figures with donald trump already commenting on the arrest start and has more. we heard a rather triumphant donald trump congratulating law enforcement for apprehending a suspect accused of carrying out the recent wave of mail bombings make makeshift homemade pipe bombs that were sent to different government officials and individuals associate with the democratic party as well as to c.n.n. donald trump congratulated law enforcement for catching the individual said that it's like a needle in a haystack catching the individual was impressed with how quickly they had done it and donald trump said that they would unify the country and that these divisions would be swept aside this is the president of the united states these times we have to unify we have to come together. and send one very clear strong and mistaken will message that acts were threats of political violence of any kind have no place in the united states of america in the aftermath of these postal bombs being sent
2:03 pm
we've seen a wave of u.s. officials and public voices calling for unity in the united states and pointing to how much division exists in us society and joe biden the former vice president of united states for example said this country has to come together this division this hatred this ugliness has to end now there's been a recent poll that was published pointing to how divided americans actually are when it comes to the issues and the presidency of the united states now according to a poll that was published by the associated press and the norks center for public affairs research eight in ten americans consider the country to be quote greatly divide it meanwhile thirty nine percent of americans say that those divisions are going to get deeper the poll went on to show how americans who consider themselves to be republicans americans who consider themselves to be democrats have huge gaps in public opinion when it comes to issues like climate change income inequality and the president himself how they feel that donald trump is doing in office but at the

moment many voices are speaking out about how americans just don't see eye to eye and calling for americans to be less partisan and to be closer together until be less hostile to each other in the aftermath of this wave of attempted postal bombings and the sending of makeshift pipe bombs people are calling this an act of terrorism. and japan china relations are. turning point according to japan's prime minister speaking at a summit with his chinese counterpart it's the first visit to the country by japanese leader foot by natural talks in around seven years become full follows a long period of territorial disputes takes a look at what exactly has led to the change. the japanese prime minister is in china and he's smiling. that was him with the chinese premier who was smiling too. so why of course these kind of guys put up a happy face for the cameras during the protocol handshake well sometimes things
2:05 pm
between countries get so bad that even handshakes can save the day. but both leaders surely would have preferred not to stand there together like that just a few years ago the gloves were off between beijing and tokyo because of these tiny islands in the east china sea just to realize how much i hate that land dispute generated have a look at this. i really wouldn't want to be a japanese car owner in china back in the days the two thousand and twelve conflict was spiraling out in all shapes and forms mr mr she didn't even talk on
2:06 pm
the phone up until may this year today though we're pretty much back to seeing the new un friendship with the chinese state run media telling us this kind of stuff so what happened what kind of magical friendship did in the dragon get prescribed maybe it was the donald trump pill the world knew mr trump was on a mission to give beijing a real business beating the united states has just announced tariffs on another two hundred billion dollars in chinese made goods china's market distortions. and the way they deal. cannot be tolerated but who. new the president will then take aim at his biggest asia ally japan and his economic bowling well last month the media got a trade war to pay off and anyway the steel and element tariffs had already kicked in you know how it works now america first but we understand that president trump
2:07 pm
wants to reduce the trade deficit but i think it's very important for president trump and his administration to find out the root cause of why there is a trade deficit in america i think there is a possibility that they do not yet understand why and so the world silver and bronze medalists and g.d.p. are shaking hands smiling and are possibly even ready to team up what will the golden boy have to say asia pacific expo. solace that trump has only got himself to blame for china and japan becoming closer together. us did not expect that. other countries would be able to set aside their differences and get to get to the table with each other as relatively easily as they have been able to do so but at the end of the day it is the us which has to be every chance to which has to carry the blame for this both the countries are frankly facing you need lateral and
2:08 pm
hostile trade enforcement action from the trumpet ministration china primarily but i would also suggest that part of the reason for the coming together is because both countries realize the important players. and that without speaking to each other the relationship their relationship with each other as well as the larger geo political environment in which they operate becomes a little more negative. shoes whether flung at speakers or bangs on podiums make the occasional appearance in politics now it seems after the e.u. rejected italy's proposed new budget it was the turn of an italian n.e.p. to put his foot or rather his shoe down.
2:09 pm
the first time the european commission has rejected any member state budget proposal the block gave just three weeks the revise its spending plans little quarter breaks down the. brussels a sharpening its knife in preparation for a new battle with rome for the first time the e.u. has flat out rejected a member states budget demanding a resubmission. for the first time as a commission is obliged to the. country that it was off the budget. but we seen nor do. it all and. it is really into the whole. the e.u. claims that italy's debt situation is out of control and that salvias government
2:10 pm
needs to tighten its purse strings and fulfill its obligations the euro skeptics say it doesn't have anything to do with money since there are other states with bloated budgets that have never felt such a heavy hand from brussels this is the first time in budget the e.u. doesn't like no surprise this is the first italian budget written in rome not in brussels. you tell me an economy is healthy and this is an economic move that will give. needs we won't change one comma in this document to. be you know to go to. the. on. the future. spain belgium portugal and slovenia have all been in violation of the e.u. agreements in the past and for years france has broken the three percent deficit threshold imposed on it by the e.u. as for debt it's been in the red since two thousand and two and only this year the
2:11 pm
second largest european economy received a carefully worded letter in response asking all very politely to reduce its debts . we thank you for sending the front twenty nineteen draft budget that we received on october fifteenth we would like to ask you for more details the commission's preliminary assessment also indicates that the growth rate for france does not respect the reference rate of did reduction in twenty nineteen so italy refused to be taken to heel by this double standard. except the e.u. commissioner in charge of budgets didn't seem to find the stunt very funny even connecting the italian shushan and against to a potential quick path to fascism the episode of the made in italy shoe is grotesque at first you smile and we trivialize it because it's ridiculous but then we start getting used to this kind of muted symbolic violence and one day we wake

up with fascism stay alert democracy is a fragile treasure or the draft budget would have seen over five hundred million dollars worth of cuts to defense spending while putting more money towards social welfare and tax cuts not exactly a sound way to revive fascism and certainly not a good way to be a shoo in with the new donald quarter r.t. . now in germany mangler merkel's hard fought grand coalition could be facing another setback polls are predicting a poor show in regional elections in the state of hester on sunday among the main contenders are the green party which is allied with other left wing forces to the right wing a f d party though is also expected to strengthen its position as peace all over reports the party known for its anti immigration stance is said to chalk up another milestone in german politics just over a year since they shocked the country by entering the border start for the first

time polls predict that this sunday alternative for germany will enter the state parliament in ahead for the first time that will mean that they have representation in all sixteen german stake. as well as the national parliament head of the vote in her alternative for germany have been campaigning aggressively. but you just want this to me and that momentum and the sticky see. if he. holds a special place for alternative for germany all the it was at a meeting there back in february twenty fifth the party was formed setting themselves out from the get go it's an anti establishment group focused on the economy. the parties in the bundestag and bundesrat don't do any politics in the interests all consideration of germany and europe but in the five years since its formation an alternative for germany has been widely criticized by those who

condemn what they see as its populist and racist stance. in germany has the rhetoric of the one nine hundred twenty s. and we'll move to coal and the continent see each other blatant problem with anti semitism the whole of the anti liberal party in the us here. was here. despite that they have enjoyed steady growth in the polls here in germany at times even coming in as the second largest political group in the country while taking up seats in has so would see them represented in all sixteen of germany states they aren't going to see this as job done or out. they just are ruling. who've the heads of the people they are doing things well the people don't want only as

been revealed that were you minister held a private unannounced meeting with major fracking firms from the talks back in may you reveal the u.k. has global ambitions the spread its fracking approach the news though only released now under freedom of information rules. there is no model of fossil fuel extraction that we should be pursuing much less trying to sell globally not content would undermine you case own climate change targets the government seem intent on wrecking your fits of other countries by exporting the u.k. model of fracking around wild. the meeting has compounded the current woes of the
2:18 pm
fracking industry in the u.k. last week or drove one of the firms who met the minutes that was forced to suspend operations in lancashire the north of the country off the earthquakes with detected not too far from its working site on to support a worker who has more. well energy company calls that a might cross seismic event others might call it a tremor or even a tiny earthquake it took place on friday morning around quadrillions fracking site and as a result of the exploratory drilling taking place the company's released a statement explaining what took place in the seismic incident say to say it happened at eleven thirty am it measured north point seven six on the richter scale and the company was alerted to it because it was immediately flagged up as a so-called red light tremor on the sort of dangerous scale of fracking anything over north point five constitutes a red light event so this was quite far into red light territory and as
2:19 pm
a result pools to operations bonds only for eighteen hours in order to monitor seismicity levels in the area the statement says they expect fracking to restart in the morning and then goes on to play down the incident take a listen. microsoft is big events such as these results in tiny movements. anything that would be filled surface much less cause any harm or damage without the sophisticated monitoring in place it could drill and they would not be detected so no big deal according to the company doing the fracking but that's not what environmental campaigners and local activists have to say about it the commencement of drilling in the u.k. has been bred to be contentious and dogged by. and legal challenges in fact three anti fracking protesters would jailed a public nuisance when they protested the start of drilling at that site in
2:20 pm
lancashire earlier this summer in fact they're thought to be the first environmental protesters to be imprisoned since nineteen thirty two although they were released by the court of appeal earlier this month the seismic incident this morning is by no means the first time a tremor has been recorded as a result of fracking in the u.k. there have been twelve line incidents or twelve minor tremors this week alone at that site in lancashire and if you chart the history of fracking in the u.k. back in the spring of two thousand and eleven quadrillion was given permission to start exploratory drilling at another site in lancashire and there were fifty tremors then and one was so strong that it was felt by locals in the area i covered that story then i went to man's house he showed me a crack in the wool that had occurred he said as a result of that mine quake caused by the drilling so operations were suspended then and not really the best start to the fracking operation up in lancashire for
2:21 pm
the u.k. government now this was supposed to be the beginning of the u.k.'s shale revolution and ministers are nevertheless determined to crack on with it so much so that it's been revealed in the guardian that the energy minister here in the u.k. can. perry she had a meeting with fracking firms earlier this month which she failed to record on the transparency register where she apparently told fracking that the government hopes to create a u.k. model for shale gas extraction which can be exported all around the world but given this latest seismic incident it looks like that model could use a bit of improving. joining us now is tina louise. campaign one member of free lancaster thanks for joining us tina good to have you on the program. the locals concerns about these tremors being felt i mean do you know anyone that has actually
2:22 pm
felt these traumas or maybe of you experienced them yourself. the tremors that we're currently having i believe has been seventeen so far and not felt tremors we don't feel them above ground but it doesn't mean that there is nothing dangerous happening as a result of those tremors first star it's highly indicative of what we can expect in the future as they ramp up operations on what they hope to be the largest gas field in europe and also there's the concerns that we have about the integrity of the well because there are things at that depth and that's the well itself so we worry that this is a forty plus stage fracking operation on this one well and they hope to one day have over forty wells here i just don't see how they can scale this up you know we are deeply concerned in the residents who live nearby are deeply concerned when they go to bed at night what will happen you know the things that we have foretold about there being seismic activity as a result of this coming true and so for
2:23 pm
a lot of these residents who are now starting to get messages where they say i'm scared can you give us some reassurance and i think the fact that the b.t.s. is reporting this stuff has made it clear that they're not a regulator in this and we worry that our regulators who are involved in it i were working far too closely with the industry and those that are working with the industry are fairly toothless and unable really to intervene in any meaningful way obviously a lot of emotions involved in this in this issue but i mean what actual evidence is there that these tremors are down to fracking and if there is the scientific evidence that proves that it's dangerous why do you think continue to do so despite this clear risk. well it's been eight years the seventy things similar is happen will seven and a half and eight years this is anything similar has happened with the seismicity around here and the last time was one quarter of a fracking as well so it's almost without doubt or i think they're fairly certain in that they're not worried about that they're quite content to say yes when they
2:24 pm
expected this to happen or maybe they expected it to happen but they certainly didn't broadcast it widely that that was one of the things while so busy getting chile for it you know and the fact that you know when you talk about the clear perry meeting for instance they are working far too closely with our government and it makes us deeply concerned for what democracy actually is when industry can work so closely with governments and utilize what we feel is our residents as guinea pigs you know we are the at risk people and the government is quite content to keep on pushing this down on us whether we said no which we did through our council three hundred thousand objections went in just two days ago to object to the fast track fracking and what clear perry will have been discussing i would imagine with industry was how smooth she could make it all of them if she eases planning restrictions and. have worked with the regulators to make it a lot simpler i mean she was talking about you know we were kind of point with the size of this point by and she was talking about raising that level so that they
2:25 pm
could cause a lot more seismicity or having to shut down you know we are deeply concerned this is an industry that's got off to a very bad start seven years ago and has yet to redeem itself and when they talk about exporting our expertise what x. the teased it would take decades to get expertise we certainly don't have it now as has been proved so the energy today is still not produced its accounts which it was asked i think it just produced its accounts and he showed it in a diabolical state you know these industry this industry is not what it sells itself as government has either been hoodwinked or is somehow in collusion what do you make of the government's approach overall to for. i mean do you feel that local residents concerns are being listened to there is of course the other side people say you know this could create jobs this could lead to u.k. energy independence from other gas imports from russia for example what do you feel your concern i mean listen to. i think as you're probably as well as we are we get
2:26 pm
less than one percent of our gas from russia and i mean depends whether we're having an issue with russia that we call into our government really doesn't it but yes we get less than one percent so that's neither here nor there that issue with regard to. the way the government is saying they'll be jobs well they only have to do research is easy to do you know you look at jobs in fracking for start you find the highest it's a silicosis so it's not a job we want our kids to have and also if you look to victorian australia where the ban is they proved after a five year cross party study for every ten jobs you get in fracking you're going to lose eighteen in agriculture so you talk about what they've got to bring us but not what about the things we're going to lose along the way we'll lose our agriculture will lose out terrorism nobody wants to go through the gas fields before they get to blackpool tower so the government working hand in hand with them is been something that's been a revelation to many of us you know you may have thought you had a few issues but this is the meticulous you know and we talk about the government
2:27 pm
any government but on a party by party basis over the last seven years it's now only the conservative party who are actively supporting this industry and even then not all of their m.p.'s within that there are so throughout the country where these licenses are even by conservative m.p.'s but when we started out seven years go into this just three groups the whole of the u.k. was at risk and only the green party supported us but now all of the parties except the conservatives all of the unions except the and also sorry the gas flow because you can and everywhere only england is still at stake you know scotland ireland wales have banned or halted it so we're the last last little bit of the puzzle and they're still trying to flog it like it's a golden thing you know where's the cheerleaders for this. out of time great to talk to you there is so much interesting facts there and all maner such a contentious emotive issue and so i think for quite some time. you fracking
2:28 pm
campaign a thanks so much for joining us out of time thanks for coming on today that. russia's security service claims it's busted and i sold terrorists out in moscow which had been planning attacks in the capital lottie's reports six suspects were reportedly arrested during this raid and they were being directed by receiving instructions directly from senior ice the ship the federal security service which carried out the operation put out a statement in which they said these men were planning to carry out a resident terror attack in moscow using firearms as well as improvised explosive devices perhaps something like we saw in paris in two thousand and fifteen the massacre there now judging by the footage of the raid these men were very very well financed we saw stacks and stacks of cashel though we weren't given an exact number but law enforcement say they were financed from abroad via money transfers as well
2:29 pm
as from profits gleaned from criminal activity investigators also found a variety of automatic weapons as well as communications gear plans on the potential attacks that these men were going to carry out as well as blueprints for improvised explosive devices according to the federal security service these men put a lot of effort into remaining detected staying under the radar but now that they're in custody now that the investigation is a full swing doubtlessly will see more details about their sponsors their facilitators allies and others. if that's it for this hour joining us again very shortly for the latest global news updates.

the thing about saudi arabia is they oil as a weapon and they get too close to investigating what's going on there they push the price of oil up now on the last ten years because of fracking in america america position to stop us energy independent and no longer subject to the political pressures that can be borne upon them from opec and the saudis so we're going to see a real test of this because. all of these a litany of horrors coming out of saudi arabia is making people feel. readings and salutation. as the u.s. corporate news media continues to lose their collective minds over the you know bombing that wasn't and c.n.n. can finally spend quality time justifying their victimhood i mean goodness gracious
