sorted out but i would like to point out that there seems to be some good cop bad cop going on when it comes to aardman histories and the way that we're trying to deal with kim jong un you remember donald trump president tweets calling him calling kim jong un a little rocket man and that he's a maniac and he's a madman and at the time trump's critics saying you're going to be starting world war three with those tweets well as it turns out kim jong un he understands the schoolyard he understands taught and that might have been kind of a way to break through to him and again play good cop bad cop to get him to that negotiating table there's still a lot of time between now and june thinkers crossed that it doesn't blow up metaphorically so to speak between now and then but any little bit of progress is a good thing and by the way mr rumsfeld will be on this show on politicking next week jose is missing the own the bad cop now he is he is saying i don't want to sit down if you're going to talk about denuclearization as the as the positions
12:01 pm
reversed. yeah look i think i think they have i think we have to remember too to amy's point that there are other players that are part of this negotiations including obviously south korea i really really hope that the summit happens come june i would advice the president to maybe lay off twitter for a little while because those conversations are very sensitive and we have known that the president likes to speak a little too much when it comes to using twitter on social media so it's something that happened but we've got to find. not a middle ground per se but we've got to make sure that we maybe do something step by step we can do my way or the highway type of approach when it comes to north korea we'll be right back with more politicking.

missions that i completed. and i know that i know that for a fact and i know each of these persons was a human being they had a family they had friends they had lives and we ended in the possibilities are endless. days we set of. rules to use and it's a tax on other countries. economic sanctions or are often just the beginning another thing you like to do is play some military pressure on the countries that you're talking about. and there has to be an effort to demonize that country and the leader of that country. we have a responsibility for the whole. week to make rules for the us.
12:04 pm
because without us there will be. politicking continue a discussion with our political panel our guests are jose aristide munyal former deputy national press secretary the ever crowded party he joins us from washington and in new york amy holmes now co-host of t.v.'s show in principle and a former staffer to senate majority leader bill frist ok other subjects on what was a president trying to the audience in financial disclosure forms that he has repeated to me michael cohen as much as two hundred fifty thousand dollars including one hundred thirty thousand paid to stormy daniels amy what's your reaction. so what president trump is coming to agreements
12:05 pm
with women he may have been involved with for them to be discreet they took the money they cashed the check now they want more fame and fortune i think politically this is a nothing sandwich for the president voters knew what they were getting when they voted for him november eighth sixty three million people knew exactly who donald trump was and they made that choice what does this mean in terms for democrats moving forward i would tell them to be very careful about trying to press this is a political matter because polling is showing and the public's reaction to this is it's just it's a sideshow it's a side story you want to get at some sort of federal election commission thing involved here that just seems to be trying to make a mountain out of a molehill president trump we knew he wasn't a saint and he himself would say he was certainly no choirboy the democrats could run a commercial. discussing stormy daniels as that crazy thing and dismissing it and
12:06 pm
saying he didn't know anything about any payoffs could never barrus the president could be used in a campaign absolutely and look i think it should whether the whole stormy daniels scandal will take four front and center come for the midterms no absolutely not i'm a good of americans really want to make sure what are they going to get in terms of health care what are they going to get in terms of their economy their middle class what have you but this is important larry because he plays to the character of the president he's a liar he lies in day in and day out of this white house that's why there scandal after scandal not only the stormy daniels scandal we've got the russian investigation whether there was a section of justice or what have you so yes absolutely this needs to be this is fair game when it comes to comes to politics jose nancy pelosi recently told the boston globe she think democrats will retake the house and she will run for speaker . or her democrats in the midterms i think it would help us nancy
12:07 pm
is an outstanding fundraiser for a party and i think that goes without saying larry that we need also new blood in the party and we have seen that we have won over forty state legislators races since trump became president we won a few important primaries on our side as democrats and we have seen many progressive candidates come out of the primaries so i can tell you that our party continues to reshape itself in accordance to or population of the people that join our party and we should continue to do so i am very optimistic that we can retake the house come november some of the latest polls that i've seen say that we have a little bit of over over six percent lead now we have we got to be careful we got to make sure the democrats mobilize they organize that's the way that we will continue to win come november. but i think i'm very hopeful number one because we have a president that truly doesn't care about the american people and we have seen time
12:08 pm
and time again that republicans who put themselves. close to the president continue to lose elections jose do you agree with palosi when she says impeachment should not be an issue in the campaign races in twenty eighteen i can tell you that the main issue should be like amy was saying immigration the economy health care you know millions of people larry have been losing their insurance their premiums their premiums have been going up because republicans continue to try to sabotage obamacare when they should be trying to improve it we got to remember and this is very important that under the trungpa ministration there advertisement of budget for open enrollment was cut they open enrollment period was cut by half so because they were trying. to confuse the american people so they wouldn't get health care so it's very dangerous and very upsetting and i'm disappointed of the way that the i mean instruction has has come forward and have handled the whole health care
12:09 pm
issue in america and we should the white house apologizing should kelly said keep her job or have to sing about mccain he's dying anyway. that was such a crass and ugly remark for that young woman to make in the white house staff meeting and apparently she promised the mccain mccain family that she would issue a public apology i think she needs to deliver on that promise if you tell people i'm going to let the whole world know that i was sorry for making those remarks about your father dying of brain cancer then i think it's your obligation to do that but i also understand the white house point of view sarah huckabee sanders in saying look whoever leaked this information leaked this remark to the press they weren't just hurting kelly saddler which seem to be their intention they're also hurting the integrity of being able to have staff meetings where people can speak candidly and at the end of the day they're hurting the boss that now the white house is you know being dragged into this because one staffer made this remark in
12:10 pm
a private meeting and another staffer leaked it i don't know if that person had their knives out they've been trying to get this woman fired and this was their opportunity but at the end of the day it doesn't serve their staff and it doesn't serve the president and it doesn't serve the american people but getting back to kerry kelly saddler yes she owes mccain family a public apology just as she promised she would all presidents have said this but this week president trumps we did that leakers are traitors saying leakers are traitors and towers and he'll find out who they are i think every president has said they will find out who the leaders are and i have never heard in my years on earth one leader revealed. well there you remember during the bush years there was you know the manhunt for who leaked the name of the cia operative valerie plame etc scooter libby got in the crosshairs and it turns out he wasn't the leaker it was richard armitage not scooter libby's so these leaks cunts tend to be extremely
12:11 pm
destructive but you know you should be leaking in the first place we saw during the obama years that the leak khan's became quite legal and journalists were in the crosshairs with the obama skinny the obama administration department of justice with with them going after james rosen reporters at the a.p. reporters at the new york times so this thing can actually really snowball and get people involved who were never leaking in the first place jose form a second date rex tillerson in a. in a speech at the commencement address at virginia military institute one of a growing crisis in ethics and integrity in washington talk to the importance of truth and political discourse and insists that a common set of facts was essential to maintaining a free society which he apparently talking about president from. he sure it isn't
12:12 pm
because there's nothing. that comes to the truth when it comes of the way the trumpets handled his presidency he's been lined from day one specially when it comes to the perfect example that he didn't know anything about stormy daniels and the payoff and then all of a sudden he does so he continues to do this back and forward i think the former secretary of state. is basically just saying i feel good type of speech does not represent the coin ministration and of course you're going to talk about truth and fake news right they love to blame the media when they say things that when the media source things that they don't agree with so the american people will judge the president whether he's a liar or not and we will see that come november and we will see that in twenty one and he will he sit down with mr miller well every lawyer in america particularly defense attorneys including alan dershowitz would say that is a terrible idea especially when you know that mr miller is trying to set perjury
12:13 pm
traps far far apart and separate and away from the original mission of the investigation which is did the russians meddle in our election and was there any collusion which by the way is not a legal term but was there any cooperation with the trial campaign so most legal experts would tell you that mr trump sitting down with mr mueller is a very bad idea but getting back to the former secretary of state mr tillerson in his speech perhaps he was talking about the president hard to know he didn't say but he very well could have been talking about james comey or james clapper our former director of national intelligence or for that matter john brennan our former cia director who we are learning every day has not been telling the truth both under oath and to the american people when it comes to the russian vest a geisha in the steel dossier what role that played in opening that investigation all three of those gentlemen have been caught in some pretty serious lies and i think a lot of people are frankly sick of it. jose do you expect democrats to regain the majority in the house i am very confident larry that we can make that happen again
12:14 pm
we've seen the blue wave come in we've been winning elections left and right since mr trump became president i think we can do it but we've got to make sure that every single democrat does not stay at home they come out they mobilize their organize and they and they continue to represent and that we continue to represent the democratic values we move forward i'm very optimistic that we can make it happen but we've got to work for it and media expect the democrats to get back to gun control is an issue. you know i would be surprised if they did but within the democratic party there is you know this tug of war you have the progressive left that wants democrats to run as as the progressive left and as the hash tag resistance anti trump anti trump but then you've also seen other democrats where they have had success in the special elections running away from the progressive left you saw in the pennsylvania special election in alabama those democrats ran as centrist they did not mention nancy pelosi stayed far away from all of that and
12:15 pm
actually did not criticize donald trump as they were trying to gain those you know interest and possibly even center right on the i think it's politicians have to go their own way and me on the other hand there's a strong poll out that young republicans are turned off by john young republicans what do you make of that. you know that doesn't surprise me we saw in the last election cycle in twenty sixteen so many millennial is who love bernie sanders over hillary clinton and then of course in the exit polling democrats did very well with those young voters young republicans i think that there is a lot of conflict there in terms of what does trump represent is he conservative what is trump isn't and donald trump has his own shall we say flamboyant approach to governing that is not necessarily republican so that doesn't surprise me but come this november look it is an uphill battle for republicans historically it's
12:16 pm
against them to be able to maintain control of the house they only have a twenty three seat margin so you know they're going to be fighting you know fighting very hard to keep it to that twenty three but if they lose anything more than that and democrats regain control jose who's your favorite candidate a democrat in twenty twenty. i can't say i have a favorite yet larry but i have a few favorites i think there's a we have a lot of great candidates i really like holy and pastoral cory booker's really great potentially martin o'malley former governor of maryland so there's a few camilla harris was also great so we got a great diverse portfolio so i'm excited to see what happens and media what do you make of this apparent or supposed risk between tense and trump. i think that's pretty overblown i think that we've seen the vice president handle his position very well actually that he seems to understand his role as vice president and he's building up the political infrastructure that he knows how to do we have to
12:17 pm
remember he's a former congressman former governor of indiana he understands a republican party and all the machinery of that very well and putting that machinery to work for the present united states for the midterms and for two thousand and twenty i think there's you know just a lot of water cooler nonsense that goes on in washington and i think we should the best thing to do is wait and see so far the vice president has been a total team player supposin amy thank you so much for joining us on this edition of politicking thank you eric thank you and remember audience you can join the conversation by going on my facebook page or tweeting me at kings things and don't forget use the politicking hash tag and that's all for this edition of politicking .
12:19 pm
show seemed wrong but all roles just don't call. me at all but yet to shape out just because to advocate and engagement equals betrayal. and so many find themselves worlds apart. just a look for common ground. in some american cities the police have built themselves cloying to read each nation people who walk on the streets of the united states who are at risk from the very people who are supposed to protect that poor people are no more afraid of the police than of a criminal as. you can see something happening in this is like i don't want to call the cops let that happen rather than call the cops and in those young black men lose their lives chasing the good with their fingers on the
12:20 pm
trigger you never know better safe than sorry i don't know that someone else is going to pull a gun so yes unfortunately around and around here we end up killing our guns a lot still from such preclusion this place true. was. the former russian spies who was poisoned by in the interim the u.k. over two months ago was discharged from hospital also to come to town r.t. the leader of italy's five star movement officially unveiled a proposed coalition government deal that includes the lifting of sanctions on russia and the european commission distributed never before used legislation
12:21 pm
created over two decades ago to shield european companies from the impact of u.s. sanctions on iran. good afternoon welcome it's two pm here in moscow you're watching r.t. international now the former russian spies who go screw pal who was poisoned by a nerve agent in the u.k. has been discharged from hospital in the stores were admitted on march the fourth after exposure to a substance known as chalk in the city of seoul spree let's get the latest now joins us from our london studios polly good afternoon and what more do we know at this stage. well look after two months despite all the pretty grave medical prognoses surrogates cripple has been discharged from the district hospital the
12:22 pm
hospitals released a statement saying that he and his daughter had been acutely on well but that the next important stage in sergei script recovery is going to take place outside of the hospital so presumably just like with us last month he would have been whisked away to a safe location away from the glare of the media where he can continue his recovery and just remind you about how this whole scandal unfolded sergei script file of former double agent he and his daughter were found unconscious. slumped on a park bench on the fourth of march and soon after it became apparent that they had been poisoned with this deadly military grade nerve agent called novacek which had been developed by soviet scientists in the soviet union and in the ensuing days the british government pointed the finger of blame for the incidence squarely at moscow
12:23 pm
saying that it was highly likely that russia was behind the attack which is something that the kremlin has. denied throughout this scandal and despite the fact that the head of the government lab here as well which analyzed and identified that nerve agent is not a chuck said that scientists one able to pin down the origin of the deadly substance and there had been rampant media speculation throughout as well a few media outlets newspapers in the first days of the scandal even kind of jumped the gun and got a bit ahead of themselves in terms of saying that the russian the former russian double agent had been murdered and killed and that could have been perhaps because of the fact that was. considered a very deadly substance a lot of people were saying in the media pundits and politicians as well that it wasn't there was not much chance of the two surviving this ordeal but what's
12:24 pm
been described as a miraculous recovery politicians have certainly hailed it as a miraculous medical recovery. was discharged from hospital last month we haven't heard from her since she's a russian citizen she's refused all consular assistance she was taken to an undisclosed location as well and no one really has heard from her since and that is what we can expect will happen with a script with her father. as well arty's requested interviews with him throughout this ordeal and while he was in hospital and each time those requests has been denied the hospital says the power will need to be recovering still to continue his recovery while he's outside hospital presumably police are going to keep talking to him as well there's been
12:25 pm
a statement from scotland yard saying that the counterterrorism investigation into what took place continues and then that they're going to be keeping the progress of it under wraps as well as the presumably extensive security arrangements surrounding sergei script now but despite the continuing speculation and the political fallout that this scandal has caused it appears that investigators are still none the wiser as to who would be assassin was and who it was who allegedly put that deadly nerve agent on the door handle of the script paul family home and souls very. in the u.k. thank you. i mean one according to german media report the country's intelligence service had possession of novi chalk the nerve agent that was used on the script as far back as the early one nine hundred ninety s.
12:26 pm
the sample was analyzed in sweden and present passed on to germany's nato partners including the u.s. and the u.k. former german intelligence officer in the group believes the german media article on the issue is credible. lee reports as far as i been reading it did there should be go into from other reports sunspots of its. in particular this research group. present some ministers were prepared to talk about it who participated in this operation so it sounds plausible to me. all the more because germany had already had the best german government you previously tried to acquire. chemical weapons for the poor. and has the ingredients for this horrific stuff can be bored really almost
12:27 pm
everywhere if you have the formula you all you need it's highly secure the border so basically it could be done anywhere. now we have some breaking news from italy where a possible coalition government deal has been officially released for the first time since the election in march let's go straight to our europe correspondent peter oliver for more on this pay to then can you tell us what's in this potential dale. well i'll give you its title first it's been called the contract for the government of change it certainly puts out plenty of change in those proposals now this was published by the five star movement it's part of their coalition agreement to deal with the far right league and north party now this well should it be put before going to be put before party members of both parties should they agree then world those two sides get to put forward a prime minister and it's up to the italian president then to decide whether he
12:28 pm
gets his vote or her or she gets his vote and they become the next prime minister that makes sense that's where we are at seventy days on since italy had an election it's this is the attempt to try and get some kind of consensus government now that the preliminary versions of this agreement that have been leaked over the last few days well they were criticized in the media as being either you or pro russian we can now have a look at exactly what was in what is in the proposal so they will be no unilateral exit from the eurozone or the e.u. there won't be any referendum taking place on italy leaving either of those two they won't ask for two hundred fifty billions you're worth of debt to be written off but there will be a review of go see a sion that will be attempted we're also looking at potentially a huge overhaul of immigration policy within the e.u. particularly the dublin treaty italy wants to see big changes there the five star
12:29 pm
and league ignored wanting to push that through should they get an ok in the go ahead on this government they also want to see the scrapping of sanctions against russia and russia to be viewed as a trade partner not as a threat now if we look at the the versions that were leaked previously the word immediately was in there it's worth noting that isn't in the official final version the team published on friday and there's also talk of. any universal basic income that would be seven hundred eighty euro per person living in italy that's going to see seventeen billion euros worth of public spending but also and ask for cash from the european union have to keep an eye on that but this is certainly going to be if it gets the green light a government that goes head to head with brussels there's going to be collisions here particularly when you look at the ideas that are being put ahead to scrap austerity and to get back spending public money that is not going to go down well
12:30 pm
in either frankfurt with the european central bank or in brussels it in you head office a sticky topic to say the least ok thanks pete there was a pete all of forests in berlin where political scientists runs their things if the deal is implemented it could cause a political shake up across europe think the keith to hear will be. the actual action of the government will be if a government is in place with this platform so rather than the words written in the agreement i think we'll have to see whether this government. actually starts starts governing starts running the country and which policies it actually tries to put into action so this could have an impact on other countries both in terms of the rhetoric towards europe and in terms of specific actions. now the european commission has triggered legislation aimed at protecting european come.
