united states charging seven russians now the crimes listed are hacking money laundering wire fraud and identity theft and it's being alleged in the indictment that not only did they commit these crimes but they did it on behalf of russia's g.r.u. let's take a listen real quick to the indictment these seven defendants are charged with a pervasive campaign of hacking stealing private and sensitive information and publicizing that information to retaliate against russia's detractors and sway public opinion in russia's favor now the allegations go on to say that essentially they began to hacking individuals in response to them calling for russia's athletes to be banned from the olympics after the doping scandal it's alleged that they took information and publicized on the internet that u.s. tennis stars serina and venus williams had been using prohibited medicine and the

same thing about olympic champion simone biles now it's also been alleged that they targeted a nuclear power nuclear energy company in pennsylvania now three of the people lifted listed in the indictment seven total but three out of those seven have actually been named in previous indictments from the u.s. department of justice as a result of the bob muller investigation yes we haven't seen any evidence yet this is simply an indictment being handed down by the u.s. department of justice no evidence yet presented. we cannot live to former u.s. diplomat jim to discuss this. in the program with as so many countries have made allegations against russian military intelligence all in the same day what might be the reason for such a coordinated campaign. well i think the reason is spelled out in defense secretary williams and statement that russia is a pariah country and we need to isolate it i think this is

a coordinated attack look this one's got everything it's got it's got chemical weapons got elected meddling it's got doping it's got every other thing you can think of that the russians are guilty of and i think this cloud of accusations is its own purpose and normal rational people would say well why would they be saying these things unless they had some purpose in mind the purpose is to poison any possible rapprochement between washington especially and russia as true donald trump said he wanted to do during the campaign and make sure that cannot happen and that relations continue to go from bad to worse as he was saying russian intelligence is being accused of attacking a wide range of talk is from the i p c a p t w two water and even the m h seventeen investigation do you think it's really a stake that only seven people could have could have done all this. no and i think we have to be skeptical whether these attacks are really occurred at all and frankly if they did take place i think it's much more likely to i think we

need to be looking at the central british role here it would be child's play for some operatives for the british secret services to launch these attacks and mimic a russian source to the satisfaction of the the american justice department which is entirely clueless or possibly complicit in the whole thing i don't for a minute think that these attacks actually took place from the russian side if they took place at all i think somehow they were staged and all of these fresh accusations focus on russia's military intelligence the g.r.u. why do you think the g.r.u. has become the latest bogeyman of choice for western governments. i think a by throwing out individual names for example this sort of concretize it somehow makes it look like there really is evidence behind it look we know that these individuals were responsible and of course how hard is it for western intelligence services to get the names and job descriptions of various officials in the g.r.u.

or any other government agency so i think that's what they're doing but it makes it sound like there's something behind it and gives it a kind of a a sexy conspiratorial air like you know calling the one program fancy bear like that really be in some place. has suggested that this could be a method to distract from the fresh evidence released recently by the russian ministry of defense regarding the mh seventeen investigation does that it'll sound possible see it. i think it's possible and i think that would account for the inclusion of the doug show and of course holland is simply a vassal state of the united states in this whole thing but i don't think that's the driver behind it because any new evidence and we recall recently the russians came out with the serial number of the individual book that was in ukrainian hands not russian hands when the the mh seventeen was brought down i think maybe it was included for that purpose but that that was not reported at all in the western

media to any significant extent so i don't think this is designed primarily for that purpose and may be a side issue with the thing perhaps a lot of analysts will be looking at these accusations and wondering whether that is the launch of political agenda being cories ted do you think there is. oh if there is and i alluded to that at the beginning the larger political agenda is what you see again bad relations with russia tightening the screws on russia isolating russia is its own reward that is the purpose of the policy is it is not a means to some other end and trust me it's going to get a lot worse especially over the next few weeks we have some very very strong saying sions on the american side that are due to kick in and of ember that really bring us to the brink of it's the kind of thing countries do when they're about to go to war with each other even downgrading diplomatic relations this this is much worse i

think that a lot of people really appreciate from a u.s. diplomat to just last thank you for your time. now in other news is now less than five weeks before america goes to the polls in the midterm election and it seems the continuing arguments around trump supremes courts nominee brett kavanaugh are having an influence on the f.b.i. provided the results of a probe into the sexual misconduct accusations against the judge republicans seem satisfied but the democrats are sounding the alarm it looks to be a product of an incomplete investigation that was limited perhaps by the white house i don't know i disagree with senator grassley statements that there was no hint of misconduct i mean an october poll shows republican supporters now see the november vote as a very important and significant increase now almost equalling the view democrats

have about the election so near a context a look at whether there's a correlation. it just might be the first time that the ruling party retains congress after midterms and the midterms are just about a month away in november and a new poll shows that eighty percent of americans from both parties see it as very important now in july the poll showed a ten percent gap between republicans and democrats but democrats unanimously took continuous efforts to destroy supreme court nominee brett kavanaugh who was accused of sexual assault but this strategy doesn't seem to be working for them trump hammered democrats for this at his rally in west virginia you see what's going on you see just horrible horrible radical group of democrats you see it happening right now they don't get hurt. in order to get power some have noted that all conservatives not just republicans

a so-called philanthropist soros has given millions to liberal causes are around the globe and democrats at home in the us. his organization has already given over two million dollars to these ladies alone and hundreds of thousands more to the fund that helped make anti carbon are commercials it depends on what the end game here is if the end game is to block a judge while the maybe not but if the issue here is to spread democracy like george soros his money is supposed to do that that might be that might be working out in in their favor i think this is really a trump trump situation unfortunately this isn't about accusations that were made and it's not about if a person is guilty or not of any sort of misbehavior this this really has come down
