and for now the people who live in put delish up pal and its surrounding areas remain in fear is the crack addiction continues to explode in ski. paris we'll have more news after the show break. in the heart of the swiss alps this is a place probably more secretive than the pentagon more mysterious than the cia and better guarded than for knox swiss customs are here permanently all the site is controlled by them and they impose the opening times. opposite it is from is all plus the procedures in place of the strictest in all europe masterpieces by artists

like pecan so and modigliani are kept boards and sold inside this warehouse that's where the report comes in it covers up deals which are naturally discreet commercially discreet but also discreet because they concern fraud. some of those paintings are linked to dark secrets nobody knows how many of these secrets a kept inside the geneva freeport social position or you'll never obtain an inventory of all the works in the freeport who knows how many there are three hundred three thousand three hundred thousand is it a matter of confidentiality only is it the world's black box of the art business. that's geysers financial life they say money to the relatives only because it is it is a central plank support diatom is a good club and right now it's a stop to. welcome

back to the program presidential elections in turkey have revealed support for incumbent president among the turkish community in germany is even higher than in turkey according to initial results around two thirds of turks living in germany voted for boosting his overall result about forty three percent of german turks eligible to vote took part and became a crucial source of votes for turkish politicians after victory speech on sunday night hundreds of his supporters in germany took to the streets to celebrate but the celebrations provoked heavy criticism from some german politicians. sorry but that makes me sick. let's face it the celebrating german turkish and supporters not only celebrate their autocrat but also express their rejection of our liberal democracy. we discussed the turkish elections with renzi founder of the alliance of german democrats he thinks german politicians and the media should concentrate on
8:33 pm
their own country and not get involved in other states affairs. people. make those. people democracy people decide choices for the german. or russian. people in germany. concentrate on their own country and not rights of other countries but our poll numbers are the way. people. parties middle east correspondent paula slayer has been denied entry to ukraine she was stopped at the border while heading to a human rights conference on media freedom well paula she's just returned from ukraine so we can finally speak to her paula it's been quite an ordeal for you how
8:34 pm
are you. well i just arrived here in berlin around ten minutes ago the flights here from kiev were pretty uneventful this of course was after spending around eight hours today in the departure lounge at the airport in kiev i arrived there in the early morning and initially my passport was flagged at customs they then took me to a side room where they kept me for around an hour and a half without giving me any kind of explanation eventually when i asked what was happening they called me and they sat me down and they said that i had been found to not be allowed to enter the country they wouldn't give any kind of reason they said it was an order that came from above and they are me to sign something that confirmed that i understood that i was not being allowed into the country and that i was being banned for the next five years and as i say no explanation given after that i was taken to the departure lounge to be honest the treatment by the border police was ok there wasn't any kind of harassment or talking to me badly in any way
8:35 pm
and they left me to my own devices a few hours later they came with my passport and then i was allowed to board the plane now i was attending a conference in kiev that is organized by the organization for security and cooperation in europe the o.e.c.d. and it's a conference that was devoted to media pirelli t.v. and media freedom in ukraine and that's the irony of the whole situation is that i was meant to participate in the conference to talk about all the the problems we as journalists face particularly in conflict zones and the very authoritative we're holding that conference refused me entry so it says a lot about the way the ukrainian authorities view press freedom not allowing journalists to attend a conference on press freedom the last time i was in kiev was back in two thousand and fifteen at that time i was reporting on fires that have broken our channel and i started receiving death threats on my twitter feed and an online witch hunt was
8:36 pm
instigated against. when the decision was taken for me to to leave as soon as possible all of this is particularly concerning because of course it sheds light on the very real situation in terms of press freedom media karate that is happening right now and here there was a response from the o.e.c.d. they said that they were greeted what had happened but of course saying one thing and having a conference on media freedom while you have myself and another russian journalist who was also prevented from entering the country while we were in the terminal and this conference was happening what words seemed to mean very little actions of course will speak louder you know they certainly will paul it seems have highlighted restrictions rather than freedom thanks for coming on to talk to this talk to us about this and get some rest if you can pull a slayer there. as for said she wasn't given any explanation as to why she's been denied entry however and that ukrainian law foreigners must be given a reason if they are denied access we have asked the ukrainian foreign ministry to
8:37 pm
clarify their stance on the situation and we are still waiting for a response though we did get a response from the british foreign office commenting on the case of paul asli who were who has a british passport they said it wasn't something they could help with they suggested speaking to the u.k. embassy in ukraine. r.t. it's also requested multiple press freedom organizations to comment on the situation with paulus lear most of them have not yet responded but here's what some of them told us the international federation of journalists said actions completely contradict democracy while human rights watch said any dissatisfaction with the work of journalist does not justify barring them from doing it. and of course the incident was mentioned at the media freedom conference the pilot was heading to however the panel changed the subject when it was mentioned. don't you think that ukraine should step away from the policy that would condemn and russia unthinkable
8:38 pm
to the speaker for condemning the decision of the ukrainian authorities not to allow russian journalist of guinea permaculture and r.t. correspondent paula slayer to come to green so by preventing them from participating in this conference thank you. question for the audience not necessarily for the expert panel here so i'm sure that will be discussed during the break i have one with one last question we call your day. no ok listen thank you very much to all my panelists russian foreign ministry spokesman areas the however says the international community is lack of strong reaction to kiev the mistreatment of journalists only encourages it and it wasn't the only want an identity to create on tuesday we spoke with a russian reporter yevgeny primakov who was also turned back at the border.
8:39 pm
patrick handing the executive editor of the twentieth century vital calm has questioned the choice of crane as a house country for a conference on media meet and i think the choice of the ukraine is a venue for an event like this certainly you can make a case that maybe this is a country where press freedom isn't really at the top of the list in recent years maybe not the best venue for an event like this but nonetheless the organizers have made a statement and have seemed to have condemned the decision by ukrainian authorities to deport these two journalists but beyond beyond this i think the important other
8:40 pm
point is polis lior for instance is one of the top war correspondents across any network has worked in russia or not in the ukraine per se although she's worked in these countries but she's in israel she's in syria she's in other war zones so certainly this is somebody who you want to be speaking at a conference like this who has a lot of experience internationally as an individual and as a great reporter just the fact that she happens to work for r.t. is neither here nor there she could be anybody on her badge but as an individual she's an outstanding reporter so that's kind of really disappointing by the ukrainian authorities. senior u.s. administration officials are being hounded by creeps in. trump activists such incidents have risen sharply following the controversy surrounding the u.s. president's now shelved immigration policy all t's kind of mopin picks up the story
8:41 pm
anti government activism in the united states has become increasingly confrontational with a new emphasis on ostracizing and humiliating elected officials huckabee sanders the white house press secretary found this out the hard way when she made the mistake of trying to eat out in a nice restaurant last night and was told by the who know that hand in lexington virginia to leave because i work for paul to us and that by mike who left the secretary of homeland security had a very similar experience however she actually made it to her table inside the restaurant first however she couldn't enjoy her meal before things got ugly and then the chain restaurant claimed they. damn sure. after she left the restaurant the mob set up shop outside of her home.
8:42 pm
where we all know that the anonymity of the internet brings out the best in people right well after they refused to serve sanders the red hen network has been subject to all kinds of threats and false reviews meanwhile several internet platforms are trying to stop the circulation of immigration customs enforcement employees by anti trump activists. as immigration and customs enforcement continues to ramp up its inhumane surveillance and detention efforts i believe it's important to document what's happening and by whom and any way we can to that end i've downloaded made available the profiles of almost everyone on linked in who works for migration and customs enforcement one thousand five hundred ninety five people in total things have gotten rough before between supporters of the administration and street activists however elected officials always step in and tell folks to be civil and respectful not anymore. and we have.
8:43 pm
to let. you. know. you said you. know you got a primary. at the moment is an analogy. germany this policy of family separation reminds us of that cattle cars of nazi germany when children were separated from their parents and marched to the supposed showers slave traders use these tactics not seen as he has these tactics terrorists use these tactics but now the president the united states is using these tactics bottom line donald trump increasingly looks like hitler in nazi germany like to concentrate. on board are integrating the unusual punishment john most would agree that's a pretty extreme exaggeration but members of the trump camp aren't exactly helping
8:44 pm
themselves when they look racist language. you know that you're not enjoying your cotton pickin mind. david bossie apologized for that comment but the damage is already done and now we've got steve king referring to migrant children as gang material young boys old enough to to be. tried as adults will serve in the military and prime thirteen gang material and certainly grew up in the culture of one of the top ten most violent countries in the world and nobody in this country who understands history wants to encourage anybody to move a political debate into a zone of reckless civil disobedience and violence people in the media who blow these charges up without actually dressing down those who might make those accusations are inciting. a kind of riotous debate hang up
8:45 pm
you have a duty to be fair and balanced you have a duty to seek out the truth and publish the truth and you have a responsibility not to shout fire in a crowd in a crowded theater and so we've got mobs yelling nazi internet threats racial slurs taunts and calls for violence within greetings like that the story never really ends well. artsy new york i thought round up of the top so i stand all special world cup coverage i'll be back in thirty minutes but also don't go away. what politicians do you should. put themselves on the line. to get accepted or rejected. so when you want to be president. some want to listen. to going to the press this is what the korean people are. interested

in the war. chose seemed wrong. just don't hold. me. to shape out just because the ticket and engaged equals betrayal. when so many find themselves worlds apart. just to look for common ground. the. greetings and salutation. earlier this month the folks at food giant kraft tines took their country time limit a game to a new level by introducing country time legal aid the company is offering to cover

permit fees and fines for any child who runs afoul of the long arm of the law while running a lemonade stand because most people realize that finding a child for having a lemonade stand is nonsense of course san francisco canine cannabis treat maker alison at all doesn't think those kids should be let off the hook so easily it was caught on camera this weekend threatening to call the cops on an eight year old girl who was selling bottles of water from the steps of her own apartment building to people headed to a nearby baseball game in ninety degree heat all because it was being done without a permit at all claims that the girl and her mother were to law she claims they were screaming for hours and no stopping she told the huffington post though quote it was stupid i completely or got the hand that i handled that so poorly i was completely it was completely stress related and i should have never confronted her
8:48 pm
that was a mistake a complete mistake please don't make me sound horrible now known as permit party on the internet allison idol is one of many white women calling or threatening to call the police on black men like women black children for the crime of trying to barbecue selling water or just generally existing probably too loudly for her liking and white house press secretary sarah huckabee sanders was asked to leave a restaurant this weekend after him a great analogy of the tea staff told the owner that they wouldn't be comfortable serving her today were comments of both topics and position as press secretary california represent a vaccine waters told supporters at a california rally this weekend quote if you see anybody from that cabinet in a restaurant in a department store at a gasoline station you get out and you create a crowd you push back on them tell them they're not welcome anymore anywhere now many claim. civil disobedience could be the end of civility so let's stop being polite and start watching the hawks. want to.
8:49 pm
get a. real good look. as a lot of. what it looks like you are going. to. welcome everybody to watching hockey on top of the list and joining me today for a civil discussion is educator and writer d. walk ins and a social justice attorney and then on a maci how are you today both of you thanks for joining me having a thank you i wish it was a better story to talk about obviously so the story of this eight year old girl selling water made the rounds this week and and alison at all the woman in the video claims she was only pretending to call police which i don't i don't know
8:50 pm
which is worse. and it was just because they were too loud that she says it has nothing to do with the rapists she said black with being her being black was it wasn't i'm a motivator but it kind of seems impossible not to feel like it must have been. and then it seems that when someone is caught doing something as unseemly as you know pretending to call the cops on a ninety year old black child in this day and age there's always this excuse that they were uncomfortable something someone else was doing was was keeping them from being happy that they that this was this was about their comfort what kind of message does that send to black children to the black community as we watch these things happen more and more frequently right i think one that police officers. fulfill the duties of white people who and the why supremacy in a white institution. so oftentimes. we white women are perceived as innocent as guilt free and oftentimes are purveyors of
8:51 pm
a lot of violence pacifically anti-black violence throughout history. have chapters still have taken here chapters but often times only think of white silence we think of the trumps we think of white men and we don't believe think of all the ways that white women are complicit to this violence and so cops serve the interest of those who are in power and so black people can call the cops on white people right but white women still in power at any time any type of this is a comfort to remove black people from public spaces and that's also goal of policing is to remove black people from spaces in which white people feel uncomfortable and we see that in d.c. we see that across the country we see when judge a vacation is happening that the first thing that happens is you see a influx of police officers it's a civic localities to do the process of removing black people and letting them know that they are not welcome in these public spaces which is just you forget that it's twenty eighteen and the entire concept of telling people this sort of forced
8:52 pm
gentrification through police saying. that it even goes on and that what you were saying about white women kind of using the police in this way it brings you know other thing is that it seems that part of white this white privilege especially white women is that we kind of use the police i don't personally because like i don't that's one of the things that i find it hard to understand the motivation to do it but it seems like they treat the cops like they're doormen it's like the doorman of white supremacy and white privilege someone is in my space someone's being too loud so they called the cops and you're supposed to tell this person to be quiet but what does that relationship with the police between white women and white people are so quick to call not understanding the danger not understanding the trauma what does that relationship tell you about how people of color are treated by the police. as opposed to how white members of society are treated but to have the history of being the doorman for white people that's what they are and
8:53 pm
. the best way for us to get past some of this is to acknowledge this this is their role like a lot of people are trying to have an argument from both sides you know like well you know the cops you just on his job well you know this little black girl if she was a little white girl she would be an uprising she would be entrepreneur and she would be taking her destiny it's in her own hands and you know give us some type of metal but no it was a black girl so that white woman felt like she was out and she didn't belong there and she she she called the cops so it's like. it's been like that like it's been like that and it's going to be like that you know you know i get frustrated when we have this conversations about reform because it's like stupidity like this like you should you know it's ridiculous is there a point where we need to start do you think we'll get to a point where law enforcement will start treating these kinds of things that what they either frivolous they waste the cops time they came from from doing things
8:54 pm
they're supposed to be doing is there a point where these things that you need to get a fine when you do this when you call the cops or pretend to call the cops and do these things it is that i don't do it when i look at his criminal justice the criminal justice system is really really important to the infrastructure of america as you know the way we currently set up and need certain people to be in trouble and that's what these police officers do to keep their going right my answer is no no no because again mike i think that to your point where you say like people not being ignorant the fact of what cops do i think white people are well aware of what cops do and they are they're well aware of police brutality and police violence and we keep having these conversations as though people are not knowledgeable about these things when they are and so police do act to police black people and poor people immigrant people and people who are other by the state in public spaces so she knew exactly what she's doing and people who do call the cops know exactly what they're do. and i want us to remove law enforcement from communities and and fund
8:55 pm
and divest from policing and so that police officers don't have money to function and respond to these types of calls that shows that the nature of policing is not to prevent crime it's not to protect people it's a protect people was to it's used to protect a class of people and so i want to reimagine what the source of policing is and what we should be using policing for any we should be using policing which to answer to me is no we don't need police is right now where we spend money. and they're not even doing it that's the thing that's we don't have enough money to solve murders and rapes and we don't have enough money to do rape kids but we have enough money to answer every call by every water right over a bottle of water she didn't even have only for me she doesn't know she was you know she was a really sort of business no and she's a follow federal laws doing our prison serving oh well that brings me to the sara sanders thanks so serious and sara how can you sanders was asked to leave a restaurant this weekend because. the staffers were uncomfortable and owner gave them the choice do you want to serve and she politely asked her to leave
8:56 pm
and she laughed and of course she tweeted out from her press secretary account about this business and there's some been all that. with the sarah sanders incident also you know you have two major cabinet members and major members of the trumpet administration has spoken out and spoken pretty racist lee racist about the border crisis and they're going in a mexican restaurant some people are giving them a rough time there i mean it's disobedience but it's relatively so during scald civil disobedience for a reason it's really it's really hard for him and you've got. michael we only have everything in power in the world but let's cry about it some are now what the washington post editorial board actually to let the trump team piece that down that road lies a world in which only the most zealous sign up for public service and that benefits no one let me ask you first is it really a danger we need to worry about that making public servants be responsible for the
8:57 pm
actions to the public when they're in public that will only have public servants are actually dedicated to their morals and ethics and willing to face the public is that a danger that will suddenly have people no i don't i don't think that's a danger i think it is the responsibility of the public to hold elected officials accountable and you know while people my reverse even say well black people were in the lunchrooms or what have you i think. one needs to be on the right side of history and that what the administration is doing is outwardly spewing bigotry out really spewing racism and i think that needs to be directly confronted i think the reason why we have the trump incident is because to this day people still take it as a joke they don't know understand the strategic strategy he's using to acquire more power to acquire more money and so they use these distractions of sanders and all these other cabinet members to distract from what's actually happening and the trump regime and i think the more that the right moves right and does not operate
8:58 pm
on the levels of civility the more that the left or whoever else feels compelled to should act in civil disobedience and. that is how we change a country that is historically how changes happen throughout the world is through civil disobedience and people looking at something and saying this is wrong i'm actually not going to sit for this and so i think that is the responsibility of the public if you can vote them out you directly confront them in make people feel uncomfortable and that racism is not allowed here and that's where maxine waters is not allowed here and we're not going to welcome that and people can play both sides but the matter of fact is there's no two sides to racism there's a system that is in place and people need to acknowledge that and recognize that and so i support people who are doing civil disobedience let me ask you we've got about thirty seconds left is on that same point isn't this whole civility thing really just code isn't that really just a code word for gentrify like there's a way to act in certain people if you're in a position of authority you can't question them and it's just
8:59 pm
a brute she should be lucky that you don't want to eat in a place where people hate you you don't know and all of the payment because of the people across it sorry to have you do it or yeah but you're hurting people all over the world so you grow up and go you know. like i mean that's a very we all have to just take responsibility for things one in this day and age when you know how trigger happy cops are you know that they're not thinking to put a child or a mother's life in danger by calling the cops like that in a situation i think is wrong and you have to accept that there is a rape there is racism whether it's institutionalized and you don't realize it you've got to take responsibility for that thank you so much for both of you being here today and keeping this conversation going walk ins and then a machine thank you so much for the veil. as we go to break watchers don't forget to let us know what you think of the top of the coverage on facebook and twitter see our whole shows at r.t. dot com coming up sean stone speaks with the author of john d. and the empire of angels the sixteenth century scientists who said he angels to the queen to watching.
