donald trump defends his summit in the finnish capital with glad to be a putin after his negotiations with the russian president sparking outrage in american media. partner i don't know which side is the bride and which side of that is the groom enters a bit of store sort of feels like we're in a wedding you have been watching for out for the most disgraceful performances by an american president today's press conference in helsinki was one of the most disgraceful performances point in american president in the memory. from media storm to syrians that's almost as russia's defense ministry says it's ready to implement all agreements achieved by triumph and putin and house thinking on how to bring stability and peace to syria. and facebook admits classifying thousands of russians as interested in trey's it supposedly for advertising
3:01 pm
purposes raising concerns over who might really want to targets that it chooses. a very warm welcome you are watching r.t. international with me in the key erin now our top story this hour donald trump asked completed his european trip which began at a nato summit and ended in a historic meeting with vladimir putin now the u.s. president is set to meet with congress members however they may not give him the warmest welcome. my mouth is still agape i can't believe he's thoughtless it's dangerous it's weak but i think it is just for a small child to. do the number one enemy we probably have on the globe let me.
3:02 pm
each of you will go with. mine but. it's inexplicably. or maybe it's not it's a big hairy terrible outstanding question is the possibility that a president who holds damaging information over president trump and american media joined in on denouncing triumph for how he handled the joint news conference on faith america. and some it has the entire country up in arms and to give you an idea of what it's like here i have two newspapers to show you a number one the washington times here's the headline trump sides with putin over intel and it gets worse number two the daily news open treason trump backs enemy putin over u.s. intel so in this political climate if you don't support increased escalation between two nuclear superpowers well it's considered treasonous but going back to
3:03 pm
the press conference itself trumps pragmatism and constructive additive was appreciated by russia judging by the comments of some russian statesman but when trump was bombarded with questions regarding alleged russian meddling trump chose to focus on building relations between the two countries and his slogan for the summit quote i would rather take a political risk in pursuit of peace than to risk peace in pursuit of politics this is also appreciated in anti-war circles in the u.s. but how did the u.s. media respond well let's take a look there's a reason there is a big national freak out happening right now over what the president just did in public why do we have putin pitched a shutout trump got beat up in a locker room where is he about you mr president you seem to saying only good things about your enemies was shocking it was appalling there was a real sense of defeat and. you have been watching for have for the most disgraceful performances by an american president he showed cowardice on the world
3:04 pm
stage where the president looked like a weak don't be stooge we negotiated from a position of weakness yesterday and a lot of our putin walked away from helsinki with the when he had a chance to show loyalty to the men and women in uniform and instead he betrayed them it's a disaster some u.s. politicians took to social media to denounce the summit entirely even calling for the u.s. military to act representative steve cohen said. where are our military folks the commander in chief is in the hands of our enemy but then cohen backtracked on his words saying that he didn't call for a coup so we're left with one question why is d.c. so hostile to peace well we'll just have to find out what happens in congress well tom defended himself from the attacks and perhaps he's favorite way through twitter he stressed that he has great confidence in u.s. intelligence which has repeatedly stated that in russia meddled in the two thousand and sixteen election but trying to take on focus on the past as the two nuclear
3:05 pm
superpowers must get so long we spoke to former congressman ron paul who believes that american media are used to portray russia as an enemy but you also mentioned so far in this program about the american media and that is a big problem because for some reason they're almost unanimously endorsing the idea that we have to have an enemy and at this point especially for the last twenty years they've been working very hard to make russia the anime and i think this is this is wrong and it's not the democrats alone that do this it's the democrats then along with some disgruntled republicans who just they just don't like trump but no i was very pleased with what went on and it's a step in the right direction they i think the biggest thing that if it ever had a serious discussion i guess it would come out on how much we've been involved when we should be involved for instance in ukraine and how that occurred but if they don't have want to concentrate on those problem they want to look forward i think
3:06 pm
that is great but i would like to i think the next best step ever would be for us to reassess this and say that term is going in the right direction and talk i'm in the getting rid of the sanctions on russia meanwhile vladimir putin took part in a heated interview with the american channel folks news in which he was pressed on key issues relating to russia. firstly russia is a state that has never meddled in the internal affairs of the us and in particular has never meddled in its elections at all secondly but. let me answer have some patients to distinguish between being we think that it was possible to meddle in the us elections in the territory of russia and to influence the choice of millions of americans. it. it's ridiculous. at the prostitution but i'm not asking whether they influenced i'm asking whether they try
3:07 pm
i will answer now what. the hackers about whom everyone was talking about i will turn to it do not warrant. e-mails as they told us and there was information that inside the democratic party but there were manipulations in favor of one of the candidates and that is all and that the leadership of the executive body of the party resigned so they wanted this fact and that was the most important thing in all of it that the manipulations of the us public opinion must be stopped and they had to apologize to the voters what now mr miller mr president let me answer. if you don't like miles tell you then and i will stay silent but if you want to americans to hear my opinion and have more patience they are going to be getting mr miller and his colleagues. but why mr miller and his colleagues let me finish speaking of the disrespectful this time you won't stop me.
3:08 pm
relations between the u.s. and russia the hostages all of your internal political struggles. and. we want to be given some documents on this issue at least some material as you see no one is saying anything specific that it's like in the case of the accusations against us over the meddling in the us political process to be we had not given any documents and now we see that people became the victims of the so-called but i had not even heard the names of these people before you are these people from what did they suffer and why. picked up the bottle that was used to attack scrupled i can't may i ask you one last question sir. but let us handle this this you first what bottle who picks it up and from where and what is its chemical formula. you know and whether there are different reasons for which these people have suffered and maybe these reasons are inside the u.k.
3:09 pm
. but no one wants to investigate this properly just through empty accusations and for what sake why worsen the relations between our countries when russia wants to build them with the u.k. properly so look at it. you'll see this as a quite by effort of the effort by the west in recent years to isolate russia. we see that these efforts do not see any success and they could never have seen it given the size of the violence and russia and the scale of global security and in economics and i mean energy costs are part of the world's economic system in that the understanding of what is uniting us and on what we have to work together at all is leading us to the idea that it is necessary to stop the attempts to fight each other and on the contrary to unite our efforts for overcoming common difficulties and problems i think it is a good start. to start. after his talks with president putin in
3:10 pm
helsinki donald trump met with the u.s. congress members well he says he misspoke or russian meddling during this summit. it should have been obvious i thought it would be obvious but i would like to clarify just in case it wasn't in a key sentence in my remarks i said the word would instead of what. the sentence should have been i don't see any reason why i wouldn't or why it would be russian so. just to repeat it i said the word would instead of what. the sentence should have been and i thought it would be maybe a little bit unclear on the transcript or unclear on the actual video the sentence should have been i don't see any reason why it wouldn't be russia. sort of a double negative. so you could put that in and i think that probably clarifies
3:11 pm
things pretty good bias. now in the u.s. media speculation of whether donald trump is actually a russian agent or not the house think the cement did in fact be some impressive diplomacy one of the issues where the leaders seem to have common ground was syria and russia's defense ministry says it's ready to implement any deals agreed on maria fanaa joined me earlier in the studio with more on this. i'm afraid there is no to much to discuss because there are no details on exactly what has been agreed in helsinki and from what we hear from russia's defense minister right now it's also not clear what steps we may expect from both sides in syria but what is clear is that both russia and us are not interested in making this strategic information public but what is clear that that the dialogue that mr trump and mr putin had in mandarin house in the. plains by russia's military is definitely
3:12 pm
a positive sign for syria. also stressed that they are interested in. ending the humanitarian crisis in syria and they said that they are going to focus their efforts on how pain people in syria that you but i would i think there is plenty to work on a crucial thing is there are many refugees in streets bordering syria in turkey lebanon jordan if we move back to their homes this will ease the migration pressure on european countries i think that is extremely important if we can do something to help the people of syria get back into some form of shelter. on a humanitarian basis and that's what the world was really a humanitarian basis that the both of us would be very interested in doing that and we are we will do the right and what is the current situation in syria right now so as for the military situation the focus the main focus right now in theory is on
3:13 pm
the region bordering israel and the confrontation between syria and israel has been very severe recently and has actually been quite always between the two countries but it's interesting that both fulton and trunk mentioned the security. of israel in that space is following along behind closed doors just shortly after that meeting we. heard reports that the syrian government managed to regain control of a strategic point in that region so it's not a secret that the us has some influence on so we may say that that would be. a reaction to or what the two presidents have agreed but again like it's really hard to speculate right now. let's bring in mike riley now coeditor of b s news mike thanks for joining us on the program now we know that some agreements on syria have been reached but we don't know the exact details at
3:14 pm
the moment do you think we can be optimistic do you think that deals will actually help the country. yes absolutely i thought i think this has been the highlight of the summer actually first will both both presidents need to be applauded for actually holding the summit in the first place despite the cough an ear of. noise from the state strong stronger players in the western corporate media shrieking in unison with plain reserve traitor and treason. accusations leveled at trump. with regard to syria yes no there's not been many details published but there is then goal for president putin and this is will be welcomed by the overwhelming majority the people in syria and that is to gracefully and without losing too much face allow the american military to leave that country i don't think your viewers need to be reminded that u.s. troops special forces from the u.k. and other european countries like norway and. france and germany are in syria
3:15 pm
illegally and there's no u.n. security council resolution and there's no invitation from the legitimate syrian government so i think that's pretty. chessmaster i think and and although there's no details revealed that is the goal and i think if he can if he can shorten the state of the u.s. military inside syria that will be an amazing achievement i think maybe that will happen this year i think everyone knows that the war in syria is coming to an end i think there are those in the pentagon in the big state in the u.s. and the u.k. that would prefer this to go on indefinitely while serious fighting in a civil war israel and other countries in the region know that syria is becoming weak effectively that they're not being able to stop there are actually develop their country. so there are pros and cons of what's happened but on the whole i think it's a really good result i think this regime in syria does improve hopefully it does do
3:16 pm
you think this will ease the crisis. yes absolutely ali i thought this might have happened last year president trump was shown in the video i don't know i think you might have shown as well or alluded to the last year of the beheading of the ability said he was the twelve year old palestinian boy by one of the terrorist factions inside syria and i think that probably move. to a degree the state and the cia could never be moved and so i thought the model been you know that freeze on the white helmet funding and the freeze on arms going to the rebels that might have held a little bit longer i thought but obviously the helmets or the al qaida periodic partment their funding has been reinstated so it's hard to understand exactly what trumps i mean is however i don't think he wants u.s. forces in syria indefinitely then they're not welcome they're certainly not welcome by the syrian government they're certainly not welcome by the syrian people so the sooner they can get the better and i think if president putin can. provide
3:17 pm
a means for trying to exploit the u.s. military and that would be absolutely worth it so but in terms of the refugee crisis yes i think that syria would prefer to have as many refugees returned to the country after all this is been a complete brain drain and obviously the country needs to be reconstructed this is years maybe decades of work to to get the country back on its feet again to rebuild the infrastructure and i think they need syrian people to do that and there was talk of u.s. aid or help in reconstructing syria i don't see that as a serious offer i think the u.s. has a history of bombing places back to the stone age and then reaping the rewards in terms of financial the financial rewards in terms of rebuilding contracts i suspect that most of the rebuilding contracts for syria will either go to syria's allies russia china iran or further afield to the far east but i can't see it coming to the west to be honest. my landie coeditor of b s news thank you for joining us on
3:18 pm
r.t. international we appreciate your insight on the topic thanks. while at the summit of the putin offered robert miller's investigators the opportunity to question the twelve russian intelligence officers indicted by a u.s. court for allegedly hacking democratic party servers ahead of the twenty sixteen elections the president pointed out however that moscow will only do so if the u.s. grants the russian prosecutor's office similar access to accused real u.s. nationals in particular he mentions businessman bill browder whom putin accused of funneling four hundred million dollars to hillary clinton's presidential campaign on tuesday the russian prosecutor's office published a list of people it would like to question well the biggest surprise on the list is perhaps michael fowler former u.s. ambassador to moscow there were also several other state department officials as well as u.s. intelligence officers former british m i six intelligence officer christopher
3:19 pm
steele all of the infamous trump and dossier is also wanted for questioning by russia. we needed to do two years that would make us that we were talking about foreign intelligence officers in particular from the us who shaped the false testimony against the russian national in the case of the us against the previous incomplete he also provided assistance in the criminal activities of william broder a businessman convicted by a russian court we are ready to send yet another request to the relevant authorities in the us to question the intelligence officers and other u.s. officials and businessmen. are complicit in this crimes we can support everything with evidence and if you score the extern to us to get information we're of course ready to provide it within the framework of international cooperation but i want to underline that it should be done on the basis of clarity literally which has often been the case before you. it's only been a day since the u.s.
3:20 pm
department of justice revealed that it had a rest day to move ria pitino a gun activist and russian citizen but some western media are already jumping to radical conclusion it's not a scale of war paint can daters now caleb thanks for joining us can you please update us on the whole situation yes now according to the f.b.i. as affidavit buttin out was attempting to establish a back channel of communication between the national rifle association the republican party with the russian government she's accused of frequently communicating with the russian government and with a central bank in russia she's apparently quite an enthusiasm for guns and firearms quite a few photographs across social media of her with guns and firearms and she's accused essentially of trying to trying to lobby and engage in activities you know trying to influence u.s. politics now interestingly we've seen a lot of u.s.
3:21 pm
media outlets accuse her of spying and we actually heard congressman chris murphy say this in relation to her arrest. an operative was rolled up in what appears to be a coordinated attack against the united states elections by the n.r.a. and the russian government. now it's important to point out that the charges against buttin are related to lobbying and failing to register as a foreign agent as she carried out lobbying allegedly on behalf of the russian government at no point is anyone accusing her of espionage now what's also interesting is if you read this affidavit they refer to the fact that one of her communications with a russian government official was titled posner two point zero now this is a reference to the t.v. personality vladimir posner who then the f.b.i. agent refers to as a propagandist who works in the disinform ation department of the soviet k.g.b.
3:22 pm
often appeared on western television broadcasts during the cold war now this is rather interesting as posner is known as rather harshly critical of both the soviet union and the contemporary russian government so that doesn't exactly seem to line up the other point of information is that her communication with russian government officials allegedly took place on twitter which is not exactly some kind of secret super spy way of communicating with russian government officials so a lot of questions remain about the case but essentially she has been charged with being you know with essentially carrying out allegedly carrying out lobbying activities on behalf of a foreign government and failing to register in the process of doing so her activities are alleged to have been involved with firearms and guns and things to that effect i think kind of more painful for the update.
3:23 pm
not just the latest from the u.s. after his talks with president putin and how think he don't try met with the u.s. congressman when he says he misspoke and russian meddling during this summit. it should have been obvious i thought it would be obvious but i would like to clarify just in case it wasn't in a key sentence in my remarks i said the word would instead of what it means. to sentence should have been i don't see any reason why i wouldn't why it would be russian so. just to repeat it i sent the word would instead of words. and the sentence should have been and i thought i would be maybe a little bit unclear on the transcript already from your on the actual video the sentence should have been i don't see any reason why it wouldn't be russian. sort of a double negative. so you could put that in and i think that probably clarifies things
3:24 pm
pretty good by it's. live now to washington and so michael maloof former pentagon security policy analyst mr maloof thank you for joining us on the program. big confusing isn't it what we see here yesterday we saw a trump in that press conference with. polls that say of saying hey he understood that russia didn't interfere in the election he believed putin now today he's saying quite different things he's saying he would doing everything to prevent russian meddling in we have full faith in the u.s. intelligence what's going on here do you think he's trying to please everyone and how does that make him look. well i think well regardless of what he just said about the translation. and interpretation he did underscore his support for the u.s. intelligence community and in fact the information goes way back even during the obama administration that there was alleged meddling. which amounted to no more
3:25 pm
than social social networking and by by whether it was russian chinese or anybody else in the world and but but he's but he's trying to get above that i think and move on because we've and we not only meddle in the elections we've actually help overthrow governments so i think that if if if he can get beyond this most democrats and deep state types cannot and so and or and and and the neo conservatives they cannot get a book get beyond that they need russia as a demon and but he wants to get beyond that because he has a. longer range geo strategic outlook i think any needs russia for a lot of things and we need to be cooperating with moscow and he's made that very clear and as much as he dislikes nato he says we also need nato but what has what
3:26 pm
has happened there is has happened so i think that he's ready to move on even though his opposition is not they still haven't accepted the fact that he's the president trying to come under a barriers of criticism from the u.s. media since that press conference yesterday and now he's kind of backtracked saying that he misspoke during that conference do you expect the criticism from the u.s. media to stop. no not at all a fact in fact the mere fact that he was going to be meeting with president putin i think was. the establishment the mainstream media was all against you even have even have europeans now who are saying that it was a good thing for for the meeting they recognize the importance of this kind of outreach but you know where he's just going to have his detractors back at home and it's suits their their their narrative to to have this opposition and it's just
3:27 pm
trump anti russian and it also helps the military industrial complex to justify his existence so that he can and we can have a larger military spending so we need a demon right now it's it's russia and probably will remain that way for quite some time and i think that and i think he's also trying to separate himself from. the collusion allegations and what have you and wants to move on and i don't blame him yesterday where speaking with the president pace and he spoke about how he wanted to have an extraordinary relationship between russia and the u.s. and now the day off to haze backtracked he's he's that contradicted what he said yesterday how do you think the russia will respond. well i don't think anything that i what i've heard has not been inconsistent with that after all he will in spite of all the opposition he still went and held the held a summit i think that the devil's in the details we've got to there are nuances and
3:28 pm
i think that there are a lot of areas where he believes still that. having meetings with president putin are absolutely essential particularly on nuclear weapons as he pointed out russia and the united states together. have ninety percent of all nuclear weapons in the world why not i think also he sees he looks at the relationships and. terms of economic competition and the one thing that he sees he is going to need putin with and russia generally is china. because china is rising very very quickly economically and militarily and i think he sees that as the potential competitor if you will. and an economic adversary more than a military adversary at this point but i think that given all the other issues such as syria and iran. is absolutely
3:29 pm
a key player in all that and it's it just makes common sense again remember during the height of the cold war the united states and then soviet union had did not only diplomatic relations but met all the time as president michael money from the pentagon security policy analyst thank you for your time we appreciate your opinion on that matter pleasure now we're going to back at the top of the hour with all the latest so do join us then. join me every thursday on the elec simon shore and i'll be speaking to guest of the world of politics or business i'm show business i'll see you then. you know i think i think this catastrophe of folding in britain for the past

fifteen years or so was its connection to the dea and the ability to have the tele car a c. and yet passport rights into the e.u. you take those away and you have essentially greece on steroids and all those banks and the e.u. and america are going to attack the u.k. mersa play and drive into bankruptcy. greetings and sell you take shit. it's bad enough having to deal with our privacy being violated by a lot of constantly by our friends at the national security agency with our online and phone conversations consistently being sucked up in mosques and stored in a massive and spooky purcel will be in utah seriously pursued in utah look it up but soon we may.
