as a quote substantial premium to its trading price at the time tesla stock price rose significantly after the tweets in a statement s.b.c. investigators allege that mr must tweets were false and misled potential investors when he tweeted mr busk had not yet discuss specifics with prospective financier's according to the s.c.c. tesla's stock has declined by thirteen percent on the news and for more on this we now turn to our friend lauren fix the tart show coach who joins us live from new york lauren what do you make of this we talk about tess a lot but we necessarily didn't see it coming down this hard in this fast good way . no typically the f.c.c. does not come after someone in eight weeks but they were in negotiations to try to compel the settlement where it would not go to prison but he would have to have a certain amount of unspecified time which we don't have information on yet to step down as a c.e.o. and not be a part of a publicly held company and they said for
1:31 pm
a few years which would be about one to three years so obviously he said no and he hired himself an attorney and he's the same attorney that mark cuban used and he's planning on going to court over this what's interesting is they came back after eight weeks you don't typically do that with the f.c.c. and less you got for sure something against him the interesting thing is this is a historic just the market closed are almost fourteen percent down almost forty five dollars that's quite huge so anyone that's invested in the company is going to get hurt again but remember his goal was to hurt the short sellers and he did that but now he's got about six class action lawsuits against him plus the f.c.c. and other companies and other entities of the government coming after him he's got a lot of his plate but he did it to himself and absolutely and you know i've been involved in a lot of these settlement talks but when i was at the commission and you know the government wants to strike a deal if they can because it will save them time and expense and taken things to
1:32 pm
trial and so they're usually willing to be more and more more free than i actually was there i always wanted to get a make sure they were you pled guilty and everything so you find these settlements that are a little bit weak in my opinion but mr must seems to be having none of it and my guess is since he was doing it reported to be five or six jobs there that he thought he was indispensable do you think this is actually going to impact the operations of the company. oh it's going to impact the company in total i mean think of what happened with martha stewart when she went to prison for substantially less than a sip destroyed her company and she's now back in a position as c.e.o. of a new company but elon musk is the brand is what people are buying into he's the pied piper they are not buying into the car itself because there's other electric vehicles on the market that are going to be substantially better whether it be the jaguar i pace on the b.m.w.
1:33 pm
i vehicles is a lot of great product on the market but the only reason that tussles alive is because of him and if he has to step down as a c.e.o. and a board member and of course the board is fighting this everybody knows whether you're short solo or a long hold this is not good and it will the impact of the stock can't be calculated but it could be quite dramatic well over one hundred dollars a share i'm hearing from a couple different analysts but the fact is the company doesn't exist without him and he knows that he is the brand but remember he also is on the board of solar city and space x. he's got other problems because he was smoking marijuana and national t.v. and now his federal security might be pulled for the space x. project so looks like a lot of things in this house of cards are coming down. we're going to be watching very closely when he does have a good attorney as you say with mark cuban mr cuban got off so we watching lauren fix the car coach thank you laura have a great weekend. thank you too. and social

pursuing new demographics and we've seen some of recent examples of that including one major acquisition in the restaurant industry this week here with more is art to correspondent sarah ma says sarah hates barto just this week and fire brands which owns fast food chain arby's and other companies announced that it's acquiring the burger chain thought nic this for two point three billion dollars the r.v. it is expanding all over the world with priority markets in europe including france and the u.k. they're also looking at markets in asia places like hong kong japan and the philippines. following the announcement made earlier this week sonic which is a publicly traded company saw its share go up to an all time high this was over forty four dollars per share this could help sonic where it faces competition with other fast foods including yum brands which includes restaurants like taco bell and pizza change which are also found all over the world inspire is looking to
1:38 pm
diversify dining to accommodate potential changes in restaurant consumption and those changes in the economy now this include sit down restaurants like buffalo wild wings arby's and now sonic with the retro i'm sorry with the retro drive and service that allows for the option of dining in your vehicle or takeout but the restaurant industry isn't the only place we're seeing this and other industries are providing more product offerings to attract additional different demographic customers target for example has partners with some of the one hundred seventy five designers since its debut in one thousand nine hundred nine when it partnered with grace's design collection in two thousand and twelve they partnered with neiman marcus and today they've discounted prices with designers like vera weighing hunter boots and alexander mcqueen one of target's main competitors internationally known wal-mart also sells designer products including michael kors and kate spade so instead of paying full retail price for a kate spade back at the boutique which could cost upward of five hundred dollars
1:39 pm
you can buy the same handbag at wal-mart for less than half the price other stores like h. and m. have partners with stella mccartney and were starchy but product offerings aren't only looking to designers in the latest target is teaming up with the nonprofit for its first time we recently saw this with nike when they endorsed copper nick with it's sad and as we see diversification occurring in different markets it allows for more consumer purchases so these big name brands bring consumers into stores like target and wal-mart which in turn allows customers to purchase any. thing else on their shopping list. on one hand sarah i mean thanks for that report but it's great i mean with such a what you're saying is one you get inspired or owning our views while buffalo wild wings trying to expand to different restaurant areas and at the same time you have stores like target that are trying to expand to the demographics so it really is you know there is seem to be sort of desperate in this competition right it's increasing competition yes so increasingly competitive marketplace and there is

a real fight for these revenues that for example starbucks has started serving wine in several locations of their so wealthy what else the these markets start to do so a month has to oka thank you as always share great reporting. and now we're going to take a quick global market trip all around the world let you know what stocks have been doing for this past week and in a few other cases longer than that we first start with in shanghai and china with the shanghai composite index up this week and in fact down though for the last year and down this year to first nine months of this year sort of the same story in a hong kong the hang seng up this week but down this year to basically flat for the last year of time last twelve months and down in australia the australian securities exchange they're up those are the two hundred most looked at companies

in australia moving to the euro zone we first start with the cac that we've spoken about in detail not long ago with down only yogurt company and others topping the cac that's up and the german dax that peter all over told us about recently including bear which has been down to the dax has been down and bear has been down not just on the week not just on the year not just year over year but for the past five years guys bears been taking a tumble for a long time and by the way before we leave the euro zone we told you last time about the a talian budget proposal well it's come out and they have disregarded some of the euro zone leaders who wanted to reduce the budget in italy and the proposal is to in fact increase spending to keep pace with some of those campaign promises that were made and to cut taxes keeping the various coalitions in italy please but not a lot of those in the eurozone and brussels and markets are down four percent and

if you're into crypto mining then you know that one of the biggest players is of course bit maine which specializes in selling crypto mining hardware in a move that has many interested bit maine has submitted an initial public offering an i.p.o. prospectus to the hong kong stock exchange detailing all the information on the company as it looks to go public but it's not as easy as one might think they overestimated the demand for crypto mining equipment in twenty eight team once volatility hit the crypto the crypto market the orders for crypto mining equipment dropped that hasn't deterred the company however as they have also announced their latest mining which they say will increase mining efficiency. and we now move to consider if it's too late to start investing given the two year rise in many markets here to give us the assistance of the director of options and trader

specialist at simpler trading danielle shay danielle welcome we're so pleased to have you with us thank you so much for having me so i mean we've seen these markets go sort of gangbusters out everywhere but it in the us certainly in a lot of those in europe for the last couple of years but is now a time when a new investor could still get into the market and be safe not lose their shirts. absolutely i mean i think it's a great time to be an investor personally i'm more of a short term directional trader and it has been a glorious time to to be a trader in this market of course you know trading comes with a risk but as long as you're using discretionary capital and you learn how to control that absolutely discretionary capital a key component of that you're right what are some of the basic sort of fundamentals i don't mean the market fundamentals danielle but what are sort of the fundamentals that if if somebody is watching a viewer is watching and they say i maybe i want to get into the market now what

sort of due diligence should they undertake before they put their hard earned money in an actual risk. absolutely so what i like to do as a part of my straight trading strategy is i really focus on the sectors that are performing the strongest and this year particularly that has been consumer discretionary technology and health care so i really like to stick with those sectors the top weighted stocks within those sectors women and then i also like to look at what those companies are actually doing particularly companies for example in the cloud computing space there's a huge potential for growth there and those have been really strong performers for me this year and you know you mentioned you know that you're a short seller a lot of times and that brings up the question of active investment i mean that used to be used to do a poem back in my speeches about you know back when i was a kid my dad would say you know you buy and hold essentially you can be
1:50 pm
a motor roller something and be ok in ten years but that's that's not the case today i mean it might be the case i guess if you've got an amazon or something but if you're a short seller you really need to be active talk about what that entails not just for short short sellers but new investors what should they be doing like every day or every other day. well you know you really need to look at the current narrative in the market and right now for me as far as a short term trader i look at trades for about three weeks at a time and in this market i mean primarily that has been to the upside but right now what we're looking at is we have earnings season coming up and i love to trade the run into earnings season that's something that anyone who's investing or trading actively can be looking at right now because you know especially companies that are continuing to perform with high profit margins those are great companies to invest in particularly companies like microsoft cisco. sees

a really good honey badger that i that i have really enjoyed trading lately but these are also. companies that are good to invest and for long term do their growth they're showing year over year danielle that's very helpful we hope you'll come back some time you know i'd seen some of the stuff that you've done online and good to have you and now i know it was good to have you. write weekend thank you so much happy have a great day take care. it's an exciting week for the world of golf in the wake of tiger woods comeback capture of the tour championship of the national golfers association of the p.g.a. now the top tour players from the u.s. and the international ryder cup teams are in the midst of the showdown but big business is in the act to the ryder cup is a by any co-production of the p.g.a.

and right or cup of europe the corporate organizer of the event this time the competition is taking place in a suburb of paris but what does this all mean financially what should we be looking for and what is tiger woods actual impact on the sport and on economics for answers we turn to the report which c.e.o. mark who is not only a global business executive a dual citizen of the u.k. and u.s. but also we may be rooting for both sides but we're pleased to have you have you here where you thanks for being with us you're welcome absolutely so let's go first to this comeback which was pretty amazing i mean been watching this guy struggle for all these years that he finally did it any did it the year end championship what does this mean particularly from a financial perspective it is the vase and i think you know you sort of agree made it when an adjective is really off to you like the tiger effect you know so it's named after him and there's a huge financial impact i think the impact is really felt the great test with of
1:53 pm
course his sponsors and if you look at his major sponsors you look at say for example but then sales go up by thing. thirty percent even when he's not playing and they sold out of golf balls when they switched to go full is being sponsored by tiger in ten days most of the tour players of course play with titles so it's huge for the sponsors can you tell us i mean what the what sort of numbers we're talking about and you know and i know you've interviewed tiger in the past seen it but what what sort of financial impact of these contracts that he had with nike back in the day were huge and and when you think about you we talk about. the nike phenomena and they had michael jordan and tiger woods you know they got care project what were the economics of this for woods and others yes what was it and then we can do a fast forward is the data in two thousand and nine rather interesting i just study was conducted by two professors from the university of california davis school there and they studied the impact on the stock valuation of his major sponsors nike
1:54 pm
gillette gator age accenture actually accenture's didn't suffer very much but all the others in aggregate and they went down to like two point six percent there was twelve billion lost in value to those sponsors so that was a huge negative impact now if you look at the comeback right now i mean it's just tremendous accenture as i mentioned didn't suffer from that stock nike did stay as a sponsor all this time i should have been a sponsor since one thousand nine hundred six because their c.e.o. was very loyal to tiger and i know that at the ryder cup you know they've got these major sponsors rolex so that particular we see that you see it on the european tour all the time but you have those big rolex clocks behind the ts that have been last year and in two thousand seven hundred think they spent over a million and a sponsorship they've got b.m.w. i know is another big one raise another big one yes and then i do know that the sponsorship from bridgestone that was another another two million and if you look at the sponsorship also across the board you'll see that each one of them this
1:55 pm
sponsorships equal more than any winnings he's ever made he makes over forty five million a year just in those. as the ships to go before we go i got to ask you this what do you bake. you know the tiger phil match up that's coming up in thanksgiving who is abroad curtis writes to that what about going to be t.n.t. and that's going to be paid for sort of pay for viewing so i think they're going to make a huge amount of revenue and can you imagine the person that decided to to buy those broadcast rights before tiger while this past weekend the viewership the nielsen ratings that's actually how of course nielsen a values things the ratings were up two thousand and six percent on sunday from three pm to six fifteen pm i mean if that doesn't tell you that whoever made that decision should be very very happy so the ratings are up and the course obviously phil is a fan favorite so i think it's going to be a tremendous event t.n.t. is very lucky to have already made that decision you know an international team i'm going to have we're going to and i don't did you notice i wore white today we're in the midst of this today and this for this weekend because i am not going to take
