the game there has been so much that has come out the past couple of weeks especially with the kavanaugh nomination in the kavanagh confirmation i don't know if a lot of americans larry to be honest i don't know if they even remember about russian meddling and i don't know if they would even care that there's chinese battling so it'll be interesting to say ok john ford motor company says it plans massive layoffs and blames trump's terrorists for a one billion dollars in losses for the ford motor company how do you react to that . why i like to see the evidence of that i think you know i've never been one that's been very pro tariff but one of the things i think that we need to remember is this economy is on fire and it would be really shocking to me if an automaker in this good of an economy which is one of the metrics we look at for a good economy to our auto sales and gasoline and whatnot it be really shocking to me if they're being left behind because of

a tariff policy that so new and i think we had a look a little deeper into that before we come to that conclusion brian why would ford law i. i think the tariff policy has been bad policy from the very beginning it's hurt american farmers it's hurt the auto industry we have examples right here in tennessee where i am based there was a swedish manufacturer called electra locks they make appliances they had a two hundred fifty million dollar expansion plan for tennessee and two days two days after donald trump made this announcement regarding tariffs all the way back in the spring they halted that expansion so this is it's bad policy it's been bad policy from the beginning i think this is just another example i john. kavanagh a scenario i have on the november midterms. well you know it's equalize the. with the democrats i mean one of the things that we've seen consistently in the

data has been that democrats have had a larger enthusiasm gap then we've seen a long time in midterm elections but that all evaporate i mean even even such conservative bastions is n.p.r. and and others are i say that sarcastically are reporting that that that enthusiasm gap is all but evaporated so i think you've seen the effects of it whether it translates to giving one party an edge over the other i just don't know at this point we'll see in november brian are you offended by the terms mob and mob rule applying to those protesting. i think it's ironic that we have a president like donald trump accusing others of mobs and mob rule when he himself repeatedly has called for physical violence at his political rallies but you know i think it really remains to be seen who gets the bomb from the kavanaugh hearings and it really depends on who votes there's a new poll out from c.n.n. just this week showing that women especially leaning democratic they are now

leaning democratic by thirty points as opposed to the republicans so but you know who shows up to vote polls can say one thing it really. just matters who votes and that's what we learned in two thousand and sixteen what do you think will have been in november. you know i think if republicans look at this for district to district and look at the local issues and campaign at a local level like we usually do i think we hold the house if the democrats succeed in nationalizing this election and making it about a referendum on the president or kavanagh or something else like that i think the democrats have a great shot but i do think the senate is not in play i think we need to move on from that i think the republicans hold the senate easily and probably pick up a few seats and maybe west virginia and deftly i think south dakota. brian how do you see them becoming. i think john is probably right about the senate i think the

senate is probably safely in republican hands plus he's right i think they do have a chance of maybe flipping a seat or two when you look in west virginia with joe manchin but if i had to if i had to go with conventional wisdom and with polling right now in the house i'd say the house's leaning heavily towards democrats retaking the house but again larry it all depends on who votes we saw plenty of polling in two thousand and sixteen and the end result did not exactly match up with the polling in fact despite all the pundits we don't know. hi john some reports of attorney general jeff sessions resigning after the midterms you think bennell have a. i don't know i mean we're we keep having this discussion about jeff sessions frankly at this point i don't think it matters i think you know the american people are focused on the economy and how great it is jeff sessions has been a non-factor in the major issues like the russia investigation which as my colleague

here is said you know he's been sort of on the backburner he didn't really have any role in the confirmation of the last supreme court just. this brett kavanaugh i don't think it matters so maybe he resigns maybe doesn't but i don't think that's even a discussion worth having at this point because it's just not relevant to whether the midterms are going to be decided one way or the other brian you think lindsey graham is the next attorney general. i really don't know what to make out of what sessions will do i don't know who would follow sessions if he were to step down i mean my question at this point if you were jeff sessions why would you want to continue working for the trump administration regardless of what you think of donald trump this is a president who does nothing except almost on a weekly basis basis criticize his own attorney general if i were jeff sessions i'd say you know what i've had enough of this i've been a good government servant it's time for me to step down the question is who would come after him i'm not exactly sure john midship mcconnell the senate majority

leader said any republican to city challenging trump in twenty twenty would be a waste of time you agree. i do i think one of the things you as a former member voting member of the r. and c. one of the things that you have to remember is that donald trump is the chief fundraiser for the party he has resulted in record levels of fund raising alongside the incredibly great work of running mcdaniel our fantastic chairwoman we are out raising the d.n.c. by. ten to one margin in some areas and i think it would be impossible for the party to pivot to a neutral place and i just love that is any republican out there that would be able to energize a base movement of the level that donald trump could to win the delegates and we remember that whole thing last time in two thousand and sixteen i just don't see it happening and i think we should you know just just move on from that discussion as

well if it's just i don't think it's something that's going to happen brian are you concerned about the rift between progressive and establishment wings of the democratic party. very very concerned about that look the bottom line is here larry there's obviously a lot of motivation on the left to vote for anything and anybody but trump but republicans in the midterms and then in two thousand and twenty but look liberals progressives the whole resistance movement they need to get their act together they need to do what republicans do which is rally behind the party line candidate democrats have had a bad job they have been they have just done a bad job doing this i'm convinced that a big factor in what sank hillary clinton in two thousand and sixteen lot of progressives just couldn't get bernie sanders and jill stein out of their imaginations so you know it's one thing to protest in the streets and it's one thing to shout your disapproval unless you vote and you vote party line i don't

think it's going to make a difference for the resistance john one of the make of the whole ron rosenstein matter apparently now he's ok in good graces. well i think one of the things that the republican party as a whole realizes you know the white house to enter c c n r c is anything further to resurrect the controversy that would be associated with the russian vest a geisha and gets in the way of the the midterm message and i think the president's you know breakneck schedule out there doing rally after rally i think everything's focused on the singular message you know vote republican and get a great economy and anything else like that i think detracts from that message and lose the election so i think that's why you're seeing nothing come of that right now and and i don't think you'll see anything before the midterms brian you're in tennessee in this week you know fill in tennessee in the mega-star taylor swift close a sensation yes when she does so should media endorse democratic candidates did she

. keep this in the house was that many reasons why she could not. support republican marsha blackburn was read in tennessee how old the moon play out. well she has how many a hundred and twelve million something followers on instagram there's already some numbers out there that this led to a spike in one hundred sixty six thousand new voter registrations but again larry the key is who votes ok it's very easy it's much easier to register to vote but we see time and time again election after election cycle where millennial is despite all of these polls and indications that millennial is in the younger generation is fired up at the end of the day they just don't vote in the numbers that older more conservative voters voted and so i think it's wonderful what taylor swift is doing it's certainly great to see young voters energized they half to vote otherwise it

certainly can offend people with the things he says but he is what he is and he says what he's going to do and he says what he says and it can be gruff you can't offend me very easily so maybe i'm not quite as as fragile as in that sense but i don't judge him as a person as you react to the whole covenant with that i thought it was. it was rough the eleventh hour accusation coming out when it came out the way it came out with senator feinstein i think that was it a travesty and now did now you'll find her credible with a whole credible really sort of a quote did she mean when she said sure i think she meant what she said but you know i don't know you need some sort of proof or an allegation and you would assume that that sort of behavior would continue in the other allegations that were coming forward would just just ridiculous now again as a sexual assault is a horrible thing my mother my sister are survivors

a mother of rape it's horrible and think got into a chance to get hold of those people who did that and i take it very very seriously . trump says it's a very scary time for me do you believe that i'm raising his son is eighteen you know you are our kids and talk to each other grown up and it's a scary thing if somebody can claim something without corroboration if you are guilty until proven innocent if the accusation is all that is necessary that is scary were for the nation founded on due process you need due process you need the presumption of innocence and you need to be able to face your accusers and deal with it there was a lot of things happen in college in college campuses not that long ago where you were guilty until proven innocent look the duke lacrosse case you look at the stuff a uva it's some scary stuff so that is scary and i have those conversations with my son about how he has to act in ways to do things heck even at comic-con is now i asked somebody could you can we have a hug or is that ok you know beforehand because i don't want to have any of that sort of shot my way at the national sexual violence resource center it says

a one in five females in the united states will be sexually assaulted at some point in her life there are two it is say that's a scary time for women i think it is a scary time for women like i said the two females in my immediate family have both been sexually assaulted so i think that's a terrible thing i take it very very seriously at the same token i take a false accusation very very seriously ok tell me about. gosnell well i know you're probably know something about this story most people don't because the media didn't cover this kermit gosnell was an abortion clinic doctor in philadelphia and when and two thousand well up till two thousand and eleven two thousand and eleven he was investigated by the character that i play who is the detective jim wood is a true story is a true story and he was attacked and desiccated for narcotics bust and when they came through with the warrant they discovered a house of horrors this man had been the clinic itself it's an abortion clinic in

philadelphia and a poor part of philadelphia and that the clinic had not been inspected in seventeen years by the way it came down from governor ridge tom ridge him self big. for pot political reasons just don't don't even inspect it let it be and this guy was convicted of of three counts of murder and one count of involuntary manslaughter of murder of babies and the so it after they're born after they're born they were live birth so it and the state of feeling of a state of pennsylvania's twenty four weeks that is your cut off where bush in his is bent beyond there could be for certain reasons health of the mother health of the child in a horrible things like that but as far as voluntary just ending a pregnancy at twenty four weeks which is six months which is viability at that point is almost ninety percent that this child will survive well dr gosnell didn't want to go through the process of the d.n.a. which is a is a medical process that takes some time and takes cost money he is ill and he was doing was having his non-licensed nurses that he taught himself induce labor have

a live birth and then he would he would kill the baby by snipping their spinal cord with surgical scissors as a process he called snipping and it was so common that he had taught these non-licensed nurses to do it and he wopper operated there was there's speculation that it could have been three to four a day of these late term abortions for seventeen years that's a large large number and he was found dead investigated men not products and they found they found this and when they found it they took him to trial and they brought it they brought charges against him they offer him a plea deal and he said well that i would have to say i'm guilty and i'm not guilty well you know there were i don't want to get too graphic but there was you know the babies would be born with the woman would think she didn't realize she was in labor and she would go to the restroom and the baby born of the toilet and be stranded live and move and they would have to sniff it and it's dealt with in the film you don't see that obviously if you look up gosnell if you look it up on the internet you see things you'll see there are some things you can see in the end we reason we

keep that out and yet we keep the gore out but yes kermit gosnell is in prison triple life sentence and one for involuntary manslaughter let's take a look at a clip from gosnell. when you start working at the clinic now bob years ago i get. to be an anti i'll be there was even brought up and then i and then i said i hope when asked ask me how i feel about it whereas you're a straight up one hundred percent and i said i support gay rights and i said i support and i'm and i'm pro-choice and i caught a lot of heat from outside that not nobody there at that place gave me a hard time most people don't do that in person what's it like is it tough for you being a trump supporter in a very anti trump city it's a very handsome from cities of if that's so you could underline that for sure no it's not just for me because i'll engage anybody that's the thing i'm not afraid to discuss with anybody politics or policy or anything like that because i think you

should be able to discuss it and it listen if you have a better argument than me as to why i should not like this person or like his policies then then let's have the conversation must be civil and respectful because i'm going to be that way until you cross a line and then i won't be and i'll have the conversation i encourage the conversation that's how things get done or we so torn. i think we're so torn because people will just scream and name call and not have these conversations they're afraid to do so or have the actual they will sit there and dick i'm not going to tell you people on the left are villains and horrible people but they do they may not like the president and that makes stan into other behaviors anything that he does i mean they were against cavanagh to matter who was going to be imagine it was anything any kone verite they were going after her for all sorts of things they weren't going to support the person because of president trump but only the t.v. series lois and clark the new adventures of superman sold bridge twenty fifth anniversary we've seen a lot of reunions and the chance of you and teri hatcher the teaming well if i have
