one of the most disappointing actions he's ever seen from the white house but protests against ice have sprouted nationwide an anti-us sentiment has trickled up to effect trump officials even press secretary sarah sanders and secretary of homeland security kiersten nielsen many by now have heard that i was asked to leave the restaurant this weekend where i attempted to have dinner with my family my husband and i politely left and went home i was asked to leave because i work for president trump. ok you are right right right. really. really this latest case shows that the us is going more and more polarized and it's not just limited to protesters we're now witnessing disagreement between the federal government and the state government which could potentially have very severe repercussions blogger brian logan says the mainstream media has contributed to the ongoing hysteria surrounding the agency. i think he will see more conversations like this this is
1:31 am
not anything new this is been going on for a little wow ever seen chuck get elected and he's people are totally irrational and they're driving largely by the mainstream media because our immediate talks about over here in the states is ice is evil ice is corrupt defender separation was so regular everyday people there are no phone no data to get no say to get triggered and they go about their duties doing largely because they're being programmed to do so so as long as the mainstream media is completely if you continue to see more things like this unfortunately. british media reports claim the mantra serino suicide bomber was rescued from war torn libya by the british navy three years before his terror attack the blast at the ariana grande the pop concert killed twenty two people the youngest an eight year old girl. reports well according to media reports here in the u.k. three years before that deadly attack in manchester sound when

a baby had been rescued by the british government from libya it was part of an operation to rescue british citizens he was taken aboard a royal navy ship and taken to malta from where he reportedly then got a flight back to the u.k. and he'd been rescued by the british government even though he had been under the surveillance of the domestic intelligence agency head that's m i five now in terms of a baby's background he was born in the u.k. but libyan parents say he was a british citizen but in two thousand and eleven a baby's parents moved to join the uprising against the government of gadhafi and his father was thought to have been fighting in a terrorist group called the ally f.g. the libyan islamic fighting group and a baby was thought to sort of shuttled back and forth. tween the u.k.

and libya for a number of years but he was thought to have been in libya in the summer of two thousand and fourteen and at that point the civil war had got increasingly violent and so british officials made this offer to evacuate british nationals from the country that's how a baby ended up being rescued and by the time of his rescue m i five had stopped monitoring him and the implication therefore is that he was simply considered safe to return back to the u.k. that was reiterated to us by the today in a statement they told us that sort of the government inquiry into what led up to the manchester attack it found that the decision to start monitoring a baby in two thousand and fourteen was sound on the basis of the information available at the time and although they didn't mention
1:34 am
a baby by name in this statement to us they did confirm that the operation to rescue british citizens from libya in two thousand and fourteen took place during beauty routine security situation in libya in two thousand and fourteen but the force officials were deployed with the british nationals and their dependents and i think what the government has been keen to point out is that that decision to close the case and invade in two thousand and fourteen based on the information they had at the time the point they're making there is that no one could have known back then that upon his return to the u.k. he would go to war to start this sort of downward spiral of radicalization that word culminate with that horrific attack at the area on the ground a consulate in manchester arena last may. now spain is going to establish a special sentence to identify. migrants' is part of an emergency plan after
1:35 am
a sharp rise in the number of new arrivals this video was posted online showing a boat landing at a beach in the southern city of caddy with the migrants then run off in different directions after making the dangerous journey across the mediterranean. well a number of illegal migrants arriving in spain by boat in the last six months almost equals the entire number in twenty seventeen other countries are also under pressure italy comes a close second and numbers are not predicted to slow down even some of those who successfully make the journey face further dangers in europe a charity in italy says refugee children are being sexually abused when they arrive there they also say youngsters are being exploited in return for basic food and shelter. when we arrived at the last italian station we realize that we cannot get on the train to germany because it's guarded by police to check not only tickets but also the documents for all travelers not knowing what to do we asked for help
1:36 am
from a compassionate at the station waiting for another nigerian girl the man offered to help and said he would child to me in exchange for sexual services. during the trip i was kidnapped my brother was killed in the attempt to free me to his farm bill says that i have been alone with my father's friend before continuing the journey subjective need to riccio and abuse me i was not even eighteen but when we arrived needle this man made me to claire i was nettled and his wife after escaping from my father's friend he began abusing me days of terror what i did nothing but think how to survive. according to the save the children charity almost two thousand migrant girls have been sexually abused in italy since twenty seventeen of those one hundred sixty are children while others either pretended to be older or had recently turned eighteen political analysts runnerup force says europe isn't capable of solving the ongoing immigration crisis i think in such
1:37 am
a chaotic situation. when you have to handle many incoming refugees it's hard to determine. actually what is the present age what is the real age of the migrant the whole migrant system and the way how the authorities take care of those vulnerable migrants all girls. under age of eighteen is very alarming. really for that mac right wrist to come to europe is whole situation shows that the migration to europe is a human tragedy policymakers in that european union national states they are largely failing to assault this problem. three russian journalists are being killed in the central african republic long last after the break.
1:38 am
russia's one of the country's and most by capacity and all the very high population does that mean russia does need to be concerned about this inability i would say yes absolutely you are no lucky situation where you have a lot of farm per person so to say you know you have a lot of wealth ecological wealth and but the word is very scarce so that's a huge economic advantage as well and saying wow this is an amazing farm let's look after it well because that's our said that look at the naval us to live well the long run. what politicians do something. to put themselves on the line to get accepted or rejected. so when you want to be president injured. or somehow want to be rich. that's a going to be press that's what before three in the morning can't be good. i'm
1:39 am
interested always in the waters of my. question. welcome back the russian foreign ministry has confirmed three journalists three russian journalists have died in the central african republic. and then he'll discuss the news with money from the ocean. if an option is with me now on the shooter for more on this. talking in the
1:40 am
previous hours confirmation. not confirm we are awaiting for some kind of conclusion on this we seem to have got it yet it is now confirmed that three russian journalists were killed in an attack while on assignment in central african republic their dead bodies were discovered by un peacekeeping personnel on the ground some twenty to thirty kilometers north. central city all see both on the road and abandoned car also was discovered at the scene stressed with multiple gunshots so it looks like the team was attacked by a large group of gunmen known reasons what exactly happened unclear there. but i guess the investigation needs. to go on the ground buddies of the three journalists were first taken to u.n. facility. and then later transferred to one of the hospitals in the capital city.
1:41 am
and this is where the bodies are currently and we hear from russian embassy that they will organize their return to their homeland as soon as possible and this is the call them and from russia's foreign ministry. diplomatic our diplomats will certainly work with all the documentation found at the scene where the borders were detected the russian foreign ministry is working alongside russian law enforcement diplomats who are in direct contact with law enforcement in the central african republic. ok so what do we know about the group there at the journalist group do we know what they were actually working on what assignment they were all actually it's not quite clear what days simon of these journalists in central african republic was the primary employee they were filming a documentary about foreign mercenaries on the ground some say particulary private walk contractor some mentioned a group known as blogging or was present was never confirmed as present in the
1:42 am
central african republic was never confirmed reportedly it has links to russia if you words about who they were jamal he was well known walker spawn and reporting from afghanistan syria libya iraq he was fifty one years old well experienced journalist forty seven year old documentary director alexander to start ago you know he had been awarded multiple prices for his work very well known i mean name among journalists as well and get a lot to go he was a cameraman the youngest of the team he was around thirty three years old all you know very professional journalists experienced and as their friends now say colleagues are very brave and passionate let's now listen to what. friend told us i told. him those who promised to protect them would fool them but now it does not matter the central african republic is an extremely dangerous place for white
1:43 am
people especially without military protection they do research dangerous things mercenaries and there is a civil war in which a person's life cost nothing not a penny unfortunately my friend from a victim to this war you just feel for their families getting getting not call her but their loved ones don't to. but thanks for bringing us the latest update on this . facebook has removed thirty two accounts and pages including on instagram which the media giant believes might influence the u.s. mid-term elections in november. today we removed thirty two pages of the accounts from facebook and instagram because they were involved in coordinated in authentic behavior this kind of behavior is not allowed on facebook because we don't want people or organizations creating networks of accounts to mislead others about who they are or what they're doing well facebook says the deleted accounts were being used to organize protests next week in washington yet the instagram accounts had no followers and for the facebook pages had ten or fewer followers. well
1:44 am
facebook says the pages went to far greater lengths to cover their tracks than the russian based internet research agency supposedly had in the past well facebook says it doesn't know whether these new bad actives are linked to russia or not however it says there is evidence of v.p.n. use and use of the accounts i third parties the social media platform found no evidence though of russian ip addresses be linked to the pages in question but a new round of accusations of so-called russian meddling have erupted in the western media russian actors continue to try to disrupt metal infiltrate the u.s. political debate if not the elections themselves well russia is interfering there continuing to interfere russia has been mentioned as the likely source of this interference in attempts russians and other nation states absolutely are attempting to manipulate us the executive director of the ron paul institute daniel mcadams says space book is blaming russia despite an absence of evidence based look at so
1:45 am
in this press release today said we haven't done really an investigation we don't know the facts we don't know who's behind it but then the next answer said but it looks a lot like what the russians did before so obviously they admit that they have no doubt but by golly it's going to be the russians again trying to sow divisions among americans this is the conclusion they make their information comes to them from their partnership with the atlantic council the atlantic killed solis funded by the us government is funded by nato is followed by the us military and it's funded by us defense contractors this is an absolutely or con rabidly anti russia think tank in washington d.c. these are the people paid by our governments that determine what we're allowed to see on facebook and they say that is the horners meddling in our free speech it's actually u.s. funded quote ways i think takes in washington that are meddling in our free speach
1:46 am
. the french parliament has squashed to no confidence motion is brought against him and you might cause government these came in response to the president's handling of a scandal involving his former bodyguard alexander been allow was filmed dressed as a policeman attacking a demonstration during the may day protests are too shy to do bensky reports at the center of those motions of no confidence is one man alexander pope and he used to be a security aide to president michael and now he was filmed during the may day protests violently aggressing some of the protestors and as a result of that of this scandal that's ensued politicians all serious with the actions of emanuel much corn and his office well we now know that an investigation is already taking place into what happened back on those may day right now a new video has emerged and there is a new investigation into that video that video which was obtained by little ass on
1:47 am
which is a paper here in france appears to show woods' claim shows. at a different point in the protests and it's alleged he went on to violently aggress two individuals. you. heard from but now on this particular subject he says it's not him in the video he also denies that during this meet a protest that he was wearing a police cap or police insignia and he said that he is willing to appear before the parliamentary inquiries into his actions on may day well what happened on may day well as we saw from the video was originally released about two weeks ago we see him individually charging a woman down the street and then later we see him hitting
1:48 am
a man on the top of the head very aggressively and. what appears to be him stamping that man in the stomach as he falls to the ground and there was a massive controversy when this president hasn't spoken must be on the subject but he has said that the actions of the no was seen as a betrayal and he feels that he's sucking with sanction. i'm proud of having hired alexander banal and he made a mistake a real one a serious one that felt like a betrayal i told him so everybody makes mistakes so the response must be in proportion with it well many people are questioning why i. didn't have to know us sacked at a time why it took this media frenzy to whip up this storm why it was that which was the point at which he was sacked and there's the result of that that is why we are seeing seeing these two motions although no confidence in president and in the french government over this entire affair and given a sense to give you
1:49 am
a sense of how serious this is it's the first time that we have seen a double censure take place since around nineteen eighty. well we'll be back in just over half an hour with the latest news but for more time. with no make this manufacture consent to the public well. when the ruling classes protect themselves. with the famous merry go round listen to the one percent. nor middle of the room signal. the real news is really. you know
1:50 am
world of big partisan food lot and conspiracy it's time to wake up to dig deeper to hit the stories that made stream media refuses to tell more than ever we need to be smarter we need to stop slamming the door. and shouting past each other it's time for critical thinking it's time to fight for the middle for the truth the time is now for watching closely watching the hawks. hello and welcome to crossfire we're all things considered i'm peter lavelle on
1:51 am
this edition of crossfire we consider one question is donald trump's america first policy in contradiction to the washington consensus idea of american exceptionalism the answer to this. question will likely define trump's presidency and change the world in the process. cross talking american exceptionalism i'm joined by my guest michael flanagan in washington he's president of flanagan consulting and a former congressman in charlottesville we have david swanson he is the director of world beyond war dot org and in northwood we cross to introduce paul maher he is a professor of international politics at city university london all right gentlemen crossed the rules in effect that means you can jump in anytime you want i always appreciated let me go to david first because he's written a book on the topic titled curing exceptionalism ok we have about a year and
1:52 am
a half of this presidency i'm getting a pretty good idea what america first means in the mind of donald trump and i know very well what american exceptionalism is and i'm i'm not a big proponent of it. are is donald trump incompatible with his american firsts policies with washington's insistence. and digging their heels in very deep that american exceptionalism must be maintained go ahead david in charlottesville. i guess the short answer is no i don't see it i look at what donald trump does in terms of foreign policy in terms of continuing u.s. imperialism and he is dropping more bombs he is building more bases he is getting more military spending out of congress demanding more of military spending out of europe shipping weapons to more places including ukraine continuing to insist on the u.s. right to do what it wants in places like ukraine and nicaragua and around the world
1:53 am
he's not switching policies allowing the people of afghanistan or nicaragua or anywhere else to decide their own fate i mean the changes are all rhetorical and and in terms of manner. sums and style people in. people abroad outside the united states who see him as radically different because he blurts out things he doesn't act on like nato is obsolete seems to me as superficial as people within the united states who say the people the vote in crimea to rejoin russia was the big threat to peace and stability in the rule of law of the past centuries. looking at actions rather than at. ment's i don't see it continuing us policy but the good points made there michael none the less we we have the reaction of where you are this the epicenter of the
1:54 am
swamp they see trump is being very much a threat to the outlook that has been cultivated and enforced i would point out since the end of the second world war particularly since the end of the cold war so i mean michael is right on all these points here but that's not how the people that we used to run the show see it that way and they're pushing back against them in very very severe very peculiar ways and in particular using the media to push against him go ahead michael. yeah i think the swamp has a collectivist view definitely denies american exceptionalism writ small and that is america has the best workers in the world and we have an exceptional view of our future and we are we are you ourselves as the shining light of the world and then you have experiment exceptionalism written large which as a matter of foreign policy means that we'll run the world. the i think writ small trump is a huge champion of that writ large i think your other guest is correct he's he's
1:55 am
not he's not a big champion of america run the world in the sense that we will make foreign policy for the world but we will behave any way we need to to protect our security and that that is often irrespective of what nicaragua wants or what what anybody else wants and i think trump is definitely a proponent of that the swamp would rather have us collectively sit with the european powers basically you know europe almost exclusively and and discuss what we need to do around the world while we pay the freight and they make the decisions and i think trump is trying to bring an end to that by threatening nato not not as an institution like eisenhower did by the way in his presidency but to say that it's not an organization that we're going to support exclusively and move on forward with interchange a you know i think combined of what we've just heard from michael and david so america first american exceptionalism they have to find the worst possible elements
1:56 am
of both and they're being can bind that's what i've gotten from this conversation so far go ahead and norwood northwood i don't think i would violate li disagree with. the you just. i think american exceptionalism is a is a particular kind of nationalism and that nationalism has attached to it a great sense of the uniqueness ends of theory art and to a large degree insoles of that by what is behind certain kinds of values and now. where president trump probably it differs from his previous esas by president obama and george w. bush as well is that in a way he's he's rejected the rhetoric of values of democracy or human rights and promoting those kind of liberal values in favor of the kid up so i would say that that's the principal difference between those two there is also a strategic disagreement as well and i think that largely is around.
1:57 am
the relationship that the united states or president trump is building with russia and the bigger geopolitical picture i think which he has in his mind possibly by and reconsider the home secretary of state about some kind of a possible russian chinese splits and i think there's a big disagreement about that but that's a strategic question the overall united states continues to exert its up but i think the rhetoric around values i think president trump doesn't have any time he's much more about asserting or are out of the dollar or of the trade of market access and of the american military ok well david i mean it i guess in a way trump is probably more honest than his predecessors because he doesn't talk about democracy promotion as you know but that it's always been a cover i think only people in the swamp actually believe in that rhetoric anymore forcefully bringing democracy to the world i don't see where it works no one's ever
1:58 am
empirically proven it to me but but so really it's the same thing. it's american exceptionalism with the just a different rhetoric i guess you know that makes a lot of sense go ahead david. that's exactly right the rhetoric has changed a lot more than the substance of the disagreement between the make america great again people and the america already has great people is not around the need for the united states to have double standards and a set of laws only for itself and superiority the rest of the world that is universally agreed upon in washington the disagreements around rhetoric around domestic policies and around russia and the demand from the from the democrats i wouldn't dignify it by calling it strategic it's more trying to explain hillary clinton's loss and hating anything trump does so if he threatens north korea that's crazy if he fails to threaten russia that's crazy you know that the disagreement is
1:59 am
is around this this mythical story of the evil deeds of russia and their gargantuan significance in the in the context of the good us law abiding behavior and there you know you can give trump credit for refusing to bow to the russia gaiters otherwise i give him very little credit for anything. as he continues disastrous policies that are taking this country and the rest of the world over a cliff you know again. the rhetoric is is certainly different but and some of the actions are too i mean i don't think any of us really took seriously that there would be a meeting with kim so soon nothing much came of it and now he wants to meet with the iranian leader a days before in capital letters on twitter threatening and i mean michael how do you explain that or is that just expediency the midterms it's the here and now and worry about the implications later because i mean from the on the outside looking
2:00 am
in this is very confusing and we're supposed to be experts to be able to figure this stuff out go ahead michael. i think one of the hallmarks of trump's foreign policy is that it's trump it's not a collective view of the state department with weigh ins from d.o.d. and other places and intelligence it's trump it's and he's proven to be fairly adept at it so far however you may may or may not like the outcomes he's gotten in with create he's reworked trade agreements in europe and elsewhere some of it has been to our total benefit some of it has been a conciliatory benefit. we enjoy a relationship with china we haven't had and maybe ever. i don't know that that what he's doing is confusing bad evil wrong or fattening but what i do know is that it's in his head and it's been working with us far on the talking diplomatic level and so i'm not prepared to throw it over just because i.
