huge while germany is not technically in a recession it appears to be right on the cusp the last two quarters came in slightly negative and flat if it had been two consecutive quarters that were negative that would have been a textbook recession case and germany economy ministry cited a lack of foreign demand which they expect will continue to weigh on economic growth. in the united states unemployment claims have fallen to their lowest total since one thousand nine hundred sixty nine the u.s. labor department reports the number of jobless claims for the last week was two hundred and two thousand coming in below expectations before week rolling average of jobless claims is currently two hundred and thirteen thousand. on the wage front the target corporation and now its workers will be paid a minimum wage of thirteen dollars beginning in june up just one dollar from the current base the pay hike at the nation's largest retailer is the latest step in

their previously announced plan for wage increases target said they will increase their base hourly wage to fifteen dollars by the end of next year. has long been known that electric car maker tesla is storing or driving data to improve their auto pilot pictures amassing over a billion our information but what about all that personal data from the parent of isis artie's natasha sweet navigates the story really only is the supposedly have who also owns a tesla and according to the hacker the electric car company is putting data from its car owners even if the vehicle is junk or we still really only says he has solid proof that even when a tesla is taken to a junkyard that it also takes along the owner's g.p.s. phone address books and call records so to test this out green the only along with his fellow hacker theo bought a wrecked test the model three they were able to surface the vehicles previous

owner as well as data from seventeen different devices used by individuals who had driven it including what they described as eleven phone books worth of contact information seventy three navigational destinations as well as the video of the car's last few hours before plowing it into a tree but tesla isn't the only car company that could potentially store users' data the u.s. federal trade commission also warns drivers about parent personal devices to rental cars the controversy is how close test holds current generated data so much that owners must purchase cables close to one thousand dollars and download a software kit to get the information out of their cars to insurance companies or for other legal reasons but this isn't the hackers. only competition with the electric car company earlier this year green the only accused test the profiting off of open source software when asked about the stored information according to us law there is a back to rephrase option to delete personal data in los angeles last week or two.

tesla has made a grand return to the headlines today as the business world is reeling from a sharp drop in the company's stock here to help us break down its latest moves peers ship the c.e.o. of euro pacific capital thank you so much for joining us peter. my pleasure. so tesla is a new vehicle delivery spell in the first quarter by thirty one percent in the previous three months it delivered about sixty three thousand vehicles in the latest period worse than analysts are even lowered expectations that caused a stock to drop ten percent so what went wrong this quarter. well things have been going a lot wrong for a long time at tesla when it comes to profitability so it's really not about one quarter it's about whether or not you're going to make the leap of faith that tesla is actually going to make a profitable company out of its business i mean right now it's losing
8:34 pm
a lot of money and what has to happen to justify the current share price is that they have to make a profit but they have to do it at a large enough scale to justify this valuation and i think that's going to be a very difficult thing for tesla to do and maybe there is a point at which the company could be profitable but i think the stock is much higher or the price of the company the valuation is much higher than where that valuation may be when the company can finally deliver a profit yes i mean tesla has always been known to be optimistic and i don't want to downplay them for setting a very high goal for themselves but there comes a time that if you fail and fail or time that has delayed or not met its model preproduction goals of five thousand cars a week it's misleading analysts when there are purposely or not and that's bad news so that's very bad news for tesla as well all street analysts are tracking it. well there are a lot of reasons not to buy tesla stock and you know also
8:35 pm
a lot more competition is coming you know to the extent that consumers want electric cars there are a lot of other companies around the world that are going to be ramping up production and so if tesla could make money when it didn't have a lot of competition imagine how much more difficult is going to be for tesla when it has lots of competition from japanese companies german companies and car companies all around the world. that can deliver electric vehicles you know i have one myself and it's not made by tesla well that's not all the bad news part of the today apparently c.e.o. iran must have been accused by the f.c.c. that he violated his october two thousand eight hundred settlement by posting material information about posts on twitter without first example from company lawyers can you first remind us what happened the first time in twenty eighteen and the outcome for the minute. must send out that that tweet about about the buyout that this was another problem that investors needed to worry about if they
8:36 pm
were going to remain long the stock i mean i think the smart money. would be to get out of the stock now i mean i think there's nothing but accidents waiting to happen when it comes to tesla i mean maybe there's some more upside left if they can push the stock higher but if anything that's probably a short squeeze i think the smartest money is on the short side of this stock or certainly not invested in the stock at all. absolutely so how do you think the settlement is going to come out. so i don't know i mean but i think that's that's immaterial because i think you have deeper issues with respect to tesla as as a business model and what it's worth so rather than being worried about some of those shorter term concerns you have to step back and look at the bigger picture and realize how much you're paying to bet on the car when it comes to buying into tesla and i think people are also buying into iran must be the name and the man and the image of musk and his genius that image that he perpetuates so i think that
8:37 pm
also comes alive and his valuation even though people aren't really looking at the stock from a fundamental perspective. that's true and i think investors could be making poor decisions if they're basing their investment decision on the popularity of the cia go or the c.e.o. in the persona that he has because oftentimes action actually get in the way of making a clear judgment about what the business is actually worth the remember he's so wrapped up in this musk is so involved in this and mentally invested that he may not always be making the best decisions rationally going forward because he's trying to validate his own you know his own image and his own conception of what he hopes tesla might be rather than looking at the actual numbers and having a more objective conclusion about what to do and not to mention he's also very busy with his borrowing company and space x. as well but that's all the time we have for today peter schiff to see a. time now for

fears that they may be bad for help and in turn your investment portfolio to with more we're joined by artie's alex mahela bitch in toronto. hi alex how are you. christy. so alex let's start with the f.d.a. probe what is it that the agency is saying. ok so look over the past let's say nine years or so from two thousand and ten to early two thousand and nine hundred thirty five reports of mostly young people getting seizures after using e.c.a. eggs or vapor whatever you want to call them so the f.d.a. thought you know this is a little bit suspicious and this is something that we should look into now i know the number seems pretty small i mean if this was some sort of scientific test the group would be unscientific in this in this matter but at the same time seizures i mean that is a pretty serious thing that's happening to these people so obviously the f.d.a. is taking this seriously now here's a statement from the f.d.a. it will give us a little bit more of idea what they're looking at as they're not necessarily
8:44 pm
blaming themselves so what the f.d.a. is saying is we have reports indicating that some people who use the cigarettes especially youth and young adults are experiencing seizures following their use seizures or convulsions are known potential side effects of nicotine poisoning and have been reported in scientific literature in relation to internet or intentional and accidental fall of wing of nicotine containing the liquid so we know that you liquids go into these cigarettes and we know that nicotine is toxic so what it comes down to here is that there is a we don't know if it's actually the vapors that are the problem here it could be the nicotine itself and it causes seizures if it's taken in large amounts one one post one seems to add up to two here john hopkins medicine is saying you know what a lot of the same lines as what the f.d.a. is saying these east of apes can help people who are smokers that smoke regular cigarettes come off of cigarettes but what they're also seeing is that a lot more young people are jumping on board and starting to use vapor also there's
8:45 pm
about seven thousand talks ins inside regular cigarettes both the f.d.a. and john hopkins that is they both say that the east their words have less toxins but they're still toxic so bottom line either way you do it smoking is bad for you as i am. think it's a really alarming trend right now that mc salts arse so pervasive people are actually buying mixology liquids and so the previous generation because they say that the hit is much stronger and smoother and contains more nicotine so i think people are actually overdosing themselves. so that's exactly what's happening and that's the problem like when you have a veep's you could get more or less of nicotine you get to choose it when you get a higher dose of nicotine like you just said i mean this is something that increases your heart rate it brings up adrenaline it can lead to a heart attack it's not something that you want to see young kids doing or young people or anybody for that matter so the trend is alarming definitely so very quickly how the markets reacting to this. well the markets are not liking this very
8:46 pm
much so you know here let's go through a quick board here we have a graphic for you we're talking about it's. british american tobacco imperial brands just a couple of days ago one of the world's biggest about the producers the first one mentioned altria this stock was sitting pretty at about fifty seven eighty cents now it's fifty four dollars and eighty cents when you go over to british american tobacco it's dropped about three percent this week and also in brands dropped but five percent they're all recovering somewhat if you want to call it a recovery but not really i don't kristie have you ever watch the simpsons in your lifetime now. well you have it there's two characters rod todd and they've always said smokers are jokers and that's what it is up like are these the smoke if the tobacco companies are any go be jokers you're the joke's on them they're losing money and this is dealing with a cigarette so this is not dealing with tobacco itself it all comes down to nicotine and the bottom line is like i said you should be smoking in the first
8:47 pm
place but investors are feeling it now too thank you so much our to correspondent alex mahela bitch thank you so much thank you. about the whale that set in motion the huge decline rally with his one hundred million dollars purchase across three exchanges today we're going to talk about the other half of the cup the currency landscape points all coins have an interesting relationship with bitcoin because for the most part they trade against not the currency this means that they're priced against coin and thus by default are correlated to some degree. all quite have an inverse relationship in their value when the value of between rises that all coins are losing their value and vice versa however they claim is also the biggest bellwether of the market sentiment making up fifty percent of the entire cut the currency market and the value of a coin drops on sentiment the point drops to zero as it gets dragged down along
8:48 pm
with it and i start. but let's talk about some of the smaller nuances of all pine i like to think of all coins as a small to medium stock a smith tops nature these are the high risk high reward names and those with a lot of potential and growth expectations that tend to make up a very small percentage of your portfolio because it's so risky waiting until most of the downside have been priced in so they can snatch it at the bottom for a discount. the all clear market is no different at all traders have been way on the sidelines for most of twenty eighteen but in february of two thousand and nineteen the market is seeing increasing activity but quien has bottomed out around the four thousand dollars level and stabilized leading traders to believe that it had his it has hit the low point all to points on average have fallen ninety five percent in value relative to big quite and this significant decline and lack of liquidity and small cap allt mean that less capital is required to move the price positively now that the quote has stopped its decline in february march we've seen
8:49 pm
a sudden powerful rallies in the market and the buying momentum bulls leading to double digit daily gains like twenty two percent fifty percent sixty percent this is what we're calling the point season where big dominance wanes in favor of the cheaper more volatile all points that rewards risk takers after these huge rallies traders will take these all flying positions off cashing them out into bitcoin a much more stable asset today we're lucky enough to be joined by taylor letterman a simpler trying to talk more on all points and his top picks for underrated currencies how to hire you. because he thinks for every good to be here so taylor let's talk about some of these under a couple currencies i know you've been in the space for a really long time and it has been one of the first technologies on the scene and they want to be everything that isn't so currently they still have the second largest market cap and there has been a few rival all points have sprung up calling themselves the killer among some are
8:50 pm
eos tron any cardon no do you think any of them have the potential to sort of it as the dominant decentralized player. of course i think all of them have potential i think the market again you're aware of this is very young we're seeing cost of development across all these coins and their blog chains but the way i kind of like to look at this is kind of like a social network so we do your social network through you tube your facebook twitter instagram whatever it is we're looking at is the activity in gage going on those platforms and that's how we kind of factor in which ones are valued at more of the others because ads been so on and so we do the same thing with cryptograms the same way we want to see the number of followers going up or the number of active users on a social media we will see the number of active addresses going up to something like more instagram post with encrypted currencies we want to see additional transactions occurring the value those transactions the average transaction value really seeing the growth of the network and so we can start looking at some of
8:51 pm
these coins and weigh them against the others to see which two kind of factor of the growth of each network first the other is a right now each of them have some dominating aspect of that equation or algorithm our we want to what do we want to call it right now if there was so can be top dog i don't think it's going to be unseated anytime soon but what we have to look at all these is again as a sort of a compromise between scalability and security and that's where the debate really lies and some of these platforms different approach that it with time will start seeing which ones are stepping up and really challenging at their home yes i'm glad you brought security another very important sector is privacy so there are lines out there that focus solely on privacy security and anonymity so who has been top dog for a bit they have just over a billion dollars in terms of market cap in kind of solely growing they've kind of it's been fairly steady growth from a narrow there hasn't been a lot of new developments as of late but there's no new challenger really stepping in but there is one dark horse in this race and i think that can be like going
8:52 pm
which currently isn't labeled as a privacy token but there's a lot of speculation around like one becoming a pricey token and i'm excited to see has developed progress on that front and sea of like one can really unseat an air. as a top private joke and it has and most of what i have already with mental endurance and very unexpected player there are other coins are looking to adopt minimal in-laws while so it might just become just something that every single point was absolutely so what about payments payments is another sector that i really like to look at because that's a huge multi-billion dollar business and cryptocurrency and there are a lot of points out there who are trying to disrupt it so what are what is your top candidate for disruption. so right now i am looking at both ripple or an excellent or stellar in this case stellar kind of backed by. rebel growing of partnerships both kind of trying to attack this settlement of payments globally focusing on partnering with banks and larger institutions so it's just
8:53 pm
a race and acquiring more of the market right now between those two i think there's still a lot of debate around the longevity of the actual token functioning on the rebel network steller is still kind of the early stages of development as it really produced anything of significance yet more as ripple has been kind of chugging along in that area so it's just between those two the route close in terms of market cap ripple does kind of always stellar right now i i think that was really up in the air i don't i don't see any. dedicated winner or clarified winner just yet it seems like follows rep on training as well but there's also let's also talk about some decentralized exchanges this is been an idea that's been floating around we don't like to centralize exchanges much or earlier because they were always slower than a centralized exchange but you also have control over assets that was the major trade off so which projects here are you looking at. yeah and just recent history on there's a lot of good changes it's a fantastic idea we just haven't seen executed very well you know what those lack
8:54 pm
is the quiddity so if they're if you can't really trade on the exchange because there's no liquidity you're not nearly going to go find a different exchange and so you centralize exchanges haven't really got any momentum as of yet and we've seen issues with center. as exchanges mean hacked expressly recently with quadriga the canadian exchange of the founder passed away the last of private keys the passwords and everyone there lost their funds for a bit and so what we want to see is this sort of. exchanges actually building some momentum and having enough volume and trading going on that we can actually utilize it one exciting one coming up right now is by nance's decentralize exchanged by nance's the top crypto currency exchange and it's essential as exchange in that aspect in terms of volume and just a trading volume and so they're winning that race but they're also going to go after the decentralized exchange space by launching their disability exchange at the end of this month and i just found out this today it was announced at a conference in singapore and so they're attacking this in for the exchange space
8:55 pm
and i think they have pretty much going to take over the whole that whole market over absolutely have all the cards they dominate trading on extension centralised exchanges as well they are killing at a teller letterman currency analyst at simpler trading thank you so much for your time. that's it by this time by you can catch us on direct t.v. channel three twenty one dish network hello to eighty are streaming twenty four seven on pluto t.v. the free t.v. at channel one us r t c n x time. there was a crack seems to do crack when i was a little kid my dad he was like oh. so you know like what i
