today google has been in the hot seat as members of the u.s. house of representatives got on their pedestals and grill but company's c.e.o. steve malzberg until we're standing by to discuss and as we close in on the end of the year and markets seem to be reacting more like roller coasters that anything else we talk to market volatility with and he's the president and c.e.o. of signature profits and speaking of hot seats there is more boeing bad news as the aircraft maker continues to be plagued by problems with the seven thirty seven max a jet we've been telling you about for the last month former national transportation board official jamie financial joins us with the latest from the philippines from manila and he's done it again tesla c.e.o. he'll on must continues to prove he's not only a great innovator but his old worst enemy the car coach lauren fix will joins us and address his most recent messy missteps and look to other auto related issues from today all that directly ed but first let's have some headlines let's go. to.
7:31 pm
the intersection of business and politics and the internet leads our global report today as the chief executive officer of google soon darpa k. faced questions from the judiciary committee of the u.s. house of representatives and not too long ago when the senate intelligence committee in vital google to send a senior representative to a september hearing on cybersecurity and social media google refused to send mr k. or his predecessor and co-founder larry page in that hearing senators memorably put an empty chair at the table in place of mr k. mr mckay attempted to tamp down concern for human rights groups about google's reported plans to build an internet search engine designed to accommodate chinese censorship called project dragonflies mr mckay did not debunk the allegation instead saying quote right now we have no plans to launch in china right now he said and the hearings came less than twenty four hours as. after google announced
7:32 pm
that the information of fifty two point five million google plus users including names e-mail addresses occupations and ages has been compromised and google will close the social platform by april of next year joining us take a closer look at conservative commentators steve malzberg and hilary ford which is c.e.o. of strobe mark and guys thanks so much for being here appreciate both of your thoughts on this going forward steve i caught some of the hearing and there were a few fireworks what were the questions that you saw from the committee that merited our boom busters knowing about today well you know he started by saying i run this company without political bias because he anticipated what was coming mostly from the republicans accusations of bias against conservatives and well documented in many cases but so loft grid democrat from california asked him a question which i was unaware of why when you put the word idiot in the search engine and you google it and you get go to image is why does donald trump come up
7:33 pm
he had no answer for that then the republican jim jordan as you might expect he went after an e-mail that was written right after the two thousand and sixteen election by the head of the multicultural outreach for the company that bragged about we got out the latino vote in key states which turned out to be nevada and florida he was asked about why that it would ever be how they do it and then he read from the e-mail they helped pay for rides working with groups like voto latino to get people to the polls they also bragged in the e-mail as she did about how they manipulated or configured their features to help get out the latino vote he denied it all he said we looked into it it never happened and jordan was incredulous said are you calling are a lot who did this and she making it up didn't happen didn't happen and one more lamar smith congressman from. this republican said algorithms one study has shown
7:34 pm
that hillary got two to three million votes based on your algorithms extra votes that you wouldn't have gotten because of influence another study shows you google donald trump only the top ten stories are all from liberal publications who programs your algorithms he said no human being can possibly program an algorithm which i found shocking as well so he face of fire yeah well these. and i'm not going to swing at the first softball about it steve to be militant no sir not going there but you know these algorithms that you know they are the it's the source code that they set up i know a little bit about this from trading i mean once you set up the parameters now the parameters in individual certainly can but once it starts moving and morphing and using sort of a i then it's really off on its own at least that's how it's been described to me
7:35 pm
hillary notwithstanding some of the things steve said which don't sound like he did too well how did you think the c.e.o. did well first of all thank you pleasure to be here at least he was able to get out of his car which is more than we can say for theresa may when she went to meet ankle a market which is all that identical so but he obviously look he's smooth and he was delft in terms of handling all of those that interrogated him because number one he kept saying i'm happy to answer that question and then he would get on that was diametrically opposed to being happy so he had been either coached brilliantly or he's quite brilliant at deflecting the very purpose and point of a question actually when steve mentioned out longer and he was totally right about what she said but she also spent more time talking about the fact that amazon wasn't going to locate in her district the new google has so really i felt like almost every single politician including kevin mccarthy a republican most of them were just really trying to butter him up i felt like and i felt that. everybody really went rather soft on him we were expecting
7:36 pm
a terrible interrogation and that's not what it was and so he was able to sidestep every single question that he received you know it sounds cynical but it's true i mean sometimes these no answers are what they do and i know for a fact google has a huge lobby shop here in town and so that they are they do the murder boards where they give all the toughest questions and tell them how to evade and that's nothing unique to google that's how this place on fortunately operates how it works and he said about evade if you take any subject and you don't want you to be deciding to do this take any subject about any of our audience take any subject play put it into google and see which network responses come up with that said you know what the number one primetime network is it's fox but you will not see that on google so what's that about any topic and the primetime number one network doesn't come up they you can tell yourself absolutely let me ask you steve did this whole issue of
7:37 pm
privacy come up i mean you know that seems to be the key thing i mean i know i heard a couple people ask you but i mean this is a big deal fifty two point five million people their information leaked i feel like we're just reporting this stuff and it just goes away what do they say today well yeah i think that that played a secondary role that bess and i think you're absolutely right i think we are so used to it now and we expect that anything we put out there is not going to be secure and we do it at our own risk i think where it did come up is in discussing future regulation and by the way in his opening statement he said that he's welcome and open to regulation and working with regulators in this country and elsewhere around the world which is and i get another smart thing to say but his idea is i think and i'm pretty sure the difference is he wants the user to have to opt in to having their privacy protect. where as regulators eventually go to pass regulations
7:38 pm
i think that makes an incumbent upon the platform to make sure that that's protected without the op did feature but it didn't play as big a role today as you might have thought it would have i agree with your assessment by the way i think that's where they're going to go you have to opt into it we're out of time off to leave it there for now but thank you so much hilary for which steve thanks guys appreciate it welcome pleasure ex-parte. and major financial news from india as the governor of the nation central bank has resigned the resignation of the governor of the reserve bank of india birgitte patel was reportedly prompted by mr patel's concerns about prime minister narendra modi's infringing on the independence of the r.b.i. with demands for relaxed monetary policies and lighter and forstmann for india's troubled state banking sector you know what that's like in the us mr patel's resignation follows the exit of a number of senior economic adviser to president to prime minister modi the indian

7:40 pm
as the year closes out the markets have been on a rock n roll roller coaster hill talk about market volatility is the president and c.e.o. of signature profits andrew keen and you're welcome we're so glad to have you thanks for joining in before we get volatility we're just talking about google of course their parent alphabet is the stock and it is down year to date but actually up just a little bit for fifty two weeks it was trading lower for much of the day during that hearing on capitol hill at around one thousand and fifty six dollars per share is alphabet a buy from your perspective. currently i don't have a position on it i'll be looking to play it for earnings which is the end of january and i'm going to look to get long it i think here you know a reward or risk that up looks pretty good recent lows of a thousand dollars we backed it out about six months down to about nine eighty four i think it's a buy here i think it goes up from here forward twenty two which is in line with s. and p. it's got so much negative press which was going out of capitol hill and what's
7:41 pm
going on with the database you know infringements but i think google is a buy here i do not currently have a position. let's move to volatility of a sort of related to google which has been volatile but we had some high volatility of markets earlier the in this year and then again october was crazy for a couple of weeks and we seem back to that higher a lot of level of volatility now is this sort of the new normal as markets try to find some sense of balance. yeah it's definitely the new normal one thing i look at the c.b.o.t. is volatility index known as the vix and you know twenty is a high historical number and we need we get these rallies usually when we get rallies the vix goes lower and when the market sells off the vix goes higher the vix is staying at twenty two what that tells me is that movement is here to stay i don't know how long it's going to be here to stay but movements here to say you look at today we opened up up thirty points and s. and p. five hundred futures in four hours or we're down twenty that's a fifty point move i've been trading almost every day for sixteen years volatility
7:42 pm
that moves this much throughout the course of the day basically and no really key important news is unbelievable you know volatility creates opportunity is a trader it's crazy the moves we have i was looking at between now and the end of the year they're implying the acid p. five hundred futures are going to move a hundred points either to the upside or the downside i'm leaving bullish but volatility is here to stay keep an eye on the number on the victim alcatel you if volatile is going to keep moving going forward i mean the only news that was out today that really seemed to have any impact was the president's meeting with nancy pelosi and chuck schumer that didn't go gangbusters but who would have thought otherwise but let's talk about you know we always talk about the impact on average traders on average people when there is less syllabi of markets every traders seem to pretty much get comfortable dealing with markets but they're not high speed traders so when there's a lot of volatility like today you're talking about you know these changes could
7:43 pm
happen really quickly if there are you know off buying gifts are out big move could be made so how to average traders deal with higher volatility yeah a hundred percent these moves are being made by high speed traders anybody that says they're not is crazy you know we sold off fifty points from the highs yesterday we rallied fifty points from the lows the high speed traders are in control they're taking control of this market the way i personally trade in a higher balled. environment i have smaller positions on so usually have pretty big outrage one hundred to three hundred options at a time now in training a lot smaller because my piano swings are going to move so much so as a long term investor pick and choose your spot realize if you buy google today you might not have to buy a whole position you might get an opportunity to get into it under nine eighty if you buy apple you might have an opportunity to get in that one fifty five one fifty so average an n for a long term investor and as a trader which i am trading
7:44 pm
a small their account trading smaller quantity than i normally am is the right way to play it hey andrew we are all out of time this time but we sure appreciate you coming on and i hope you come back you're really helpful and lots more questions we just grabbed the surface will get to it again and your kid president c.e.o. of signature profit thank you andrew thank you so much. and time now for a quick break but hang here because when we return formal national transportation safety board official jamie fish will join us from the philippines of manila where the latest bad news about boeing is related to those seven thirty seven max a jet will be discussed and the car coach lauren fix will join us and discuss you on the must most recent meseems misstep and look at other auto related news as we go to break here are the numbers at the closing bell we will be back in a flash. you
7:45 pm
know world is a big part of the market and conspiracy it's time to wake up to dig deeper to hit the stories that made stream media refuses to tell us more than ever we need to be smart we need to stop slamming the door on the back and shouting past each other it's time for critical thinking it's time to light. for the middle for the truth the time is now for watching closely watching the hawks. when lawmakers manufacture consent to instant of public wealth. when the ruling classes protect themselves. when the financial merry go round lifts only the one percent. that's not

year at this time. and returning to the united states telecom major of arisan has announced a ten thousand four hundred employees have accepted a voluntary buyout offer the offer which could entail payment of as much as sixty week of pay and other benefits depending upon the length of employment reportedly has extended the total of forty four thousand varieties and employees that are parting workers comprise roughly seven percent of all horizon employees verisign stock fell on the news. and we've spoken several times about that fatal lion air crash in indonesia which took the lives of all the. one hundred eighty nine people on board that boeing seven thirty seven max eight jet well there is more bad news for boeing for the latest we go to manila and our friend former director of family services at the u.s. national transportation safety board jamie finch jamie we're glad for you to be with us we know it's probably zero dark thirty there but good to see of my friend
7:50 pm
there are a couple of not so great news updates to this evolving star story let's start with those safety manuals for the seven thirty seven max eight give us the latest jamie well the lady says that there has been a lot of consternation within the industry with pilots with with airlines that are flying these so in the seven max and max series of aircraft because there was no. instructions or new. inclusions in the manuals for. the new aircraft when they were being delivered by boeing there is a lot of confusion about that this is it i'm going investigation there's going to be a lot more information coming out of this as the next year goes on it takes about a year for these two best stations to conclude. but poehler and reports and concerns that are coming out of the industry is that they are. very upset with boeing or at least concerned perplexed i should say of why boeing did
7:51 pm
died in this crisis more with this new system. jamie i know their stock has been a downward trend for the last six months back in zero selling at three hundred seventy bucks per share and today it was trading around three twenty in the last thirty days alone it lost about thirty bucks per share that sense that lion air trash now lion air says they may not even the fill their orders how is boeing doing with their orders with the seven thirty seven max eight overall. but some interesting boeing just hit sixty one deliveries in november this of this year that's up from fifty last november. in so boeing seem abilities an as in the in the last few years had some bottleneck issues with supply chain and it seems like they've worked out some of those those kinks that they've had in the system and are are said to be training two to reach new record
7:52 pm
levels deliveries for four of all of their aircraft or twenty eighteen. a lie in air with the intonation aircraft. part of their life that is they have the crash in october with some of the recent mag series they are all very upset with boeing obviously what we're getting into delhi's is a very typical best case which is that he said she said. that they said they said situation. in the bay are pointing fingers at each other. but lion air is you know doing unless they were saber rattling that they're going to cancel their orders or or defer them. and that's they have one hundred ninety more on order and that's twenty two billion dollars what's going on making money all those jamie that would be a big deal we so much appreciate you keeping up on this jamie we're get right out
7:53 pm
of time but we prefer to be in there thank you so much jamie appreciate it. if you are you. and we now move to tesla and he's done it again c.e.o. elon musk told leslie stahl of sixty minutes she he does not expect respect the u.s. securities and exchange commission the f.c.c. doesn't respect them as you may recall the f.c.c. fine mr must twenty million dollars and fined tesla the company twenty million dollars for mr bus tweets which gave false market signals about the possibility of tesla going private mr musk was also required to step down as chairman of the tesla board here for more tests and other auto news is the car coach lauren fix who joins us from san diego hey lauren thank you for being with us what do you make of the newest episode of how to sabotage your company all by yourself. well i think he's doing a good job the seven self i think at some point is the f.c.c. is totally spineless or they're going to wake up and say wait
7:54 pm
a minute this guy is really not paying attention i mean he puts out some of the wildest tweets that i had in his followers they buy stock they sell stock it's you know i it's so volatile i wouldn't even get involved in the stock for that but the fact that he's basically disrespecting the s. and c. i hope they come back and they they set an example of him because that is not a good example to set for the rest of us that's not how you want to treat regulators how is test of the company doing overall at this point i know you're not a big fan but they made any improvements their production etc lauren. well right now you know he's producing vehicles and the fact is if you go online and look there's something called shorty air force base you can look that up and that is an air force base that is old an old air airport and he has parking cars and they're stacked up there so what he's saying is producing these vehicles in mass quantities would produce a thousand a day or whatever his number of the moment is they parked them and they're actually all wrapped up and there's people that have drone footage of it so the fact is he's producing cars that are being sold so if you want to buy a model three today and not the stripped out first and one that's loaded that means
7:55 pm
fifty to sixty thousand dollars they're available i think is big problems going to be after the first of the year when that seventy five hundred dollar tax credit gets cut in half consumers are going to start looking at other products such as the jaguar i pace or the audi a tri or you know maybe even a nissan leaf there's other products out there you can get that seventy five hundred dollars tax credit or a chevy volt evie and you can get a vehicle that gets you into that if you want to get into that electric car market segment but the fact is i don't know in the long haul what a situation is and you just put out a tweet just recently just before the show started saying that he was he was thinking about eliminating the chairman honorary chairman position that he currently holds in the ever know what may be a flight to mars one way or another yet while he does want to do that right but maybe there won't be connection metal. now we talked about this last week but this is the gift that doesn't stop giving a japanese court has rejected a complaint filed by former nissan chairman carlos ghosn over determination to
7:56 pm
continue to hold him for an additional ten days following his three weeks the detention tokyo prosecutors accuse mr gono of underreporting income from nissan by about five billion yen that's about forty four billion bucks us meanwhile mr gold's in native brazil a court filing points to a treasure trove of art and cash hidden in his apartment and authorities say they want it lauren the story keeps getting more and more bizarre doesn't it. it is very bizarre the fact is that this was part of a payout plan that. it was supposed to get your right it was a bonus for when he retired so if he took his own money and purchased art they can't secure that what the real fact is we're finding from the insiders in the auto industry is his goal was to replace than the current nissan c.e.o. with somebody else and that they didn't like and so number you can indict a ham sandwich that doesn't mean that the ham sandwich is guilty so in this case they just keep putting out more statements that he's dishonest that he's doing
7:57 pm
these things wrong and until then because their government runs differently than the u.s. government they're holding him so in the meantime he did get permission to go into his apartment real because that's where he's from in brazil and i'm sure someone's going to go and secure his artwork and his collectibles there his however nissan says the reason they don't want him in there is they're claiming he's hiding material information that would make him guilty i don't know i was starting to get really fishy it sounds like a made for t.v. movie it is we have one with the on must show we have one with carl's gone show boy what's going on in the auto industry we sure appreciate you spending time with us lauren that lauren fix the car coach thanks more in particular thanks bart. and that's it for this time thank you for being with us we sure appreciate you being on board you can always catch us at youtube dot com slash boom bust r.t. so long for now.
