the un security council over the escalation on the gaza border where israeli tanks have gathered i.d.f. jets have also attacked palestinian territory to retaliate for rocket fire. comes as the u.s. officially recognize israeli sovereignty over the golan heights a disputed area on the border with syria washington's previous me to be condemned by the un the e.u. and the arab league. spy no collusion found between donald trump and russia by the investigation media hysteria isn't dying down without this now blaming trump for making them suspicious in the first place.
1:01 pm
good evening and welcome this is r.t. international. the un security council as matter of the escalation between israel and palestine i.d.f. tanks of lined up along the gaza border after fighter jets attacks palestinian territory in response to a lead struck at fire tensions rising amid washington's recognition of israeli sovereignty over syria's golan heights an issue raised by the security council meeting yesterday president trump signed a proclamation recognizing the golan heights as israeli territory a decision of critical strategic and security importance to the state of israel. unilateral steps such as the recognition of israel as israeli sovereignty over the golan heights do not change the status of these territories which is determined by the third and it resolutions of the council and those who are complicit in these crimes must not be spared sensor of jerusalem and the syrian golan
1:02 pm
the exchange of fire comes as donald trump officially recognizes israeli sovereignty over the golan heights area the us discussed the issue with my colleague david today. well the international community has been somewhat pushed under the bus by this whole decision is the most vocal and there's have been of course the arab countries the whole of arab league made public a joint statement condemning the decision really standing out a condemnation by saudi arabia for instance you know washington's best in the gulf so it kind of tells the scale of the fallout this this trumps decision has had to also has condemned the move russia voiced its concerns in regards to the stability of the middle east because moscow believes that such a decision by trump really undermines that and also world syria of course it's a very it's their territories that's how the international community that's how the u.n. sees the golan heights as a syrian territory the u.s.
1:03 pm
policy on golan is reflected in the relevant resolutions of the security council and that policy has not changed year opinion in line with international law does not recognize israel's sovereignty over to territories occupied by israel since june one thousand nine hundred sixty seven including the golan heights and does not consider them to be part of israel's territory i suppose we need to understand what exactly is at stake in the current absolutely absolutely the golan heights is a strip of land on the border between syria and israel back in the eighty's in the course of a war it was occupied by israel and that is how it is classified internationally that's how u.n. puts it it is a syrian territory or by israel. i
1:04 pm
know for joe that a lot of the story. we who live in the occupied golan heights we dismiss the u.s. president's foolish recognition of the territory as israeli we want to tell him our fathers and grandfathers killed their blood on this land and you don't have a right to do that yesterday it was jerusalem our day and the golan heights to morrow it might be another syria territory. the true love israel wants to give the same thing we should give what is to give not what belongs to someone else he has fifty one states he can give israel wanted with them but the golan heights are not his property they are not his to give away now not the entirety of the golan
1:05 pm
heights is de facto under the control of israel there's a small portion of it that is still under damascus is control and i was lucky enough to visit that back last year back in twenty eight scene and really was something of a turnaround moment i think for that part of the golan heights because when i went there it was near weeks after the syrian army and the russian jets liberated that area from the control of i saw there were certain pockets of islamic state there like for instance we have heard the opposing views obviously to chance decision from the international community what about israel though surely this is the best outcome that they could have hoped for indeed for israel it is the best outcome but i go out on a limb and say that i can name one person who's particularly happened that things are shaping out as they are and that is the prime minister benjamin netanyahu because he's facing elections in a couple of weeks and in the run up to these elections he's been embroiled in
1:06 pm
a massive nasty corruption scandal now that he's thrown effectively he's thrown a bone to all those in israel sharing the nationalist ten. he not only has jerusalem recognized by the united states as the capital of israel but also you know as the golan heights. well the united states in turn has doubled down on its decision over the golan heights the spite widespread condemnation from the international community secretary of state insisted that country should accept realities on the ground. saddened by that but not surprised i remember the jerusalem of our embassy as well in each case we're simply recognizing facts on the ground and the reality and doing the right thing we hope those nations will join us to understand how important it is how right it is. and we are continuing to have conversations with you mentioned a handful of countries with each of them about this issue about our decision and
1:07 pm
why we believe this is fundamentally the right of. if you remember president tom served in his campaign for election criticize a previous alerts on policy if intervention in. people libya. in syria and knowledge beyond which he can interfere with. what the. we are sending a message that international law is not respected in this area there will be more would instead be in the area because of this issue and you want blah ploy would you cause an up life and then when you get action symbol up as a formula where is my form instability there you have gone to believe the avs you have to blame yourself for what you are doing in the area. u.s. republicans and democrats are trading blows over whether to release the full version of the reports which found that there was no collusion between donald trump
1:08 pm
address the republican house senators blocked a motion backed by democrats stop every single word published meanwhile trump himself assented that there will be payback for those who spread allegations of collusion with russia allegations that were exposed as false following a two year probe. there are a lot of people out there that have done some very very evil things very bad things i would say treasonous things against our country those people will certainly be looked at i've been looking at them for a long time and i'm saying why haven't they been looked at they lied to congress many of them you know who they are we can never ever let this happen to another president again. only a summary of robert miller's reports into collusion has been published democrats and parts of the meter are now demanding to see the entire thing in the hope of still finding the president guilty caleb maupin explains. for two and a half years u.s. media has given lots of airtime to the infamous russia gate allegations an online
1:09 pm
media no less than t.v. one study showed over five hundred thirty thousand articles on trump russia collusion allegations or the moeller probe have gone online since the probe was launched in two thousand and seventeen but now according to the report from special counsel robert muller it was all for nothing no collusion took place so why did the us media run so long with something that turned out to be a total red herring well some voices blame trump for it they say that it's his fault the media went with the story for so long why did donald trump and why did his administration and why did everybody close to him lie about contacts they had with russia throughout the course of the campaign why did he say that he believes putin over the intelligence community why did he talk about leaving nato things that put our national security at jeopardy why doesn't he release his tax returns some say that it's just a cover up that william barr the u.s.
1:10 pm
attorney general is protecting donald trump attorney general barr who addition for his role with an open memorandum suggesting that it was almost impossible for any president to commit obstruction of justice and seize the head of the executive branch made a decision about that evidence in under forty eight hours given ms the bars public record of bias against the special counsel's inquiry he's not a new true observer and is not in a position to make objective determinations about the report now some voices are saying that two years twenty five million dollars and three thousand subpoenas just aren't enough they say that if you keep looking you can find collusion because it's there because we say so trust in his prosecutorial judgment but that doesn't mean of course that there isn't compelling and incriminating evidence that should be shared with the american people this president has a way. trying to get into people's heads and indoctrinate them he's been saying no collusion no collusion no collusion he does this all the time this is not the end
1:11 pm
of anything now you might think that the media was to blame after all they kept this story in the headlines for so long examining every unproven rumor however certain voices are saying that they did nothing wrong and should be praised for their work i think we've done the media the press has done one of the great reporting jobs in the history of especially of covering a presidency by the most news organizations some media outlets did so well they were honored with a poll it's a prize for deeply sourced relentlessly reportage coverage in the public interest that dramatically further the nation's understanding of russian interference in the twenty sixteen presidential election and its connections to the trump campaign the president elect's transition team and his eventual administration from once told the media that apologizing can be a great thing when you're simply wrong whether or not they'll hear it is advice
1:12 pm
remains to be seen nobody wants to hear this but news that special prosecutor robert miller is headed home without issuing new challenges is a death blow for the reputation of the american news media nothing trump is accused of from now on by the press would be believed by huge chunks of the population. second speak now to you former u.s. congressman ron paul great to have you on ron we've just touched upon it the republicans in the senate if you blocks that democrat proposal for a full public release of this report the democrats want it the republicans don't why do you think they blocked it. well you know the democrats don't like to hear the hear the truth and if they had their way they would not let anything out they're just playing politics that's all it is they've been they've been. red handed lying through their teeth and now they're just going on and on you'd think they would they would just have
1:13 pm
a little little bit of common sense or a little bit of sensation that there's what they have done but no they just march on they've been line for two and a half years and they're going to continue to lie and even this report you know dishonors all of them but i think what drives all this is just it's sad but i think it's just plain old hatred they decided they were going to hate trump and then there was a coalition there was a collusion with the do republicans who didn't like him because he was a new cover and he didn't deserve it then you had the democrats automatically hey hating him now you had all the neo cons who were both republicans and democrats and then you had a clue you know the media and they all got together and decided this guy's a monster we have to get rid of him whether it's true or not he is so dangerous we have to do it so they staked out a position where they were going to lie or do anything conceivable but the whole thing backfired on them and they deserve it all but they're not going to go away but i think i think pretty soon. the people are going to get you know catch on and
1:14 pm
get tired of listening to this right now they haven't let up there's continuing to go after trump and and lie about the whole mess. i think one of the key points of that full page report was that there wasn't enough evidence to say that the president kerry committed any kind of crime in terms of assertion of justice but he also dangled the carrot didn't he would he said that the president isn't exonerated is that why the democrats will do every would of this report published they're looking for more evidence. you know that that's their excuse to not i'm not sure that i don't i don't like that that term because it doesn't buy you question but how can you say he's never been exonerated from from what stealing banana when he was twelve you know if you're going to try to prove everything is exonerated you have to prove so. so many negatives that you're in a position where you did this we say you did such and such so you prove that you didn't do that prove that you weren't there so i think that's an open ended term i
1:15 pm
think people are going to see through it the democrats going to grab it and say well they're hiding something well i think the whole thing just may continue to backfire on him because you know if anybody needed exposure it was the clinton campaign they were the ones that were involved along with obama in getting the the people at the f.b.i. and the justice department and coming up with. a scheme to get that special. special warrant to spot on trump i mean now there is a crime i think they're involved in blackmail so if they want to can it warms to be continued to be open more who knows there might be something in that report to say my god what did we do you know they didn't do such and such because there was a good reason to and they were actually protecting the democrats and we all know at least that there's a consensus now that. that hillary did get special privileges you know there was
1:16 pm
a lot going on with her campaign and she was involved and she was doing this spying and she was involved in the crookedness of the justice department and the f.b.i. but really it's been quiet i don't think it's going to stay quiet and i think the democrats are going to probably keep this going but eventually something is going to open up the whole thing with hillary because all the accusations made from the hillary camp are things that she was really doing all along and a lot of corruption there that really deserves exposure this whole idea framing somebody and the people who are they frame and the russians and trump it was based on law is so those are those are serious things but added evidently the democrats are going to. but but i think i'm a believer that truth the long run comes out and i didn't expect this one to come
1:17 pm
out so soon but i think it will continue to happen because history frankly gets written correctly just think of all the lies that were told to get us involved in in iraq war well the truth is out now everybody knows that it was all based on lies but this was this when it came to an end much sooner and i think it's been a surprise to a lot of people and it shocked the media and it has shocked these people who have been lying all along. you talk about the law is the law i the donald trump colluded with the russian government it's been great fodder great fuel for several mainstream media channels and some prominent journalists that they've almost kind of pinned reputations on it over the last two years what about repercussions president has hinted that maybe he'll take some kind of action do you think he will and if so what would it be. well i would think not but it's any anybody's guess i think the action is going to be more in the political realm in the senate hearings and following up with more investigation if
1:18 pm
when the final report comes out you know i think what they'll find out is that they may be deleted some names that would be would have hurt the democrats so i think it's going to be that way i don't think he's going to open up with and with a new investigation or a new prosecutor i would hope just the normal wheels of justice keeps turning and that means that the only group that might look at this now seriously will be in the senate and in in the public arena maybe there's one or two people in the media that have learned a lesson but they were colluders they were in the colluding and they were participating in the lie and they set this up so they're not likely to come clean very soon i think i think there's a much healthier atmosphere right now but i don't think trump has to. i have a specific goal of saying i am going to announce and we're going to have this special prosecutor and go through something like that i would guess that it's going
1:19 pm
to come about in a more normal process so if that's the case until it doesn't look for any kind of payback that paints a picture where in the united states you've got a media that can say whatever it likes about the president of the country but how insulting that about how defaming just completely untrue is that a good situation to have in the country why is it like that. and i don't think that i when i modified what i was suggesting that might do or not but i think the normal process which i'm referring to his if you're if you're out there lying under oath i think that should be a crime and they should look into a set of people who have been telling these lies i think the lies told in the media get a little bit more difficult but they will suffer the consequences i think they already have and there's been you know several in the f.b.i. that have suffered the consequences because they were involved in this lying about
1:20 pm
get the fires of war and different things like this so i think that the lying should be revealed and it should be punished if nothing else just exposed because the public will question is you know if i as a libertarian i sort of welcome all this because it means that people are less trustworthy government because we're leery of the cia and the f.b.i. and going to war and the war on drugs and all the spying on people so right now a lot of people you know are realizing that government is not trustworthy and i think that's healthy but i think it should follow up by getting people in there you can trust and finally come across with a government that is a little bit more honorable. perhaps another reason that the democrats well the report published is something that was included. didn't the insistence by robot miller that russia did meddle in the ten sixteen us presidential election using cyberwarfare do you think the democrats will be looking for more fuel in the report
1:21 pm
to adds to the flames that russia somehow still has some things once a full. well they my i don't see where they can get very far on the us because i think the absurdity is the shift in policy between our two countries because i was delighted with nine hundred eighty nine and one nine hundred ninety s. where the soviet system was collapsed and we were talking with the russians we were trading with the russians and we were doing pretty well up until just a few years ago then all of a sudden you know the military industrial complex and now we have to have conflicts going on we better we better get involved you know we have lots of reasons why we have to be involved in syria all these kind of things we need a cold war again and that that is been a problem that's the sad part of it all because as somebody who believes in the principles of liberty we want to deal with people we want to trade with people we
1:22 pm
want to talk with people we don't want to use sanctions right now you know the consensus in this country is gone the other way so in spite of the benefits coming from these lies being told i think it's going to take a little while for people to wake up and say you know because they've built up so much animosity toward russia that it's so disturbing it was so unnecessary but maybe this will be the beginning of a better public better relationship and the rhetoric has to you know be softened people people got to the point where if even one position you are considered you know a bad guy so i hope that switches i hope that change that's very important that attitude changes. i guess is how a former u.s. congressman thank you. thank. hit back at the united states after it was accused of denying sovereignty to latin america details on that story after the break.
1:23 pm
breaks it down tonality. i've been saying the numbers mean something they've matter the u.s. has over one trillion dollars in debt more than ten white collar crime families each day. eighty five percent of global wealth he longs to be ultra rich eight point six percent in the world market rose thirty percent some with four hundred to five hundred three per second per second and fifth when rose to twenty thousand dollars. china's building two point one billion dollars a i industrial park but don't let the numbers overrule. the only number you need to remember one one
1:24 pm
business showed you know board the mid one and only boom but. welcome back russia's foreign minister has accused the united states of treating latin america like a colony the comments come in response to washington's claims of russian military interference in venezuela. top u.s. representatives who failed to change the lawful regime in caracas partly thanks to russia's steadfast position on the maintenance of international law claim that they won't tolerate interference from hostile foreign powers in the western hemisphere. by this we can clearly see the washington's approach to venezuela and all of its
1:25 pm
latin american states that are factually denied its offering. don't close joins on the line now getting dull no no the war of words seems between russia and the us take us through what's been said. over the weekend russia sent a number of military advisors to venezuela and this act sparked serious criticism from washington with national security adviser john bolton saying that he won't tolerate any meddling from hostile military powers with the western hemisphere's shared goals of democracy and then you had mike pompei on monday saying that this move was increasing tensions in the country and then you had the washington based organization of american states almost immediately accusing russia of illegal military interference now they said that this action should have been approved by the opposition and its leader its leader the self-proclaimed president of venezuela now the russian foreign ministry has now responded saying that the u.s.
1:26 pm
is trying to threaten those who are legally trying to help governments specifically the government in venezuela and that the organization of american states claims were groundless and politically motivated. we are sure that it is not for a technical organization to tell an independent government with whom and how it should develop cooperation or to evaluate the status of the government of venezuela which is actually in power on like this self-proclaimed in term president who. now russian's foreign minister russia's foreign ministry went on to explain that russia is actually acting within the bounds of international law and the reason for that is because. russia and the venezuelan government have had an agreement since two thousand and one with regard to the development of military technology and while the united states says the move is increasing tensions in the region moscow also attacked the us is actions in latin america saying that they resembled their colonial policies from two from from around two hundred years ago now it also said
1:27 pm
that. talked about these colonial policies so it's serious a serious development in the venezuelan situation right now and we'll have to see how maybe washington will respond to this in the near future southeast on course of ring is the latest on that story thank you and that will wrap things up for the news hour. and it with me right we're going to take a break bout thirty minutes i'll be back with some top stories latest headlines see them. so what we've got to do is identify the threats that we have it's crazy confrontation let it be an arms race. spearing dramatic development the only really going to exist i don't see how that strategy will be successful very critical time
1:28 pm
to sit down and talk. with the repping up of the muller investigation may have cleared the american president of treason and collusion but it has not got rid of critics determination to get rid of him is the american system capable of anything but settling ideological scores. are.
1:29 pm
