where that boston tea party took place where was that what they called the harbor boston harbor boston harbor why can't we get a barge. and put this harvey on the barge and take it right out in the middle of boston harbor is that crazy what what the what you want to put this on a barge and flown out of the middle of boston i mean what what better way to to to celebrate this occasion done by honoring that great event with another great statement a mind reader to talk to jared about. or a brother will pull in to boston massachusetts. on my own finally reaching their destination our heroes discover one of the many things boston is known for actually just parker here. it's parking disagree it's not a no it's a little. ember on that side of that sign not where we are now but if the sun is
5:31 pm
correct we can sit right here i believe they can't that's a great spot that corner or in since i get that one but it's probably a loading zone they all are. just so brilliant i'm going to get out there you're good the shirt was these trees poor. after finally parking our heroes realized they were in cambridge home of harvard university for some of the top minds in the world to use to study soon max ventures out to meet some future leaders of america i'm kind of got a story without belief and could you be revealing your kind of this didn't fully stop just a little a stumble into getting the non-original. maryland. it's going well apparently we can't take mack's anywhere everybody stay but knows that everything is still to it everybody could fill. so the whole you know you're going to this
5:32 pm
math you know to. be good at the detail thank you. max is getting an education about what stay away from the city stephen heads over to the local coffee shop meet a traveling nurse and learn what it means to be boston strong. close not just yet stephen even though it's nice to. there you go to earth oh thank you thanks for coming in no problem you heard the word of journey to join us you can hear so i have you know before we get into all of that out of where you from you were born where i was born in manhattan new york and then we moved here to massachusetts i graduated two thousand and six from things school and became a travel nurse i've traveled all over the country for the past eight nine years
5:33 pm
right so your health care. that's like a hot topic these days if yes what would you say is the biggest issue your profession for nursing health insurance period you know we get people that don't have insurance and they get the best care throughout you know the border you get someone who is hardworking and has insurance and they get kicked out after the fifth day because their insurance doesn't approve for you know whatever it is that they need or what not so sure in your opinion as you travel as a nurse a lot of folks who are uninsured are seeing more than if it's the middle to lower middle class one hundred percent yes. back to mexico keep it one hundred thousand came. on the front yes but that. doesn't matter how much compared with europe. or france i would compare. you don't have heat.
5:34 pm
but the. thing is that you want your movie and you meet and you meet me but. it's rising healthcare costs and education what i was thinking it. might be so like four thousand years ago if the average salary in france is last night francisco that you can french you feed it will be less going to be a good plan b. what next but at the end i don't know which if we meet yes only it seems to you because i want you. now if i don't know me or somebody that you're making i don't know what it was and i don't know which way you keep it but hundred thousand euro you i would come via one hundred thousand yet this woman might be against me when i
5:35 pm
was shopping when i come back and might. tell you that i think so much something i do cultura subsidize and if the flour in the fridge again next year i'd say the cat would read yes the bread i got i get it's one hundred whatever i am going to colombia but i guess i rebuffed him a statement that i get it from one box i read what i do just. because i came back at the coffee shop stephen continues his chat with jessica and learns more about her trip here still enjoying her nursing in the travelling and i love it i absolutely love it i wouldn't change it for the world show you've gone too many many many many places i have what's what's a story or an experience related to your work that sticks out the most well actually i had a contract in boston here at mass general and i was actually when the boss thinks the marathon bombings and. i was there breaking news this hour the finish line of
5:36 pm
the boston marathon is hit by two major explosions just seconds appalling at least three people have reportedly been killed and many others. had gone there at three of my friends one of them being like eight months pregnant my best friend and. they were two of our friends were running the marathon and. we were standing at the finish line and my primary friends she was like you guys i'm starving i really need to eat we walked down the street we went to out that. everything and we heard the first bomb go off. everyone looked around but didn't really think anything of it you know it's down to kind of like a cannon going on and so. they're probably celebrating a few minutes later the second one went off and i was was the one that was closer
5:37 pm
to us where like the building shook. and so that's when people started freaking out. the manager of the restaurant made everybody go downstairs. and told us that he was told that it was some kind of gas pipe. and i was like that sounds like. that like that we were in there it would seem like wondering what the hell was going on you know so they finally let us through the back door into the alley behind the restaurant. and that's when. they saw people just running running and people with blood and we're like what the hell's going on you know and so when my friend was asking around like what just happened what's happened and everyone's like those bombs going off and so that's when we were like ok we got to get to the train station because my friend who is eight months pregnant you can't own. so we booked into the train station and it was just mass
5:38 pm
mass of people just going to stir yeah it was it was it was crazy and. i still remember it like it was yesterday like. in this. movie. so. europe most americans. are pretty good friends so it's let's go get something. from where you were before he would go forward when he was out of finish line so is that were the first bomb that's where the second bomb went off i believe the bigger one the bigger one yeah so if it wasn't for hungry baby we could have been still standing there when it went off thinking back like before we went to eat we were trying to hook up with another friend who was there. but just we couldn't figure out where she was so i actually took a picture of like where we were in so she can reference it to like where to go and i didn't even notice it was her that notice when she later on that night like after
5:39 pm
everything happened. when i took the picture of the two the two brothers were in the picture. what i took. yeah. i still have a you want to see it. yeah. thanks guys or financial supply you know they say money to develop. it close to these it is a central plank support diet goodness i'm going to cover my nose they stopped. i'm your own pal. coming up the out. aegon title time told.
5:40 pm
him from pen there is a trade in young girls sold into an underground six in the street sometimes by the people they trust the most. and. so what we've got to do is identify the threats that we have it's crazy. let it be an arms race off and spearing dramatic development only personally i'm going to resist i don't see how that strategy will be successful very. time to sit down and talk.
5:41 pm
at least. back at harvard square max is looking for someone he can vibe with there we're talking about america. like what it means you know i am better able to hard work with a masterpiece or marshal i'm not going to do work for them i want to with my margin and i want to own my back on the fifty seven foot i should go and see how the world all screwed up and if the stuff you start i'm fifty seven years old it goes a long time and call my office. so your name a few more not answer me to tell you what your sign of. what your chinese know while i'm a big guy you know pretty rock for around. one project here bob i'm here to harvest greater give out free food to folks and was that. like starbucks knee if you want to draft rethink what more you got the funding for military right how you have all the money you want housing him. you have to get over and start caring again it goes
5:42 pm
back to what is important for americans and we myself when i say hopeful i think america can make it if we get our values straight as old saying live simply so there's much to be written and how it might say here is for me a picture of you took randomly just to identify the spot you were. in. and it has the two individuals that were the terrorists yet. to be on the ground i know you're not tell me about it but massey yeah. and you can zoom in. and this is before all the floor everything happened yeah. i mean it's it's clear as day there they are yeah there they are right there yeah. you know right there for them. i mean that's just. crazy right and i mean even noticed until my friend was like you got to take
5:43 pm
a look at your picture again and i was like why does the man and look at the people and that's when i was like oh. there they are tell me though. because you're talking about it and obviously it's an emotional. thing. i've met several people who on nine eleven and told to go home that day. you know you can chalk that up to. luck. a higher power anything. i didn't get any of that. not at all not until after the fact and. listening after the fact after everything happened. we just like me it was me and three my friends my pregnant friend and her husband and another friend and all three of us that we were like we need to get home that was our main. focus i'm sorry i mean to you.
5:44 pm
tissue brother heard there were something i'm sorry i'm going to sing i thought i need to go is going to listen to your father and. mother. are you afraid i'm just because. some part of me it's one to one city in america i mean it's all over america it's a big country right there are a completely empty right and so you know foreign territory like what the where i'm ok so how about this place i see boston yeah i think that's not the first time one it's amazing after the birth i guess is you know much about where my father just came up after the bombing at the marathon bombing. but i do know that there was a whole boston strong you know thing came about from that and one of them it was like what's going on and it means that we like look up for each other type of terror and things like that like we get one another where you feel it's all turning
5:45 pm
i mean i guess that i'm puerto rican cold in terms of my place going on here i don't feel like i'm ok like right now my grandfather fought for and he just had like so much right talk about the american flag or american stuff like that that's happening right now very we need to not feel like when they need it that's their part that they're here because you know any other place you stand they got to meet with me to get it i don't want to train up the much knowledge box and you know on that day honestly yeah like a lot like him. after. all this went down the trains were running they kept running to let people get out of there yes. and there were like law enforcement with like huge guns in like backpacks like all over the place like just people. yeah and your girlfriend who is
5:46 pm
pretty pushy running to the wall she couldn't write the time you know yeah. yeah. scared and it was terrifying actually because we didn't know if there was going to be another one that to go off or where or you know when so it was it was. i can't even put it in words. how did mom and dad react. were finally good happy to see me when i go home because they couldn't get a hold of me because you know all the phones were down you know you can make any phone calls you can text you can do anything so they didn't know where i was or if i was still around or anything. so when i finally got home. it it was a voice you know i. think
5:47 pm
i'm just like i'm. trying to stay away from patricia and myself here. just to jump to the next idea i'm going to say. so that happens. but you still live there. it's my home it's still home. where the heart of the city i got you. know a body. that was yours because my mom and she went to the american me. and. ask you. a great. great. i feel a lot of love coming here we're so confident. i see this race. boston strong what does that mean mean for us propped up by.
5:48 pm
terrorists on the attack because three. years it's not quite beneath you we need to come here. so i'm sitting here with a young lady who hasn't just seen. or heard the idea boston strong. i lived it. cost them kicks because look how quickly they caught those you know. it's awesome. boston did a very good job catching those guys. yeah what are law enforcement deals with i know firsthand because my dad is a police officer so. i know what he goes through you know coming out of
5:49 pm
it or you stronger or you're getting there i'm getting there. cure was forced but that's raised a pretty terrific daughter help her friend. she is pregnant. chad the baby. on the morning show holds the boy in him. what's not. so. happens here. you see. play business all. not nothing that somebody on the hill oh. yes yes we you. know i'm talking about america as a country you recount like our parents you know we're like a sibling that's run off. not in our country i don't think we're doing mom mom i'm
5:50 pm
pretty sure these women don't speak for all of the england and max definitely doesn't speak for all of us pretty good pretty good reason to be better to get rid of trouble well that was just about to say about the pope's accent you can speak all. i want you to mention but i think i made a mistake right so that leaves current leadership you're not too keen on this now not to talk to bear yes. other than that it opens copyright i'll cut off part oh yes i was going to fund the east coast right in the summer and most of the gulf coast now for a long time and there's a transformation coming to your neighborhood my god. what are you going to propose to nail me with but there's a lot we're going to call when i think my name will article was. a dream down the river and it worked but it's time to stop such a long time for
5:51 pm
a while that doesn't work to me i'm. for asking everybody on the greenberg pilgrimage what does america mean to you everything you've touched on the touch here. this is still lead to dreams or is it just ok it was a land of dreams i mean my parents don't know we reached the end you know my dad was he always wanted to be the police officer did you know i was a member as a. raise does was meant to cause you know good jobs but. america now. home like the way things are going with this new president and. terrorism going people killing each other i mean it makes me scared to even raise kids in this world now because look at what the have to look forward to. wondering if someone's going to bomb their school without a dollar. i want children but i would fear for them. i mean the news you
5:52 pm
can't even watch the news these days but there it is just that you don't see anything good. except the. p.r. . so. you're still cool with america comes through i'm still here things are going to get better i'm hopeful. i'm hopeful that things will get better but that's true that it is too much going on now but i'm hoping that things will turn eventually turn. thanks for coming and fran thanks for sharing your story the third day of massachusetts is in the books stephen impacts a come to an understanding of what it means to be boston strong and our heroes meet back up to continue their quest to have the austin tea party of their own next time on the great american pilgrim.
5:53 pm
is a little oh wow well max level we've made. our home what does america mean to you. because. i am not very good at it hot. and. i think that. america at least. when a loved one is murdered it's natural to seek the death penalty for the murder i would prefer and it means to the death penalty just because i think that's the fair thing the right. thing research shows that for every nine executions one convict is found
5:54 pm
innocent the idea that we were executing innocent people is terrifying the is just no really hasn't been that we're even many victims' families want the death penalty to be abolished the reason we have to keep the death penalty here is because that's what murder victims' families what that's going to give them peace that's going to give them justice and we come in and say. not quite enough we've been through this this isn't the way. except someone for who they are not what you want them to be this is the advice a therapist might give to a couple in a relationship crisis it apply this wisdom to geopolitics and you'll see the trying to change the weakness of the other is the norm can geopolitical actors ideology aside and learn to fully accept each other.
5:55 pm
i don't have faith in this government official of president oh f. ace in the system i said i've got it's over i'm too liberal the system designed for people like me. as long as there's. different people here for different reasons the loss of jobs the loss of a. most people in philadelphia are only about two paychecks away from home lessee.
