a crack in them but i would i would remember oh that's from the war center was afraid she was saying she was afraid that the suction really was going to be there and he was in the soldiers have to us every year when we went back for several years she had those feelings. couple years after the war i believe that eventually other countries would learn to recognize that georgia was at fault in this war especially after the european commission came out and said that georgia started the war. i thought for sure that other countries would follow suit with russia to recognize the independence of south said and i was very disappointed that they didn't.

is. an issue of more that i'm a little bit in. the construction of this fence between georgia and south the sense here started straight after the war however the border line hasn't been fully fenced. for russian border guards to be stationed along the border to help with security. just. listening to any sort. of you know show. that. there is no thought of we no. longer in useful. the.

mystery of. the borderlines were defined by rather old maps which just didn't reflect current reality in the border called the village and so some of the inhabitants remained in south ossetia while twenty two people found themselves living in no man's land. since then they've been living between two checkpoints they're not allowed into georgia and they need a special pass to enter south of. this border checkpoint has been set up specially for them. off which is great. if that is true this is the. this was less school to both exist visions of them to school with and. you know she. was fired from.

washington announces new sanctions against russia over the script poisoning case accusing moscow of using a biological weapon but once again present no where the. u.s. senate asked to interview the head of wiki leaks on alleged russian meddling in the trying to fix the election julian assange has been paid to deny had anything to do with the election related documents the brits posed by wiki leaks. and social media giants are accused of silencing debate after twitter suspend several prominent libertarian and conservative figures for alleged hate speech. we meet a woman who faces a lengthy jail term for terrorism the following as been to syria where he joined
10:21 pm
islamic state. thanks for joining as you're watching r.t. international. we start this hour with breaking news because the united states is unveiled new sanctions against russia over the poisoning of double agent and his daughter in the u.k. in march of this year the new penalties are expected to come into effect around august twenty second according to the state department and some serious accusations have been thrown in moscow. the united states on august the sixth twenty eighteen determined under the chemical and biological weapons control and warfare elimination act of nine hundred ninety one that the government of the russian federation has used chemical or biological weapons in violation of international law or has used lethal chemical or biological weapons against its own nationals.
10:22 pm
american is our correspondent in washington d.c. samir what do we know at this point about these new sanctions. well the so-called russian puppets new sanctions against russia will come in two rounds now the first round will limit financing and exports of banning licenses to export national security goods but the second round of sanctions that's due in three months or so could affect hundreds of millions of dollars in exports and if imposed will cut diplomatic ties to russia and all arrow flights to aeroflot flights to and from the u.s. and stop all imports and exports according to reports however the second round of sanctions will not be imposed if russia provides assurances that it will stop using chemical weapons and commit to on site inspections by the u.n. but what this ultimatum says is that russia does not have the luxury to pursue and innocent until proven guilty russia has already been implicated in the crime but
10:23 pm
here is also something to keep in mind about the ultimatum last october the u.n. verified the destruction of russia's chemical weapons and through on site inspections and also confirm that all of russia's chemical weapons facilities were closed so yeah it looks like the u.s. will be a sanctioning russia for allegedly using chemical weapons the u.n. says it doesn't have i think something of the viewers will find interesting is that the u.k. government was unable certainly up until this point to produce any evidence to confirm a link between the poison and russia to find any link between the boys in an origin country does this mean these latest sanctions mean that the u.s. of mind to do what the u.k. couldn't. well at this far there's been no evidence implicating russia so not sure what the us is doing exactly but this all began when a former double agent and his daughter were poisoned back in march another chop was determined to be the agent used and immediately the u.k.
10:24 pm
and the rest of the western world almost instinctively blamed russia because the agent was originally developed in the u.s.s.r. but since ninety one it's been developed in several other countries now russia has denied any involvement and has even offered to cooperate in a full investigation but the o.p.c. w. and porton down the british laboratory that analyzed the samples could not identify the source or country of origin as in russia can be implicated. no verify the precise source so typically do not tell you to look cool down to say where it is from we haven't yet been able to do that. not as analysis. p.c. w.'s repeat what i did to find the country. of origin of the agent used in this attack it also comes at a very interesting time senator rand paul at hand delivered

a letter from president trump to president putin to apparently a strength in bilateral relations so we're just going to have to wait and see how russia react to this and what the global response will be many thanks americans our correspondent there in washington with the latest. bring in a guest now to speak to us and said he's the executive vice president of the races center good to have you all know we have heard the details very early stage information at this point about these latest sanctions what do you think the u.s. is actually hoping to achieve through implementing these. i'm. a good question i'm not sure and why is the u.s. taking the lead on this versus the u.k. . we already know there's no evidence we've already had a p c w an important down says if there's they cannot identify the source. there's still a work going on. i think we need to look at things from
10:26 pm
a much greater geo political situation versus just. just this descriptive case cripples is being used as a mechanism but. or let's say lack of true scribbles because even the most public feel it's a false flag and it's not there's nothing that justifies that. but look at everything going on we've got. you've got issues going on in syria you've got the g. scipio a sanctions are getting a lot of pushback you know withdrawal of the u.s. and threatening even their allies you've got. things are not going well and even in iraq it looks like the pro prime minister who knows how long he's going to stay in office that's not feeling good which is pushing iraq would put a lot of time into closer to to iran as well. so it does not look
10:27 pm
good for him in the middle east as far as u.s. direction and obviously russia has had a significant hand in putting down all qaeda and isis. and. blocking a lot of things that. the u.s. establishment had in there so there's you look at it from a broader political perspective if your political goal. were kind of feeds into that as well as that showing trump is strong he's not he's going to still a lot of pressure from congress and the media here so. so it kind of coupled with that as well but clearly there's no evidence that ties russia to this and i think most people realize that they do not. and in the case of just did just continue to fall apart. that is the biggest geopolitical picture just when you make any connection at all with us mid-term elections which is sort of creeping up on its
10:28 pm
own and there's a lot of russia talking general leading into those elections and very good point very good point. you know there's concern the. i'm sure the the whole even though there is pressure i don't think i do not see the russian investigation ending anytime before the election although there is hope that it does but i do not see that ending beforehand. but there's going to be a lot of pressure on with the elections coming up so i think the other part of this is that the u.s. wants to show more confidence to show that he strongly against russia and and even though he's meeting with putin i think that's another reason why the follow up kneeling meeting sense will solve until sometime next year. so there's the elections. absolutely there's a great point there is a difference the geo political area of the election. definitely has
10:29 pm
a role in this as well i think. moscow thus far has offered to assist play some role in the probe what do you think the reaction of the kremlin will be now at this point do you think they will take a more aggressive response or not. i think. i think. you know i i have a huge respect for the foreign ministry and putin and how they've handled the area probably the most grown up war diplomats out there. and most professional as well the i think bill discuss this and in all. i don't think we want to back into a corner in your down a direction we don't want to it's difficult to go out because it could lead into a very dangerous direction. but at the same time you need to take some steps some
10:30 pm
measures to counter that you know we already taken some steps you saw. the persecution away from the u.s. dollar the treasury bond we've seen internal diversification on trade as well and strengthening trade with with other personnel so i think they are taking steps as well but they need to be i don't think we want to take an adverse step that's going to cause greater conflict and that something could lead into something that we really don't want to go to. earl appreciate your time my guest this hour early rasmussen executive vice president of the regime and a thank you. on to other news now wiki leaks the legal team says that julian the son just considering the u.s. senate's formal request to testify but only if it conforms to a high ethical standards the senate intelligence committee wants the wiki leaks chief to answer questions on what it calls russian interference in the twenty sixteen.
