4:01 am
alive. three suspects are now in custody one of them is an australian national who reportedly free in the attack over facebook in a post right before the massacre he said he'd been planning it for two years. so brussels has indicated little appetite for further talks. it's eleven o'clock here in moscow you're watching all t international live from our studio with me. into the program and we start with breaking news this hour forty people are confirmed dead and forty eight injured in a double must shoot ing it to mosques in new zealand's christ church many of the people injured all are in a critical condition three suspects are now reportedly in custody one of them is a twenty eight year old australian national who has reportedly live streamed the.
4:02 am
massacre the place a warning that people shouldn't assume the danger is over. it was illegal i saw in the main the. right inside it would burn deep class people some of them were dead some of them were screaming the blood is spitting on lemon russian money and in all my world oh my god what happened to me now. this is one of new zealand's darkest days. in the studio by. been across this for the last few hours india. firstly we need to say this is an absolutely terrible tragedy it's one of the worst in the world seen forty killed and forty eight injured as we said before what's the latest information that we've
4:03 am
got on this. well we just heard from the prime minister. she said it's one of the darkest days in the history of new zealand it's as you're saying it's not one of the darkest days in the history of new zealand one to forty people and this is really one of the world's mass shootings in the history of the world not just as you know that is unprecedented for new zealand the most important question right now is whether the people are still safe because after the lockdown the mosques were told to be shut the churches were to be shut. taxes were over flights were canceled people will be going to bed right now but the city is deserted and we don't know whether all the perpetrators have been apprehended by the police here is the latest on that from the prime minister. obviously. is in custody now so i can give that assurance he has been apprehended he is. accompanied by two
4:04 am
other associates he is being actively question obviously at this stage only asking people to continue to follow the advice of the police yes we have ever hinted they have been three individuals a prohibited however the police and taking for granted that the my my. my need to be born into custody. so again as we're hearing it has not been confirmed just yet that all the perpetrators are the they've been caught by the police and also what's very important here at least as the good news that the improvised explosive devices attached to the perpetrators cars were at the fuse but who knows what else is out there who knows is out there in any case in that press conference i can tell you that we also heard another strong message from the problem in a store and let's just listen to what. we new zealand. we were not a target because we are
4:05 am
a safe house for those who hate. we were not chosen for the sake of violence because we condone racism because we are an enclave for extremism. we would chosen for the very fact that we none of these things. because we represent diversity kindness compassion. for those who share our values future for those who need it and always values i can assure you will not and cannot be shaken by this attack you may have chosen us but we actually reject and can deem you. ok we saw that the the prime minister speaking there. we're waiting for a press conference now it's right now so we're going to come back to you it's mike busch new zealand police commissioner let's listen in right now once and i want to
4:06 am
assure everyone that we will do our best for them. and at the end oh i will talk about it and give you the over eight hundred number so that people can contact us to get more information about those who have died and some surrounding circumstance. i would like to also add that so far one person. and his light twenty's has been charged with murder and should appear in the cross church court tomorrow morning. three other people were apprehended we believe one of those persons. who was armed and was of the same my it had nothing to do with this incident. and the two other people that have been apprehended began a position of farms in the general barmah we are working through to understand what
4:07 am
they are involved but. we have recovered a number. from both of the sains linwood revenue and. i would like to assure everyone. iran new zealand. every available police and emergency resource. with other government agencies and defense force are doing everything they can to keep their communities. we have no other three. since we responded to this incident. we. working with a wide range of community to give support to everyone who needs it we have staff around the country ensuring. that here everyone is keep safe and that includes. offenders and special tactics groups right across the country being very
4:08 am
vigilant and having a presence around all of our mosques to ensure nothing further the kids as i said this is a. evolving situation we will continue to bring you as much information as we possibly can i will answer your questions in a minute if i can have it before i do i would like to communicate the eight hundred number for people to call for more information especially around their loved ones and their number is zero eight hundred one one five zero one. i would also like to command and some of you would have seen the drive actions on social media of police who responded to this incident they have gone above and beyond on behalf of their communities. and at least one of these offenders
4:09 am
so i take my hat off to all of my staff from extremely proud of what that done today. thank you. security. and. so that's a very. good question. what i want to tell you right now is that we had no one from a no wait and see had any information about these please people. and i can also tell you that i've been in contact with my straying colleagues they have no information on them at all. and they are assisting with their inquiries but i can also add their power of this to get. all to be looked at will to look be to look back at every possibility to ensure their way. lauren foresman and security didn't miss any opportunities to prevent this horrendous event. ships planes.
4:10 am
saying. look. i would love to go into detail but a person has been charged for me to now go into the details of who did what would not be proper place which means and. again i know there is a name with an the public domain but it would be. improper for me now to confirm that because a person has been challenged to listen right on face to face to face nature. and you appear at. least. i'm aware of suggestion which we're working through at the moment when i have absolute clarity about where i'll be sharing that so i'm only aware of the suggestion i'm not aware of it actually existing but if it did i'll be sharing it try the speech so. we never assume that there are other people
4:11 am
involved that's why we've got i mean prisons. across canterbury and right across new zealand we don't have named or identified people that we're looking for but it would be wrong to assume that there is a. i want to. read you. read this point we are not actively looking for any idea to find pearson's days weeks months and came. i couldn't tell you but. i think i don't need to tell you this is a very well planned. event a serious crisis. so i'm aware of that commentary as well what i can say is there their personal is suggested there we have eliminated there is a possibility there was not we've also talked about. devices on two vehicles i'd like to clarify there and say that there were possibly two i.d.'s on
4:12 am
one vehicle and we have disabled one and were in the process of disabling the other with the assistance of the difference force with. close. to this we believe knowledge but of course there's a real heightened seeds. here within the communities. people are being very vigilant and i congratulate them and encourage their. two bags they will lift a berm out i've been detonated we don't believe they were vinnie three. days he's just so. stupid this week. he. should be the other thing we don't have any information to their extent but it's always important to take preventative precautions and that's exactly what we're doing it's crashed you. know i think there was some merely reporting of there but i was confused with a flag there forty people were taken there very quickly for emergency
4:13 am
medical treatment it was not targeted at. all. i'm not aware of that advice but we have we're giving everyone advice to be very vigilant and take care of yourselves and report any anything that you might find suspicious to us so that we can respond immediately. it's. just. i don't have any intelligence to that effect. so you and we did what you ask your question to say because. i don't have any intelligence so they had a fig i'm not ruling anything out we have there was wide open on this we're being extremely vigilant in terms of any possibilities and that's what we want to
4:14 am
ensure the public that we are right on top of these. well i have a they have a for survival one fails i'm always standing more they should be there from wellington now surrounding districts or sending staff i would imagine that every one of those one fers and. wanting to help out on this operation. to change because it's not right. well i think what the prime minister was referring to was what was published post one thirty three pm this afternoon. thank you very much thank you. there was a police commissioner mark a lot saying mike push the new zealand the police commissioner speaking giving a media conference. we were both listening to the to me it felt like the whole
4:15 am
press conference was about reassuring the public that they had everything under control now what do you mean it was definitely all about reassuring the public but i don't think he reassured the public completely because there are several very important questions on answered i can tell you but the key for now is that one man at least has been charged with murder it is someone in the late twenty's according to the police commissioner and he will definitely appear in court tomorrow something else that's very important here according to police commissioner mike bush was that no agency had any and full on these people on the offenders or any other perpetrators associates. in new zealand about them but also their australian call leagues according again to mr bush had no knowledge of this whatsoever before that police at this point cannot confirm if there were
4:16 am
one or two offenders that this is very important we need to understand if the other two people in custody could one of them be the offender or could the offender still be at large that is a question that we haven't heard on cers to from the police commissioner no we haven't have when they say they said that they had apprehended the three people one they can't connect with this to they're looking into it a day into their involvement now we're definitely sure one attack or two associates and they're still trying to figure out what's going on with the fourth one yet. i'm sure you'll be updated and you'll be back in the studio thanks very much for discussing this with the safe. according to reports one of the suspects is a twenty eight year old australian who streamed the shooting fire facebook he previously posted a white supremacist a man with. stowe his social media accounts have since been blocked as how some of
4:17 am
the witnesses describe an atrocity. at the time this year one forty pm the area in front of me only a gate for us to get and he came in to pass one but so on and he have short man one hundred fifty written and he had a map and he'd given that got a glass just and he said grace of the military and he's begun machine guns of the m. sixteen put out one and it. should go to another getting a gun. and he bust a what it would and not talk me here looking and not a week he started a guard. started a shootin and the people of the. issues and the shooting and then me that's a good how do you go one by one if you kill him and some people that. i think. you know from buffalo. or from you. after three or four minutes.
4:18 am
how do you know the fighting and it was from the main entrance the main entrance of the building. and then everybody from over the back doors just to save themselves and first we hide behind the car you know under the car then when we see their fighting still on marie try to. feel it jump the fence and then we hide the. next house with a mask on this side. fighting was on and on. and one person was with us. on. and. when fighting stopped by to just have a look from our friends there was one guy. changing years of the gun taking for that one because we part company. next to the most times. he just take the
4:19 am
gun and then points out again you know. joining us now is the professor of political communication from the university of tehran thanks for coming on to the program now we've heard time and time again over the last few hours as this whole story has unfolded that new zealand is not a place you with so see it with this kind of incident how big a shock to you think this is to new zealand itself and obviously the world in your opinion. you know this is one of the biggest mass shooting in the world history and fact that this happened to mosques and muslims i think is a message for the people that like to use muslims of terrorism all the time whether they'll get it or not the people who engaged in this obviously had training and
4:20 am
military training but training is not enough you need to have an ideology of hate against muslims and that idea of the hate is. being presented. on daily basis on even mainstream news outlets. you have. major companies major news outlets that. in that it lead promote it's not a phobia and so you have ideology of hate you have people who are military training and the result is going to be what you see today so i hope this is a message to everybody who basically. realize. what is happening here lies the fact that. muslims are victims of terrorism as in their community and then. realize that they can.
4:21 am
actually engage in activities to make sure that this type of event going to happen again. this is not going to be easy. as. president of the many decades. but we need to make serious efforts to make sure that type of ideology is not present in the general public. as. well and the governments the western. european governments. the prime ministers just didn't message was clear about that she said that they needed to be vigilant against extreme ideology and violence and saying it was unprecedented that anything like this had happened that they do experienced before . that's what you're saying but how early days obviously they're dealing with the incident now how is that going to be possible do you think in
4:22 am
a country like news event. new zealand i think. they don't have major problem is not. one of the countries that is invading. muslim countries new zealand is a relatively small country peaceful country. but this ideology of hate is international. the fact that one of the people who engage in this terrorist act came from australia and the fact that the australian government has been training its soldiers to go to muslim countries occupying muslim countries and train them to kill muslims basically. very engaged in this type of activities. some of your people some of the soldiers may end up using these are skills and ideology caught at military bases. on their own to go.
4:23 am
further has to step in that we don't know the background of the perpetrator and the person who's been wrested all we know is that they are in their late twenty's and that they will be. tried in court tomorrow morning in new zealand time obviously let's look at the case itself so in your opinion can this attack because the fact that it's been carried out in new zealand. hasn't been written kind of be written off as an isolated case just a few disturbed individuals or do you think that's a darker societal force working underneath in new zealand. i don't think it's you can just narrow this down to new zealand you have had mosques attack all over them in the united states in europe in occupied territories in palestine and when you look at the people who engage in this type of activities
4:24 am
the people who attack innocent people who engage in a slum the people who have access to weapons in use weapons to use and that want to be you basically dictates that you can kill muslims without any serious consequences you have united states government some european governments that are doing this killing muslims and daily basis what is happening in yemen for example the weapons that are used. are provided by the united states u.k. some other western countries so when you have individuals that are influenced by this culture of violence and culture of hate they look at their respective governments and they see these governments goodis basically on daily basis and they decide they can also engage in this type of activity and that's the problem we have
4:25 am
so we should blame the terrorists that killed apparently about forty muslims today but we should also blame the governments that. provide the training to these killers and then provide the ideology whether they realize it or not to for these people to engage in these type of activities so you cannot just blame the person who pulls the trigger you have to blame the people that set this stage for these people to do this. for the if we look at what happened during this particular attack there are reports that this suspect posted pictures of his weapons on twitter three days ago saying he was planning an attack why do you think these warning signs were missed and how and who do you think is responsible for monitoring social media it's very powerful isn't it. yes it is the intelligence services of these countries where some countries need to be monitoring these
4:26 am
individuals but it has there is a political decision by the governments of this country is to focus on muslims. consider. any muslim terrorist suspect and then they have limited resources so when you focus on muslims when you consider muslims to be terrorist then you don't have the money resources or the manpower to look at their terrorist organizations and that's why. even the people who engaged in this more or less an ounce what they're planning to do three days ago nobody really paid attention because nobody was able to pay attention because. the resources that are there that catered for this type of activities are not designed to find white supremacist example designed to find muslims and put muslims and the pressure that the gauge in
4:27 am
terms of or not so this is a this is a structural problem that we have that. these governments focus on muslims and then you get forty people killed. and you can't because you don't realize that other services are going to help a flood solution i'm afraid we've run out of time for a professor of political communication university of toronto you very much for sharing your thoughts on this very tragic incident now we have had and up to this tragic mass shooting carried out to mosque in christchurch in new zealand according to new zealand police commissioner forty nine people were killed and thirty nine injured one of the people injured are in critical condition the police commissioner confirmed four suspects were in cust. one of them a male in his late twenty's and he's been charged with murder and will appear in court tomorrow.

in other news now greg's it is heading for yet a nother cliffhanger after british m.p.'s voted to delay the departure from the european union the british prime minister will not return to brussels and seek an extension to the brakes a deadline with just two weeks before the currently shadchan to exit date prostration is building in westminster. we are like a circle in a spiral like a wheel within a wheel never ending or beginning on an adverse spinning real it's just going on and on and on now we're told that the way that we can avoid any delay is to support the deal that the government has concluded with the european union to get this house as my old girlfriend is just mentioned has twice rejected that deal most recently only two days ago the deal is dead it cannot be resurrected by his her deal and no deal a simply no longer viable option it isn't just the prime minister let down by.
4:29 am
the countries being misled and now the plan has been mislaid she has bludgeoned us black and blue without paying full deal on her robotic mantra of it's my deal or no deal this is a waste of time in the waste of time for our chamber and that should not be happening what we should be timid is thinking and mapping out the way forward and why full weight is to extend article fifteen british people are sick of it most people in this house. may well have a third chance of putting her divorce plan for before the house of commons next week the british prime minister has warned against rejecting it saying it would trigger a lengthy delay period and a say a choker looks at some of the possibilities still on the table this parliament turns on may. it's been a very hectic week here in parliament with a series of votes meant to eliminate certain possibilities of what bracks it might
4:30 am
end up looking like if you recall just on tuesday night we saw m.p.'s reject a recent breakfast deal that she paints stating we negotiated with brussels reject that for the second time around then on wednesday night we saw a big new move to the possibility of a new deal bracks it which of course still didn't take that option off the table however are no thursday nights the last of a series of crucial votes at least.
