well the new law took effect on august the first on the list pipelines as critical infrastructure and that's important because it makes trespassing on the ground their belts illegal those disappearing at risk a hefty fine or as long as five years behind bars activists say that a number of off duty police officers were also working for a private security firm to protect the construction site they're no longer working in that capacity activist ted whole believes the new law goes against america's core principles. really think of the right where it is that city as well as the desperation because companies as well as these legislatures. trying to hide how pathetically in america this kind of a law is privatization unconstitutional action that have not been held up in the

supreme court and clearly don't measure up to the law of the land the constitution this needs to be understood as something that should be contained it so that it doesn't spread throughout the united states and so it does not spread throughout the rest of the worlds. you know activists we just heard from ted hall also took part in the pipeline protest the project faced opposition over fears that drinking water you might remember would be polluted indian herd to science destroyed. iris occasions the protests there turned violent with state law enforcers as well as the national guard engaging in standoff with the activists officers used force to disperse crowds as you can see there water coming in what was freezing temperatures hundreds of people were injured some seriously police defended their actions seeing the activists were trespassing rioting describing them as very

aggressive here's ted hall again with his take on done. i believe that any kind of perceived by him if that would ever occur would need to be under incredible scrutiny because it's doubtful that sees the advocates for farmers rights advocates for it landowner rights advocates who are. seeing the climate future are going to resort to that kind of to set it in a civilized approach. french property owners using the online property letting service or a b. and b. are facing legal action for refusing prospective holiday tenants based on their ethnicity french journalist marouane who is all of north african descent claims that when he tried to book an apartment in mar say his reservation was counseled without explanation but the reporter's friend who he describes as having
5:34 pm
a good french name successfully managed to make the exact same booking growing claims it's clearly discrimination his story spread online irby and b. responded to it saying it expressed regret over the incident underlined its opposition to all forms of discrimination we discussed the incident with a french lawyer on a part of us based political commentator. i think there's a problem with part of the foreign committee usa in the large sense today in france which has got a bad image and some people would rather not rent than rents to people who got this bad image and particularly within the north african community music giving some are jews who are racist people who don't want to see enough african post in their house and lot of people will be people coming from africa crime to incivility to terrorism and unfortunately these are some of the reasons why we speak a lot of the north african community today i don't agree with the thing that we can
5:35 pm
sum up the reality of people acting or having delinquent behavior just by giving the roots of this people these have nothing to do this has nothing to do to explain the behavior again i'm not saying the end tire north african community each there are a lot of this is a suggestion that i work with interests and they're not skis that yasser i'm to i'm just telling you there is a problem which has to be settled i have no people from the north african community who are ashamed of what other people in their community and you can see this unfortunate on a daily basis imagine the french person who has no contacts with the north african community who read the press on a daily basis and weeds people who have been committing crimes who have been terror who are terrorists who are advocating death to france or that they hate tracts and every time to read this unfortunately again i'm the first to say unfortunately unfortunately see that they're often associated with a name from north africa now if there are people who are considering that the route

the original behavior the. sexual or at a show or the faith or the own faith is. a good purpose to discriminate they are wrong on their own not respecting the little this is what we have to remind in of in the states which is the state of low. washington's a not happy its allies are shopping for weapons from russia and it's taken to threats or to report things.
5:37 pm
or laws that say that collapsed when the soviet union collapsed because of the us meddling in boris yeltsin and all that's going on they have the skyrocketing alcoholism and so shoulder. here in the us because you have this enormous financial and reengineering to take all the money being printed and put in the pockets of a few folks and leave the vast majority in a state of zombification this is the collapse gap he was talking about the u.s. and the soviet union both collapsed in the one thousand nine hundred ninety period it just took a stake in the us as he describes it you no longer to realize that collapse.
5:38 pm
just coming up to eighteen minutes into the program you're very welcome back washington has hinted it could hit turkey with sanctions over its the station to buy a russian made her defense system the u.s. has also warned against other nato allies having similar ideas. you know it goes against our policy to have a nato allies such as turkey use an asse four hundred system part of the problem with that it is that it is not in iraq for a bull with other nato systems and so we are against the having some of our partners and allies around the world potentially purchase s. four hundred seventy two of your cats is not going to get into that but we have made very clear what could trigger sanctions for other countries in entities around the world well the russian made s. four hundred missile system is capable of hitting multiple high speed aerial targets within a range of four hundred kilometers the deal signed by turkey in russia last year is
5:39 pm
worth two point five billion dollars in the first systems will be delivered next year i'm being looking to bolster its defenses since the u.s. withdrew its patriot missiles from the syrian border region buck in twenty eight fifteen but russia has long time military trade partners from all across the world as the head of the state arms exporter explained. this should give us that i'm looking at the s four hundred as the most advanced missile defense system in the world countries are already lining up to purchase we have gained a firm food hold and sales market took arab countries there is a traditional partnership with india and china our allies in the collective security driven organization also work with military industries on more than. however it's not only turkey going against the grain when it comes to the defense trade to an american the i'd spoken president of the philippines has the
5:40 pm
smithsonian offered to buy u.s. made f. sixteen fighter jets saying buying them would be utterly useless we do not need sixteen it would be totally useless to you but they need to look for some small planes would you. maybe just explaining more what he was saying there. made the offer signed by washington's top brass public during this speech it was a military in a certain money he was out the president then highlighted but the letter from the u.s. defense and state came after officials in washington i made humiliating comments of by his country's. security analyst charles ship bridge twenty earlier the u.s. is pushing arms sales for political leverage would be no from very prominent example of israelis one saudi arabia or another where the united states is absolutely prepared to supply in the state case of israel of course not salah but actually give weapons very advanced weapons knowing absolutely that i will be used
5:41 pm
almost certainly to kill civilians for example of god so on yemen and so really that i think has to be taken with a pinch of salt what we're talking about here is trying to use this as a means of leverage to control the fallen policies of other countries and that's exactly what the philippine president regardless of whether one likes him or not always policies that he has correctly identified that i'm. kay uses this to pressure its allies into staying as allies after all the lets the philippines president objected to basically said don't forget the house is about more than capability it's also about a relationship you buy american weapons you're investing in a relationship. to another story we're keeping a close eye on this week a former nurse who's lived in britain since she was a baby is facing deportation sharne fatalis who was originally born in the car of b.n. and whose father served in the earth force is one of hundreds caught in the suit and wind rushed scandal
5:42 pm
a government policy which wrongly targeted commonwealth citizens immigration status sharyn has been telling her story to r.t. . i had to stop work i lost my job i was a registered nurse i went into financial difficulties i lost my dad in twenty twelve my brother to suicide i ended up stealing monies from patients treated my damelin habit i ended up in personally getting a prison sentence everything just accumulators it was just like a knock on effect people are dying people have literally died of stress people have committed suicide because of this it's been a tough road for sharon a former us who's facing deportation despite having lived here most of her life while waiting for an update on her status she was told she could no longer work and was advised to seek charity help in order to feed her kids if they can just allow me to go to work at least i'm not allowed to claim benefits on the person said.
5:43 pm
you're not allowed to claim any benefits you have no status so i said to her home i suppose to feed my child he's twelve heathen do anything wrong and she said well go online and seek charity the forty six year old was born in germany while her father was deployed during his service in the aria her family moved back to the u.k. months after her birth i mean our family has been connected to to england for years everyone was proud of him being a soldier saw because of my dad's service i shouldn't work my challenge of stuff and i should be pushed into destitution that's it. and i should be proud that he was serving the queen into our live for us. that's a punishment siblings who are born in the u.k. have never faced problems with their status or sharon has been trolled she is not british on the grounds that she was not born within the nation's boundaries sharon believes she has rights to citizenship because of her father's service there's a document called the queen's rules and regulations of the armed forces and this
5:44 pm
control is everything you do wasn't as an army's personnel wherever in the world. and it says in black and white any children children should not suffer from their citizenship nationality problems anything when they were born they should be treated as born under just soil if they. want to hold office and some it inaccurate legislation summary of legislation so he's done in the queen's document as one of the girls said well i'm not nationality trained i said so well away you dealing with me but you give me a british but at the gate so you have me on your numbers that i was born in britain but then i'm not british the home office has previously said that there is no guarantee for children born abroad to non british citizens to claim british nationality even if their parents served in the armed forces sharon now has no choice but to wait for an appeal decision on october the fourth sharon is just one of dozens of descendants of the wind rush generation who have had their lives
5:45 pm
turned upside down by the government's hostile environment policy to clamp down on illegal immigrants i just think it's a racist thing i don't like to preach racism. who is it happening to it's a minority group so if it's a met my knowledge. then i put it on to me says. you're tuned into r t international. here in thirty with your friday evening news do have a great weekend more top program starts right after this.

right thing research shows that for every nine executions one convict is found innocent the idea that we were executing innocent people is terrifying those just knew it wasn't and that we're even many victims' families want the death penalty to be abolished the reason we have to get pellet here is because that's what murder victim's families what that's going to give them peace that's going to give them justice and we come in and say. not quite enough we've been through this and this isn't the way. this is boom bust and we're boom we get out from washington d.c.
5:48 pm
i'm dark children thank you for being on board coming up today there's trade in tariff news much of it related to the auto sector lauren fix the car coach will join us again to discuss that and test those continuing problems this time with their suppliers plus the dr is in the house where once again joined by john mother saw the director of research pricing and purchasing at i.h.s. market about dr copper for a perspective prognosis on the economy and legal journalist molly barrows from national trial lawyer magazine for the latest on today's dangers of facing what are to correspondent actually banks tell us about an interesting and innovative way that some people are getting their gasoline all that ahead but first we had a few headlines in another sign of the times china has passed a remarkable milestone reaching over eight hundred million internet users according to the china internet network information center or c c and i see the group as
5:49 pm
monitor internet usage and related figures since one nine hundred ninety seven and then their fortieth annual report they find that fifty seven point seven percent of the chinese population is online with thirty million additional chinese individuals logging on in the first half of this year alone interestingly c c n i see found that only one point seven percent of chinese internet surfers use nine mobile devices to go online and they're all using phones the south china morning post found in their china internet report that there are three times as many mobile based internet users in china as in the united states over five hundred sixty million chinese now use their mobile devices to make payments according to c.c. and i see that's twelve times the number of consumers. who regularly paved the mobile in the united states. german auto parts maker continental eiji has issued a profit warning serving notice that they expect tariffs and slowing demand in europe and china to darken the economic outlook for twenty eight team continental
5:50 pm
stock fell more than thirteen percent on the news marking the worst single day for continental shares since two thousand and nine continentals warning and the reasoning behind it convince some investors to sell stock in other auto parts makers such as goodyear bill layo perelli and michelin sending shares lower on carmaker stock prices which waned in trading continental also pointed to twenty billion euros about twenty three point seven billion dollars the company has invested in q one and q two of this year to develop new manufacturing technologies for the many types of parts it makes suggesting better returns could be in the near future. and u.s. commerce secretary wilbur ross has announced that the trumpet ministration is suspending implementation of proposed tariffs on imported vehicles that's welcome news for many in the auto sector including
5:51 pm
a newish organization the driving american jobs coalition comprised of eight auto industry associations which want to have a singular and clear message about their concerns related to the imposition of tariffs the coalition stated that the proposed twenty five percent tariff would quote have a devastating impact on the automobile and parts industry and they say that up to seven hundred thousand u.s. jobs could be lost and nearly sixty billion dollars of gross domestic product could also be lost they also said the terrorists could increase the average cost of a u.s. vehicle by four thousand dollars and in testimony today here in washington at the u.s. trade representative's office there's a hearing on tariffs and the senior vice president for government relations with the motor and manufacturers association and wilson made the case that tariffs could have a more negative impact on the u.s. economy than the administration may understand auto industry jobs of increase for the last five years as companies with have also increased their capital investments
5:52 pm
miss wilson said we should be focusing on retaining and growing those jobs interview with marketplace ms wilson said she was quote cautiously pessimistic about the current circumstances. and here to discuss is lauren fix the car coach who is also the president of the car utility and truck of the year award lauren thank you for being with us what do you make of this stuff all the trade war that some of those numbers that i just talked about about jobs lost maybe there and like you know def con one horrible circumstance they think they seem pretty high but we don't want any jobs lost i suppose what's your view well understand i mean think about it half. the dow jones is half of those stocks are automotive related something half of the d j i a that's a lot so there is an impact to even everything not counting firms marketing firms you know food services travel so yes there is an impact but in the numbers that many jobs know right now from what i can understand based on how we've seen
5:53 pm
president trump operate this is just a tool to get the chinese to send listen you can bring your cars in our country and we're not going to over tariff you and then we'll match that here and of course you saw the e.u. jump right on board saying yes let's talk about automotive right away because that's the one that's going to impact them the worst especially germany because they bring in receiving b.m.w. audi folks wagon and other brands that are built in germany and they certainly don't want to lose money from the u.s. because we are still the largest auto market yeah why was it i'm just reading about you know the german exports and they don't china is number one but we're number two i mean we are a huge market for for them let me ask you about auto parts suppliers you know i've been around probably too long i remember back in the days of what they the acronym was the moss talks back in the mid late eighty's on auto parts from japan but how it how important and depended are u.s. automakers upon foreign auto parts lauren well just you know about sixty two
5:54 pm
billion dollars is the automotive aftermarket industry it's a lot and i do a lot of work with the automotive aftermarket industry and i can tell you that they're all fighting but you have to remember it didn't make hurts as the cars go down the production line they also make the repair and service parts so the thing that they don't want is they don't want chinese perks coming in from other countries what are repair guys working on a car and he has a choice of going to his favorite auto parts store and getting it for five dollars versus ten dollars from the dealer and our original part that belongs on the car you know what they're going to do they're going at the cheaper per because it creates higher profit margin and the problem is these parts typically are inferior . a lot of components and parts you can see this year so when you buy a product that's built in china versus a product that's built in the u.s. you're going to get better quality product here and you can see that when you look at some of the brands that are built here and so this is something that i think they're very concerned about the automotive after market wants the products to become to come from the u.s.
5:55 pm
but also as cars go on the production line you know the unions want this they want jobs and those jobs are based on the automotive aftermarket and the industry itself you know unfortunately i mean if you're god hundred percent right of course you are you're the car coach but you know a lot of these products even though they're more flimsy may be made in china but they they do end up putting us up parts suppliers out of business and then the only alternative you have is the inferior albeit cheaper product and once the other competitions gone that maybe it's not quite as cheap as it used to be and that brings us to suppliers lauren and and sorry flyers have become pretty vocal in their opposition they're concerned rather about tesla their financial circumstance and there was a a survey reported by the wall street journal earlier in the week and what do you make of it what are the suppliers concerns about tesla you know if you step back and stop looking at all the excitement that's on twitter and all forms of social media i mean it's kind of not helping his company at all when internally they have
5:56 pm
asked for suppliers especially smaller suppliers to extend the terms which are already are extended over one hundred twenty days and he's saying we might have left him and terry that would typically be parts for the system for repairs to be returning get a credit of course manufacture so i called up we made the specifically for you based on your tool and what are we going to do with all these parts and so they need money to in order to pay their employees and so smaller companies that i do know a few of them that have supplied that still haven't gotten paid or are very concerned because without that they can't pay their employees and it could put them out of business and we're very concerned about what's going to test so we get the q three numbers will know whether there is a future. not it's so easy to say that the saudis here are interested but they've already backed down the chinese are not interested in their vehicles and that affect their showcasing a competitive be able this weekend at pebble beach so there are already saying we don't need you will just make our own back and so we're going to see a lot of competition which might hurt him and then losing that tax credit will also
5:57 pm
her brand very interestingly and lauren before we let you go let me ask you one other thing and new news out that ford is recalling some of their fusion energy with a g i at the end i guess their electric cars what's that all about these are the charging courts that go into some of the eat products they sell that are plug ins so from the from the car to the wall or from the car to your charging station they're saying that there's potential fire which means something to do with the production of the product which obviously is not made internally it is a company that's helping get the parts from china but we'll find that out soon and they'll be sending out replacement cables to those people that are affected and let me say just for our viewers so you don't get freaked out about if you have a ford fusion these are the two thousand and thirteen to two thousand and fifteen cars and their energy cars with a g. at the end so those are the ones you've got to check check on lauren fix the car coach and president of the two thousand and eighteen car utility and truck award of the year thank you lauren thank you. the u.s.
