4:30 pm
it's going to be croatia denmark in that second round game that could be a very decent clash because of all of the teams i've seen so far croatia of the own as an english i call my england funhouse on the way sure the only team i've seen so far that i would think. would face a really tough challenge against tough they're strong and they are lethal with the least four players that can make something out of nothing so it looks like the way she denmark in this you know it could open the first x. open for up well let's say but i'll be back out full time for all the highlights are right that of the games just about half past five so you they see them. well welcome back to the news bulletin now artie's middle east correspondent paula
4:31 pm
slayer has been denied entry to ukraine she was stopped at the border while heading to a human rights conference on media freedom here's the latest report that she said. so the good news is that i have finally been given my passport back and my boarding card so i'm actually going to start right now and make my way through to the boarding gate i have been stuck here at the international departures lounge for the last eight hours and there's been no more explanation given to me as to why i'm here and why i was deported and why i'm being refused entry to claim other than that it was an order they came from above now i do understand that this essentially means that they see me as a threat to state security and that's often the reason that is given as an explanation but how they could be true in my case is beyond me because i was essentially coming here to participate in a workshop dedicated to the work of foreign journalists now you can see behind me there and i'm moving the camera at the departure lounge is really quiet and then as
4:32 pm
i say this is where i have been for the last eight hours this is the piece of paper that they had me sign it is written in ukrainian and it essentially says that i am prevented from coming back year after year and now that five years now the o.e.c.d. has issued a statement saying that they regret the fact that myself and our russian colleague of mine have been denied entry to what was essentially a workshop conference that is open to everyone but it remains to be seen if anything comes out of that other than a statement now to be fair the airport police are basically left me alone aside from bring him up possible to short time ago have basically been there for the last eight hours to burn this part of the airport as i'm speaking to the station happening right now and only see is dedicated to safety of journalists and it's quite ironic that as people there are deliberating over this and i'm stuck here in the departure of one and i'm able to take on this issue that i really want to just replace him because i believe it's vitally important that journalists from across
4:33 pm
the spectrum give their input as to how journalists can work safe there in dangerous areas as you see behind me this is the. you that are starting to feel so much light is starting to board i want to say thank you to everyone for the messages of support with them on whatsapp with their treats i do appreciate them i'll catch base with you on the i'm assigned just now. well as paula said she wasn't given any explanation as to why she's been denied entry however under ukrainian law foreigners must be given a reason if they're denied access or we have asked the ukrainian foreign ministry to clarify their stance on the situation and so far we're still waiting for a response we did get a response though from the british foreign office commenting on the case of r.t. is paul a slayer you has a british passport they said it wasn't something they could help with and also read directed us to speak with the ukrainian authorities. or paula had to leave ukraine once before when she received death threats in twenty fifteen she was covering
4:34 pm
a story about wildfires sweeping through the area around trouble and asking people about how the situation was unfolding ukrainian journalist unhappy with paula being allowed entry to the country launched an online campaign and called for people to kill her she then started receiving death threats on twitter and subsequently fled the country a lot of things. well the incident was actually mentioned that the media freedom conference that paula was heading to however the panel decided to switch to other subjects as soon as it was mentioned don't you think that ukraine should step away from the policy that we condemn and russia i'm thankful to the speaker for condemning the decision of the ukrainian authorities not to allow russian journalist of guinea permaculture and r.t. correspondent paula slip to come to green so by preventing them from participating in this conference thank you. question more for the audience not necessarily for the expert panel here so i'm sure that will be discussed during the break i have
4:35 pm
one was there one last question or we call you. know ok listen thank you very much to all my panelists. well russian foreign ministry spokesman my at the heart of us says the lack of a strong reaction from the international community to kiev mistreatment of generalists owning carriage is it more or less i was the only one denied entry to ukraine it's just i we spoke with a russian reporter you have any primakov who was also ten back at the border. who insist. that. the book with whom in the group years.
4:36 pm
ago. it was the order of. patrick having said they'd second day of editor of the twenty first century wired dot com believes choosing ukraine as a venue for a conference on media freedoms is questionable i think the choice of the ukraine is a venue for an event like this certainly you can make a case that maybe this is a country where press freedom isn't really at the top of the list in recent years maybe not the best venue for an event like this but nonetheless the organizers have made a statement and have seemed to have condemned the decision by ukrainian authorities to deport these two journalists but beyond beyond this i think the important other point is polis lire for instance is one of the top war correspondents across any network has worked in russia or not in the ukraine per se although she's worked in these countries but she's in israel she's in syria she's in other war zones so
4:37 pm
certainly this is somebody who you want to be speaking at a conference like this who has a lot of experience internationally as an individual and as a great reporter just the fact that she happens to work for r.t. is neither here nor there she could be anybody on her badge but as an individual she's an outstanding reporter so that's kind of really disappointing by the ukrainian authorities. and what about what use after the short break. you know world big partisan movie lot and conspiracy it's time to wake up to dig deeper to hit the stories that mainstream media refuses to tell more than ever we need to be smarter we need to stop slamming the door on the back and shouting past each other that it's time for critical thinking it's time to fight for the middle for the truth the time is now for watching closely watching
4:38 pm
the hawks. will make this manufacture consent to instant of public wealth. when the ruling classes protect themselves. with the fine and merry go round lifts only the one percent. going all middle of the room sick. i mean real news is really. well welcome back to the news and just a score update from the work those world cup games in group c. in australia against peru in sochi it's now two nil to peru probably guerrero
4:39 pm
adding the second goal after a career added the first ever world cup goal for peru meanwhile over at the luzhniki it's denmark against france that group that game to decide who will win the group it's still nil nil as it stands france are of as we know are already going through and it will be denmark who will be joining them in the last sixteen well we want locals in a paris suburb say the drug problem there has spiraled out of control and they accuse the government of out of doing nothing about it shall it do as more. i'm on the road that skirts around port palin in the paris as you can see the slum that's emerged here is brimming with rubbish it's also infested with rats but more worryingly this has become a haunt sport for crack addicts and the issue is so severe now that locals have this crack hill a little further up the road it's not long before we come across people who appear
4:40 pm
to be smoking crack in broad daylight others showing signs of being high often known as the poor man's drug crack is a derivative of cocaine mixed with baking soda or mania it's the most addictive form of the drug division i've seen people come here and after six months they look like the walking dead they've lost fifteen kilos it's really hell for everyone she share in the g.m. has lived here for twelve years he says that while delicious pal has had a history of drug problems it's now spiraled out of control. to bury the situation imported electra powell is catastrophic the authorities have let the place turn into a slum full of crack addicts it is ignore way the community on the hill there are five hundred people who were doing crazy things and annoying the locals very aggressively steal all sorts of things going on here about five years ago there
4:41 pm
were around a dozen of them we knew who they were but today it's five hundred the state is completely abandoned everyone stuck in traffic we see some men demanding money from drivers they claim it's for food but local say the money goes on drugs and despite a continuous police presence nothing seems to change some officials are now claiming this is the crack capital of france. the scale of the problem is such that put the chapelle is the biggest selling point and consumer of crack in france there are no demands for an emergency plan to be instigated to combat the problem so far those crisis not being heated by the government nor the local authorities and for now the people who live in port delish apparel and its surrounding areas remain in fear if the crack addiction continues to explode jollity pinski r.t.
4:42 pm
paris. presidential elections in turkey have revealed support for incumbent president herder and among the turkish community in germany is even higher than in turkey according to initial results around two thirds of turks living in germany voted for daryn boosting his overall result around forty three percent of german turks eligible to vote took part and became a crucial source of votes for turkish politicians after victory speech on sunday night hundreds of his supporters in germany took to the streets to celebrate the celebrations provoked heavy criticism from some german politicians. sorry but that makes me sick let's face it the celebrating german turkish odu and supporters not only celebrate their autocrat but also express their rejection of our liberal democracy. well we discussed the turkish elections with ramsey arrow founder of the alliance of german democrats he thinks german politicians and the media should
4:43 pm
concentrate on their own country and not get involved in other states affairs. because people. call him a load of german opinion makers who knows what the choice people in the democracy of the people have decided what the good choices so the germans also know what the choices for russia are they know what a good choice is for the united states they know everything and so i think the people in germany and also in the media should concentrate on their own country and not give advisors to other countries that are poles of lumber the way to what is a good choice for the people. as have another update from those world cup games then in group c. moving across to sochi where stray are taking on peru that's still to nil to peru their first ever world cup goals and the australians will they need to win this game and hope the denmark doesn't a favor but as it is it looks like the socceroos will be going home meanwhile at
4:44 pm
the luzhniki stadium it's still denmark now or france now as we know france have already qualified going through and it looks like denmark will be going through with them as it stands from both of those games in group c. sixty five minutes gone in both of those games and we'll be back after the short break. whether the object is he should go to one of the four so he be in luck because. the bus or. the scream of which i mean i well me and nothing. but the filthy. rich with. whom i was was a. problem the who moved me to. the school i'm. only

4:47 pm
be. greetings and salutations earlier this month the folks at food giant kraft tines took their country time lemonade game to a new level by introducing country time legal aid the company is offering to cover permit fees and fines for any child who runs afoul of the long arm of the law while running a lemonade stand because most people realize that finding a child for having a lemonade stand is nonsense of course san francisco canine cannabis treat maker alison at all doesn't think those darn kids should be let off the hook so easily i was caught on camera this weekend threatening to call the cops on an eight year old girl who was selling bottles of water from the steps of her own apartment building to people headed to a nearby baseball game and ninety to. gree hate all because it was being done without a permit at all claims that the girl and her mother were to long road she claims
4:48 pm
they were screaming for hours and no stopping she told the huffington post though quote it was stupid i completely forgot that hand but i handled that so poorly i was completely so it was completely stress related and i should have never confronted her that was a mistake a complete mystic please don't make me sound horrible now known as permit patty on the internet allison udell is one of many white women calling or threatening to call the police on black men like women black children for the crime of trying to barbecue selling water or just generally existing probably too loudly for her like a white house press secretary sarah huckabee sanders was asked to leave a restaurant this weekend after immigrant and l g b t staff told the owner that they wouldn't be comfortable serving her due to our comments of both topics and position as press secretary california represent a vaccine waters told supporters at a california rally this weekend quote if you see anybody from that cabinet in
4:49 pm
a restaurant in a department store at a gasoline station you get out and you create a crowd you push back on them tell them they're not welcome anymore anywhere now many claim that civil disobedience could be the end of civility so let's stop being polite and start watching the hocks. the older you get the. real deal with. the liars the part of. what it looks like you are going to. welcome everybody to watch your heart i doubt it. well listen joining me today. for a civil discussion is educator and writer and
4:50 pm
a social justice attorney. a mucci how are you today both of you thanks for joining me thank you i wish it was a better story to talk about obviously so the story of this eight year old girl selling water made the rounds this week and alison at all the woman in the video claims she was only pretending to call police which i don't i don't know which is worse. and it was just because they were too loud that she says it has nothing to do with with rapists just a black with being her being black was it wasn't i'm a motivator but it kind of seems impossible not to feel like it must have been. known it seems that when someone is caught doing something as unseemly as you know pretending to call the cops on a black child in this day and age there's always this excuse that they were uncomfortable something someone else was doing was was keeping them from being happy that they that this was this was about their comfort what kind of message does that send to black children to the black community as we watch these things
4:51 pm
happen more and more frequently right i think one that police officers. fulfill the duties of white people who in the y. supremacy in a white institution so oftentimes. we white women are perceived as innocent as guilt free and oftentimes are purveyors of a lot of violence pacifically anti-black violence throughout history. had k.k.k. chapters still have taken chapters but oftentimes we think of white filings we think of the trumps we think of white men and we don't believe think of all the ways that white women are complicit to this violence and so cops serve the interests of those who are in power and so black people can call the cops on white people right but white women still in power at any time any type of comfort to remove black people from public spaces and that's also goal of policing is to remove black people from. this is in which white people feel uncomfortable and we see that in d.c. we see that across the country we see when judge a vacation is happening that the
4:52 pm
first thing that happens is you see a influx of police officers and specific localities to do the process of removing black people and letting them know that they are not welcome in these public spaces which is just you forget that it's twenty eighteen and that this the entire concept of telling people this sort of force gentrification through police saying that it even goes on and that what you are saying about white women kind of using the police in this way it brings me no other thing is that it seems that part of white this white privilege especially white women is that we kind of use the police i don't personally because like i don't that's one of the things that i find it hard to understand the motivation to do it but it seems like they treat the cops like they're doormen it's like the doorman of of white supremacy and white privilege someone is in my space someone's being too loud so they called the cops and you're supposed to tell this person to be quiet but what does that relationship with the
4:53 pm
police between white women and white people are so quick to call not understanding the danger not understanding the trauma what does that relationship tell you about how people of color are treated by the police as opposed to how white members of society are treated by police to have the history of being in the dorm and for white people that's what they are right that's their job. the best way for us to get past some of this is to acknowledge this this is their role like a lot of people are trying to have an argument from both sides you know like well you know the cops you just don't want his job well you know this little black girl if she was a little white girl she would be an uprising she would be entrepreneurial she would be took her destiny it's in her own hands you know given some type of metal but no it was a black girl so the white woman felt like she was if she didn't belong there and she got the cops it was like. it's been like that like it's been like that it's
4:54 pm
going to be like that you know you know i get frustrated when we have this conversation about reform because it's like stupidity like this like you should you know it's just ridiculous is there a point where we need to start do you think we'll get to a point where i want for a small start treating these kinds of things so what they are there for the less they waste the cop's time to keep from from doing things they're supposed to be doing is there a point where these things that you need to get a fine when you do this when you call the cops or pretend to call the cops and do these things it is that i had to really look at his criminal records to do criminal justice system is really really important to infrastructure of america as you know the way we currently set up certain people to be in trouble and that's what these police officers do to keep their going right answers no no no because again mike i think that to your point where you say like people not being ignorant the fact of what cops do i think why people are well aware of what cops do when they are they're well aware of police brutality and police violence and we keep having these conversations as though people are not knowledgeable about these things when they
4:55 pm
are and so police do act to police black people and poor people immigrant people and people who are other by the state in public spaces so she knew exactly what she's doing and people who do call the cops know exactly what they're doing and i want us to remove law enforcement from communities and and the fund and divest from policing and so that police officers don't have money to function and respond to these types of calls that shows that the nature of policing is not to prevent crime it's not to protect people it's a protect people with but it's used to protect a class of people and so i want to reimagine what the source of policing is and what we should be using policing for any we should be using policing which to answer to me is no we don't need police is right now we're wasting money. and they're not even doing that's the thing that's we don't have enough money to solve murders and rapes and we don't have enough money to do rape kids but we have enough money to answer every call by every world. right over a bottle of water she didn't even have only put me she doesn't know she. was
4:56 pm
a really sort of business no and she's a follow federal laws doing her prison service oh well that brings me to the sarah sanders thanks so sarah sanders sarah how could you sanders was asked to leave a restaurant this weekend because. the staffers were uncomfortable and the owner gave them the choice do you want to serve and she politely asked her to leave and she laughed and of course she tweeted out from her press secretary account about this business and there's some been all that. with the sarah sanders incident also you know you have two major cabinet members and major members of the trumpet administration has spoken out and spoken pretty racist lee racist about the border crisis and they're going in a mexican restaurant some people are giving them a rough time there i mean it's just obedience but it's relatively so during scald civil disobedience for a reason it's really it's really hard for him and you guys. my god we only have everything in power in the world but let's pray about it some more now what the
4:57 pm
washington post editorial board actually to let the trump team piece that down that road lies a world in which only the most zealous sign up for public service and that benefits no one let me ask you first is it really a danger we need to worry about that making public servants be responsible for the actions to the public when they're in public. will only have public servants are actually dedicated to their morals and ethics and willing to face the public is that a danger that will suddenly have people no i don't i don't think that's a danger i think it is the responsibility of the public to hold elected officials accountable and you know while people might reverse it and say well black people were in the lunchrooms or what have you i think. one needs to be on the right side of history and that what the administration is doing is outwardly spewing bigotry out really spewing racism and i think that needs to be directly confronted i think the reason why we have the trump incident is because to this day people still take
4:58 pm
him as a joke they don't know understand the strategic strategy he's using to acquire more power to acquire more money and so they use these distractions of sanders and all these other cabinet members to distract from what's actually happening and the trump regime and i think the more that the right moves right and does not operate on the levels of civility the more that the left or whoever else feels compelled to should act of civil disobedience and. that is how we change a country that is historically how changes happen throughout the world is through civil disobedience and people looking at something and saying this is wrong i'm actually not going to sit for this and so i think that is the responsibility of the public if you can vote them out you directly confront them may make people feel uncomfortable and that racism is not allowed here and that's where maxine waters knows that that is not allowed here and we're not going to welcome that and people can play both sides but the matter of fact is there's no two sides to racism there is a system that is in place and people need to acknowledge that and recognize that and
4:59 pm
so i support people who are doing civil disobedience let me ask you we've got about thirty seconds left is on that same point isn't this whole civility thing really just code isn't that really just code word for gentrify like there's a way to act in certain people if you're in a position of authority you can't question them and it's just a brute she should be lucky that you don't want a place where people hate you you don't know all of the pain even there because of the people across it sorry to have you do it or yeah but you're hurting people all over the world so you grow up and go you know. like i mean rather that we all have to just take responsibility for things one in this day and age when you know how trigger happy cops are you know that they're not thinking to put a child or a mother's life in danger by calling the cops like that in a situation i think is wrong and you have to accept that there is a rape there is racism whether it's institutionalized and you don't realize it you've got to take responsibility for that thank you so much for both of you being here today and keeping this conversation going to walk ins and
5:00 pm
