industry to be more lies which is generally quite positive but also the other big trend that we are seeing is the rise of enforcement cases but also new regulatory frameworks for example over the last couple months regulators of from around the world have taken action against a lot of the bad actors in the space which again has been relatively well received but what has been really interesting barth has been to see some countries really come up with crypto friendly policies to try to become the powerhouses for example over the last couple weeks we've seen countries like france the united arab emirates or even thailand come up with such policies yet i know you know i'm really when when we were i mean you're and you're in a long time but when i was there for that speech last year the minister of the monetary fund i mean he in hong kong is very open and welcoming to beas things they've got regulations they're just they make sense as opposed to trying to fit you know securities regulations or futures regulations wrap that around kryptos how

about exchanges what are you seeing with the crypto exchanges and the regulation of those as opposed to the i c o's etc. absolutely i think the next couple months will be very important for how the exchanges of all and i don't mean how crypto exchanges will react to external market movements for example of a slowdown in trading volumes or potential hikes but i mean also some regular actions as well a good example bart has been actually here in new york where two weeks ago the new york attorney general came out with a report saying that a lot of the crypto exchanges lacked sufficient internal controls for example on matters like conflicts of interest protection of customer funds or even market manipulation and i expect to see over the coming months a lot of these crypto exchanges adopt some of these best practices that frankly have been around financial markets for a long time and that may change the landscape and actually volved how crypto

exchanges operate today that's so great and that's the good part of of old regulations you know taking the best practices from what we know in markets like. the know your customer money laundering but then you look at like value volatility rather on really and you see how to cripple markets sort of go on a roller coaster ride and regulators say wait a minute that doesn't look like regular markets there's got to be something wrong but you know henri what are we going to do about some of the other sort of you know the underbelly or the weak spots in crypto because you and i both want them to go forward but things like manipulation things like you know there's not a there's not an insurance fund if you lose your money if it's hacked how are these things going to be dealt with. that's great question bart as you know from your former life it's actually very difficult to come up with proper regulations to cover the space because the industry is moving so fast what we are seeing in the

market right now is a lot of best practices there are often community driven where the industry comes together and says these are some of best practice is we all want to abide with because we believe it's in the best interest of the community and for example you mentioned hong kong before the association of hong kong recently came up with a best practice document for ice use recently a system of dissociation of brokers did one for crypto exchanges and i expect to see many more such best practice initiatives pop up all around the world and lastly one of the things that i think is sort of cool is the emergence of crypto funds because there may be a lot of investors who really aren't ready to go in and actually buy bitcoin or ripple ureter but they might be willing to get into a fund and take sort of a wider berth on these things what's happening with the crypto funds. it's great question bart i think over the last couple months we've seen an emergence really of crypto funds globally what's been interesting is that obviously there's a lot of demand for institutional investors for because investing in the crypt

a fund as you mentioned as a great way for them to get exposure but also learn about the ecosystem similar to a lot of institutional investors dealt with hedge funds private equity funds and venture capitals over the last couple of decades what some of the challenges we're actually seeing in practice when it comes to crypto funds are often very simple custody for example although there's a lot of people working on coming up with proper custody solutions for the funds that's one of the areas where this alleged gap and that is affecting a lot of a lot of institutional capital entering the space on really harsh lady and i can't tell you how pleased i am you have a you do like a tweet or something for sixty seconds that i was on so i owe you now that you came on and did this we appreciate you being here so much and that's a crypto leader for pete obviously prices. waterhouse coopers thanks ron but it's a pleasure being here.
