there's certainty but how weird is it and we don't cover the russian investigation . and call it an all that but how weird is it that you get these things out there going on in the news somehow may impact the president the united states at the same time you have the markets like this i mean it's got to be sort of a you know a put people in a quandary as to the mix of what's going on right i mean that's not certainty no no it isn't and i think that's actually one of the things is if you had to say to me what will happen in the future nobody knows if anybody knew that they've been there they've evolved billionaire but i think one thing that will happen is if there is any degree of i mean there's not going to be an impeachment but if there is any degree of shaking of trump's agenda that would reverberate in terms of a stock slowdown your market likes trump the den and why not the business community does it and that surely as you say the tax cuts that was the big ones got the other things the regulatory actions and also there was

a certainty i guess sunday and also don't forget the repatriation that's one thing people aren't talking about as much anymore the repatriation of millions and millions of dollars from these global corporations that have taken their farms off seas and are now reinvest in them back in the u.s. it's not just the money it's the jobs it's the ripple effect and how that will go throughout the economy remember the sectors of the booming one of the sectors that's booming is the real estate sector and you think about seven of the ten of the the fastest growing industries are related to construction that's not just home construction that's business construction that's finishing that's everything end to end in the real estate industry why because of the confidence because of the underpinnings and everything we just talked about and when you talk about sectors other than real estate pretty much stocks and most of the sectors doing ok any better technology than others yes actually mining everything really actually ironically everything related to mining services up by forty four percent as sage works essays work in the financial reporting companies up by forty four percent what is that that's everything related to the whole mining industry in terms of oil

for any breaking news on that front and also on trade chinese delegation led by a commerce minister is expected to meet with their u.s. counterparts here in washington still this week to talk tariffs just as both sides trade tariffs go into effect hope for breakthrough remain low but we'll keep our fingers crossed. and now we shift a crypto currency markets continues they continue developing clued in crypto linked derivatives and futures markets and one trading platform seems to be getting a big head start on those potentially lucrative secondary markets the chicago mercantile exchange group or c.m.e. group uses bitcoin futures a the activity at c.m.e. group platforms doubled in july it is kept up that pace in august flying high even as the price of bitcoin has stumbled seemed regroup is by far outpacing competitors at the chicago board options exchange or cboe and the online exchange coin base the folks there at c.n. the group led by chairman and c.e.o.

terry duffy and they know what they're doing c.m.e. group bitcoin futures are now trading at a monthly rate of thirty thousand bitcoin equivalents with coin base and siebel way behind eleventh. and five thousand respectively and a third aspiring player in crypto currency is the intercontinental exchange owner of the new york stock exchange and ice futures u.s. that ice future europe is making some expected moves they will find themselves in the cryptocurrency related products market here soon here discussed kryptos at morris christie i have counterparty x. crypto there has been this thank you for being here thank you so we know there's been this great competition between cboe and c m e but give us a little bit history of how are they both doing now we reported those volume numbers but what are they doing to try to get ahead of each others yes so c.b.o.t. and c.m.e. group both launched their big point futures derivatives markets last year in december at approximately the same time so there volumes have been quite some march and april this year when see any group started to pull ahead of the market so

because of that both of these exchanges right now are under tremendous pressure to gain traction because it is very rare for the sip for very similar futures products to thrive in more than one venue at a time and so this is expression crucial because as you mentioned ice will be launching their futures product in the near future as well in november they're in november this year so their product is slightly different this is going to be physically subtle reza c.m.e. and c.b.l. which is more cash settled so there are some key differences between the contracts and things to visit at least some of the shells and i know this worked for my time the regulator if you're physically settling or oil you better watch out because you might get barrels of fifty thousand barrel ten thousand barrels of oil so would it actually the bitcoins actually be if it's physically settled that means you actually get bitcoins at the end if you took delivery yes so there is a big difference here is different so you actually get the bitcoin so you value a future price appreciation of that big one that you receive at the end of the

contract versus c.m.e. and c.b.o.t. where you don't get around that actually investors might like exactly and that's going to be a key component future as well. it seems to me you know when you talk about c. bo and c m e there are one category but then the other category is coin base and there's others but any thoughts about point based there that. light touch regulation. but who are some of these other players or what types of exchanges online exchanges are there are there out there it is their problem primarily as we've been discussing liquidity liquidity is a huge problem because low liquidity results and market volatility especially when there are large orders on the market so until this problem is solved that's actually going to prevent institutional from coming into the market because a large player like a j.p. morgan are blackrock or even like a small hedge fund if they come into mark and they want to keep even a one percent position of their portfolio into cryptocurrency as they will be shifting the entire market so it's very difficult for these funds to buy from an

open exchange right now even some of the large exchanges based out of china like. they don't have the volumes or liquidity to for these traders because traders they need liquidity because they want to know how long it takes to get into a position and how much it costs to get in and out of the position so right now the only alternative venue is the o.t.c. market right now so. over the counter correct so like for us we recently had a client who wanted to put ten million dollars into into work in the quarter currency market so we took ten million dollars but it's like how do we put ten million into kryptos without drastically shifting the market and having to buy at higher lows with each buy so that's going to be a tremendous difficulty and the only way to do this is over the counter by calling individual brokers so right now there's a huge network of brokers behind the exchanges right now working to negotiate individual settlements between large fires and large sellers the problem with this and the reason why it doesn't work in the long term is because it's not transparent

no one knows the amount of volume and no one knows the discounts or the premiums that they're quoted and you have to go call five or ten different brokers in order to get like a quote or a picture of the market to know like if whether or not you're getting a good deal how much a pretty. how much of a discount so it makes the entire o.t.c. market very opaque and that's why traders would prefer to buy on an open exchange of possible well that's a problem with o.t.c. markets as we learned from the credit default swaps that were traded o.t.c. based on housing mortgages and bundles of those were a problem back in two thousand and eight but yeah but it's a quandary how do you how do you like you say ten million bucks in bitcoin or digitals you have to infuse that carefully into a market otherwise you are well the markets before we go i want to ask you about your former employer j.p. morgan big story i forget if it's in the financial times or the journal today but i think front page of the the business section and it talks about how they are going to be competing with america traded charles schwab a lot of us have seen those commercials on t.v.

about the low cost of trades and they don't offer free trades j.p. morgan chase who would have thought about it what do you make of this and many other big global banks get into the act one hundred free transfer or new customers so they don't want to only one hundred exactly exactly so they're going to use a lot that's a lot so they're offering this as an incentive to attract new customers so they can attract new customers to start investing and putting their money into part followers and attracting new clients so they have a lot of competitors especially from new players into the market which are using technology plays such as robo advisors who actually don't really charge fees or say like robin hood free trade one hundred percent free trade commission so they're they're competing with a lot of these like newer silicon valley. finance then tech place where actually life super low cost trading and that's especially going to come head to head with the crypto currency market where trading fees are essentially almost nonexistent unbelievable you're always so interesting it's great to have you here thank you christy i have counterparts. and time now for a quick break but stay there because when we return we'll have the latest in cyber

card numbers to state secrets here in d.c. the high tech crime investigation association holding a conference where people in the cyber security industry came to meet and hear speakers discuss various topics and with us and speaking with us intel is one of those speakers and a friend of the show todd shipley's the of various software todd thank you so much for being here it's great to have you in studio it's great to be here so tell us all the new and exciting news that it's coming out of there i mean are are we finally getting a handle on what's happening and what's what are the latest things people are talking about sure i mean getting a handle that's maybe there's so much going on and that's what this conference was all about there's so many things in this field that you have to understand there's no one thing that somebody has to know anymore there's so much happening from the io t. stuff the internet of things we've talked about on multiple occasions to drones and where they're falling in the spectrum of cyber attacks or attacks at all and so

there's a lot of stuff happening even just basic wife i investigation traditional stuff we . talked about so a lot of things including nation state attacks and how those are occurring and what nations are doing those and how we're supposed to defend ourselves against those so the wide spectrum of things being discussed because there's so much to understand and try to deal with in this space now you spoke to on a panel would you give a speech would you to i another friend and i were talking about some basic investigative techniques for officers and how to go out and do some of the crime investigation ok and that was it was pretty rare received a medal of course of course it always is the law enforcement is always got this problem they rotate people through so there's always a need for new investigators to understand what's going on so at these conferences we have some very detailed very. cutting edge technology that we talk about but we still have to do basic stuff to bring the newer people in to understand where they need to be and how to investigate these crimes it seems to me todd this is such a rapidly moving space i mean you know just like in the dramas based upon this

in movies you know you see something happen and then all the i.t. folks are trying to you know get a patch to fix it how in the world i may know you've got a law enforcement technology background but how in the world do you keep up with all these things well for me it's a little bit easier because it's what i do every day but for the law enforcement investigators it's a very hard prospect staying on top of this stuff that's why we have to have these kinds of conferences where we can provide the information to them up to date information so that they can go out there and fight these battles because it's hard and i do it every day and i still have trouble keeping up with what's going on the changes that are out there and that probably goes to your little bit of hesitation on my first question about are we getting ahead of it i mean are we able to confront and confound the cyber credible criminals and i guess your answer might be produced the best we can what we are but i think things are changing i think what we're seeing in this space right now is some huge changes that we're actually at

this point in law enforcement where we can stop being reactive and start moving into more proactive. actions against where the criminals are doing things on the darkness you know how they're doing the attack stopping those things figuring out what's going on instead of just reacting to a crime we're starting to see this starting to change it's happening in businesses it's happening to government levels and i think this state and local officers are starting to learn that same kind of thing that they're able to actually do some things if they understand the technology better speaking a business as we do all the time every day booz allen hamilton was worded a billion bucks to do this. project with the department of homeland security and what's this project that is a billion dollars i can't believe i'm saying this is a billion dollars enough i don't want to say that either but i don't think so this has been an ongoing project that booz allen has had with the united states government for a couple of different agencies that they've been working with this is like the fourth iteration of the funding for them so this has been ongoing for some time

a startup in california also building its own taxi. aircraft announced earlier this year that it had raised one hundred million dollars in venture funding from several businesses including intel toyota and jet blue airways so this industry is really picking up traction here some of the companies who are trying to get their prototypes off the ground. we started developing our first principle out of whole body and what sort of vehicle it would take to counter the special autonomy as technology is moving us closer and closer to a flying future a future that one had been possible a decade ago simply because the tech back then was just too weak to support the complexity of functions required to safely keep a network of vertical takeoff and landing vehicles in the air but that's all changing and now a growing list of companies are planning to take flight. one major heavy hitters after announcing its partnership with nasa in two thousand and seventeen to explore the experimentation of flying taxis the company recently unveiled its latest flying

car prototype at its elevate summit the company says you'll be able to order flights from the drone like aircraft on it's over up and then you would just be picked up at a sky port and they hope to begin flying demonstrations of starting in two thousand and twenty of course all of this would just happen overnight but in trooper fashion we're pushing forward as quickly as possible. but it isn't the only company trying to get flying cars off the ground backed by google's co-founder larry page kitty hawk flying car company reached the final stage of completion of its kitty hawk flyer back in june the company already started taking preorders for the newest model and will be offering test flights for potential buyers feel closer to fly. this. design for recreational use the vehicle can fly up to twenty mph at ten feet in the air for around twenty minutes if it's fully charged and does not

require a pilot's license there's also cora cora is one hundred percent electric and therefore emissions free a two seated model designed for intercity travels and taxi like services which has been cleared for takeoff in new zealand it's one thing to design and rigorously tested your craft but it's another thing to make it useful to society meanwhile aero mobile is the. bucky and company has been developing a flying car that looks like a plane another jet engine company rolls royce announced in july its newest innovation the electronic vertical takeoff and landing aircraft also known as after . british luxury sports car maker aston martin also announced its plans to develop its version of a luxury flying car the hybrid electric vehicle will be designed for urban and inner city travel with vertical takeoff and landing capabilities according to reuters the model will be capping speeds at about two hundred miles per hour. and while some flying cars are estimated to start at around two hundred fifty dollars
