out of the iran nuclear deal that really has soured relations between some of europe's leading leaders if you will and deliver call said just this week that europe was at a crossroads when it came to its relationship with the us it certainly seems if it continues down this route it's a route that doesn't bring washington or brussels closer together donald trump is testing the patience of the european union and the u.s. needs to understand another part of the international community and they call just throw their weight around as they've been doing and expects everybody to fall into line donald trump has as damaged relations is no doubt about that bought. clear that the e.u. are prepared to stand up to him now until august they have to raise advisors will have to reflect on where they go now hopefully it will be a wake up call for the whole trump and you know he will start to see sense but if he doesn't there is a real danger the so i was still for. italy is euro skeptic

parties have come up with a plan to quit the single currency and write off most of the country's national debt well that's according to a leaked document from the five star movement and the league which are seeking to build a coalition government r.t. show to do and has the details. many people see these two parties who are from the left and the right side of the political spectrum as being quite radical parties they're anti establishment they're anti e.u. and already that leaked document and it's details of course some jitters on the stock market with many investors selling off their italian assets when those leaks were put online so what's in the document what's causing this vexation they want to leave the single currency that would mean quitting the euro they also want the european central bank to write off some of italy's debts with two hundred and fifty billion euros they also talk about russia and relations with the country between

russia and the e.u. saying that they want to scrap the sanctions that are currently in place against russia and want to see russia as being a trading partner and not a threat and also quite crucially they want to revise the e.u. migration rules that currently exist which means that migrants have to apply for permission to stay in the first country that they set foot on well we have had confirmation from the five star movement that this document is authentic but we've been told that it isn't all document and there have been revisions since that was dated on may fourteenth however we are aware they've told r.t. that there is a final agreement that's already been put in the new agreement on russia but we don't know the wording of that yet but one certainly to watch out for given the tensions between the european union and russia so why is there anxiety about

these two parties coming together is seen as being anti establishment and some fear that the suggestion that these two parties could form a governing coalition in in italy could actually threaten and destabilize the euro zone if you think about it italy is one of the three crew. members of the resume including france and germany and if you think of it as being a three legged stool if you take one of those legs away then it could just completely collapse all around and that's what many people fear will happen with these two parties if they come together but let's be clear they haven't yet released a final document they still working on that they want to form this governing coalition so that italy doesn't face fresh elections that there still seems to be some sticking points before that government can be formed. and political scientist lorenzo probably ask those things if the deal is implemented it could cause a political shake up across europe think the key thing to here will be. the

actual action of the government will be if a government is in place with this platform so rather than the words written in the agreement i think we'll have to see whether this government. actually starts starts governing starts running the country and which policies it actually tries to put into action so this could have an impact on other countries both in terms of the rhetoric towards europe and in terms of specific actions. a new report by german media suggests berlin obtained decades ago and shared it with its allies the nerve agent was used in the poisoning of former spies circus rebel and his daughter yulia in the english city of salzburg the u.k. blames russia for the attack claiming it was the only country possessing the substance artie's probably boyko has more on the latest developments. the headline grabbing revelation in this german media report is that the german intelligence

the syrian government has agreed to meet u.n. officials to discuss a new constitution for the water and country that announcement was made after talks between presidents bashar al assad and flooded near putin in southern russia artie's in as more. first of all nobody knew about the speed for an evening announcement by vladimir putin's spokesman so in the last six months the leaders of russia and syria met three times twice here and sought she and once in syria and in all cases nobody doubts that the rendezvous was happening in advance now this time they were talking about fighting terrorism and also for their political steps to end the syrian civil war most notably lot of our putin said that he is expecting syria to be completely free of all foreign armed forces the syrian

president bashar assad said that he will send a delegation to the u.n. to become a part of the so-called constitutional committee and geneva it was at the syrian national dialogue congress here in saatchi that the delegates a few months ago first came up with the idea to create this new u.n. mechanism the constitutional committee was meant to get everyone on board the syrian government and as many elements of the syrian opposition as possible but previously damascus refused to take part obviously the goal is to reform the syrian constitution well it seems on thursday here and tsotsi a lot of our putin convinced bosh are assad to change his mind. some african countries have long promoted themselves to safari holiday destinations catering to one off trap. like this one.

his predecessors but in a presidential tweet monday mr trump pledged to rescue controversial chinese telecom giant z.t. easing the company's failure would cost too many jobs in china what's behind the president's decision let's talk about that with chris lew who served as white house cabinet secretary and deputy secretary of labor during the obama administration and he's now assumed the university of virginia number center he joins us from washington d.c. chris on wednesday president trump tweeted that his reversal on the chinese companies e t e pertains to a large a trade deal and the accuse the washington post and c.n.n. of writing false stories about his negotiations with china what do you make of that well i'm not sure what to make of it and i think a lot of people in washington and around the world are scratching their head let's
2:51 am
recall this was all started by a tweet from the president himself saying that he was going to be working with president xi to resolve this is e.t.a. issue and it's a complicated one it has to do with a company a telecommunications companies e t a that was found to have violated the sanctions and having done business with iran and north korea and appropriately the united states took action against this company so it's curious that the president is getting involved in enforcement matter but there are a lot of implications here there's national security there is obviously trade issues and then there's north korea wrapped into all of this i think the president thinks that by resolving the c.t.a. issue which is an important want to the chinese government he can hope to untangle the other disputes that we're in with china but it remains to be seen whether he can do that or not is it confusing to you. it's incredibly confusing to me i mean obviously this is a president who pledged to make. great again he is appropriately taking action

against china for trade imbalances for their theft of intellectual property and now to have done a one eighty on one of the culprits when it comes to. bad trading practices when it comes to potential national security issues i think is puzzling and it's one of the reasons why there has been bipartisan al cry about this matter. is not seen china's demands yet demands could what is that about right you know that the u.s. and the chinese have been involved in trade negotiations over the last couple of weeks and they're trying to ratchet down not only the rhetoric but this escalating series of tariffs that the u.s. is imposing on the chinese goods china in particular is imposing on u.s. agricultural products and i think what the president is trying to do is to figure
2:53 am
out where he is in this negotiations and whether resolving the c.t.e. matter will help resolve these other trade matters but again it's anyone's guess as to how we got into this dispute because it was really started by the president's tweet a couple of days ago before the game president. clinton bit. on c.n.n. on this program and he also always ruled against china the china was reading those that in return knew would change that all around has that changed well look i mean he has taken tough measures or threatened tough measures against the chinese and that's how we are on the brink of what looks to be a trade war and that's what makes this reversal on c.t.e. so curious because it's at such strong odds with not only the rhetoric that trump had during the campaign but really for decades he's been very concerned about the chinese and obviously part of this is north korea as well president trump has.
2:54 am
said that he has a good relationship with the chinese president obviously having a good relationship is critical to reaching a settlement north korea so that's obviously a play here as well. but that a lot of the jobs in the united states of this right yeah i mean he's a large chinese telecommunications company there are many u.s. telecommunications companies technology companies that are suppliers to z.t. so there are jobs that are affected here but relative to the overall u.s. china trade balance it's small i mean what the bigger issue that's at stake right now is the chinese threats to put tariffs on us poor u.s. soybeans and that will have a significant impact on odd farmers in the midwest many of whom are trump supporters. what is north korea's role in all is well look obviously getting the
2:55 am
north korea situation resolved will require not only the cooperation of south korea japan but especially china which is north korea's strongest supporter at this period of time and i think what the president is trying to do is to ratchet down the trade pressures with the chinese in an effort to secure greater cooperation with the chinese with regard to north korea and again so there's many moving pieces in all of this and whether all these pieces can come together is it remains to be unseen at this point remains to be seen at this point now we hear from north korea the not going to discuss doing away with the nuclear weapons do you think this summit is in trouble you know i don't think we know at this point yet but i think people who have observed north korea over the decades have seen this familiar pattern where they seem to make movements towards peaceful resolution of disputes and then they back away at the last minute you know and what we have seen over the
2:56 am
last couple of weeks even as the summit has gotten scheduled is that there still is a dispute between the north koreans and the united states in the south koreans about what it means to have denuclearization of the korean peninsula the likelihood that north korea would give up all of their nuclear weapons i think was not realistic you know and so again you know we're still a couple weeks away from the summit so i think a lot of things can happen between now and then but as kim jong un says that's almost a table that will not be discussed should trump go to the summit. you know look i i i'm one of these people who police their value of talking but i think what can walk at this point is the legitimacy to be seen as a world leader and i think having the u.s. president sitting down with him without having a clear path to moving forward on some of these contentious issues i think is very
2:57 am
dangerous unless there is a genuine one genuine willingness on the part of the north koreans to resolve this denuclearization issue chris is always thank you for your time thank you for having me to summit or not to summit can the united states save the planned summer meeting between donald trump and kim jong un and what political price of any will trump pay for acknowledging reimbursement to attorney michael cohen for the pay off to porn star stormy daniels lots to talk about with my political panel and let's get to it there jose aires demonio former deputy national press secretary of the democratic party he joins us from washington and in new york amy holmes now co-host of the p.b.s. show in principle and a former staffer to seven majority leader bill frist emusic conservative

independent we'll talk midterm soon but first what's going to happen with the summit jose will there be a summit. look i certainly hope there is one larry said this from the very beginning that. it was a mistake from for the president to call this a victory i hope that he happens because we all want. possible talks and we want to make sure that north korea eventually the nuclear crisis but you know we've got to make sure that the president and his team. talk to kim hopefully it happens in june and look him i know be a full denuclearization of the beginning we might have to find a middle ground or a cap on the missiles and such other things so it's tricky north korea's tricky but i've said it from the very beginning it was a mistake for president come to call this a historic deal that was about to happen when in fact there is a lot more diplomacy that needs to happen any mr prime taylor said tuesday he said
2:59 am
when he came back from north korea that they're wonderful are cooperating on everything and then they say the nuclear then the destroy the nuclear weapons is off the table they will not discuss that what do you think's going to happen. well look i think planning a summit with kim jong un was always going to be risky business with my show in principle on p.b.s. we actually interviewed former secretary of defense don rumsfeld and asked him his thoughts and his you know any progress we can make is positive but again when you are trying to negotiate with the dictator of the hermit kingdom there's always going to be risk involved who and what is going to make the difference we need to look at china we need to look at russia and what pressure they may might bring to bear to make this summit happen and of course there is the turret term d nuclear t.v. clearly. the north koreans versus what that means to the rest of the world community
3:00 am
and that all needs to be sorted out but i would like to point out that there seems to be some good cop bad cop going on when it comes to aardman history sion and the way that we're trying to deal with kim jong un you remember donald trump president tweets calling him calling kim jong un a little rocket man and that he's a maniac and he's a madman and at the time trump's critics saying you're to be starting world war three with those tweets well as it turns out kim jong un he understands the schoolyard he understands taught and that might have been kind of a way to break through to him and again play good cop bad cop to get into that negotiating table there's still a lot of time between now and june cross that it doesn't blow up metaphorically so to speak between now and then but any little bit of progress is a good thing and by the way mr rumsfeld will be on the show on politicking next week jose. the bad cop now he is saying i don't want to sit down.
