with us in d.c. in studio this time and we look at the business of flying cars as r.t. correspondent trinity charges joins us from new york but this time we've popstars the program with the markets the standard and poor's five hundred revenue as an earnings were huge in the second quarter of the year topping ten percent year over year we reported on many of those earnings right here so it might not come a surprise that stock markets are doing well but as we reported here yesterday last time they are doing exceedingly well and yesterday the s. and p. five hundred reached a new historical high plus yesterday the equaled the longest bull run ever in history today stocks were mixed but there's no mistaking the monumental milestone that has been reached and here to put it into perspective is our friend henry ford which the c.e.o. of straw mark hillary thank you as always for being here what do you make of this welcome about well it is very long and there have been other long runs as well though let's not forget the one nine hundred twenty s. one nine hundred sixty s.
7:31 pm
as well and also of course there was the clinton bump in the one nine hundred ninety s. i think one thing that's obvious is that reduce stocks when you lower stocks so when you have taxes when you know it taxes it always results in a great stock market and you'll injection of exactly i think it's i think it's two things it's not just the boom in the fuel injection absolutely but it's confidence is business confidence you've got more money in your pocket and there's also a degree of certainty that's one of the great underpinnings of this economy the certainty because of the daybreak elation and of course lower taxes is going to help this continue you know what one weird thing is that so we talk about the i agree there's certainty but how weird is it and we don't cover the russian investigators. and colin and all that but how weird is it that you get these things out there going on in the news somehow may impact the president the united states at the same time you have the markets like this i mean it's got to be sort of a you know a put people. quandary as to the mix of what's going on right i mean that's not
7:32 pm
certainty no no it isn't and i think that's actually one of the things is if you have to say to me what will happen in the future nobody knows if anybody knew that they've they've you multi multi multi billionaire but i think one thing that will happen is if there is any degree of i mean there's not going to be an impeachment but if there is any degree of shaking of trump's agenda that would reverberate in terms of a stock slowdown the market likes trump the den and why not the business community does it and that surely as you say the tax cuts that was the big ones got the other things the regulatory actions and also there was a certainty i guess sunday and also don't forget the repatriation that's one thing people are talking about as much anymore the repatriation of millions and millions of dollars from these global corporations that have taken their farms off seas and are now reinvest in the back in the u.s. it's not just the money it's the jobs it's the ripple effect and how that will go throughout the economy remember the sectors of the booming one of the sectors that's booming is the real estate sector and you think about seven of ten of the
7:33 pm
the fastest growing industries are related to construction that's not just home construction that's business construction that's finishing that's everything end to end in the real estate industry why because of the confidence because of the underpinnings and everything we just talked about and when you talk about sectors other than real estate pretty much stocks and most of the sectors doing ok any better technology than others yes actually mining everything really actually ironically everything related to mining services up by forty four percent as the sage works essays work for the financial reporting company up by forty four percent what is that that's everything related to the whole mining industry in terms of oil and gas unbelievable well it's a stork we're really pleased you're able to help put it in some perspective or story forward c.e.o. mark thanks for your art. there is trade news on at least two fronts this week as chinese official visit washington and the president elect of mexico takes out a position on the renegotiation of nafta the north american free trade agreement
7:34 pm
president elect andress manwell lopez obrador or on low as both fans and critics have tagged him is reportedly opposing the inclusion of a chapter of energy in the rewritten nafta mr lopez obrador is concerned that an energy chapter in the new nafta would effectively lock in a set of twenty thirteen oil sector changes that he opposed during his recent presidential campaign meanwhile the economy minister for the outgoing mexican president said earlier today that he expects to announce a bilateral nafta rewrite get this in the next couple of hours and keep an eye out for any breaking news on that front and also on trade chinese delegation led by a commerce minister is expected to meet with their u.s. counterparts here in washington still this week to talk tariffs just as both sides trade tariffs go into effect hope for a breakthrough remain low but we'll keep our fingers crossed. and now we shift to

crypto currency markets continue as they continue develop including crypto link derivatives and futures markets and one trading platform seems to be getting a big head start on those potentially lucrative secondary markets the chicago mercantile exchange group or c.m.e. group uses bitcoin futures they are the activity at c.m.a. group platforms doubled in july it is kept up that pace in august flying high even as the price of bitcoin has stumbled seem green group is by far outpacing competitors at the chicago board options exchange or siebel and the online exchange quine base the folks there at the group led by chairman and c.e.o. terry duffy they know what they're doing c m a group futures are now trading at a monthly rate of thirty thousand bitcoin equivalents with coinbase and siebel way behind eleventh out. and five thousand respectively and a third aspiring player in crypto currency is the intercontinental exchange owner of the new york stock exchange and ice futures u.s. that ice future europe is making some expected moves they will find themselves in
7:36 pm
the cryptocurrency related products market here soon here discuss krypto said morris christi i have counterparty x. crypto there has been this thank you for being here thank you so we know there's been this great competition between cboe and c m e but give us a little bit history of how are they both doing now we reported those volume numbers but what are they doing to try to get ahead of each others yes so c.b.o.t. and c.m.e. group both launch their big point futures derivatives markets last year in december at approximately the same time so their volumes have been quite some march and april this year when see any group started to pull ahead of the market so because of that both of these exchanges right now are under tremendous pressure to gain traction because it is very rare for the sip for very similar futures products to thrive in more than one venue at a time and so this is expression crucial because as you mentioned ice will be launching their futures product in the near future as well in november they're in november this year so their product is slightly different this is going to be
7:37 pm
physically subtle versus c.m.e. and c.b.l. which is more cash settled so there are some key differences between the contracts and things to visit at least some of the shells and i know there's a lot for much of the regulator if you're physically settling or oil you better watch out because you might get barrels of your fifty thousand barrel ten thousand barrels of oil so would it actually the bitcoins actually be if it's physically settled that means you actually get bitcoins at the end if you took delivery yes so that is a big difference huge difference so you actually get the bitcoin so you future price appreciation of that big point that you receive at the end of the contract versus c.m.e. and c.b.o.t. where you get around that actually investors might like exactly and that's going to be a key component future as well. it seems to me you know when you talk about c. bo and c m e there are one category but then the other category is corn based and there's others but any thoughts about point based there that. light touch

regulation. but who are some of these other players or what types of exchanges online exchanges are there or are there out there it is their problem primarily as we've been discussing liquidity liquidity is a huge problem because low liquidity results and market volatility especially when there are large orders on the market so until this problem is solved that's actually going to prevent institutional from coming into the market because a large player like a j.p. morgan are blackrock or even like a small hedge fund if they come into mark and they want to keep even a one percent position of their portfolio into cryptocurrency as they will be shifting the entire market so it's very difficult for these funds to buy from an open exchange right now even some of the large exchanges based out of china like bias they don't have the volumes are in the goody two for these traders because traders they need liquidity because they want to know how long it takes to get into a position and how much it costs to get in and out of the position so right now the only alternative venue is the o.t.c. market right now so. over the counter correct so like for us we recently had
7:39 pm
a client who wanted to put ten million dollars into into work in the quarter currency market so we took ten million dollars but it's like how do we put ten million into kryptos without drastically shifting the market and having to buy at higher lows with each buy so that's going to be a tremendous difficulty and the only way to do this is over the counter by calling individual brokers so right now there's a huge network of brokers behind the exchanges right now working to negotiate individual settlements between large buyers and large sellers the problem with this and the reason why it doesn't work in the long term is because it's not transparent no one knows the amount of volume and no one knows the discounts or the premiums that they're quoted and you have to go call five or ten different brokers in order to get like a quote or a picture of the market to know like if whether or not you're getting a good deal how much of a premium. how much of a discount so it makes the entire o.t.c. market very opaque and that's why traders would prefer to buy on an open exchange of possible well that's a problem though to see markets as we learned from the credit default swaps that
7:40 pm
were traded o.t.c. based on housing mortgages and bundles of those were a problem back in two thousand and eight but yeah but it's a quandary how do you how do you like you say ten million bucks in bitcoin or digitals you have to infuse that carefully into a market otherwise you are well the markets before we go i want to ask you about your former employer j.p. morgan big story i forget if it's in the financial times or the journal today but i think front page of the the business section and it talks about how they are going to be competing with america traded charles schwab a lot of us have seen those commercials on t.v. about the low cost of trades and they don't offer free trades j.p. morgan chase who would have thought about it what do you make of this and many other big global banks get into the act one hundred free transfer or new customers so the only only one hundred exactly exactly so they're going to use a lot that's a lot so they're offering this as an incentive to attract new customers so they can attract new customers to start investing and putting their money into part followers and attracting new clients so they have
7:41 pm
a lot of competitors especially from new players into the market which are using technology players such as advisors who actually don't really charge fees or say like robin hood free trade one hundred percent free trade commission so they're they're competing with a lot of these like newer silicon valley. finance then tech place where actually all ring life super low cost trading and that's especially going to come head to head with the crypto currency market where trading fees are essentially almost nonexistent unbelievable you're always so interesting it's great to have you here thank you kristie i have counterpart it and time now for a quick break but stay there because when we return we'll have the latest in cyber security with todd shipley the c.e.o. of vera software who's here in d.c. with global cyber experts plus. trinity charges joins us from new york to. look at the business of flying cars as we go to break here are the digital g.'s set the closing bell be right back.

you know world is a big part of the market and conspiracy it's time to wake up to dig deeper to hit the stories that mainstream media refuses to tell more than ever we need to be smarter we need to stop slamming the door on the shouting past each other it's time for critical thinking it's time to fight for the middle for the truth the time is now for watching closely watching the hawks. welcome back updating an indian story we covered many times fugitive celebrity jeweler modi and his alleged role in the spectacular collapse of the p.

and the the point job national bank has now surfaced in the united kingdom mr modi as members of his family have also been charged by indian authorities with engineering a fraud scheme that p.n.d. including bogus loans to foreign companies leading to p. and b.'s collapse mr modi led india in february and charges against the modi as were officially announced in may by the indian central bureau of investigation or c.b.i. after rumored sightings in a number of countries c.b.i. says mr modi's presence in the u.k. has been confirmed by sources that interpol and an official extradition request from c.b.i. is pending and more flush times mr modi was a regular on the. list of the wealthiest indians and was known for decades decorating and socializing with celebrity clients. and as we get to another story from india we note the horrendous flooding in the state of kerala which has taken the lives of more than four hundred people and displaced more than a million since august eighth we send our condolences and hope for the best in the

7:46 pm
prisoners folks in jails have launched a strike over issues including labor practices that they compared to modern day slavery working through groups including jailhouse lawyers speak and the incarcerated workers organizing committee the incarcerated activists incarcerated activists that is have issued a list of ten demands they don't have any hostages but their list the ten demands that include being paid prevailing wages in the state where they work though few people are aware well known corporations including mcdonald's whole foods and victoria's secret have profited from the labor of some of the two point three million people incarcerated in the united states apr. policy initiative survey shows that in a number of states mostly in the southern u.s. where nations are racial injustices are more prominent imprison people work for zero zero pay in the state of california they recently deployed and imprisoned workers to fight fire fighters and for one dollar an hour on release the women who
7:47 pm
fight the fires are eligible to work as firefighters due to their training and we'll have more on these companies that are using presenters to boost their bottom lines in the coming days. and cyber security comes up a lot these days we speak about it all the time it's important for companies that's important for countries that are facing a seemingly endless onslaught of criminals looking to pilfer everything from credit card numbers to state secrets here in d.c. the high tech crime investigation association holding a conference where people in the cyber security industry came to meet and hear speakers discuss various topics and with us and speaking with us intel is one of those speakers that our friend of the show todd shipley is the various software todd thank you so much for being here it's great to have you in studio it's great to be here so tell us all the new and exciting news that coming out of there i mean are are we finally getting a handle on what's happening and what's what are the latest things people are talking about sure i mean getting
7:48 pm
a handle that's maybe there's so much going on and that's what this conference was all about there are so many things in this field that you have to understand there's no one thing that somebody has to know anymore there's so much happening from the io t. stuff the internet of things we've talked about on multiple occasions to drones and where they're falling in the spectrum of cyber attacks or attacks at all and so there's a lot of stuff happening even just basic wife ai investigations traditional stuff was talked about so a lot of things including nation state attacks and how those are occurring and what nations are doing those and how we're supposed to defend ourselves against those so wide spectrum of things being discussed because there's so much to. understand and try to deal with in this space now you spoke to are you on a panel would you give a speech would you to another friend and i were talking about some basic investigative techniques for officers and how to go out and do some of the crime investigation and that was pretty rare received a medal of course of course it always is law enforcement is always got this problem they rotate people through so there's always
7:49 pm
a need for new investigators to understand what's going on so that these conferences we have some very detailed very. cutting edge technology that we talk about but we still have to do basic stuff to bring the newer people in to understand where they need to be and how to investigate these crimes it seems to me todd this is such a rapidly moving space i mean you know just like in the dramas based upon this in movies you know you see something happen and then all the i.t. folks are trying to you know get a patch to fix it how in the world i may know you've got a law enforcement technology background but how in the world do you keep up with all these things well for me it's a little bit easier because it's what i do every day but for the law enforcement investigators it's a very hard prospect staying on top of this stuff that's why we have to have these kinds of conferences where we can provide the information to them up to date information so that they can go out there and fight these battles because it's hard and i do it every day and i still have trouble keeping up with what's going on the
7:50 pm
changes that are out there and that probably goes to your little bit of hesitation on my first question about are we getting ahead of it i mean are we able to confront and confound the cyber credible criminals and i guess your answer might be produced the best we can what we are but i think things are changing i think what we're seeing in the space right now is some huge changes that we're actually at this point in law enforcement where we can stop being reactive and start moving into more proactive actions against where the criminals are doing things on the darkness you know how they're doing the attack stopping those things figuring out what's going on instead of just reacting to a crime we're starting to see this. starting to change it's happening a business is it's happening to government levels and i think this state and local officers are starting to learn that same kind of thing that they're able to actually do some things if they understand the technology better speaking a business as we do all the time every day booz allen hamilton was worded a billion bucks to do this. project with the department of homeland security and
7:51 pm
what's this project it is a billion dollars i can't believe i'm saying this is a billion dollars enough i don't want to say that either but i don't think so this has been an ongoing project at booz allen has had with the united states government for deaf couple of different agencies that they've been working with this is like the fourth iteration of the funding for them so this has been ongoing for some time where they've been helping these agencies start to deal with the problems filling the gaps filling the holes that they've got in their defenses and now this money is supposed to go out and help them build a more robust defense to not only the agencies or the been working with but some more agencies are bringing on to make it better for them to understand how the technology is working to defend the technology of god is a conference finished now are there any more is over actually as we're speaking right now and you leave it tonight you'll even tomorrow tomorrow we thank you so much for spending the time being with us here todd jemele the c.e.o. of various operating straight to have you. here.

and now we move to a flying car is a love saying that flying cars that are joined from our new york studio they are to correspondent trinity charges at trinity thank you for doing this i know you've been digging into this topic for a few days here and what really is the future of transportation and it's it's lack for much better of a word a cool issue but how much money is being invested by businesses in this space trinity. heywire now it's not much of a business just yet but many industry experts believe that it does. have the potential to become a billion dollar industry we're seeing things moving forward from concept designed to actually prototypes being made so huge investments are pouring in from major established companies to tech players and even some entrepreneurs who really believe that this is the future of transportation in november but we acquired
