatedly thought to be relegated to the pages of history books and fiction well. much like hollywood it appears the us military industrial complex is fresh out of new ways to squeeze money out of its citizens so why not just stop and reimagine old ones yes the us second is coming back according to the chief of naval operations admiral john richardson the second plea will be reactivated and resume operations out of norfolk virginia july the first right in time for the united states to celebrate its independence day and why why why why why are we bringing back the second fleet you ask well here's a hint starts with r. and.
