health services that they say they're providing for people can't afford health care now heres my one simple question since the tens of thousands of dollars a year we pay to offset the governments in if in ability to fulfill their requirement why can't i write that off as a charitable donation on my taxes. welcome back there is a major political and financial drama in europe this week as the italian president's rejection of a government coalition has set the stage for a vote that may decide the future of the eurozone over the weekend president sergio mata rela rejected a proposed slate of government ministers put forth by a coup. coalition of anti-establishment reformists of the five star party and the

anti immigrant hard right league formerly the northern league leaders of five star in the league had been jockeying previously for a position in a coalition government since march when five star gained a third of the vote the largest share for any single party while the league polled seventeen percent but when the parties finally reached a pact the president rejected the coalition citing as causes belief that their proposed finance minister policy of bono wanted to pull italy out of the euro zone coalition leaders did not campaign on leaving the euro zone and angrily deny that they plan to but documents linked during the coalition talks seemed to out them as the euro skeptics at least in any event metros reasoning has now framed the likely coming election as a referendum on italy's relationship with europe. buying a ticket and hitting the movie theater is

a long tradition here in the united states and with the world's most iconic entertainment studios in hollywood it's no surprise that the u.s. is the world top movie market however that could be changing in the near future for the past few years china has been quickly catching up to the americans as the box office favorite revenue from north america is top ten billion dollars for at least the past eight years while movie attendance has remained fairly steady in the u.s. over the past decade attendance in china has exploded in fact china could potentially surpassed north america as the largest movie market in the world as soon as get this this year while experts are skeptical of the country's potential china's ticket sales have already outpaced sales in the u.s. so far this year china which is currently the world's second largest box office market has seen their box office revenues grow from just more than a billion and a half dollars in two thousand and ten to more than eight billion dollars in less than a decade and it's become a key source of revenue for the country. but while china's theater attendance has

skyrocketed in the last few years hollywood executives are now fretting about the future of their products in the country months ago some movie production companies fear of retaliation from tough trade threats from the united states but now they have found a new reason to be concerned the chinese government. following recent shake ups in the ranks of the government the country's film industry will now be operated by the ruling communist party's ministry of propaganda in the past the country's film department worked under an independent governmental organization which was not affiliated with the communist party the move gives the ruling party more scrutiny of foreign films that are allowed in the country because the executives in hollywood another movie industry is to become an easy the move comes after president xi jinping is recent power consolidation which is allowed to serve indefinitely currently any foreign film showing in the country must be approved by
2:07 pm
the government before airing. and canada has opened its wallet to buy the trans mountain pipeline a move which has angered both of those on the left and right of the political spectrum the country's federal government is spending nearly three point five billion dollars to buy the pipeline at all the texas and all of the texas based morgan's core assets in china and canada rather archies alex behind which joins us from toronto not china with more alex what's the federal government's logic in buying that controversial trans mountain pipeline we've talked about that thing many times that it seems like others lots of trouble there. oh yeah this is either a step forward or a step backwards according to your speaking to looks like prime minister trudeau who everybody thought wanted to be environmentalists looks more like you know stetson hat texan oil baron or executive as he pushes this project through and they're buying this pipeline now we've talked about this pipeline as you mentioned
2:08 pm
here the map kind of proves what this is and shows some of the controversial parts of it the fact we have a sixty year old leaky pipeline that goes through some of the most pristine areas not only in canada but in the world from the tar sands all the way up the mountains through forests and down to the pacific ocean which is going to have guaranteed more tanker traffic if there is more oil there so that's where some of the controversy possible talk more about that but here's the logic behind what trudeau and his people are doing they say you know we need to have this pipeline to build basically confidence in this project if it's canadian owned of its own by the government and we can move forward from there to her mortgage going to keep working on this pipeline to expand it until august and then we can move forward to expand it you know they want to go to triple capacity and then somewhere down the road when markets get better the canadian government can sell this pipeline off to somebody and this is the logic behind this alberta as a premier rachel not least she's giving this a thumbs up you know that she's had
2:09 pm
a lot of problems with this since the tar sands are in her province jeez even saying we'll throw two billion more necessary if there's any problems what does but how does that logic work one of the opponents to this pipeline will still be around not months but most likely years from now who are you going to sell this thing to with that opposition still happening tkinter borgen couldn't do it why would somebody else be able to do it and that's why many people are saying that this is just a ploy in fact this pipeline is just meant for nationalized they should and that's it period in the long run. well i mean who is opposing this thing is it just environmentalist i mean you know that any environmentalist group would be opposed to as you say a leaky pipeline but what who is against this thing what environmentalists of course as you mentioned they are they've been protesting forever we also have native groups in this country who are being very vocal about this this goes through some of their land they have problems with this just passing through their land without their permission a and b. this is an environmental threat see if the people of canada especially those that
2:10 pm
live in the east are as i say the west coast tanker traffic and chances are you're going to have a spill of they're going to go up so all these people don't like it at all you also have the b.c. premier mr horrigan he's been opposing this from the very beginning and he's saying the same threats exist no matter if this is national or who owns it this is what's happening on the right very different story they're saying we had a pipeline here being built for us five billion dollars invested by kidder borgen and now we are what the three point five billion us in a hole so this could have been done by a private company it wasn't done by a private company the government's taking it and you know the right they do not like anything with the words nationalisation in it also i mean it's a pretty strong argument from that part so left or right ed nobody seems happy about this in this country at least. when in doubt government steps and r.t. correspondent alex mileage thank you as always alex thank you.

the chances that a stray should place restrictions on doing business in the u.s. for chinese telecom giant. six weeks ago after z.t. broke u.s. sanctions by selling products to our rand in north korea but then in recent days mr trump has decided to spare izzie t. even allow them to get back into business in the us and some apparent arrangement with president g. jinping of china now members of mr trump's own political party are saying the madness has to stop in frontal opposition as u.s. senator marco rubio the florida republican who says congress will take steps to prevent z.t. eat from being able to do business in the united states all of this continues as a trade war tit for tat with trying to continues here to help sort us a third all out is radio and t.v. host steve wallace ok steve you've got to explain what the deal is with z t e it's a national security concern and
2:12 pm
a corporate security concern which is why we have these sanctions and they violated it but explain the circumstances well. has long been suspected it's a chinese multinational telecommunications company have long been suspected of espionage using the routers and other technical the technological equipment to spy corporately and national government agencies as well and when they were found to be in violation of u.s. sanctions as you mentioned by doing business with and shipping technology to iran and north korea well the commerce department last year imposed severe sanctions seven years they were going to forbid c.t.e. for dealing with american companies that were their suppliers so that effectively would put them out of business so the president china picks up the phone calls donald's. and says this company is going to go out of business if you believe what the trump said and all these people are going to lose their jobs so downtime says we can't have that we're going to save the company so the new penalties are with
2:13 pm
a couple of billion dollars of it in fines they're going to have to put americans in positions of authority within the company to make sure that everything's on the up and up and they're also going to have to replace the entire management team and so that's what trump has agreed with with the commerce department marco rubio for one has been leading the charge of amongst republicans and others who is outrage and says z t e should go out of business we don't want them here in this country we should ban them we should ban all chinese telecommunications companies from this country because they spied on us so that's where we are that's that's the latest and rubio seems to think that if they pass legislation in the house saying z.t. e has to go that even if the president vetoes that they will have enough people two thirds to override that veto it's a crazy circumstance where the president just flipping on these things which brings up another question stephen is how do you negotiate with a you know
2:14 pm
a deal maker in chief who trades their changes their positions all the time well i think this whole. and i think tariffs which we'll get to that he says they won't be any would they have now there will be some it's all part of a grand scheme for us all we need china china needs us more than we need them in the long run they have a three hundred seventy five billion dollars trade surplus with us they steal our intellectual property trump knows this he's looking for bargaining chips he's looking for for ways to prevent and fix both those those problems but he also needs china for north korea he needs them for other geo political reasons they're building islands in the china sea they're doing all kinds of things so trump sees all of this as one pot and he could pick and choose and cut and slice and just because he's. as one thing today doesn't mean it's going to be in the grand bargain wilbur ross commerce secretary is going to be in china this weekend trump is doing all these things now and ross then has all these bargaining chips in and oh ok i
2:15 pm
know trump said this but if you give us this i'll tell trump to go back on that it seems to have worked with north korea so far as far as getting a summit maybe to work with china in the grand scheme of things it's too early to tell we will hope it works out steve malzberg conservative t.v. and radio host thank you for filling always my pleasure thank you. and before we go i ask at the top of the program what you would be if you lost seventeen thousand dollars in income this year well the answer is you'd be a mom of a mother today as moms equal pay day according to the bureau of labor statistics seventy percent of mothers in the u.s. are in the workforce when i worked on capitol hill one of the things that drove me crazy was all of the commemorative bills to proclaim things like national dairy go to awareness day i'm serious sorry to the dairy goat farmers but there are certain
2:16 pm
things that we don't need to know but there are a bunch of reasons to raise awareness about serious subjects and equal pay is something super important because today and the numbers do matter here today we are one hundred fifty days into the year and one fifty is the extra number of days that a mom would need to work to earn the same annual pay as a dead just nuts we have heard that women are paid about eighty cents for every dollar that a man makes but they get for working moms is even greater seventy one cents to the dollar there's a mom pay gap in every state in the union the worst state in which to be a mom as far as getting paid is in utah and the best state is in maine we're a mom gets eighty five cents to the dollar that a dad makes let's hope. things get better here or there c.e.o.'s there's a place to put some of those hard earned tax cuts thanks for watching be sure to catch boom bust on you tube youtube dot com slash boom bust artie we'll catch you

. that i. suppose it would look good on the body. russia's foreign minister meets the north korean leader was given exclusive images from inside the assembly hall where the high level talks to be taking place. european court of human rights rooms lithuania and romania were complicit in the tools with al-qaeda terrorist suspects in the cia's program at secret detention centers and journalists worldwide vent their anger at ukraine the staging the murder of russian opposition journalist cenk trust. but both of you feel as

research regarding sanctions is completely obvious that when we start talking about the nuclear issue and other issues on the korean peninsula it's with the understanding that nothing can happen with sanctions still in place how that's going to be achieved is another question a matter of the art of the goshi ocean but it can't be done in one go just like denuclearization can't that is why there have to be stages in progress at each stage. didn't arrive in north korea empty handed he did have a small present for kim a russian keepsake box. for the month of it also has a key you can look away some secret stuff on the top diplomats also invited came here to russia and passed on a message from vladimir putin in response the north korean leader send all greetings to the president our correspondent in a bit frank here has been following the meeting in pyongyang and got exclusive images taken from inside north korea.
2:23 pm
you know these are our first. democratic people's republic of korea. so thirty labyrinths limo just departed and we're going to follow him right. we just left the airport and we're trying to catch up with the star of the limo but we seem to be a bit far behind we're on the way to the capital pyongyang. this is a truly incredible opportunity for us to film inside the place where most high profile mean things and north korea happened just as the russian foreign minister sergei lavrov is talking to his north korean counterpart behind closed doors right there. the moment when the russian top diplomat is. is absolutely unique on the one hand
2:24 pm
the resolution of the korean peninsula crisis might be just a few steps away with a massive concessions the north and the south have both been making and even donald trump to however we understand that any wrong move can make everything collapse. so the question is why exactly sergey lavrov and it up in the north korean topical russian diplomatic sources suggest that it was after several indications in a row by mr lauper of tattle park during his visit to moscow. we were also told that the north korean side the one to the trip to happen asap during a traditional way to chat with the journalists on the plane. when we asked sergei
2:25 pm
lavrov why this was happening and what to expect of the visit his answer was well does have to see i don't know for now. ok we'll discuss the visit a bit joined by a dang glazebrook political analyst dan you very welcome as usual thanks for coming on let's just talk about a couple of things that lavrov said firstly he mentioned that denuclearization and the easing of sanctions should move gradually together. is that sensible do you think it will happen. if there was to be a deal made it have to be a step by step deal like that. seems to be giving the impression that he believes that the north koreans will have to completely give up their nuclear program before they get any kind of concessions in return while this is obviously not going to happen whether whether it whether it happened stage by stage well frankly i'm not sure that north korea would settle for simply lifting sanctions and in exchange for
2:26 pm
giving up its nuclear program i think if they were to actually consider full denuclearization they would want not only a complete lifting of sanctions but the complete removal of u.s. troops from the korean peninsula that their goal has always been to d. conflict demilitarize remove the u.s. presence from the korean peninsula and arrive a stable and secure peace deal with the cost and security guarantee for themselves what's interesting is that trumps show no signs that he's necessarily willing to offer any of this and yet he has been hyping up the possibility of denuclearization which is why many observers seem to be expecting this summit to can only by and in some kind of failure why i think is interesting is that actually there is a track record of western powers. in in in setting up these kind of failures i
2:27 pm
wonder if trump is trying to second mark for some kind of ram movie agreement if you remember in one thousand nine hundred nine when nato was preparing to one yugoslavia it offered milosevic this supposedly wonderful offer by which they would call off the the military action but they inserted into it and unacceptable clause which in which would allow total nato occupation of the whole of yugoslavia in other words they made him an offer he had to refuse and i wonder if trump is planning the same thing to actually make an offer that seems like a wonderfully generous offer that then of course that the north korean side would have to object and then trump could escalate his whole his attentions and sanctions and so on against korea escalate his hostility towards russia and china as vote being supporters of north korea on the basis that he'd made them this wonderful piece office offer and then been rejected i wonder if that's the way this is actually actually going because the two sides seem so far apart it's hard to
2:28 pm
envision many other scenarios playing out do you think that that's what lavrov was sort of getting at when he will in pyongyang do you have to consider recent history when meek making a deal with washington. yeah well that and of course perhaps he may have been referring to the two thousand and three deal with libya that the u.s. themselves have actually repeatedly drawn drawn attention to where of course gadhafi agreed to give up his nuclear weapons and then ended up paying the ultimate price in return so yeah and also lavrov i imagine was referring to the twenty fifteen deal with iran we know that the fate the fate of that which is all the more reason why it's hard to envision a scenario where. we'll be satisfied with any security guarantee that the us my offer in exchange for giving up nuclear weapons now of course it's not only the u.s. he would. look to for security ultimately there is a there is a treaty
2:29 pm
a military alliance effectively between north korea and china and if russia is going to offer its security guarantee security umbrella to north korea as well that could potentially persuade the koreans that their future will be secure for for in exchange for the for the right kind of deal but as i say i still think that the sticking point will be the removal of u.s. forces from the korean peninsula i can't see how trump despite all his rhetoric about you know his allies needing to take take care of themselves and so on i think this would just be such a diminution of of u.s. power that he would not be able to offer that so as i say it's difficult to see really a deal because of course you could have you could envision a deal lifting sanctions in exchange for freeze or nuclear test for example a more limited deal but trying to raise the stakes so high that he wants nothing less than full nuclearization it looks like he's not willing to consider that kind of
2:30 pm
a smaller compromise arrangement ullevi so it does look this this is heading for some kind of failure and i suspect both sides are planning to maneuver to such a degree they can blame the other is using this i suspect this is what trumps up to i can't see any other way forward for him really ok well look it's a case of waiting in carrying legally and sort all together sure ok dan look we're going to leave there always nice to talk to you good to get your insight there was political analyst down at least but thank you. now the european court of human rights has ruled lithuania and remain you took part in the cia's program the secret detention centers last day violated the probation on top here by helping the agency with the interrogation of two al qaeda suspects both countries have been ordered to pay the men one hundred thousand euros in compensation but one of the suspects was according to the cia a key al qaeda figure no charges were brought against him as part of his interrogation he was.
