tv   Watching the Hawks  RT  October 10, 2018 8:30pm-8:57pm EDT

8:30 pm
literally it look up the password on the internet and gain access to the weapons systems. our government. jonathan merritt computer science professor at princeton and former technology adviser to senator obama harris called the report damning and stated on twitter i briefly worked on this in the silent and no hyperbole it's terrifying so what does it mean when the department of defense can't even depend it's self. i think it means it's time to start watching the hallmarks. of the. real thing it's like. as part of. what they like you know that i got. that we.
8:31 pm
welcome everybody is watching so i robot and tough and i'm alone i'm a big kid fear is how all the way back in nineteen ninety one. that there was nothing to know about best i mean the movie hackers came out ninety five then we all knew that half it's going to back at me but it's pretty it's pretty incredible when you break it all down it truly truly is and that was just like the research council they've had multiple warnings over the years saying hey your systems might be a little too easy to get into hey maybe you need to like kind of you know defend against this and apparently it was until i twenty fourteen and on that they actually started saying hey let's make systems that are hard to get into but let me just say one thing after another well let me just give you an idea of just how bad
8:32 pm
the screw ups are right ok so the g.a.o. general credibility office discovered that in some cases simply scanning a system just. gadding a system caused parts of the system to shut down and that one test team was able to guess at administrators password into the system that controlled these weapons in about ninety seconds. maybe they watched hackers write testers could also doubt they could get it and download and delete data in one case the next bill traded one hundred gigabytes of content of data out of material out of our defense systems in one case the test team took control of the operator's terminals they could see in real time what the operators were seeing on their screens and could then manipulate the system i mean holes after holes up their holes or what's called our defense department well one of the things i wanted the reasons that stocks these
8:33 pm
things are so out of date by they aren't. think with biggest security you know like when you reset your passport at home on your wife i things like that one of the reasons are saying is that christine champlin has a director at the government accountability office actually said that it has to do with secrecy and that it has to do with with why we keep certain things possible that she told the interests that. a that the reason for the really bad cyber security was pretty much it was like a culture of security by obscurity meaning everyone of the pentagon sort of felt like because this is classified secret no one knows about it so they can't hack it . the old well of no one knows about it they will because that's just like well clearly people know about it because it's being built like literally like the kids on the pockets and the red ball sitting there and making sure we're safe where are these and i don't really believe but like oh so because it's top
8:34 pm
secret now and i was about and no one knows about that who would think to hack it like on one level i understand that logic but on the other end of the plate you but it's not exactly like it mysteriously doesn't exist you have teams of people hundreds hundreds of people developing a new weapon or developer going to the system or whatever but be you know it's classified secret no one knows. that's all scary europeans also even even more scary is that the war that is likely the pentagon is only aware of already a fraction of the total vulnerability just to me systems as some haven't even been tested for vulnerabilities and most of us are conducted under limited timeframes yeah. fraction congress is kind of sort of taking the twenty sixteen national defense authorization i did mandated complete the valuation of weapon system both abilities a year from now by twenty nineteen. people. i feel safe i think.
8:35 pm
well it's breitbart versus google after by partners acquired an internal google briefing entitled the good censor the eighty five page document it covers much about the search engines giants current issues and policies surrounding censorship it also reveals that the government requests for google to censor content has actually tripled since twenty sixteen and according to breitbart nowhere in the document does it say that google said and cooperate with the government's demands here to break down the stories are to america correspondent sara. thank you for having me exciting i always love seeing bright for versus google when it seems like a lot of earlier google facebook just couldn't seem to stay out of the headlines for major issues so what exactly is the major issue what is the leaked reports well the report is titled the good search so i mean that should say enough in itself
8:36 pm
google is trying to censor its content according to this report now we've seen these tech giant over and over continue to defend themselves that they're politically unbiased that they are neutral but what you see isn't always what you get in the main issue here is free speech versus safety and civility now the internet was founded on free speech but it looks like these tech giants are completely are not against shifting those beliefs we already know that under the new u.s.m.c. a deal that these content these websites are not held liable legally for the content being used but google wants to come out and watch for the bad behavior from its users. and you know as much as it's like google's just a search engine that's all they really are the end of the day i mean they do a lot of words now but really the bread and butter of the human lives of the searchers and certainly people what the answer is when you ask them a question which is why bias is so can happen so easily and who shows up at the top
8:37 pm
of those searches and those of always been manipulators manipulate. by google i think is the new i'm even though it's pretty obvious now you know a few weeks ago google was caught within caught with internal memos on manipulating searches to keep certain things out has google respond to this not they haven't released an official statement they keep going back to saying that we're still neutral and biased and a google source did tell breitbart but even though they this document was leaked that it was just internal research and it was never actually implemented the same response that they gave when they said that they were manipulating search results now they keep saying they're not politically biased back then during the election trump was saying that google was actually suppressing negative search results for hillary clinton google responded and said no we're neutral we suppress negative search results for everyone but a search engine researcher robert epstein did find that cool i actually was in
8:38 pm
favor of hillary clinton during twenty six eighteen and we you know the leaked video not too long ago about after the election a lot of employees favored clinton so it's no real surprise there yeah and you know and you also saw to the other it was like the world socialist web site that i believe that made work on the completely father forum you know not like some trees democrat that was also giving suppressed and searchers and because like bill they saw their numbers go down you know and the thing is that even though it's outside of the corporate acceptable mainstream that seems to not and up in the main road of whatever social media. part what's interesting too is when you dive into this is google was recently accused of working with china to create a search engine to work in china called project dragon-fly now what's that incentive why you know if there were unbiased and we don't do these kind of things why cater to different countries and what they're asking for that's that's
8:39 pm
a problem too. in the good sense or in the report google of knowledge as they know they control the internet they control the content so they have been allegedly working with china and china has very tough censorship laws so they are trying to create this search engine for china called project dragon-fly. and they say that in order to expand globally they will need to some what center their content so kind of going against what they're saying publicly cyber security expert morgan wright told r.t. that google's actions are an absolute contravention of their values and morals they withdrew from the pentagon cloud procurement valued at ten billion because it conflicted with their values and morals if google will do this under u.s. law imagine what they'll do with the search engine in china but bringing it back to google being google is the most popular search engine worldwide i mean who would have thought when this came out that we would be using google as a verb google this google that and people seem to continue to trust google saying
8:40 pm
that because of the detailed searches and you can actually they say that it's the quickest and most reliable search engine so yeah it's a joy but you know people talk about censorship and things like that i'm sorry but to me at the end of the day it's also called per you know it's also called the element of luck that you don't you know you don't need a government to tell you what you sure shouldn't look up that's up to you as an individual or you was a mother or father or whatever it's just me saying as a consumer i mean i'm not a parent. i also don't i don't need to be told by guys like i'm going to go and we all kind of have to be allowed to see information and make decisions exactly because it's the truth if you don't see both sides are in the army and you can't make informed decisions which is why censorship is something we for out of body hair and that we as ideologically it was. so much in practice will serve of the
8:41 pm
still good thank you so much clearly not always a pleasure all right everybody is we. break court watchers don't forget to let us know what you think of the topics we've covered on facebook and twitter and see our poll show dot com coming up we talk over the history of voter suppression here in the united states with author and speaker the walk of stay true to watching the whole. descending into tribalism and cultural trench warfare a highly contentious brett kavanaugh supreme court nomination process has ignited passions and anger on both sides of the aisle interestingly and ironically the point where there is wide agreement is the recognition of the status quo. and sadly with no way out. you
8:42 pm
know. no more i. am only. in film there is a trade in young girls sold into an underground sex in the street sometimes but the people who trust the most. and. it's easy to find and then where there are fault and where they're. much more difficult these are explaining all things are once you stop telling people look you my hate the banks but where do you put your money. you put them in
8:43 pm
the bank and what happens if the bank goes on and don't see your money anymore these kind of reasonings will be much more full to make people understand of dynamics there and why people lock on consequences of price is that of post nobody wants. a constitutional republican democracy the ability to vote is one of the most sad per cent of an individual citizens rights but here in the united states this is a beacon on the hill of all things freedom and democracy many citizens in the country's short history have only recently been allowed to vote and still to this day faced difficult and reasonable hurdles just ahead. part in the grand experiment
8:44 pm
that is us democracy women finally got the rights of zero nine nine hundred twenty s. and americans and nine hundred fifty two fifty seven hundred fifty seven saw all barriers fall for native americans and black americans finally saw their right to vote take hold in one nine hundred sixty five with the voting rights act but tragically the fight for the right to vote did not end in the one nine hundred sixty s. for blacks or other minorities here in the good ole us of a even today in states like georgia it was recently reported that there is a one in ten chance that a voter in the state was purged from the voting rolls at some point in two thousand and seventeen so while every citizen has a right to vote the fight to maintain that right goes on and here to talk about that fight and the effect it has on communities is author and educator dale atkins welcome. so i will just say this right off the top of the you know. in the united states one would think that the right to vote should not be an issue in this
8:45 pm
country but why have we historically and even today made it so difficult for certain members of our population to take part in as top of the probably whatever our most sacrosanct rights like the one the most basic rights of the country this is all about control it's about that one single narrative that one single group of people that dominate culture be unable to control how this country operates in function is no. introduction she said you know african-americans didn't get the vote until one nine hundred sixty five right universal measures such as was passed in eighteen seventy that's a hundred years you know no comments gave a speech about a lot of bulletin one nine hundred sixty five talking about how important these issues are and you are able to sustain capitalism you are able to control power and wealth if you keep people out of the polls that's a good point because when people can get in and actually vote for the candidates
8:46 pm
they want the candidates that best represent them. you're going to see changes affected towards that group of people right and there's always sort of this idea that if you know when it comes to minority is or when men vote would just mask things up that would confuse things or that it's so tiny it doesn't matter but if it's so tiny that it doesn't matter why are you worried about suppressing explain a little bit how that suppression and that has affected the black community because in that sense it's definitely like oh there are so few of me doesn't matter their vote doesn't matter we have to make sure they don't have any power as this big power that whole groups of people i mean even to date we've had two african-americans on the supreme court one of them i don't even know if he knows he's black. i don't know i don't know you know i can't tell him and i can't speak for god not only you know i feel like you know he's not the person who cares about issues that affect people who look like him you know how many black women has been
8:47 pm
on the supreme court you know. you know what i'm saying the answer is zero so when you're able to. when you're able to utilize the voting to pick and choose you know black people have certain issues that they want to see latino have the latino people have certain issues they want to see there's a gray area where blacks and whites and latinos and asians are connected but at the same time we all have issues that we want to fight for that we want to see change that we want to you know their we want to use to elevate ourselves in this country and as long as we don't have the right it's never going to happen and the sad thing about it is you see what's going on in georgia today with you know brian kemp who was secretary of state but he's running for governor now i'm a short term percent of the population of georgia is not able to vote there's people who are completely eligible he's trying to stop them to vote while because he wants to continue to keep things the way they are and we've seen that over the years repeated over and over again other going to see a movie into the future and all of this isn't to me like the right to vote is not
8:48 pm
unless. based you know it's not like an election year basis or the issue that. every year we need to be paying attention to what's going on and paying attention to the rules of voting and things like that it's interesting that according to pew research the black voter turnout rate decline for the first time in twenty years in a presidential election fell to point six percent twenty sixteen hours after twenty twelve were reached record highs of like sixty six percent obviously and want to election you have you know barack obama in the next election you had trump and clinton how important is finding the right representation running for these communities as well as you know the fight to make sure that they're being allowed to vote and can we really even at this point in time rely on either party to truly find representation that's going to galvanize people even want to get out and vote well the issue is the big issue is you know a lot of people who are excited about voting for hillary clinton or down with which
8:49 pm
explains the little turn know they look at both of these people as parts of systems that are fail and they need to really see any hope but what you know a message to the millennial is in the young people coming up is that at this point right now it doesn't matter if you don't like a candidate get into politics but you still have the responsibility of picking a person that's best for you. look at the supreme court right now you know look at many judges have been picked that had views that don't allow what the bulk of the country does should be a big enough message right there you know and a reason why i say that is because george bush electorial college donald trump electorial college you know barack obama popular vote will be popular vote but they're not picking people to sit on the supreme court so now we have this lopsided court who knows what's going to happen this is dangerous donald trump could potentially pick another person before his term is up and what's going to happen and not something i want to bring up about you know with the recent appointment. brett kavanaugh and i can't save them. to the supreme. it's hard to even say that.
8:50 pm
you know as a judge the d.c. on the d.c. court of appeals which has a lifetime had a lifetime appointment there he voted twenty twelve to uphold the south carolina voter id law writing the supreme court's affirmation of the general legitimacy of the purpose behind a voter id law is consistent with the fact that many states particularly in the wake of voting system problems exposed during the two thousand elections have enacted stronger voter id laws. this is the part where i think a lot of people sort of missed the ball where not to say that roe v wade is not important obviously it is but his voting record on voting says something what do you think about his record and should we be concerned about his record on voting rights based on absolutely everyone should just sit back and pay attention to what you were in civics class if your school was progressive in this book for a black person for one in trying to vote would you go up there to make of all
8:51 pm
you've got a test of literacy oh you passed that ok when you got to pay money oh you can afford it well digit parents vote because it's a run for the club so if they didn't vote you can't vote he is part of a long history of people who tried to keep voting for the elite in the wealthy and the people who look like him and the landscape of america is changing you know the brown we're living in a browning of america right now. people like evan l. people like sessions all of these of these all you know people who subscribe to these will scrub the y. supremacy who subscribe to you know that love and instead of sort of sense they're scared and they want to leave a world for their children with their interests and ideas are protected and they're getting a good opportunity to do that because the congress they have supreme court and they have the white house you know what's interesting too is when you whenever people talk about voting and voting issues it was very interesting to me about it is you always hear the other side kind of say like well we have to protect the. make sure
8:52 pm
the people are cheating the big picture people are like you know making two boats off one neighbor making sure they are where they say they are both once right when they say that what is she doing right and what's interesting to me about that is that when you actually look at the research the amount of voter fraud it is so like them to simple to like the actual life results that it's not even worth taking the time i mean it's it's negligible at the end of the day it's so small you may want you may want to stake your reliance on logic some people don't use logic they bow out voices big personalities and ideas which you sad makes perfect sense but you've got to stand up to see it on a podium you've got to scream it you know we do things like this right then people and the thing that bothers me about that is that it also goes into the effect of any time that i think people tell you all we need to protect the vote a lot of times you've got to pay attention to what they're actually talking about because what they actually could be talking about is exclusion and we have to all we need these i knew i did laws we need this we need to protect them from people
8:53 pm
who don't know how to vote correctly and you know i mean that was the big thing with the. with the democrats last accent was all that we just we were all just you know on informed and we didn't understand we didn't vote correctly but look at georgia look at mississippi these you know and as not to put it all on one party because i don't want to get mixed up in watching those talks in our great day and everybody. this is. so they need to actually physically hold it out of the ground you know well well.
8:54 pm
there's a lot of money with the oil and with that. a lot of a lot of people from all over the country. if you don't make a hundred thousand dollars a year. as a. pretty sure. you're a newbie and. they were told sixty dollars a day hard work will work it's not easy work and so they want to relieve their stress of how do they relieve their stress these men move back out these men that comfort these many. people who've been murdered up here people been raped there are massive drug issues up here you have a boom you have everything else that comes along with money. the ability to keep inflation jamie in the bottle is evaporating so we say prices going up across the board while it's just one of them we see interest rates rising at some slice there and we see the dollar eventually cracking and have
8:55 pm
a catastrophic collapse that's usually inflationary so prices across the board go up that makes that russia saudi arabia venezuela. their oil based economies they all benefit wildly from this emerging market takes the benefit of this and oil and gold gold started to perk up again and get going of course would skyrocket two hundred thousand plus. the way to the united states is dangerous for most of the illegal immigrants. because he was most just as the little sympathy i want to become lost in the last post on this but many of them look for refuge in the so-called sentry sides of the draft used to share information about undocumented migrants with federal authorities best person as band. was you know you know i've ended up on i guess i'm in a lot of class and they want that. they have
8:56 pm
