question for the democrats some of these we know we do have the they left the designated survivor i'm not talking about the t.v. show they actually have a dozen or so however so you know we're kind of trying to go through of who it could be because you actually have to be confirmed and you have a president right now that has several offices that are not confirmed or their replacements have not been named yet does the do does this help or hurt president trump you think going into the latter part of his of his term the fact that he doesn't have people right now there are a full staff a full cabinet going on with that robert well you know this was just like watching the super bowl when you said to yourself the rams got to get off to a hot start to win and they did and they lost the president had a chance to go to a hot start when he had control of the house and the senate and he failed to do so by getting these appointments confirmed by getting many judges confirmed by getting this case but they completely pull fleshed out the way they needed to properly run the government so i think what we're going to hear from him tonight is focus on the points he's put on the board so far he had a great this is a mess oh see we had the first step that he signed into law we had the opportunity

zones for minority communities that were that were put in place so he's got points that he can put on the board but he can't let those get drowned out by poor messaging and by concentrating on wedge issues concentrate on the things that bring people together concentrate on criminal justice reform concentrate on economic opportunity for low income communities concentrate on infrastructure if you will concentrate on things that we all agree on and avoid the wedge issues and be a very successful speech well god forbid anything was taboo but just for you know they did announce about five minutes ago that the designated survivor is energy secretary rick perry is the one who will not be here tonight that is an undisclosed location right now that anybody would speculate that there is a they have the smart guy glasses that i made it look at is very very classy and i think somewhere he's probably getting a big state going this might be my last you know what if he's for a while to the point that we just made again i think that he's also going to bring up abortion because of what just happened right so i think and that's certainly not . to bring people together i think it's

a benefit to trump and i think his base wants it and i think america when they are educated and find out how far to the left new york state just went on abortion what virginia wanted to do what the governor of virginia said about abortion i think the public will be outraged is only twenty nine percent of green with abortion and no restrictions it's a winning issue for the republican supertramp and he's going to hit on it hard and i think you are right there about about that and normally you kind of seen presidents kind of tiptoe around where they went you know just talk about we support life president up here right and this is one issue that his base is united upon which i do find it interesting after we talked about kind of what happened with him putting the government shutdown opening a back up without getting the wall immediately this issue came back up and obviously his base not behind him that is the one thing we have talked about was the government shutdown does he address the government shutdown and the perceived weakness and the victory laps that we saw some of the democrats rightfully take of being able to get there and that it was just a waste of time as many of these congressmen and congresswomen have furloughed

government workers that aren't getting paid from do you think this is something that is something that he is going to rest on how does he address it properly i don't think it was a negative but you sense of being a paid vacation for federal workers for the end of getting turned out if they were strong or they had to use vacation possibly but then they get the drink specials in d.c. the end of getting them going back i mean what small business owners in this country they deal with it all the time constantly and so it's not a good thing but it's a sticking point when congress won't do its job when democrats will do their job for decades because they don't care about the border we talked about it being extreme to have a border it's extreme to have an unsecured border being former military we understand that and the democrats actually believe in border security they were all for it chuck schumer might as well be president trump on that issue twenty thousand fifteen votes when the optics change they got dominated and lost that now it's a problem and now they're they're they're fighting over the wording but they they want border security the dissent to admit it i think that that every as they do we kind of like a. presidential visit now and we're going to get to this conversation president trump is now entering the room here. and i see obviously like the traditional life

that everybody crowd around hoping to hold him to shake his hand if he's coming in and the people that are around him real quick on those things before we get to take it but if you just mention a good thing about the democrats do you sometimes feel like you're watching the same exact story but yet because they are they all agree with our oh thank you both there and bring the thing go but look it's not just the democrats who don't want border security as most of the republicans to remember their big business constituency they want they want they want exactly what didn't get his wall during that time the republicans. will not forget that credit scott king wrote a letter to head to one thousand nine hundred one opposing reagan amnesty from eight hundred eighty seven democrats have been trying to do something on border security in. two thousand and two thousand in two thousand and thirteen and two thousand and fifty they were blocked by republicans every time because they like cheap labor so they just became a party of a wall about six minutes ago for them to try to hang this around the. regular rank and file democrats sort of and i think i think i think it's only partly true the

republicans are exactly as described by the trump populist wing of the republican party is not that position that's why it's trump and his people versus the republican and democratic stablished now because the democrats are pulled out converts to the idea we should have open borders you could give illegal aliens benefits new york city free medical care this is all now part of the democratic constituency and it does relate to issues like syria afghanistan we will defend every other border in the world it seems except our world is going to disagree that anyone that boycotts a state of the union is a real disgrace at their own constituents to not come because they are throwing fits i think that's really embarrassing because the same way that i have no problem absolutely i think it would be embarrassing not to do your job you make one hundred seventy five thousand dollars here and walk around a million dollar staff and all these staffers that are running around and. it was joe wilson embarrassingly so you will argument chamber of congress i wouldn't on that i would have thought that was in a barrel. and i do i would submit that we're going to take or i'm going to. and he

ended up having to apologize and that's i think you are seeing especially a lot of these issues with the latest governor of virginia you are seeing parties realized immediately that they are going to have call their out their own on the floor and how they're on account of ok so we're going to present trump is a going up he's wearing a red tie i hope an american flag is on his lapel pin and we're going is giving his speech will be interesting to see how he addresses madam speaker nancy pelosi and let's listen to the president trying to live are the second state of the union complaining.

in a short period of time then any other administration during its entire ten year . while i think i'm pretty sure are coming back to our country in large numbers thanks to our historic reductions in taxes and regulations. either and we have unleashed a revolution in american energy the united states is down the number one producer of oil and natural gas anywhere in the world while i thought. thank you thank you and now for the

first time in sixty five years we are a net exporter of energy thanks after twenty four months of rapid progress our economy is the envy of the world our military is the most powerful on earth by far and america thank america is again winning each and every day god i

thank the members of congress this state of our union is strong was thank god. that sounds so good. our country is vibrant and our economy is thriving like never before. on friday it was announced that we added another three hundred and four thousand jobs last month alone almost double the number expected.

by the . an economic miracle is taking place in the united states and the only thing that can stop it are foolish wars politics or ridiculous partisan investigations. by the. if there is going to be peace and legislation there cannot be war and investigation it just does it work that way. we must be united at home to defeat our adversaries abroad.

this new era of cooperation can start with finally confirming the more than three hundred highly qualified nominees who are still stuck in the senate. in some cases years and years waiting not right. while i the senate has failed to act on these nominations which is unfair to the nominees and very unfair to our country now is the time for bipartisan action believe it or not we have already proven that that's possible in the last

congress both parties came together to pass unprecedented legislation to confront the opioid crisis a sweeping new farm bill historic v.a. reforms and after four decades of rejection we passed v.a. accountability so that we can finally terminate those who mistreat our wonderful veteran trial . and just weeks ago both parties united. for groundbreaking criminal justice reform they said it couldn't be done by the

. last year i heard through friends the story of alice johnson. i was deeply moved. in one nine hundred ninety seven alice was sentence to life in prison as a first time nonviolent drug offender over the next twenty two years she became a prison minister inspiring others to choose a better path. she had a big impact on that prison population and far beyond alice's story underscores the disparities and unfairness that can exist

in criminal sentencing and the need to remedy this total in justice she served almost that twenty two years. and had expected to be in prison. for the remainder of her life. in june i commuted alice's sentence when i saw alice's beautiful family. greeter at the prison gates hugging and kissing and crying and laughing. i knew i did something right alice is with us tonight and she is a terrific woman terrific alice please thanks. thanks
