well earlier my colleague jacqueline vegas spoke with matthew barrett who's a co-founder of the photography project goal click which documents football culture around the world including in russia he began by giving more details about gold clicks work. currently active in around ninety countries for russia we decided to do a bigger project looking at the real russia so we found a photographers from all over the country from god to you catherine involved. and we asked them to document the country through their own eyes head of the world cup with this particular collaboration what russian football story impressed you the most i think it would be the ural mountains it was a very unusual set of photos which really reveals grassroots football and russian culture through through the game and the photos that we received from the euro mountains were fantastic really looking at how soviet infrastructure
12:32 pm
and soviet football infrastructure has developed into the twenty first century now obviously russia is hosting the world cup right now one of the main reasons you're here i can only assume why is focusing on football at this time a good way to get to know the real russia so i think it's. what this world cup really was a chance for us to do was to tell some stories about as you say the real russia and the ordinary people in russian society a lot of the focus quite rightly in the lead up to the tournament is on the stadiums the infrastructure and the teams and the world cup itself what we want what we really want to do. was tell those on told stories and really give russians a chance to give their own first person perspective on their own country so that's that's a really important part of go click bringing through those stories in an unfiltered
12:33 pm
way. and you've done similar projects in other countries like you're listing there at the beginning including in war zones have you noticed anything common in term of football stories to all these places some sort of string that goes through everywhere yeah i think there is one thing i would say particularly about what the russia projects has surprised me with and that is how similar russia is really to a lot of other countries i think there's a perception maybe that russia is very different in some way to the rest of the world and particularly to europe i think one of things that came through particularly was thirty five between urban and rural town countryside a lot of the same stories that we hear from around the world. in europe in asia in russia there is that difference between you know investment into football in in urban areas first is kind of the rest of the country we've also covered projects in iraqi kurd kurdistan and rule and tackling alleged legacy of genocide.
12:34 pm
and so. what i think that all of these projects show in whatever country are in is that you really can understand people through football. i wouldn't say that there's a common cliche that football somehow you know it's everybody i mean i'm not saying that for me actually shows the differences but it. is a way of people understanding one another culture looks like how another people acts because when you tell it through the lens of football it's so much more relatable even when there is differences between you know the cities themselves the big cities in the areas do you still find the love for football what it can bring to a community even if it's just a couple of posts in an empty field that's not been mowed in however long i think.
12:35 pm
the other thing that comes through with the russian photos we've captured is the passion for the game exists in russia even though there might be a lot of cynicism around the game in russia and that comes through as well there is still passion there and in almost all of our photos from wherever it is in the world the there's normally a positive message coming through even sometimes tragic circumstances and the legacy of war the legacy of conflict well this evening portugal class with the clash with you are going to install cim you are going to fans have already been to a number of russian cities during the world cup one of which seems to have made an especially good impression. i. i i. i. i i.
12:36 pm
12:37 pm
and you want to find out why. i'm a. little . my. remark you know i think that you know who he is if they don't believe you're losing you know in the mail with young fellas i'll tell you. i mean that. you. meanwhile the question was how they waited for hours outside the hotel he was staying in in sochi just to catch the

briefest of lives as if the footballing superstar. well over the turns off the ball much is have to use their fast provides more opportunities than you might expect as found in such explain to us. it's very easy to into russia with a fan id it gives you access to the country the trains and the train and it gives you discounts in many shops this is perfect for the tourist that's right and he's very good idea to everybody do we fight before the game that's right we're going to . have everything was perfect i didn't have a new problems i've been to various places moscow st peter's book sortie i went to different matches. coming up after the break donald trump refuses to rule out recognizing crimea as part of russia i would have more on that in just a moment stay with us.
12:39 pm
so what we've got to do is identify the threats that we have it's crazy for and let it be an arms race is on all sides spearing dramatic developments only really i'm going to resist i don't see how that strategy will be successful very critical time time to sit down and talk. you know world of big partisan lot and conspiracies it's time to wake up to dig deeper to hit the stories that mainstream media refuses to tell more than ever we need to be smarter we need to stop slamming the door on the back and shouting past each other it's time for critical thinking it's time to fight for the middle for the troops the time is now for watching closely watching the hawks.
12:40 pm
welcome back now u.s. president donald trump says he does not rule out recognizing crimea as russian the province rejoin russia in two thousand and fourteen but is still considered by western countries to be a part of ukraine artie's the american have more on the development. on board air force one on friday trump spoke to reporters about his upcoming meeting with putin when a reporter asked him if he recognized crimea as part of russia he said quote we're going to have to see but then he blamed obama for the entire crimea to awful saying that it was a shame that obama gave up crimea now to remind the viewers of what happened in crimea back in twenty fourteen
12:41 pm
a referendum was held with international observers present and ninety seven percent of the population voted to secede from ukraine and join russia the west refuse to recognize this plebiscite and then impose sanctions on russia and then separate ones on crimea but just this week we also heard from another u.s. official john bolton who said that trump wouldn't recognize crimea as part of russia so conflicting views coming from the trump administration which seems like basic protocol at this point but these statements come a few weeks before trump summit with putin that's scheduled for july sixteenth in helsinki finland but this isn't the first time that trump has discussed relations with russia during the g. seven summit trump said that russia should be reinstated let's check out what he said i would rather see russia in the g. eight as opposed to the i would say that the g eight is
12:42 pm
a more meaningful group than the g seven absolutely trump also said that he'd be discussing a range of other issues with president putin including alleged election interference syria ukraine relations with china and russia to possibly deescalate the conflicts going on in the world but until july sixteenth we will know exactly what happened so we'll just have to wait until then. it's not just crimea causing friction between russia and the west for example sanctions on the square pals poising have also soured ties russia's foreign minister touched on both of these issues in an interview with britain's channel four news. can. present he didn't give any assurances that the upcoming midterm elections if you know it's time will not be meddled with by the press or something because we can't look intelligent or discuss something which is based on highly unlikely will it
12:43 pm
might be. the best a geisha in the united states has been going for problem the euro because no. diary to the internet research the russian troll factory has a thirty second video in that is something which requires a thorough and then just. submitted their old case and their chips which quite a number of things which were used for the so let's not jump the gun. it was loose carol but i don't think that the logic of the who said sentence forced verdict later i don't think this logic is going to prevent this whole russia election meddling hysteria according to sergei lavrov is a prime example of a new and trendy mentality kind of act to accuse stern figure out later with the investigation into the russian interference in the us presidential elections still ongoing and in his opinion insert your lab robs opinion this approach prevails on
12:44 pm
the global geo political scene right now and they've even led to this quite peculiar exchange between him and the journalist. there are many in the west who say that the chaos whether it spreads it whether it's cause whether it's from the white house a book at all in other words if not all of it before leaving the cycle here it's a difficult for stepping away actually since with that the president is also into that later but the chaos or they would want an unseemly this does the chaos benefit russia as some in the west said. you have to be over the. historical through. the logical for. you because goodness it's russian government weeks before the presidential elections and the months before the world cup what the what do you say from alleged chemical attacks in syria to the us
12:45 pm
elections i mean geographically wise sic users have found russia's fingerprints well pretty much all over the world standing out of those cases they always the case of this crippled poisoning back in march if you don't remember. a former double agent for the u.k. and his daughter were found poisoned apparently by a very powerful nerve agent in the u.k. city of the sales berry and the u.k. is adamant russia did it. the british state of a coverup of this whole incident i don't exclude this one as long as they don't give us information you know that about russian citizens citizens who have died in london during the posters all altered cases have been investigated in the secret for we don't understand why. the united kingdom but the political from what is going on it's an interesting situation whereby the country which is leaving the
12:46 pm
european union has determined the european union pulled a sort of rush when they were ready for all you know look at all some of the europeans you know say you must expose the russian diplomats you must expel them so they did most of them some do now again official london has been maintaining that it was only moscow we had both motive and means to carry out a poisoning like this one when it comes to a more generic story line of the interview sergey lavrov also has stressed that in his opinion we are already living in what he calls a post to west to work and as for russia's role in this post west world he says that more school plans to play a role on equal parts an equal role with other players in this whole thing so when it comes to some predictions for the future for some forecasting there you have it . well there is all the headlines for you this hour thank you for joining us and
12:47 pm
we'll be back in about thirty minutes with the latest to see you then. for a world cup twenty eight team coverage we've signed one of the greatest goalkeepers of all time but there was one more question and by the way who's going to be our coach. you guys i know you are nervous he's a huge star and a huge amount of pressure come out you have to be the center of the football with you and we will show you all the great game the greatest good you are the rock at the back nobody gets past you we need you to get the ball going let's go. alone. and i'm really happy to join for the two thousand and three and world cup in russia. this special one was also appreciated me to say the review the r.t. team's latest edition to make up as we go. look.

12:49 pm
covering american news are called foreign agents and we're going to be well know the corporatocracy is steadily tightening its grasp the insanely wealthy get richer every dagen the poor get exploited more and more sixty three percent of americans can't afford a five hundred dollars emergency yet on the other end of the spectrum the rear end of the facts remain if you will and you should and was done ahead jeff bezos is now worth a record a hundred and forty one billion dollars meanwhile worldwide one in ten people only make two dollars a day to not have debt do you know how long it would take one of those people at two dollars a day to make the same amount as jeff bays always has a hundred and ninety three million years and that they only buy single ply toilet
12:50 pm
paper. and yet there are riots in the streets for the most part right at least not in the us what like why are we ok with it why we sitting here why look like look outside to look like everyone's going to work at gunpoint no we're all choosing to do it so what is what is happening well i'll tell you it's a myth we're all sold myths that are in grange our social programming from birth when i had still soft these men are exempted and basically never questioned so i feel it's my job as year resident fly in the ointment in your your your your turd in the punchbowl your your your rank spot in the bed i'm getting it is my job to lamb all out there for you so here are the great myths the odds against this time. misnomer and we have a democracy if you think we still have a democracy then i have
12:51 pm
a subtle nuance performance by kevin hart for you to check out alright. if you think that we still have a democratic republic ask yourself this when was the last time congress did something that the people of america wanted that was not in the benefit of corporations. you probably can't do it right it's like it's like trying to think it's on the run to the oranges i know it's got to be there no it's not there congress congress doesn't do a damn thing without the approval of their sugar daddy even the carter center and former president jimmy carter believe that america has been transformed to an oligarchy a small corrupt elite group control the country without much input from the people here's a rare photo of that group of elite men. not the not the most attractive group of felons and the whigs aren't really doing any justice are. the rulers need the myth that we're
12:52 pm
a democracy to give us the illusion of control speaking of illusion of control myth number seven we have an accountable and legitimate voting system. did the man during voter purging data mining broken exit polling push polling superdelegates elect or about black box machine voter id suppression provisional ballots super bag dark money third party banner from the debate into corporate body that stand for the same goddamn pile of bad it got an apartment again. we want god to. cyclists yet again i said does not. know we have what a large part study called the worst election system in the western world the other seed is never seen with what a parent has a like a baby car seat in the baby has a tiny steering wheel so the day can feel like there do. arriving you know that when our election system is done it's
12:53 pm
a toy steering wheel not connected to any say and we're all going to find. the steering. and believe it or not that's why we have to vote we have to vote in such numbers that we beat what's stolen all right myth number six we have an independent media that keeps the rulers accountable. if you believe we still have that then i have a segment c.n.n. segment critical of the american empire to show you. get it done is that the needs of our media. our media outlets are funded by weapons contractors big pharma big banks big oil and big fat hard on pills are right now are you to go hard on hard on pills but we can't get anything resembling hard news because it's funded by. the corporate media's jobs are to rally for war here for wall street and froth at
12:54 pm
the mouth for consumerism it's their mission to actually fortify belief in the myth i'm telling you about right now anybody who stepped outside that paradigm is treated like that. standing on a playground where nothing but a trench coat all right we have heard this thing up from a free and open press myth number by we have an independent judiciary. if you believe that then i had a very important historically significant intellectually satisfying episode of survivor to show you. in fact the criminal justice system has simply become a weapon wielded by the corporate state this is how bankers can foreclose on millions of homes illegally and see no jail time but activists will serve jail time for a pardon given an ugly look tell bank. chris hedges no doubt if the most basic constitutional
12:55 pm
rights have been a right for many our judicial system as ralph nader has pointed out has legalized secret law secret courts secret evidence secret budgets and secret prisons in the name of national security if your if your not part of the law need class you're pressured into releasing what few rights you have left ninety seven percent of federal cases and ninety four percent of state cases and in plea bargains with defend is pleading guilty in exchange for a lesser sentence which brings me to myth number four the police are here to protect you. then say kid you the breastfeeding baby if you need they're your friends that's funny i don't recall my friend pressuring me into sex to get out of a speeding ticket i mean he tried but it's. not a good salesman all right he has a bit of us gutters so i just thought he was laughing when he kept saying half and
12:56 pm
like what's so funny. the police. and i would think are the police in our in our country are primarily designed to do two things protect the property of the rich and perpetrate the completely immoral war on drugs which by definition did it a loser on our own people. we lock up more people that any other country on earth meaning the land of the free is the largest prison state in the world. so all these droopy faced politicians and rabid talking head telling you how awful china is on human rights or iran or north korea none of them match the numbers of people locked up right here under lady liberty's current and i. look on the bright. why if you're a human rights abuse tourist want to see some real good human rights violations
12:57 pm
real jobs you don't have to travel far one e right there down to money on life you know the baggage fees have gotten us. myth number three dying will make you happy this image has put forward mainly by the flood of advertising we take in daily but also by our social engineering most of us feel you know that that emptiness that alienation deep down for a while thought it was gas but. deep down and it's actually because we're flushing away our lives and jobs we hate before going all to seclude and boxes called houses or apartments living on the t.v. to watch people who seem to have it worse than we do which is actually quite hilarious. before that what i mean after that we pass out and then we do it all again the next day if we're lucky we'll make enough money during the week to afford enough beer on the weekend to make it all make sense. i find it takes about
12:58 pm
four beers. everything starts to add up after four but that doesn't truly bring us fulfillment so what now well the ads say buying will do it try to smother that depression and gasp aeration under a blanket of flat screen t.v.'s purses and jet skis now there's your live band meeting now well maybe you need to go a little faster on the gen scale crank it up to and then now are junk and when you base your flies off you'll feel alive. we have to believe the myth that consuming is the answer or else we won't keep running around the wheel and if we are running around the wheel then we suddenly have time to do this thing thinking and we start asking questions arise. and those questions are not good for the banks gers at the top myth number two. if you were a card things will get better if you believe that then i have
12:59 pm
a lance armstrong charity you should donate to. not only is it generally not true that if you work hard things will get better but it lets you look at what really means it really matters in life no amount of money will make you content ask yourself what we're working for to make money for what almost none of us are doing jobs for survival anymore i mean once upon a time jobs are alive i plant the food and then i eat the food and if i don't do that i'd die. but nowadays if you want to get a cafe well someone die if they don't get their super calf mocha frappe on and pass latte. i kind of doubt they're going to keel over from a blueberry scone deficiency i don't think they have happened will you die if you give if you don't serve them one if you work at macy's with a customer perish and if they don't get their boxer briefs with the sweat absorbent fabric. kind of down it and if they do die from that they have problems far greater
1:00 pm
than. if you could have known so that means we're all working to make other people rich because we have a society where you have to work technological advancements can do most everything that truly needs to get done nowadays and according to delight it's just index survey eighty percent of people are dissatisfied with their jobs and the average person spends ninety thousand hours at work over their lifetime about one seventh of your life so if we wanted to we could get rid of like most work and have tens of thousands of more hours to enjoy our lives but we're not doing that at all and no one's allowed even question not even to. talk about it not an amazing man always delayed even to have step like universal basic income is barely talked about because it does not compare with.
