job. even before it reached the shelves. good morning my name is kevin irwin this is arts international broadcasting live from r.t. h.q. here in moscow says just ten in the morning the big news all eyes on summit in vietnam. should have been a media conference in a couple of hours time as we were reporting everything looked like it was going well until about forty minutes ago when we heard that mr trump mr kim had gone their separate ways in the motorcade was seen leaving the summit site motorcade on the move pretty abruptly leaving the metropole hotel where they've been meeting and then taking him to the marriott where he is expected to go to feed on the rostrum there a lot of cameras a lot of media there we'll take you there as soon as he starts speaking to explain to the world what exactly hi. has happened between him and kim jong il and we're
2:02 am
still hearing that the meeting was productive even though there's going to be no official signing ceremony and no official maybe results of this but again let's wait and see our correspondent in hanoi is our t's evangelise sepsis yet all change quickly this evaluated didn't it there was going to be a meeting in three or four hours the talks seem to be going well then about forty minutes ago or something it all seemed to break off really quickly what's going on what have you what have you heard there. well indeed it did change quite quickly the talks between the two leaders kim jong il would and the president the united states donald trump were cut short due to nor grooming according to our white house officials and american journalists the. international media center the two leaders were actually supposed to meet nine am in the morning today to discuss one on one talks and then the out of bilateral meeting between them and their and their top officials after that the response to meet for lunch and
2:03 am
a signing ceremony which never happened after the. talks it seemed like everything just sunk in nor green was made and the actually how to end everything very soon now in just a few minutes the president of the united states will give a press conference and he would advice everybody and tell them what exactly took place in that meeting between him and the president of the north korea and the leader of north korea. or i eventually get to the ground where you are listening in as well to what donald trump has to say let's just to take our viewers now to the pictures from the marriott hotel as i say it seems that donald trump's limousine has pulled up outside there now. speak to the waiting press they're all waiting in great anticipation thought it might start a minute or two ago not happened yet huge store put by these talks there was a lot of optimism we were hearing that these discussions have been constructive even though no agreement has been reached the main point. is suppose what were the
2:04 am
sticking point to see what couldn't donald trump bring to the table to satisfy mr kim you know was there ever a chance that nuclear weapons would be completely. disbanded from north korea probably not because of course that was the north korean big bargaining card maybe donald trump didn't come to the table with enough cash maybe or aid or maybe dropping the sanctions against north korea right now we're going to hear from donald trump on what his side and his team what went wrong this morning or maybe they'll put another spin on it and just say no it's just been delayed because he did say earlier of course donald trump that. there was no rush to sort this kind of thing and it was also that thought as well of course they could announce a formal treaty ending the korean war that's gone on a course for decades it's open ended that would have ramifications on the way troops are assigned around that whole region but again nothing at the moment as
2:05 am
soon as donald trump takes the stage will break into whatever news were at the time for the next story is about donald trump as well surprise for us and we'll take it out and listen in and get a bit of analysis on it right let's go to our next story. so dull she was disgraced former lawyer michael cohen testified before congress wednesday and failed to provide any evidence of trump russia collusion he didn't get a warm welcome at the hearing where congressman accused him of being a liar cohen himself pulled no punches either when he talked about his ex boss. today i am here to tell the truth about. he is a racist. is a con man. and he is a cheat mr trump knew of and directed the trump moscow negotiations throughout the campaign and lied about it and i have never asked for nor would i accept a pardon from president trump ladies and gentlemen how on earth is this witness credible he's a fake witness his presence here is a travesty and you have
2:06 am
a history of lying over and over and over again he said we were in search of the truth i don't believe that michael coleman is capable of telling the truth he lied to congress through false statements and written statements he lied to congress through his testimony even if his false statements by releasing him refuting his lies to the public. because of. course the big things remember hillary say what he's saying now cohen was a confidant full more than a decade of his moment in the spotlight he's going to begin a three year prison sentence in the spring full tax and bank fraud as well as lying to congress we discussed his testimony with former u.s. republican congressman patrick flanagan. as we call it in the united states when election season comes near we call it the silly season and in the silly season silly things happen this is a little early. something that you'd see in the silly season colin is willing to
2:07 am
use the word racist and criminal and liar and anyone who's willing to speak in that absolute in that strongest terms in washington will always have an audience on one side or the other there was just an angry man who wanted to be chief of staff who didn't get to be chief of staff who was furious he couldn't make a ton of money off the trump name after trump was elected president has decided after all that he needs to get even in a vicious new york stupid sort of way and so he's going to come to congress and lie some more he's been disbarred for lying to the state of new york to spar they pulled his law license because he's a liar a man who took their promise who took that oath and then took another oath in front of congress and has lied constantly can't be trusted ever to tell the truth even if he is telling the truth it will require cooperation substantiation and some backup and none of that was provided today. meantime is no evidence of collusion that has been provided by trump closest ally the us media is hoping for another shot
2:08 am
a much anticipated report by the special counsel robert mueller for two year long investigation the results in june to be released in the coming weeks the media is already bracing itself in case no collusion is revealed. robert muller's work is nearly done justice department is preparing to announced as early as next week that attorney general bill barr has received a moeller confidential order that's not going to be the d.o.j. is telling reporters now those reports all will he or won't bob mahler's long anticipated report into trump's alleged collusion with russia is expected to be released later this week or maybe not media is covering every leak into the possible timing at this point even though we don't have the information the media and certain outlets seem to be doing damage control this is all building up to the report and love to speculate about this because it certainly high drama online is there again focused on robert moment there's at least a possibility of miller wrapping up with al gore and this report is almost certain
2:09 am
to be anti climatic a stark contrast to the media's previous wall to wall coverage of the collusion extravaganza the walls feel like they're closing in on the truth administration right now and i'm not sure that they can hold them off for much longer the walls are closing in and everyone is freaking out the walls are closing the wheels are coming off. the walls are closing in on president trump the walls are closing it with trump on the walls are closing in on the trump white house. all of the walls are closing in at this point the walls are closing in fast and. the collusion investigation is stretched out almost two years now and it's cost the taxpayers apparently twenty five million dollars and from the beginning donald trump has been adamant that there is nothing to find the politics of revenge resistance and retribution the entire thing is being a witch hunt the rush of hoaxes the hopes the which believe me there's no collusion
2:10 am
dozens of people have been indicted on multiple charges but so haul metaphor it roger stone and michael flynn who been indicted for among other things making false statements to the investigators they have an uncut. anything related to the crime that bob muller was originally investigating however the investigation itself has led to new the last two years there are some who are expecting that the final report will contain smoking gun revelations that will topple the administration or maybe not the investigation when completed could turn out to be quiet and it comerica not draw a conclusion about it again and just move on can't they if he finds that there was no direct collusion between the trump campaign and russia well we're going to have to do our own investigation and we are a short moeller report would mark the end of the beginning not the beginning of the end this saga for the president as legal saga doesn't appear to be anywhere close to being over as the press the conclusions of which we have not yet seen but yet the media is already making excuses for it and we're hearing that congress may pick
2:11 am
up the investigative baton why because as they say the show must go on welcome to american politics and twenty nineteen cable mopp and r.t. new york elsewhere no t probe into allegations that wiki leaks had to julian assange met with donald trump's former company pull money for cost down to the hop and honestly the chicken is guilty as all the this morning. sources say anonymous sources say well placed sources say one source multiple sources and on and on and on goes the merry go round the game of he said she said a staple of journalism and politics alike these days when so often so much is at stake across the atlantic action in congress is stealing the show there trump's former attorney michael cohen claims the us president was aware that we cue leaks would be dumping the infamous clinton e-mails that hillary claimed played a part in her not being elected among
2:12 am
a bunch of other allegations trump knew from roger stone in advance about the wiki leaks drop of e-mails mr trump mr stone on the speaker phone and stone told mr trump that he had just gotten off the phone with julian a song and that mr starr told mr stone that within a couple of days there would be a massive dump of e-mails that would damage hillary clinton's campaign. mr trump responded by stating to the effect. that the great was that in you said late july do you know the exact day. i believe it was either the eighteenth of the nineteenth and i would guess that it would be on the nineteenth but it was definitely july i believe so yes you know that was public knowledge in june this was mr saw an ad like to submit this you know with this for the record without objection so mr science reported to the media in june twelfth that those e-mails
2:13 am
would be leaked. we have e-mails and i had hillary clinton which. painting a publication that is correct so i'm not saying you have fake news and you have old news one of the pieces of this puzzle is we can leave that let's roll in from the presidency founder julian the funds have been here in london. a century at their core dorian empathy who did or didn't visit him in the time leading up to the major week and for what the guardian reported in november that trumps then campaign manager paul mann a fourth had been at the embassy in twenty sixteen months before the emails were released something both man a fort and we can leaks deny the paper reported that man of ford's visit was not logged as would usually be normal protocol but let's not forget that london's metropolitan police had kept a watchful eye on the embassy twenty four seven from twenty twelve until twenty

fifteen when nonstop surveillance ended but a so-called covert plan was bolstered it is no longer proportionate to commit officers to a permanent presence the m.p.'s will not discuss what form its continuing operation will take all the resulting implications surrounding it are to be filed a freedom of information request with the metropolitan police service to find out more since the confirmation of any controversial visits from the police would provide at least some certainty something that washington too had requested details on. it's no secret that you have been conducting surveillance of the equador an embassy in london since june in the sancerre entered it back in june two thousand and twelve can you please provide any documents relating to poor man a for its entering or departing the ecuadorian embassy since two thousand and twelve until the present and this is what we heard back to confirm or deny whether the m.p.'s holds any documents in relation to pull mine afford entering will departing from the ecuador going to moscow time as promised going straight to
2:15 am
donald trump who's speaking now in an annoyed looks like no deal with north korea let's listen in as has been incredible for the people of vietnam the job they've done economic development really something special so i want to thank all of the people of vietnam for having created us so well. we have i think reasonably attractive news from pakistan and india they've been going at it and we've been involved in trying to have them stop and we have some reasonably decent news i think hopefully that's going to be coming to an end it's been going on for a long time decades and decades. there's a lot of dislike unfortunately so we've been in the middle trying to help them both out see if we can get some organisation and some peace and i think probably that's going to be happening we have venezuela as you know has been very much in the news
2:16 am
and we're sending supplies supplies are getting through a little bit more it's not easy tried to believe somebody would say let's not do it what difference would that make except it's great for his people to let it get through but we're sending a lot of supplies down to venezuela people are starving to death. and you would really think that. the man in charge currently would let those supplies get through we're getting him into some of the cities and some of the areas that need him the most and it's not an easy job it's very difficult actually on north korea we just left chairman kim way to really i think a very productive time we thought and i thought and secretary pompei o felt that it wasn't a good thing to be signing anything i'm going to let mike speak about it but we literally just left we spent pretty much all day with kim jong who is.
2:17 am
he's quite a guy and quite a character and i think our relationship is very strong but at this time we had some options at this time we decided not to do any of the options and we'll see where that goes but it was. it was a very interesting two days and i think actually it was about one of those times and i let mike speak to that for a couple of minutes plus. thank you mr president we had been working our teams the team that. i brought to bear as well as the north koreans for weeks to try to develop a path forward so at the summit we could make a big step a big step along the way towards what the two leaders had agreed to back in singapore in june of last year we made real progress and indeed we made even more progress when the two leaders met over the last twenty four thirty six hours unfortunately we didn't get all the way we didn't get to something that that
2:18 am
ultimately made sense for the united states of america i think chairman kim was hopeful that we would we asked him to do more he he was unprepared to do that but i'm still optimistic are hopeful that the teams will get back together in the days and weeks ahead and continue to work out it's a very complex problem we've said since the beginning that this would take time or teams have got to know each other better we know what the limits are we know where some of the challenges are and i think as we continue to work on this in the days and weeks ahead we can make progress so that we can all timidity what it is that the world wants which is to denuclearize north korea to reduce risk for the american people the people all the around the world i wish we could have gotten a little bit further but i'm very optimistic that the progress that we made both in the run up to this summit as well as the progress that the two leaders made over these past two days put us in position to get a really good outcome and the president chairman kim both felt good that they had
2:19 am
made that progress but couldn't quite get along the lot along the line any further to make a deal that would have been bigger at this point i. in the weeks ahead. the . north koreans in may and. the sanctions the real sticking point. they were willing to deal newco orange portion of the areas that we wanted but we couldn't give up all of the sanctions for that so we continue to work and we'll see but we had to walk away from that particular suggestion we had to walk away from that with all the sanctions that are currently in existence remains are there in
2:20 am
place you know i was watching as a lot of you folks over the weeks of said oh we've given up we haven't given up anything and frankly i think we'll end up being very good friends with chairman kim and with north korea and i think they have tremendous potential i've been telling everybody they have tremendous potential unbelievable potential but we're going to see but it was about sanctions i mean they wanted sanctions lifted but they weren't willing to do an area that we wanted they were willing to give us areas but not the ones we wanted john. as we as we know i mean there's an incredibly complex set of issues that are a play here in terms of lifting the sanctions and what denuclearization is right did you get any distance toward sort of what teams vision of denuclearization is because we do there is there is a lot of. line of thinking that he wants to keep some nukes you know i mean would
2:21 am
you allow him to do that if you well i don't i don't you know i don't want to comment i don't want to comment on that exactly but he has a certain vision and it's not exactly our vision but it's a lot closer than it was a year ago and i think you know eventually we'll get there but for this particular visit we decided that we had to walk and we'll see what happens ok. look we have a gentleman nobody's ever heard of that was sean hannity what are you doing here sean hannity sure we let him do a question i don't care john. so. if he wants the sanctions completely off and you want. more on denuclearization how how can you bridge that gap between now and the next time you might sit down with time it'll be bridged i think and so at a certain point but there is a gap we have to have sanctions and he wants to de new but he wants to just two
2:22 am
areas that are less important in the air is that we want to we know that we know the country very well believe it or not we know every inch of that country and we have to get what we have to get because that's a big that's a big give us show and please. i work in radio and t.v. the mikes on mr president thank you mr secretary good to see you. mr president you can elaborate a little bit more. we have some history president reagan walked away in reykjavik a lot of condemnation at the time and it ended up working out very well in the end for the united states was this mostly your decision or and what would message you want to send chairman kim as he's listening to this press conference about the future and your relationship or you don't i don't want to say it was my decision because what purpose is that. i want to keep the relationship and we will keep the relationship we'll see what happens over the next period of time but as you know we
2:23 am
got our hostages back there's no more testing and one of the things importantly the chairman came promise to me last night is regardless he's not going to do testing of rockets and. nuclear not going to do testing so in there i trust him and i take him at his word i hope that's true but in the meantime we'll be talking mike will be speaking with his people he's also developed a very good relationship with the people really the people representing north korea . i haven't spoken to prime minister rabin yet i haven't spoken to president moon south korea but. we will and we'll tell them it's a process and it's moving along but we just felt it was inappropriate to sign an agreement today we could have i just felt it wasn't very appropriate and jonathan.
2:24 am
thank you mr president two questions if i may first did you learn anything new about chairman kim through this meeting and secondly of course while this was going on the drama back in washington your former lawyer michael cohen who works for you for ten years office right next two years or eight of my years at trump tower he called you a liar a con man a racist what's your response to michael cohen well it's incorrect and you know it's very interesting because i tried to watch as much as i could i was unable to watch too much because i've been a little bit busy but i think having a fake hearing like that and having it in the middle of this very important summit is really a terrible thing they could have made it two days later or next week and it would have been even better they would have had more time but having it during this very important summit is sort of incredible and he lied a lot but it was very interesting because he didn't lie about one thing he said no
2:25 am
collusion with the russian hoax and i said i wonder why he didn't just lie about that too like he did about everything else and he lied about so many different things and i was actually impressed that he didn't say well i think there was collusion for this reason or that he didn't say that he said no collusion and i was . you know a little impressed by that frankly because if he could have gone all out he only won about ninety five percent instead of one hundred percent but the fact is there is no collusion and i call it the witch hunt this should never happen to another president this is so bad for a country so bad you look at this whole hoax that's called the russian witch hunt i now add the word hoax it's a very very bad thing for a country but. i was impressed with the fact that he went you know because the most important question up there was one on collusion and he said he saw no collusion so we'll see what happens but it was pretty shameful i think yes ma'am please place.
2:26 am
not the president trying to hide what about one of you instead of three well actually i do have a microphone i guess so here's me excuse me person in the front go ahead. no no no no i got you she has me here we'll get to you thank you thank you president tonally sane and you think once on television what was the atmosphere like when you walk away from the negotiation table and i think it was very good very friendly this was in a walk away like you get up and walk out now this was very friendly we shook hands we you know there's a there's a warmth that we have now i hope that stays i think it will but we are you know we're positioned to do something very special that's been going on for many decades this isn't me you know this was this should have been solved. during many presidential runs and you know people talked about it they never did anything i get
2:27 am
a kick out of so many people from past administrations telling me how to negotiate when they were there in some cases for eight years they did nothing but i think the relationship was very warm and when we walked away it was a very friendly walk mike you might want to speak to that first. you know i agree i talked with my counterparts as well we hope we do more but everyone is very focused on how we continue to build on this we are certainly closer today than we were thirty six hours ago and we were closer then than we were a month or two before that so real progress was made i think everyone had hoped we could do just a little bit better but the departure was with an agreement that we would continue to work on what has been an incredibly difficult problem both sides are resolved to achieve it and everyone walked away in that spirit and i add un chairman kean are from very different political system you are from different generations and what is
2:28 am
a very different system i would say that's why how would how do you find you guys in common because we thought we just like each other i mean we have a good relationship yeah it's a totally different system to put it mildly but we like each other a good relationship go ahead in the back. mr president do you think it was premature to have held the summit when all these things had not being tied down i mean in the white house last night it said signing an agreement today and i wonder whether you have to be prepared to walk i could have signed an agreement today and then you people would have said oh oh what a terrible deal what a terrible thing he did you know you have to be prepared to walk and you know there was a potential we could have signed something today i could have one hundred percent side something today we actually had papers ready to be signed but it just wasn't appropriate i want to do it right i'd much rather do it right and do it fast. yes please sky. go ahead go ahead. go first go.
2:29 am
you have to speak up and. i'm a reporter from south korea and i appreciate your effort to bask in you can our ization in korean peninsula and could you elaborate on the options and the various ways that you discussed with chairman came to pass the nuclear. we just passed by we discussed many ways and the nuclear ization is a very important it's a very important word become a very well used word and a lot of people don't know what it means but to me it's pretty obvious we have to get rid of the nukes i think he's got a chance to have one of the most successful countries rapidly to on earth incredible country incredible location your repertoire in if you think of it you have on one side russia and china and on the other you have south korea and you're surrounded by water and among the most beautiful shorelines in the world there is tremendous potential in north korea and i think he's going to lead it to
